Just a joke, cake_freak.....I don't know ANYONE who owns one anymore, with computers what they are. I actually learned to type on a regular non-electric typewriter back in my day. But we have one in our office collecting dust, it hasn't been used in 15 years, I'll bet.
That's how I learned to type too! You had super human strength in your fingers and wrists by the time you finished - electric was a real treat when they came out!
Maybe you can appreciate the humor in this one, my son (19yr) thought Nance Drew was one of the Golden Girls !!! I said your kidding right? "no, she's the one that wears those long vest type sweaters doesn't she?" I'm starting to feel old
I loved the Golden Girls. I still watch the re-runs! It was a little before my time, but I still loved it.
Wow, you ladies got hooked up for Mday!
I like when I drive my SIL's car, because she doesn't have power steering. Talk about buff!
Monica, who died and left you boss
I have a typewriter from 1929. And, no I wasn't around then
I have been trying and trying to make cookies and I just didn't get it. I bought Toba Garretts book and I can make cookies
I'm making 90 Baptism cookies. When I'm finsihed I'll post a pic.
But, I have to tell you I never realized how time consuming making cookies can be. No wonder they are a little pricey.
I have to have them done with the cake by this Saturday, or maybe it's Sunday I guess I should be sure.
I am so tired of cleaning my KA so now I put newspaper under it and then use plastic wrap around the mixer. So when I'm done I just have to remove the wrap. No more digging around with a toothpick to get it clean. I buy the big wrap from Gordon's so it's not expensive to use.
I use my KA so much it has started to make a noise. If it dies I think I should buy a more powerful one.
No one died, as far as I know, and I am definitely not boss (except for at my house.) I just noticed no one was posting for a while. I'm sorry if I said something wrong.
about Nancy Drew! Seriously Make him read a book!!
LOL! That's the problem, he reads - he reads ALOT, just not Nancy Drew I can't come back on him about it, he's a 19yr with his first certification in computer programming - and half way through getting his second. If it were my oldest son (21 yrs) - not much reading going on with him at all - then I could throw the book at him (pun intended). He knew who Nance Drew was though - he also knew about the Hardy Boys - LOL!
Super man strength. LOL!!!!
I definitely got hooked up. I got breakfast in bed (McDonalds but that's ok)
then I got my airbrush system and we threw a nice little bbq at home.
My B-day is next month. I'm looking into Sugar Veil and an extra bowl for my KA.
Am I being too greedy??

haha! whoo...thanks itsloops. I was really worried about that. Now I'm worriless. I think worringly just is too much of a mouthful.
Here we are back to grammar, is this the word of the day, like in school?
I still remember that. Word of the day.
Here's a silly joke someone just e-mailed me. It's ok I can send mexican jokes. I'm mexican. Ha!
Q: What were the 2 Mexican FireFighting Brother's names?
A: Hose A and Hose B
That's like the basketball one.
What do you call two mexicans playing basketball?
Juan on Juan
LOL!!!

What do you call a girl with one leg shorter than the other?

So Cakesbymonica, you baking anything today? I don't have anything to bake but I'm going home to make a small cake just for the hell of it. Can't wait to try out my new airbrush.
i'm in the process of planning a large cake due Saturday but can't get people to answer my posts. It's for a family member's birthday. I just got his okay today. I had to ask because he planned this big party and I wanted to make sure he didn't have one already. I'm going to try to bake the cakes tomorrow.
Does it have a theme?
My boss went to a Graduation party this weekend and he showed me the cake. It was 3 stacked books. So awesome!!!
I told him I would be making one for my nephews next June. Both of them graduate from HS.
It's a replica of his choir's mascot. I'm just having trouble making sure the cake I make, chocolate, is sturdy enough, it should be an hourglass shape. I think I'll just hope for the best and the fondant will keep it together.
The book cakes always look so cool!
I consider myself "un-young" he he he
Or
Younger than dirt but only by a smidgen.
A quick stupid serious question...does it matter if you use a crusting buttercream under fondant? It's been so long since I've done a fondant cake. . . Nasty stuff..
And then back to the craziness...
I wouldn't think so because the fondant would keep the buttercream from crusting.
Right???
I always use crusting buttercream and to this day, I've never had a problem.
Coolness, thanks. The insanity continues. I just shelled out $40 for 4 lbs of fondant! Ouch! But I was in a bind, and don't have time to wait for an order to come in. Hopefully, its enough and I don't have to buy more.
Sally sells seashells by the sea shore.
Rubber buggy baby bonnets.
Wow, seems like I missed so much....having to go to work and all!
Hello everyone!
Hope everyone had a good Monday!
Cake_freak, have you talked to your friend about the picture of your cake, still waiting to see it!
i'm going to try the Duff Butter Cream under my fondant and see how that works.
I'm coo coo for coco puffs.
i got to have not only for the cc buddies on here but for this project i am working on about the job i will be doing when i get out of high school!!! haha im up to 33 slides on a power poing haha but any who guess what i made some of the best garlic chicken spagetie last night and the garlic bread was like melt in your mouth with a bit of a crunch OMG CAKES IS NOT THE ONLY THING IM GOOD AT my mom tol me soo
What BC recipe do you normally use under your fondant?
Last time I worked with fondant I used Wilton, but I'm not crazy about it. I'm using Whimsical Bakehouse cookies and cream filling with a Devil's Food version of the drurable cake. By far my biggest, scariest cake! I'm afraid people will try the creamy-richness of the WBH, then proceed to crisco-y Wilton icing, and then playdough-y black Satin Ice.
AAAAhhh. This is a crazy crazy topic. I have to get my 2 yr old in the bath. I'm quite certain in my latest busy-ness she hasn't had a bath in two days. Ew.
cake_freak: Did you ever get that picture from them? I'd love to see the pic that started this random topic.
I've never tried it before but this weekend I'm planning to try the Duff Butter Cream under my Fondant. I hear that's what he uses. The recipe is on this site.
