This cake was inspired by the movie Rio. All fondant decorations. So fun to make this one and I love how it turned out. (I think it's probably mostly because I make a field trip to a local Sand Bar to get in the spirit! Nothing like dancing the night away with a fruity drink to get the creative juices flowing! hehe)
Camera App Iphone
This cake was for a girl who loves her camera apps! All hand painted. I used 11x15" cakes for this. So fun to make!
Monster High Cookies!
These were so fun to make! I made up the argyle pattern as I went and I just loved how cute they are! Can't you just see these in a green/golf theme! Hmm.. might have to try that next!
I was given a pattern for the flowers to match the nursery bedding. Took 3 1/2 hour to paint the designs, but I loved it! Used a tiny paint brush and airbrush coloring. TFL!
Pretty In Pink Cookies
I was so happy to contribute these cookes as well as a little cake and some pops for an adorable Pretty in Pink themed party. See all of the amazing details on Iheatnaptime.net
Happy Birthday Peanut
This is my new favorite cake! So fun to make! For the characters I made little templates from photos online, cut out the shapes in beige fondant, then just freehand painted the characters. Only Snoopy and his house are 3d. The house is a RKT. I use black airbrush coloring and a tiny (1/18) paintbrush to paint on all the black details. The girl teared up when she picked it up!
Men In Black
This cake was SO much fun to make! They wanted a bunch of random stuff from the movies and the 8 year old bday boy said he really wanted the cockroaches on it. ewe- but the customer gets what they want right!? hehe
This was for a ASU graduation. The school's logo's just got a makeover this year, so it was really fun to get to make something with the new design.
This design was inspired by one done by Pink Cake Box. Simple and sweet. 4"6" and 8" rounds
Classic Pooh Cake
I made this little cake (4,6,8") for a teacher at my kids school's baby shower. I LOVE when I get to paint on cakes. I didn't have my airbrush colors- so I just used wilton gels with a little clear vanilla and some of the wilton white. Sweet and simple.
These are chocolate nfsc with glace. Made them for a friend who did a fall shower themed party shoot for Bird Party Magazine. So fun.
I made this on super short notice for a friend's fall shoot for Bird Party magazine. Just an 8" cake carved down a bit. I love these! Man- professional photos make all the difference in the world!
So, I get a lot of requests for cakes from customes who are on a tight budget- my answer is to make these smaller cupcake/cake combos. This entire design was baked, frostings/fillings made and decorated in 3 1/2 hours. The bird is 8" and I think there were 12 cupcakes.
I traveled to FL to make this for a friend. She wanted a peacock theme, but didnt want it to be too busy. The peacock feathers are piped on with royal to look like the ones on the invitations. The sugar flowers were a lot of fun to make. First time doing the lillies and they are SO fun and easy! Loved em! TFL!
so... it's been awhile since I posted any cakes on here. But even though this one is pretty simple in design, it is actually my first 3 tiered buttercream cake. (The accents are of course fondant). Being a fondant girl, I always cringe when people ask for a buttercream base- plus the fact that I live in phoenix and the day I delivered this it was 114 degrees out. EEK! Used a smooth buttercream, hot bench scraper and viva to get it super smooth.
Lightning Mcqueen Cookies
So- I know we have all seen a million of these, but I liked how they turned out so I am posting them. I did the entire cookie outline in black first and then filled in all the color parts. It made it so much easier that way. TFL!
This cake was for a couple who were having a 10 year vow renewal. The picture on top is a fondant frame on a bit of cardboard and the picture is of their wedding 10 years ago at where the eloped to Vegas. I almost never pipe scroll work because I am not very good at it, but I like how this one turned around. I used Edna's wonderful tutorial on calla lillies- SO fun and easy!
This is a cute little turtle for a 1st birthday party. This one was a 9" and there was also a matching 6" turtle smash cake. The shell is buttercream and the limbs and dots are fondant. I am loving these cake/cupcake combos because they are so quick and I can offer them to my customers who can't afford a full cake!
So- the birthday girl wanted topsy turvy, bright color, and some slumber party things. =0)
This was such a neat idea. The theme of the baptism was Go Green and they wanted the Tree of Life with Jesus holding the Baby and the Go Green ball.
I'm Lovin' It!
Giant McD's cake! This was basically a 1/4 sheet pan cut in 4th's and stacked. I torted each layer, stacked and filled 4 layers, put in 8 straws for support, layed down a cake board, then stacked the remaining 4 layers. I let it chill in the freezer before I carved and crumbcoated, The french fries were so easy to make because I just took a package of Wilton fondant right out of the bag and cut it in strips. Much easier than kneeding and trying to get back to a square shape! Then I airbrushed and sprinkled sugar on for the "salt".
Poor Smushed Cake
So- this is that cake that toppled over in the car after a dog ran out in the road. Had to slam on the breaks and swerve to miss another car- so it totally detached from the base and flopped over on its side. Crazy enough the only major damage was done to the back. Luckily I hadn't attached the flowers yet, otherwise those would have been ruined. Also, I am positive that the center dowel saved the day!
This is one of my favorites. It was based off of the nursery bedding, and was so fun to make. The trees are painted calico with airbrush color. TFL!
