.... ummmm Writer's Block... oh darnit I hate when this happens I knew what I would write. Ok I am gonna have To wing it. LOL

1. My favorite cake is chocolate chocolate chip with chocolate buttercream. I love baking and experimenting with different techniques. Everyone ask me how I manage To stay so trim when I do so much baking. Well it's simple I give all my practice stuff away.. LOL

2. My favorite hotel is the Ritz Carlton.

3. I love shopping. I love shoes, bags, jewellery, pedicures and manicures. My ex calls my Martha and my friends call me Betty. But even more important they know not to call me when I am at the spa or out shopping unless they wanna go shopping with me....

All right after sitting here and reading all 12 pages I think that I will give it a shot.... Here we go.....

I met my husband when I was 19 years old at a great International market located in Fairfield Ohio called "JUNGLE JIMS" we worked their together for 2 years. i was told that he was afraid to ask me out because he thought that he was not my type and I thought the same. ANyways to maske a long storie short he ended up asking me out and we hit it off pretty good... I lived on m,y own and he lived with his parents..I knew he was the one because we were just dating and he ould give me his paycheck to pay MY bills. 6 months later he was sitting in the kitchen w/ his mom and told her that he was getting married. She had never even met me yet so she was very shocked.

I was diagnosed with fertility problem after trying on our own for 4 years we went and seen a specialist and a little after our 5 year anniversary we ended up getting pregnant with fraternal twins Boy/girl
Pregnanct went well until the 30 week all H*** broke loose I went in to premature labor and ended up laying in a hospital bed tried to keep me prego for 2 more weeks but that did not work(i was 2 cm dilated and 100% thined out). I layed in the bed for 1 week and swelled up like a balloon my thighs were so big that I could not even walk on my own. To make things short I ended up with toxima and they had to induce me Friday nov 19 they said that I would be in labor all night but I keep telling them that I have so much pressure in my rectum and ended up delivering my son. While I was delivering my son i felt this knife an that was the worst pain i have ever had, the doctors were shocked my epidural quit working so i had twins NATRUAL (NOT BY CHOICE). I do not know if i will have anymore after that.... The doctor reached his huge hand inside me and pulled my daughter out by her leg(FOOTLING BREECH) because she was cooking in her own fluids (she was not breathing)... I did not see either kids for 3 days because I was so sick they did not even know if I was going to make it because I lost so much blood...
Any how my babies are fine they are happy bouncing 11 month olds getting ready to celebrate their 1st b-day.

I love to collect gadgets anything that has to do with the kitchen... Blenders, smoothie machienes, fryers, pans, waffle makers, smores makers you name and i have it........
I love to make cake and decorate them i also do not like to cook just bake. My hub says that I am not allowed to bake because I leave such a big mess in the kitchen(HE IS A NEAT FREAK) I am a stay at home mom with twins and i also make beautiful wedding albums by hand covered in fabric...Ilove to craft.. Well I think that will do it I could go on and on but I will stop for now....

One more thing is anyone anywhere near me...
Cincinnati oh?????????? Thanks Fawn

NEXT PLEASE>>>>>>>

Wow I think this thread has started to have a life of its own.........

This is all so interesting, driving my son nuts as he wants on computer and I keep saying "just as soon as I finish this one topic" icon_razz.gif !!!

Briansbaker: someone who loves to dust, I just can't wrap my head around it, trying to get myself to just do it lttle lone like or love it, even tolerate it. icon_cry.gif Worst thing is I am a collector of things so there is alot to dust ! Don't suppose you rent your kids out for dusting icon_rolleyes.gif ???

Hey Mac: Can I borrow your husband just for the dusting if I don't find my own HOT BOD DUSTER ? icon_lol.gif

I also am very paticular about my Christmas tree, all my ornaments are homemade and must be placed just so ! So my son wouldn't feel bad he had his own Christmas tree with his own ornaments since he was 2, everyone adds to his ornament collection every year. Since his birthday is right before Christmas we call his the birthday tree and birthday presents go under it and Christmas presents under mine. He is now 18 and has enough ornaments for his own home when he gets one. Now I have four trees one in the LivingRoom, one in the Family Room, in the basement, and the other one is in the Craft/library room.

One more thing, I love computer scrapbooking, do a Memory Album for each family member when they reach 50 and for my friends as Wedding Shower gift or on their 40th Birthday. icon_lol.gif

O.K. time for me to shush tapedshut.gif and tag out, someone else is it !!!

Three things about me.....
First I have to say I have enjoyed reading this thread...All you women are wonderful
2) I stay at home to help DH run and operate his business (He is a builder for new home construction) but most of my time is spent trying to decorate cakes and reading this board...oh yeah when I am not doing that well I am out shopping...TRUE shopaholic here...I left my career as a RN last year to help him out and plus I reached burn out real quick...I have no plans to ever go back into nursing but I will keep my liscense just in case I need them
3)Met my wonderful husband at the airport of all places...I was a flight attendant at the time and he was picking up a client (That was back in the day when you could greet your loved ones or friends at the gate) he approached me and told me that I was the most poised elegant woman he had ever laid eyes on....I was thinking yeah right pervert...but ...something else told me that he might be different ....because we talked for over an hour...he met me the next morning on my return flight home with a beautiful boutique of roses and a limo ride to my home (an apartment that I shared with 8 other flight attendants) that night began our romance we have been together for 6 years....I love him so much and wish everyone in the world could find that special someone like I have..

OK here goes!

I'm not a cake Diva as most of you are, but I love decorating and trying new techniques I read about here on CC.

I'm 58 and have been married to the same wonderful lady for 36+ years now. We have four beautiful daughters ages 34, 32, 30 (all three born in Alaska) and the last is 22 (born after we moved back to Tennessee.) The oldest is also a cake decorator and prodded me into making the jump into doing cakes for dollars!

There are at present 8 grand children with the promise of more, since our last one just got married 3 weeks ago! (That is when I found out that I could also make wedding cakes!)

I am a Mechanic by trade, burned out on working on cars and transferred 8 yrs ago to the parts dept at the local Dodge dealership I've been at for 18 years now. My DW is Deli manager at a local Food Lion. (And now is learning to decorate cakes too! LOL)

I love it here on CC and everyone of you are wonderful folks. I hope to be as good as most of you some day.

BTW Bakerchick103 and Angelcakes4u, I'm a Tennessee boy from Strawberry Plains (outside of Knoxville.) thumbs_up.gif

Another TN girl here thumbs_up.gif

Guess I will add my two cents in as well.

I am currently 48 to be 49 in November....don't tell anyone. I have two children 32 and 28. Got married to my first husband at 16, (yes, I was pregant) 2 children and 26 years later, finally divorced him.

Met a wonderful man 3 months after my divorce, I wasn't looking but he is the best thing that ever happened to me...today is our 7th year of being together....yeah

We just moved here from Colorado, I'm from Indiana originally but moved to Colorado to be with him. Best move I ever made. Now we are in TN, closer to my kids and my 3 wonderful grandkids, 2 girls and a boy.

Took all the Wilton classes a couple of years ago and it has been my passion ever since. This is the most wonderful site. Everyone is great and I have withdrawals when I can't get time for my computer.

I am currently working, but HATE MY JOB, wishing I could open my own place but finances won't allow it right now. Look forward to reading more posts about all the wonderful people here. You guys are the best.

<WHEW!!!> icon_eek.gif I can't believe I am finally to the end of reading this thread so I can post!! LOL How fun it has been to sit here and giggle at your comments though. icon_razz.gif

SHORT VERSION, 3 RANDOM COMMENTS:
1- I am related to the once heavy-weight boxing champion and movie star Gentleman Jim Corbett
2-I used to be a haz-mat responder at the chemical plant I worked at. We made stuff that could easily kill people, chemicals used to make computer chips.
3-My secret fantasy that will never come true is to be "Sydney" in the show Alias. OMG, that show rocks!!

LONG VERSION, 3 MORE COMMENTS:
1- I met my DH on the internet. We dated shortly after and will soon celebrate the 8 year anniversary of our first date. Been married 6 1/2 yrs and have 2 beautiful children.
2-My sister and I are exactly 1 year, 1 day, 1 hour and 11 minutes apart. My 2 kids are 1 year and 11 days apart. I think 1 is my lucky number! Also, I was supposed to be born on April 1st! (Looks like I fooled them, was born 3 weeks later. My poor mother!!!!)
3-I love change. I am always rearranging my furniture, changing my hair style and color, dreaming of the 'next' thing to try, etc. Only things I don't want to change are my DH and 2 kids, they are perfect just as they are.
4-(bonus comment) I am border-line nosey and love to talk though I am NOT a gossip. I have a BS in Chemistry, and no interest in using it anymore.
5-(last bonus comment, I promise! icon_razz.gif ) I really really want one of those dolls that looks like a real baby that I could dress up in real baby clothes. DH thinks that the dolls are too realistic and that it would be creepy having one in the house, so he says no, I can not spend that kind of money on a doll. I'll have to work on him some more...

I can't believe I just read this WHOLE thread it took over an hour, but i just couldn't stop it is so much fun!

I am in the pre-nursing program at our local university. I am 26 years old, and have been married for six years.
When I am not in school I am a SAHM to three girls ages 4, 2, and 1. I also secretly want another- maybe there is a boy in our future, hmmmm

I am almost six foot tall and hate being so tall. Always feel so akward, hard to find long jeans, etc.

My husband and I are also on the Dave Ramsey plan. (Sorry can't remember who else said that, but I know it was someone) We are debt free except for the house and hubby is on a 5 year plan to pay that off.
We want to send our children to private school, hopefully we will be able to afford it, but are also considering homeschooling.

My husband just read over my shoulder about the Christmas trees, etc...

He said "Oh Lord, don't get her started on her Christmas decorations"

I too have to have a perfect tree so our children have their own Charlie Brown tree. My husband doesn't even try to help me decorate the tree because he knows I'll just move everything he puts on it. He stands it up for me and cuts the top off if needed and he takes it down and drags it out of the house and vacuums up the needles. Oh, and he keeps it watered. He won't even wrap presents. He gets my mom to do it for him because he says he knows I won't like the way they look next to all my pretty wrapping jobs. Our neighbors laugh every year when they see him struggling to get our huge 10 foot tree off the top of our Suburban.

But my favorite Christmas thing is my lighted Christmas village. I have about 300 buildings and they are all over the house. They go up the day after Thanksgiving and stay up till after New Year's. I love them. My husband says they're pretty but he would be happy having just the one that has the smoking chimney. He thinks that is cool but couldn't care less about the rest. But he does buy me a new church every year for our anniversary and he lets the kids each pick out a new building from the North Pole village every year for Mother's Day. I LOVE Christmas!!!

My husband thinks I'm nuts!! I told him to blame his mother because she is the one that got me started on it. She says she didn't know she was creating a monster. They tease me about my obsession every year. I just love having all the lights off and the tree and village lit. It makes our house look so pretty.

Okay, that's enough! Time for me to stop...

I've gotta make a comment on the Christmas thing... Ya'll ever heard of Obsessive Complusive Disorder??? Paxil is the cure for that!!! LOL!!! Ya'll know I'm just picking!! I am OCD.... I used to do the very same things!! The tree had to be just right, the wrapped gifts had to match, the colors had to match. I cleaned my house EVERY single day of the year. It took me all day to do the bills because I couldn't stop thinking up new ideas on how to pay them. I had an idea for everything. My mind ran & ran & would sometimes run away with me dragging behind!! LOL!! Finally my dr. put me on Paxil. WOW!! Has it helped me so much!! Now every year I let everyone else decorate the tree. We wrap gifts in Christmas colors only (couldn't stop that!!), & I don't clean like I used too. I do that once a week. OH... with me, hubby, & kids being fire fighter/EMS volunteers we have started getting ornaments & deco that has something to do w/ the FD!!! One day our Christmas tree will have only FD deco on it!! We also have another tree for the diningroom that will have the deco's through the years.

Do you blue eyed people have dark brown nearly black hair? I have blue, blue eyes too. But don't have the yellow spots in them. Has anyone ever heard of a catahula curr dog? These dogs have blue, blue eyes! Australian shepards also have the same color. My eyes are just like that. No joke! Some people that I have met through my 38 yrs can not believe that my eyes are so blue & that my hair color is dark brown! Anytime I meet a person for the first time that's what they say.

Christy (Briansbaker) I used to have every one of VC Andrews books!! I think she died around 1995 or 96 & I didn't want to read the books after that because I know if wasn't her writting them. Morbid books but I couldn't stop reading them. LOL!

Wow, I'm finally at the end of the thread! So many interesting people on this forum. Glad this was started!

So, mine are as follows:
1. I met my DH in Calculus class in college. He's half Mexican/half caucasian, while I'm Chinese. Mom totally didn't go for this relationship since I come from a very traditional Chinese family. I'm known as the "home wrecker" withing our group of friends because when I met my DH, he was still dating his high school sweethart. A year after we were friends, he asked me for advice on how to break up with his girlfriend because the relationship was just not working for him. He wanted my female opinions because I was his only female friend. So I gave him my two cents. He broke up with his girl friend, then turned around and asked me out a couple of days later. Dated for 3 years, got married, been married for 4 years. I'm 26yrs old and he's 6 months younger. Luckily, he too just recently turned 26, so I don't have to feel old around him.

2. I'm a PhD student in Bioengineering at UCSD, while DH is a PhD student also, but in Chemistry.

3. I love to bake/decorate cakes, it's my new obsession for the past year. Currently doing karate and hope to get my black belt by Christmas of 2006.

Thanks and hope to read more from all of you!

I am a 30 year old SAHM of a 5 year old girl and a 3 year old boy. Married for 7 years, after dating for 4. They are my favorite people in the world, but sometimes I have to hide in the laundry room to get away from them too!

I don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but cakes make me some nice coin, so I think I'll just hang out doing this for a while!

I don't sleep more than 6 hours or I'll wake with a migraine. I don't like red food, except for cherry pie. I hate being touched in the crook of my arms - I don't know why, it just gives me the heebies! I can't eat too close to my husband sometimes because I can hear his food inside of his mouth even though he chews like with his mouth closed, apparently I am the only one who can hear it.

People tell me to stop smiling and always want to know why I'm so upbeat. I am a Pisces and am very intuitive, sometimes I feel like I can see right through people and understand what they are really trying to say.

I learned from Oprah that people just want to be acknowledged, so I kiss asses a little sometimes, it makes the whole world go around a little smoother.

Okay, I'm in.

I lived with my husband for about 11 years; no rush to get married since I wasn't using anything and never got pregnant. The last year of living together, I discovered I had endometriosis. Had surgery and four months later, much to my surprise, shock, and delight, was pregnant. We ran off to Key West, got married, and six months later had a baby girl. Decided since the ole plumbing was working that we better try again. Audrey was born 20 months later. I got a late start in mommyhood, 38 years old. Probably a good thing since it took me awhile to settle down. After 23 years with Northwest Airlines, I was layed-off and am now at SAHM and loving it.

I love cardmaking, scrapbooking, mystery novels, and make believing I can decorate cakes! I also love doing yardwork. Mowing is my favorite. I tell my husband it's the only thing I can do and see the results without my girls messing it up behind me. icon_lol.gif

LOL I always tell my kids.. Less is more.. I used to collect angels, titanic items, candles.. I would try to display everything I was given.. Well after going crazy with all the dust and started watching " Clean Sweep".
This is what I say, " if you have not touched it or even seen it in the last 6 months get rid of it!". Also if you have something someone gave you and you don't want it and don't know what to do with it.. YARD SALE!!! either sell it or give it away.. Think about it, you enjoyed it when you first got it, now think about how much joy someone else will get receiving it for the first time.. works everytime..
And the Christmas Tree thing?? hehe 2 weeks before Thanksgiving.... I let my 3yr old fix the bottom (thats all he can reach) and when he goes to bed I take it all down and re-do it.. It works for now..
Yes everything has to be in the exact spot.. I have a tree that rotates so no gifts can go underneath.. Thats a bummer! I have to organize my gifts on the sides of my tree.. I hate the way that looks!

Mac: I'm in Portsmouth, Ohio...only about two hours from Cincy.

This thread is sooo interesting. I just love reading about everyone here.

I am in my third marriage, been together with my DH for almost 12 years. With my first son, my water broke and I didn't realize it for almost 18 hours. icon_redface.gif
My second son was 3 months premature, his head was the size of an apple
icon_surprised.gif He was 2 1/2 pounds at birth.

My daughter was a normal delivery except for having double pneumonia at 8 months pregnant.

I dropped out of school at 16. After two kids and two broken marriages, I went back to school because my Grams told me that I would never make anything of myself. (Boy she was a great motivator!) I graduated college with a 4.0 GPA and as Valedictorian. icon_eek.gif I didn't know I had it in me!

Well, enough about me. icon_cool.gif

About the Christmas tree...ours goes up the weekend of Thanskgiving. All the kids put the decorations on and now my oldest son (6 ft 1 in) just lifts the little ones to help with the top half.

Wow, I think I just killed an hour of work reading this whole thing again! Just wanted to add....for those of you who wanted to be a CSI, I am right there with ya! I told my boyfriend when we moved in together that he could have his Monday Night Football if I could have CSI. I've never missed an episode (I think the real reason I love it is because of Nick Stokes, but I won't tell my boyfriend that!)
Also, something more about me...hmmm....I am 5' 5", 146 lbs., auburn hair (natural color, Miss Clairol makes it blondish brown - as long as Miss Clairol comes in a bottle, I will never be grey!)), Fair skin, freckles, brown eyes. Was 215 lbs. when I graduated high school - lost 85 lbs. in three months. Gained about 15-20 lbs back.
And finally, regarding Christmas trees, I put my tree up on Thanksgiving Day, and it definitely has to be color coordinated. No more than three different colors, and yes, the gifts have to be wrapped in matching paper. See, we are all a little Obsessive Compulsive. If it will make anyone feel better, I must tell you all that noone can be as obsessive about a Christmas tree as my mother. She puts the tinsel on one strand at a time, ithas to be in just the right spot (can't have two stands closer together than two other strands), and when she takes the tree down, she takes the tinsel off one strand at a time and saves it for next year.

1) I just hit the BIG 40 in July....I have been married to DH for almost 4 years now(2nd marriage for both)..have a 18 yo daughter and a 12 yo step son....Ready for the real kicker just found out on Friday I am pregnant...Yeah..God I am so scared about it also....My child just started college in August and now I am pregnant trust me this was not planned at all..but we are completely happy about it.

Congratulations on the pregnancy! And join the group of us older moms or as I read once "Second time around moms".

My husband would love for me to have another but I keep telling him I am too old.

Wow, this thread has gotten soooo long... I can only skim thru the replies and hope I get enough info to know a bit of all of you...

I posted 3 little things but I should also add that

1. I am also a stay home mom for a while. I had my 2nd and last child almost years ago and because I had no relatives to care for her, my husband and I decided that I should stay

2. I have another older daughter and she is in 2nd grade. Very smart red head.

3. I am planning to go back to work God-willing soon before my little goes to preschool.

I love cake decorating and would like to hopefully someday either have a small business on this or do it part time.
