Way Off Topic... Three Random Things About You
Lounge By edencakes Updated 1 Mar 2014 , 1:25am by karina_lisa2010
Ok....I thought I would add some more...two of the others were more like "little secrets" lol
I have an accounting degree, but never worked in it..worked at a bank in the tax department (according to the recent job interviews I have had, does not count as experience in accounting).
Am yearning to find "my calling". I feel like it is doing cakes for a living, but don't have the finances to open a real shop.
Although I eat, sleep, breathe and dream cakes!!! (Like the rest of you!) I think my husband feels neglected because he is a cake and CC widow. Although, I am a kayaking widow myself. LOL
I have one sister who is trying to become an actress. She lived in NYC for awhile, but she has Epilepsy, and has had to live with my mom who moved to Atlanta....so my sister had to go with her. But, I think she would have a better chance in a city that there aren't thousands of people trying to do the same thing. Maybe one day she will make it! ![]()
I LOVE shopping for kitchen stuff. Love reading cookbooks and about anything to do with cakes.
I am a big Dave Ramsey fan....and I am debt free except for my mortgage!
WOO HOO Although, my hubby hates Dave.
I also love Dr. Laura Schlessinger....and DELILAH!!!!!
Fave shows right now: Grey's Anatomy, Girls behaving badly, Paula Deen, The apprentice (both of them)
If I could go back to college and start over, I would get a degree in either culinary arts or nutrition.
I just bought my first glue gun and am ready to start crafting!!! lol
I am constantly trying to figure out ways to show my husband that we could afford to have a child...
Ok....sorry to bore you all...but just didn't want you to think I was some weirdo. Even though I said what I said in my last post about 'secretly' wanting to be a stripper, LOL, I am a devoted Christian and could never do it......

1. I love my 35th Anniversary Edition Camaro - although I don't take as good of care of it as I should! Has a few minor defects in the paint job from myself and lost my antenna so the radio doesn't come in and I don't want to lose my car for a whole day to have them put in a new one.
2. Someone actually got married because of me. After my friend had a bad break-up I posted an online personal ad for her and even made her first few responses to her future husband - they've been happily married for 4 years now.
3. I'm 24 y/o - My boyfriend and I have been living together for 2 years now - we were planning on a spring engagement - he told me last week he was scared and now I don't know anymore if its the right decision and this could be a huge mistake and I'm wasting my time when just a few weeks ago I was so sure he was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I'm in a state of confusion and don't plan on taking any action until something comes to me leading me in either way.
Hey you did say random - I typed the first 3 things that popped into my head.
Oh and one more. I am a closet smoker. I was supposed to have quit with my boyfriend last January, but I've continued to smoke only at work since my job as a 911 Communications Officer is highly stressful - I haven't been able to give it up at work yet, although I do want to and feel a little bad when boyfriend talks about our 1 year - smoke free anniversary coming up..........oops ![]()
traci - men can be such dogs!!!
Only a girl can truely understand paying 100 dollars for a pair of shoes. (I know there are some men who are the exception!!)
or be able to go to the mall three days in a row and still find something to buy each time.
I'm with you there. My two year old is already learning the joy of shoes. She has more than I do.
another fact about me is: I do love to shop!! I use to only shop for my girls because I was in the "mommy rut" and didn't shop for me. Well I got a new hair cut and that hair cut needed some new things!!!
Good for you for getting out of the "mommy rut". All us moms have to learn to do that.
I probably did the quote thing wrong . . . so you will probably have to figure this one out. Sorry.
I fixed your quote! Make sure you have the brackets as the beginnning and end!! PM me if you need any more help!
Okay, I wanna try:
We have a large family, eight of us in the home, myself, hubby, my two sons, my daughter, my best friend and her son and daughter. My best friend in the SAHM and does all the cooking, cleaning, and laundry through the week, she makes sure that the kids are all well and taken care of while hubby and I work full time jobs.
I have an associate degree in business administration with emphasis in medical administration. I work as a legal secretary. I know, medical-legal
go figure. But in the law practice where I work all we do is workers' compensation so that is where the medical plays in at.
My dream is to open my own bakery/cake shop with my daughter who is ten but has a very strong interest in cakes as well.
Next..........
this looks like fun...
1) My parents are 1st gen. immigrants from India...since I was born and brought up here, I learned how to bake at an early age so that we could have a "proper" Thanksgiving dinner every year!
2) I believe that the biggest flaw to the women's rights movement is that we chose to assert our rights so that we could become equals in the workplace but forgot to make ourselves equals in the "homeplace" (why is it that every wife/mother whether they work or stay-at-home I know has to practically bop their DH on the head with a frying pan to do an equal share of the chores?????)
3) I love everything about being creative - painting, cooking, sewing...but I'm a CPA in my "work" life...go figure... (it's the product of being a child of Asian parents, I think)
You go girl!! If my hubby did anything around the house I would probably pass out!!
~Denise
Cool topic!
Let's see .. .. hmmm .. .. three things about me:
1) I try to live daily to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in all I think, say or do. I'm a looong way from perfect but I'm joyously on this incredible life journey!
2) I sneak chocolate chips and almonds mixed together and hide in the bathroom to eat them
The things you gotta do to get a little treat without your children seeing you -- sigh!
3) My dream vacation is packing a suitcase of books and heading to a little cottage in the woods (has to have a fireplace) and READING uninterrupted for an entire week!
Okay, I'm throwing in a few more tidbits! I have a terrific police constable husband with whom I have nine wonderful children (4 boys, 5 girls). I have a degree in philosophy which has given me countless hours of enjoyment while changing diapers (let's see, that's approx. 7,000 diapers per child = 63,000 diapers, 1 - 2 minutes of philosophizing per diaper change -- man, I could have earned my Ph.D. by now!) We homeschool in a small village in central Ontario. I drive a Dodge Ram 15 passenger van. mmmm, that's about all I can think of right now!

I have green eyes and REALLY wanted one of my kids to have green eyes like me, but they all have blue eyes like my hubby.
me too. But both have blue eyes!! My youngest is only 8 months so I still have a few more months to see if they change, but they are so blue I don't think so!!! Darn !
Missmersh: BUY THE CARMEN ELECTRA VIDEO!!! You will really enjoy it!
Michelle 9 children!! Wow!! I only have 4 and I can barely keep from calling them by the wrong names sometimes!!
Tanyap if my hubby lifted a finger to help out around the house I would just know he was having an affair or something!!! Although if he would do the ironing and clean the toilet I may allow him to have a mistress....Just Kidding, of course!!
I love this thread so I thought I'd add 3 more things just so could get to know me a bit better:
1. I love to write and had a book published a few years ago. It is geared towards a preteen audience ..."Nights in Nemra". I had a sucky publisher that charge too much for the book, and I hope to have the sequel published by a better publishing house (it's written but I need to start mailing it out).
2. I am originally from San Salvador, El SAlvador and my parents immigrated with me and my 5 brothers in 1980 to the US....I am thankful for that every day!
3. I don't have a very best friend to share all things with, and have always been jealous of those who do.
Ok three things about me:
1) I work during the day at a construction company as a graphic artist/ executive assistant; during the night, I work as a bartender.
2) I am 28, single, with no children - can't have kids due to illness.
3) The previously mentioned illnesses that I have are: Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Crone's Disease, and Myasthenia Gravis.
Hmm, interesting topic. I love learning things about everyone. I feel like I'm getting to know the entire CC family!
Gee, I feel like I'm one of the last ones to post something. . .
Usually, I only get to check the site out during the week.
It's been so neat getting to read about all of you.
We have such interesting stories and lives!
Okay, here it goes:
1) Recently got back from a beautiful 2 week vacation in Europe.
My Boyfriend (future husband as soon as I get the ring
)and I visited: Prague, Brussles, Venice, Tuscany, & Rome.
My BF is a computer engineer and a photographer - we truly have some spectacular pictures of our trip.
2) I'm the baby in our house, the suprise baby, both my parents were 39 yrs old when I was born. I'll be 30 on 10/20/05, still live at home with my parents. My brother and sister always told me not be be stupid & waste money moving out. So, I actually listened to them, I have a great set up at home, so I'm not complaining. My Parents are AWESOME!
They even help me with the cleanup after I make my cakes ![]()
3) I'm allergic to shrimp & lobster (always gotta be on top of that
)
4) Here's an extra tidbit - I studied acting, it's my other passion,
it's on the back burner though, b/c cake sales are doing well -
not to mention I have a "real" full time job
I truly enjoy baking and creating, absolutely love it!
Ok,
Now that I should be the last one to post, I will add my three things.
1. I am a stay home mom of a 4 yr old and 14 month old.
2. I am a supportive wife of a wonderful husband who is going to school full time to get a sales degree and has a full time job as an IT specialist/account manager at a software company.
3. I got married when I was 18 to my wonderful husband. We dated for one month before we knew we were meant for each other. Got married three months later. I have now been married for almost 8 wonderful years.
Sorry these are not the most exciting three facts on here, I will try to think of more later. Keli
1. I have just recently decorated my first cake by myself, but don' t have the pictures posted yet! It was a clown cake for my grandmother's birthday.
2. I was in a very bad ATV accident a little over a year ago and lost my left pinky.
3. I raise and show registered quarter horses.
2. Oh yeah ,whoever it was earlier who said "Buffy" was the greatest...my nephew Robert Hall (ALMOST HUMAN FX), did all the FX for Buffy and Angel! The "Hollywood Wedding" photos are from his cake.
Ok KayDay...I'm dying to know who your nephew married?? I looked up the wedding cake....really cool!!
It said he married a actress/model. And most importantly....can he get me hooked up with James Marsters...aka Spike??....lol SHHHH
....I won't tell hubby if you don't!!...lol
I did get to see Def Leppard in concert and another time Motley Crue....they rock!!
I'm a 80's head banger myself!!
~Denise
Ok I will play to
1. I am a cc addict, I am signed on all the time I dont never sign off. (always looking for new ideas and freinds)
2. I work full time at a rental car company I take care of the stolen and recovered cars and non rev. cars.
3. I am married and have an 18 yr. daughter so I needed somewhere to go to call my own (my kitchen with my cakes).
well that is my life not much fun huh!!!!!!!! ![]()
Hi there! Some of y'all have led very interesting lives..
1..I'm a school bus driver in my 15th year of driving for the same school system.
2..I recently got back into cake decorating after not doing it for about 10 yrs. I actually learned more from the Wilton classes than I did from a previous private store I took the first lessons from.
3..I come here every day and this site has saved my rear end a few times from a cake disaster.
Thanks to all that makes this a truly wonderful site..
Michelle ~
If I had nine kids, I think I would hide in the bathroom as well! J/K. I feel for you.
Now three things about me:
1. I work as a Safety / Payroll / Human Resources Manager. However, I still spend atleast two hours a day on this site.
2. I have a 3 year old daughter, that is my life!
3. I secretly want another baby.... shhhhhh don't tell anyone!
ok here are my three things about me...
1. I don't like cake, but i love chips and salsa!!! But I love to make and decorate them! I have been decorating off and on since I was 18, I am now 42.
2. I met my husband while I was working at my favorite fast food restaurant, Taco Bell. (I just barely knew his name and I got in his car and we spent the entire night together at his place(we didn't do anything really). Gosh if my either of my daughters do that to me...I don't know what I would do.)
3. I have 2 beautiful daughters, 16(will be 17 in one month) and 13(born on leap day), 1 dog and 4 cockatiels! Oh and I have been married for 19 years next month.
Okies, better late than never, right??
1. I am 34, married at 17 the first time, 28 the second time (two different men.) Met my second husband online through a chat room that Michigan people hung out in. First time I remember seeing him (he says we met before this but heck if I can remember) he looked like he wanted someone to shoot him as he was with his then girlfriend and was hating his life. A few months later after they split he asked me out and I hadn't been too far out of my own miserable marriage and I told him fine, but I hate men. Our entire first date consisted of me tearing into the male species and he asked me out again! I figured if he was willing to go through that, he deserved a chance.
We were married 2 years later and that was 6 years ago.
2. I have 4 great kids. 16, 13, 11 (girls) & 2 (boy). The only planned pregnancy was the 2 year old! He's not spoiled or anything. ![]()
3. I work as a paralegal and just received my certified Professional Paralegal designation last March. Now I teach some of the topics for others who are certifying.

What a wonderful peek into the lives of the people on this board - this is a fantastic thread!!
Here's the skinny on me:
1) I'm an obnoxious extrovert who loves to bake, and I'm married to a geeky computer introvert who refers to our kitchen as "the room where we keep the food"
2) I secretly yearn to write a book, do beautiful needlepoint like my sister and mother, and knit - so far, I've not written a sentence, I lack the patience to needlepoint, and don't know a knit from a purl
3) Finally getting pregnant, carrying a baby to full term, and raising her to be a productive, independent member of society has been the hardest, scariest, most frustrating, and BEAUTIFUL experience of my life. It truly is the hardest job in the world, and I'm so thankful God gives 'em to us when they are babies so they don't realize when we're screwing up!
I am so glad to have found this board. Everyone has been great, with advice, support for each other, celebrating the triumphs and mourning the defeats. It's too bad the real world can't be more like Cake Central - it sure would be a happier place to be.....
Well, after spending the better half of the afternoon reading about everyone, I guess I shall add mine...
1. My husband and I went to the same grade school, high school, and college. I dated his best friend for 1yr while he hated me(this was when we were in college). He had asked me out before I dated his bf but I turned him down. He was a neighbor of my best male friend. when this friend came to visit me at Purdue he also visited my dh. Well, he (bf) forgot his shoes at dh's apt., called me to go get them for him since I was going home the next weekend. I did and my husband says, that that was the first time he ever really was "stunned" by my presence. He says he couldn't wait until the next week when I got back to call me, something about my eyes and what they did to him. That was 15yrs ago last month. We have been married for 11yrs this past June and have 4 beautiful children...Rylee (girl) 9yrs; Lawrence 7 1/2yrs; Payton (girl) 5yrs; and tiny little Addison, (Addy, girl) who just turned 3yrs. Its pretty ironic how my eyes were what attracted my dh to me (they are quite unique...kind of green/blue/grey w/specks of yellow...depending on what I wear they can look really blue or really green, or somewhere inbetween.) at any rate, dh has brown but does have the recessive gene from his dad, yet out of the 4 kids, not a one has my (or recessive...green/blue) eyes. at least 2 of them should have given the odds. My kids eyes just get darker and bigger as we go down the line (oldest to youngest)
2. I am a SAHM w/an elementary ed degree. I just had an interview with Purdue...waiting to hear if I will be called back for a 2nd interview...prayers please. I'm not really sure I WANT to go back to work, but have been looking just to see if anything interesting came up and this came my way. I love being at home, but am sort of ready to go back. I'm still torn and am just leaving it up God to lead me in the right direction. If I get the job, it was meant to be...if I don't, then I was meant to stay at home a bit longer. Can't beat that thinking, right?
3. I come from a large family as well...I have 1 fully biological brother (he's older than me). We are products of our mother and father (obviously). My mother was killed when I was 10, father remarried and adopted 4 children w/stepmother 3 boys, 1 girl. My youngest brother from this pairing is now a sophomore in college. My father and step mother divorced in 1993. My father remarried a woman only 5yrs older than myself and they had a child together. This brother is only 8mos older than my eldest daughter! My father passed away from cancer in Nov. 1997. The newest stepmother also has a son from a previous marriage...so in all I have 1 sister and 6 brothers, half and otherwise. I think I could write a book on my family life!!! My father had 5 sisters and 3 brothers, so I have a multitude of cousins, etc... My mother had 3 brothers Holidays are such fun!!! (that's a bit sarcastic)
I have a few comments to some posts...
Tanyap ~ I have informed my dh that if I do get this job w/Purdue, life around the house will be changing. He's gotten so used to me doing all and that will NOT be the case if I am working outside the house. I hope he is prepared!
MissMersh ~ I too am anal about the tp and agree it goes OVER. My dh really hates this about me. I just wish he could get it RIGHT!
Please tell your dh that if you wait until you can "afford" a child, it will never happen. You can always find a way for things to work out, you have to be flexible and willing to give up some of the extras you might enjoy now. Children are such a blessing, I hope you two are able to find a way to get what you both want. I wish you luck!
Veejaytx ~ I got a tatoo just this summer. I have an adorable Boston Terrier and a beautiful black lab. I got a pawprint on the top of my foot. (to honor them) Just an alternative to the actual dog picture. As far as the top of the foot thing, I highly advise not to get it there. The guy told me it wouldn't be that bad (pain wise) and I figured after giving birth to 4 kids, I could handle it. I then about hit the ceiling when he started. He then said, "Actually, the top of the foot is one of the worst places to get a tatoo, all of your nerve endings end in your foot" Hey, thanks for telling me! At least it wasn't too big, but I didn almost pass out. He had to stop at one point so I could regain my composure!
Ok, I'm sorry for going on and on, but I don't get to talk (type) to many people over the age of 9 these days!
Thanks to everyone on this site who has helped with my joy of cake decorating and for those who posted a short getting to know you post in this thread.
Oh, one more thing I have to mention...I am a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan (my whole life) and I'm secretly in love with Mark Grudzielanek (was with the cubs last year, now with the St. Louis Cardinals)! My dh says I'm a traitor since I still like him even though he is no longer a cub and worse yet he's with the Cards. Oh, well, I'm infatuated!
I apologize for that being soooooo extremely long. I hope noone fell asleep! haha
Thanks for reading, Julie
Okay here I go...
1. My DH and I were Jr. High sweet hearts. I was 12 and he was 15. We dated 71/2 years and then got married, we just had our 8th wedding ann. last Tuesday. yes that makes me 27 1/2
2. I can not spell. if i dont have spell check i am lost. in fact if i ever post something and the spelling is terrible it is because i forgot to spell check it.
3. I was on my own by time i was 14 so i am very independent and i hate to be told what to do.
Julie (4cakefiends) - i love your post! I too have a tattoo on the top of my foot. it is a star. green. it is more towards the toes. I didn't think it was bad. the worst was the tattoo on my back. I felt the pain going up towards my neck! i hate it now. I want to get it removed. one day I will.
Sorry everyone - i keep posting to this forum. I am really obsessed with reading about everyone!! I just want to keep on going about me too!
Please do - keep it going! I sneak on to read tidbits during work. lol
I've been dating a wonderful guy now for 6 months now. I know he is it and I didn't think I'd ever say that about any man. He told his mom the 2nd week of us dating, that I was "the one". I'm just now believing him. LOL
I'm a former military brat, Dad did 20 years in Air Force. Therefore, I love traveling. This is the longest I've been in any one place and at time I feel the itch to move. I've been to about 15 different countries. I want to do the Amazing Race, SO BAD! My best friend and I sent in a tape for it 2nd season but really need to do it again. But she's pregnant now. lol
I can't remember who said they wanted to be a PI but I have always had that in the back of my mind also. Something about private investigating really intrigues(sp?) me.
1) I started baking when I was 2 w/ my mom (jsut dumping things in a nstiring at that time of course!) and was home schooled until high school. I learned fractions through baking. I took a 4H cake decorating class when I was 10 and fell in love, lol. I'm 19 now and am only just getting things "right" (which to me means it has to be "perfect" lol).
2) I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia after 6 years of trying to get doctors to believe the pain was not all in my head
3) My hair was 3 feet long until I was 17 and cut off 20" (gave to locks of love of course). now my hair is never gets past shorlder length because it looks better on me, but I really miss long hair! lol
Oh well, I have one more:
4) I WILL be going to studie baking in France after I get a BA in Entrepeneurship and WILL then open a small bakery/cake decorating shop. As you can tell, spelling is not a strong point of mine! ![]()
Hey I'll take a shot at this, in case anyone is still reading..
1. At age 53, I remain an "old maid" sharing my home with my mother.
(not so secretly grateful that my sister has my father!)
2. I lost my two best friends to sudden illnesses within 5 years of each other. This taught me to take the risk to have what you want/need now. You never know when your time is up. I borrowed the money to build my kitchen in my garage, and I will never regret it.
3. One of my best memories is the day I met Julia Child. I arranged to be a volunteer for an event she was attending, then I stalked her until I could catch her somewhat alone. What a gracious and wonderful person she was.
WHERE DO I START? I HAVE JUST READ THIS POST FOR OVER AN HOUR. THANKS TO EVERYBODY WHO SHARED.
1.) MY HUSBAND USED TO DATE MY SISTER ACTUALLY HE WENT WITH HER TWO DIFFERENT TIMES WHEN WE WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL. HE AND I WERE JUST FRIENDS. THEY BROKE UP IN JANUARY OF 1998 AND HE AND I GOT TOGETHER MARCH 30, 1998 AND HAVE BEEN SINCE. WE MARRIED IN MAY OF 1995. SO WE HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR 17 YEARS!
2.) TWO KIDS GIRL SO IS 9 AND BOY WHO IS 5 (WILL BE 6 IN A MONTH).
3.) BOTH HUSBAND AND I ARE IN THE FIRE DEPT AND I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT. I DON'T USUALLY GET TO GO ON THE TRUCKS BECAUSE I HAVE TO STAY WITH THE KIDS BUT THAT IS OK. I AM LEARNING SO MANY THINGS!
I AM SO GRATEFUL TO ALL OF MY NEW FRIENDS HERE ON CC. I LOVE YOU ALL TO DEATH!
