Tip Top Gift's
This was my entry for the 2010 AZ Cake and Sugar Art Show. The giraffe was made out of RKT's and the fur is Royal Icing. This was so much fun to make. It did wonderful at the show and received many awards including People's Choice and Decorator's Choice.
This is for my dad's friend who has coached for the Giants, Vikings, and Cardinals. I carved it from a 10" round and used a cheese grater to get the indentions. TFL!
Stripes And Polka Dots
This cake was based on the invitation to a little girls birthday party. I posted a picture of the invitation too, but I don't know if it will stay on here. TFL!
These were the demo cupcakes that I made for a class that I just started teaching at my local YMCA. The best part is that the ONLY tools I used to make all 3 of these were: a freezer bag, toothpick, and viva paper towel. I was like a proud little mama watching all 13 of my students succeed in decorating their own cupcakes! (most of whom have no cake experience)
Fun snowman cake. Carved from 6" and 8" rounds. I used the top half of the ball pan on a 6" for the head. RI around the bottom cake and sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Little Einsteins Rocket
A friend want a LE cake for her daughter, but it didn't need to be huge so this is what we came up with. The cake was carved from a 10" round and I used cupcakes for the rocket boosters. The characters were a pain to make because it is so hard to capture Disney characters just right. TFL!
This was my 2nd damask cake of the weekend. It was for one of my best friend's wedding. TFL!
Square Damask Rose
6,8,10, and 12- I was so excited to try stenciling on the side of a cake! It was a lot easier than I thought it would be, but VERY time consuming. I masked off the top with painters tape so it would have a clean edge on top. Then used a putty knife to spread on the royal icing.
This is for my bff's little girl. She had a Elmo party. I decided to do a 2d Elmo to try something a little different. This was really fun to make!
I am bummed that Barney is so shiny. I sprayed it with pearl sheen and it looks funny in the picture. I was sort of into 2d cakes this weekend. The mom just wanted daisies on the cake too, so here it is.
Spa Baby Shower
This was for a 2nd time mother who wanted to do something a bit different for her second baby girl's shower. They had a 15 ladies and hired a spa company to come give treatments. What a great idea!!! It was all about relaxing and lavishing the mom-to-be. This what I came up with to go with that theme.
These are 2 cakes that I made for a Mom's lunch at the YMCA I go to. I painted on the rose and zebra designs with black coloring. Let me just say- don't make cakes for a group of women from your local gym and expect them to eat it!!!! YEESH! Cake needs to be eaten people! We ended up giving the 2nd cake away as a raffle because only about 6 people had a slice! UGH! =0)
These were the other cookies I did for my friend. Her other son read Charlotte's Web. I was a bit disapointed with the end result, but I know the kids liked them and that is all that matters,
This was for my friend's son's class. They were having a book parade and his class read Horton Hears a Who. I went with the look and colors from the book rather than the movie.
Because 2 People Fell In Love
The bride wanted this saying on the cake with some scrolls. Fun to make.
This cake was inspired by a CakeGirls design. The color turned out a little funny in the photo, it was a bit more purple.
This was for a 25th anniversary for a couple who wants to do some traveling. Just an 11x15 made to look like an old suitcase. I even got to paint some old luggage stickers. So fun to make!
I Love The 80's Cassette Tape!
This was for an 80's themed birthday. The husband just wanted a white tape, but luckily I talked him into letting me jazz it up a bit with the polka dots and flowers. I used a 11x15 pan and just carved it into the tape shape. TFL!
This was for my SIL's birthday. She wanted a zebra, so this is what I came up with. The head and limbs are all RKT and the body is a few 8" and 6" cakes carved down a bit. Fun to make.
Fancy And Fresh Cake
This was for a couple of friend's who wanted a little cakem with the 2 of them on top of a small cake and a bunch of cupcakes. The charcters are fondant and the faces are based off Aine2's figurines. She wanted the characters to be doing something funny, and I am not a huge fan of the bride pulling the groom, etc, so I had them getting a little "fresh" in the back and grabbing tush. =0)
Mad Hatter Shower
This was for an Alice in Wonderland Themed baby shower. They wanted to have the main colors bright with the black hat on top.
These were the cookie favors to match my little guy's first birthday cake. I give these out as thank you's at all my kids parties because I am HORRIBLE at thank you cards.
Safari Friend's Birthday
This was for my little guy's 1st bithday. We had a jungle safari theme and this cake directly matched the tableware (it is called "Safari Friend's 1st birthday"). The animals are all made of fondant. TFL!
this was a cake for a disc golf player. It was a little tough to figure out how to make the thing they throw the frisbees into, but it worked out in the end.
