Okay, here are my three worst cakes. They are in order from "the worst" to "not as scary" starting with the bear cake. This was the second baby shower cake I did, I think. It wouldn't have been so bad but the blue just seemed to stick out too much. And the bear looked a little too "hairy." Could be Chewbaca's baby....hmmm...
Next is the heart shaped cake. This was probably my fourth or fifth cake. Again, not too bad but the icing color was hideous. It was supposed to be peach colored. It looked orange. And of course, my handwriting skills weren't up to snuff yet (I'm still working on that!).
Lastly, we have the "pool cake." I remember that I had just found out you could shape stuff out of gumpaste. I was so excited. So what if it didn't look much like a pool? So what if the "swimmers" didn't have any hands or feet? So what if I screwed up and got blue piping gel everywhere??? I could shape stuff with gumpaste!!
)
frankandcathy (whisper) you are suppose to say that it was a pool cake for the disabled Olympics.
Actually even with the great grand son of Chew I don't think these cakes are that bad. I think that they look ok and obviously from your photos you have learned from any past mistakes. You do very good work.
Although I'm supposed to be working, I've found myself unnaturally attracted to this forum for the past 2 hours perusing all 49 pages! While the crazed beaver chewbacca masterpiece gets my vote, the guppie shark story had my eyes tearing up. I've also had to go to the bathroom for 2 hours but refused to leave my computer to do so. I'm new to the forum, and have just posted a few pictures. While I don't think I have pictures of anything that really compares to chewy w/ booties (that I have a picture of anyway), I do have one to share. This is so bad b/c it was SO disappointing. I had such high hopes for this cake and it ended up looking, well ... bad. Really bad. And to make matters worse, it was NOT my first cake. My first cake was actually pretty nice. It was a cake I did last year - and I got paid for it. I tried to hide the bulges on the side of the cake, but I think I made it worse. And "mom's" belly is concave! I actually felt bad about accepting money for it. It's a baby shower cake, but I'm afraid it looks like the baby is about to be come right out of the side of the cake! ![]()

I've been debating whether or not to post this picture. Here is the story.
The very specific request was to create a 2 tier ivory square 40th b-day cake for a male. She specified that she wanted the Ohio Buckeye mascot on all sides of both tiers. She wanted some red roses and a somewhat formal feel to the cake. My first though was you have got to be kidding, but there was no talking her out of her specifications.
So this is what I created. I hated it! What, what, what could I have done differently??????
regymusic : for any BUCKEYE that is one great cake! ...this Buckeye doesnt have a bad word to say about it
regymusic i am curiousl... did she love it because it looks like you gave her a very nice version of what she asked for!
No, she was not happy with it. Although, her best friend advised her that the cake she recieved was exactly what she had asked for. What can you say, what can you do???

I've got to tell you that seeing your avatar is the first time I've had cause to LOL about this cake.
Thanks for that dianagreen.
Alright ya'll! You just have to picture this one because it was before my decorating days and my heart was in the right place. My grandpa was having a birthday and I really loved my grandpa. I wanted to make his favorite...chocolate cake with Peanut butter icing! Well one burned chocolate cake and very runny icing later, I found I had no candles...what is a cake without candles (I was only 9 after all). So I took one of my mom's piller candles (8in high x 4in wide) and put it in the middle of my dry, burned chocolate, 9x13, runny icing cake, lit the candle and presented it to the crowed! They had the best roll on the floor, pee their pants, split their sides laugh anyone had given them in a while...but this is one of my best memories because my grandpa said he loved it and loved the fact that I made it from the heart...he died a few short months later...not from my cake, though!
I'll see your 3D bear and raise you one. Mind you, I made this cake for immediate family only, for my baby's 1st bd, with zero decorating experience (it shows), zero creativity and zero...well, it's just a zero! I can't decide which is worse, the bear smash cake or the horrible excuse for an adult's cake. To be fair, I really didn't try AT ALL, except in the baking of the actual cake (hershey's scratch recipe for cake and frosting). Oh and get this: I used icing from a tube with the screw-on tips. The round thingys on the adult cake are candles from the party store. Can you tell where I just kinda gave up on the sprinkles for the bear? Too bad I can't post the photo where my daughter wouldn't even touch her own cake. We thought perhaps she just didn't like chocolate. In retrospect, I think she was just insulted.
I didn't really want to post this because I have very little in my gallery to prove that I really can do better, but I cried so hard laughing while reading this thread, I felt it was time for a bump.
After seeing ceshell's bear,I had to pull this one out of my pics to share with the world. It was for my neice. She was so cute. She designed the colors, what she wanted on the cake, etc and it turned into one of those deals where I didn't plan very well for time. At least this one doesn't look deranged like the first version! If dh hadn't eaten it that would have been a sight for you guys to see! So it's supposed to be hello kitty. What the heck do I know about hello kitty?!?
AAAAKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!
I wasn't afraid of clowns before, but I think I am NOW!! OMG! That is one SCARY cake! ![]()

I did say...the nose was the first to go...It took all of maybe 10 seconds for my son(1y/o at the time) to reach over and pluck it off and begin to eat it...it was a red royal icing ball.
I've had quite a many FUGLY CAKES! This one is about in the middle of all the horrible cakes I've done.
all4cake: Thank you for posting your clown cake I needed that good laugh ![]()
The bride gave me a picture to go by! It's hard from me to believe there were 2 people in the world that liked this cake! Created and awaiting delivery, my son saw it. For the first time his usual tact and diplomacy flew out the window. "My G-d!", he exclaimed, "That's the ugliest cake I ever saw!". Then for fear of hurting my feeling he began to babble..."oh...I mean..the workmanship is good..I mean.. it was not your design was it! ...uhhhh, was it????!.. oh...of course not...I mean...who..ah, you..um... " Poor guy, I thought he'd never get over itl As a matter of fact it still holds rank with him as "my worst ever". ![]()
PGray315~ your cake does not belong here
