Breast Cancer Fundraiser
I was asked to make a cake for a local owner of a Cheerleading Company. The families were raising money for her because she has very sesrious breast cancer and was dropped from her insurance carrier. I also donated 100 matching cupcakes with a chocolate pink ribbon on each. TFL!
Polka Dot Bday
these were to match the invites with paisley added because a lot of the guests were from India.
I didn't dowel this one very well and it started to sag a bit on the bottom tier- oops! Oh well they still liked it!
I made this for an event at the cigar bar my dad "lives" at. It was for their 1 year aniversary. The lid is gumpaste, the cigars are modeling chocolate, and the labels were black fondant painted with wilton white. It was fun to listen to people say "Did you see the cake?"-"no- where is it?"- "right there"- "where?"-"right there!!!"-" What? That's a cake??!!" So fun!
So I know this picture is horrible, but I forgot to get a good one. I just thought people would like to see how they turned out. They are NFSC with white Glace. Once the glace was dry I airbrushed the planet colors on. Jupiter is my favorite. =0)
I made these for my son's b-day party with the family at Peter Piper Pizza. The red puffles from Club Penguin are made from piped candy melts. Simple and easy. =0)
My sister's ex-bff (ooh long story there) found a picture of this cake in a magazine. It is not my original design, but I accidently threw away the photo with the artists name on it. If you know who made it please let me know and I will credit them with the concept. It was still fun to make, but took forever to pipe all those leaves. I used a tip 2 for all of the piping.
Bottle Of Dom
The Dom bottle is a RKT with a hand painted label. the bucket is cake and the ice if sugar. For some reason they wanted truffles too- and because I waited till the last minute I didn't have time to make a gumpaste box for them to sit in so I took a foil cupcake liner, covered the inside with chocolate, then peeled it off once it hardened and Voila!- a little truffle holder. The bucket was something that was sort of inspired by one Pink Cake Box did. TFL!
Double Heart Wedding
So this cake was not exactly my style, I really don't like piping- but it was fun anyways. The wedding was literally double hearts everywhere, so I think it fit well. Let me just warn anyone who has to match David's Bridal Watermelon ribbon- DO NOT look at the website for a color match- get the real ribbon. It is a totally different color on the website and I had to redo 110 borders on the cookie favors and it took forever!
What else can I say- it's Texas! Carved from a 10" square. Made to look like the state and flag. I gave it a little bit of a rustic look with the airbrush.
Chocolate Curl Grooms Cake
I did the chocolate curls using a potato peeler. I used dark chocolate hersey bars and white chocolate bakers bars. Made a big mess, but it was fun to try something new.
Double Heart Favors
This was for a double heart themed wedding- everything was double hearts. They were the favors and were set on the place settings. I did 110 of these suckers! ugh!
This was carved from 9" rounds. It was a little tricky to get the fondant completely smooth because of the ears, but I think it turned out cute.
Nasty Foot Cake
This was for my Dad's friend who owns a cigar shop. I guess he hurt his foot in a silly accident. The funny thing was I make cakes for all the guys b-day's at the cigar shop and this guy thought he was getting a cool football cake- haha
So- my best friend wanted a cake and the b-day boy requested that the cake have. and I quote- "A Dragon, Bruce Lee, A Blond Hooter Girl, a Ying Yang sign, and fire". So yeah- this is what I came up with - A Dragon fighting a hooter girl in a kung fu suit Bruce Lee style.... sometimes I just don't know what else I could possibly fit on a cake!
Hand Painted Roses
This was my wedding cake entry for the 2010 AZ cake show. I hand painted the roses on the side and there were 45 sugar roses. I wish I would have had time to make a full topper, but I ran out of time. It won 1st place, however it was the only cake in the category. =0)
Wwii Love Letters
This was a the cake I did at the 2010 AZ Cake Show's Live Cake Challenge. The theme they gave us was "Love" and we had 2 1/2 hours. We were able to bring 1/3 of the decorations made and an unfrosted cake along with our supplies. I decided on a WWII era cake. This was a hat box, filled with old letters/envelopes, some gloves, and pearls. The letter was actually written by my husband as if he were a soldier the day after D-day. There was also another envelope, wedding bands, and a monogramed handkerchief. It was so much fun and I actually won the contest. TFL!
