Hi everyone!
Tonight was wild rice with beef tips, sauted pea pods, rolls with sweet butter, betty salad, raspberry mousse and a vanilla bean tartlet.
I had an ACF meeting tonight so one of the chefs prepared the food for everyone. It was so good.
I made for my family tonight (since I'm the only one who goes to the meetings) bacon and cheese brats, red skinned potatoes with green beans in a rosemary sauce, mac and cheese (blue box), honey glazed carrots and french bread.
Wow, Melissa ~ I wish I could cook like that (only vegan). Your food always sounds so gourmet. ![]()
Hello everyone.
Tonight was:
rice pasta w/ tomato sage sauce
veggie sausage
spinach
I hope everyone is doing better. We're still contending with our own personal waterfall this winter... but it's slowly drying up. They say these things happen in THREES, but no one ever mentioned them happening in SEVENS.
My daughter ( who's 3 ) has been making up jokes lately, that are quite funny. Just when things are getting way too complicated, I look at here and remember what it's ALL about. I love that kid!!!
(tears of joy)
Have a good night everyone, and remember to LAUGH!!! ![]()
Hi Everyone
Mkolmar - your food sounds sooo delicious!!! mmm is there place for one more at your table - lol???
k2cakes - Your in my prayers - hopefully that waterfall runs dry and quickly!!! And arent kids just a Blessing!! they can really make you feel awesome, when times are really tough!!

Dinner last night was

Keep well everyone - Big hugs to all!!
Hi all ~
Tonight I made meatloaf, asparagus with prosciutto and pine nuts, and haricot verts Lyonaisse. Oh my Lord, the green beans were freaking amazing!! My kids ate them like crazy.
Recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Haricots-Verts-Lyonnaise/Detail.aspx?prop31=1
I digressed a little from the cooking instructions in the recipe and reported what I did in my review (you can read user reviews which are usually very helpful).
Hi all
Cakepro - im gonna copy that recipe - lol well done, its allways difficult to get kids to eat veggies well - whoo hoo, now you know how - lol
well i have been so blessed - lol I have been busy with lots of cakes, and after doing the big one of the soccer field, i was asked to do a cricket supporters helmet in cake - and it came out the same as the actual one - (let me just say that this was requested by 2 entirely different companies and neither knew i did the cakes for the other - they found me on the net) and then wednesday night my father phoned from the family restuarant where he took mom to dinner - to yell at me that my cake was on t.v. again - this time the cricket helmet - lol
I dont even get that channel at home - boo hoo so i missed it again
But it was so cool and i felt so proud, 2 cakes on t.v in 2 weeks - lol now if i can have a cake a week on t.v - wouldnt that be awesome - he he eh
Dinner last night was - mash, tomato and onion sauce and sausages and meat balls - jarod just had hot dogs
Hope all are well!! - we miss you
Hello everyone.
Hi Cakepro.
Your food sounds gourmet.
Tonight was quick - I had to drop off dessert cakes at the cafe.
rice pasta w/ DH homemade pizza sauce
sauted red & green peppers w/ mushrooms
sauted soy sausage (aka: soysage)
oven roasted broccoli w/ garlic
(I'm all out of "Tings"...
so tomorrow's salad will be sans crunchy.)
The water finally did dry out the same day, so I was able to exhale.
You know when too many things pile up so that everything seems insurmountable? It helps to step back and breathe... and gasp for air, and then breathe again.
Sometimes I get a bit too "Sanford & Son" for my own good. ![]()
Have a good night everyone.
WOW it has been a few days since I had time to post at the table...
Sunday was roast, potatoes, baby carrots, celery, and onion in the crockpot.
Monday was steak, hashbrowns, corn
Tuesday was leftover steak, and leftover potatoes and carrots from the roast
Wed. was Spaghetti and galric cheese bread
Thur. Chicken patty sandwches and steak fries
I also baked on Tues banana bread mini loaves for Brooke to take to school for lunches and snacks..
I have been busy working on the computer entering my candle inventory into a new program to make my life easier.. And also catching up on conference calls I had missed for my candles...
I haven't had a chance to read up on everyone..
Catch you all soon..
I can only remember what we ate for the past 3 nights.
Cheeseburgers
taters au gratin casserole
beans and cornbread (ds says to tell you mommy's cornbread is the best and it's not from a box...lol)
tonight was enchiladas..
I didn't know what to make and asked Jord.. So he asked what haven't I made in awhile so we came up with this lOL
I will actch you all later
We had Pizza Hut last night. We met my mom halfway between here and her house for supper.
Bigger kids had cheese pizza from their Book it coupons. Kaydi and I had pineapple pizza (Kaydi at 16 mo can eat 2 pieces of pizza if it's pineapple.) Mom had canadian bacon.
hi all
Tonight was t-bone steak, with sweet potatoes, butternut an corn.
Hope all are well - and everyones food sounds delish!!
Hello everyone~
Today was:
Vegan Pizza Day... LOVE Saturday's when DH is off to make it. YUM! He and the kiddo get up at 6 to make the dough and sage sauce. It's very cute... she cuts her's into shapes with cutters. Mini-chef. ![]()
Salad: lettuce, vegan blue cheese, cashews, cranberries, Tings and homemade balsamic-sesame asian dressing.
He makes mine with the "Chebe's Rice crust mix" (I hate bread) and it is wonderful. For any gluten intolerant people here, it has spices in the crust and is thin and crispy. I started ordering it through Amazon because the healthfood store stopped carrying it.
Those of you in the change the letter game: (Janine, Kay...) thanks for letting me join the game! It's really fun, mentally stimulating and challenging. ![]()
Have a great weekend everyone. ![]()
mmmmm....all of your food sounds so good!
Janine-congrats on being on tv again! Your a star!
Tonight my oldest daughter has a friend sleeping over. It's the first time she's ever had a friend sleep over. She was so excited. I woke up this morning to her getting the eggs and milk out to make a cake. Needless to say I got up quick and helped her. I had leftover buttercream from a cake yesterday so the girls got to decorate it themselves. They wrote on it "Girls rule, boys drule" and "boys smell". You couldn't really read what it was suppose to say though since it's difficult to pipe. My sons didn't like the comments on the cake either, but they didn't mind eating the cake.
I took them out to eat and then we picked up a few movies, they ate cake and played and are now trying to go to sleep....yeah right.
They are up there talking.
I ate 2 eggs, wheat toast and home fries tonight for dinner.
Well yup it's been a while but it's been soo hot here and keeping cool is the uppermost on my mind.
We had a ball in Melbourne at the tennis but it was hotter there than it is here it hit 44C which is hot. When we were leaving Melbourne the bushfire had started and tonight on the news we learned that 65 people have been killed due to the fires. I can't even begin to imagine how horrible that must be and how it much effects everybody involved in the rescue missions. In NSW we've had some bushfires but thankfully not to the extent of that no lives lost, so far, thank goodness.
All I can say at this time is thank goodness for our pool and air conditioning. Tonight is supposed to be a cool change it's 8.30pm and it hasn't arrived yet and then rain for the rest of the week, bring it on I say.
Well on a lighter note I've been busy with cakes and organising the kids going back to school, TAFE and University.
Can't say I've been reading the posts much as we've had lots of little hiccups with our electricity as everyone is using their air cons. They even let us use sprinklers, which due to water restrictions we haven't been able to do for a few years, to help keep cool.
So mainly our meals have been BBQ's with salad eating inside cause it's too hot even at night to eat outside.
It you all blow some cool air this way that would be great
as I'd sure be happy enough to blow hot air over to you, we have plenty to spare.
Hope you are all keeping well.
Talk again soon, when it's a bit cooler ![]()
Ok Sat. afternoon for late lunch early Supper I ordered Pizza Hut Ya I haven't had it forever. I got a large pan cheese and a large pan supreme and breadsticks..Good thing I ordered larges. Cause Mike and Jordan were extremely hungry..we only had 3 slices left when they were done and a few breadsticks left..I usually order mediums but Jord's girlfreind was here so I went with the larges..But it may have something to do with we haven't had pizza hut in forever..LOL
So Sat. night was findwhat you can to eat. My niece spent the night so Brooke and her had left over enchiladas. Jord and his girlfreind at at his work. Mike and I jsut sort of munched..
Sunday night I made scalloped potatoes and ham..I tossed some diced up carrots in it also..
Kay--we had Pizza Hut Saturday also. But there is no way just 2 larges would feed our family any more. I bought 3 and breadsticks and there are no leftovers. My older kids eat at least 2 pieces sometimes more. Kaydi can already eat 2 or 3 pieces...lol.
Yesterday we had Braum's.
Hi Everyone
Tonight was dinner out - i had chicken breasts marinaded and with that a side salad and veggies of the day - spinach and pumpikin, heinz had a cheddarmelt steak and fries and half my salad and veggies - lol jarod did the chicken and fries
We decided to grab something at a restuarant tonight, as we had one heng of a storm and the lighting hit the sub station, so since 3pm this afternoon till 7 pm tonight there was no electricity in our whole town - the storm has been horrific
Hope all are well!!!
sparklepop - keep safe
All other table family - keep safe too
Hi everyone.
Sparkle-how are you doing? I've been wondering about you with all of those fires in near by towns.
Last night was breaded chicken, asparagus with carrots, green beans with almonds, rolls, fruit salad and cake which was a hazelnut flour less cake with cherries and cream.
As soon as I can I'll post the pictures from a small photo op of desserts I did for the ACF (with my friends help).
We plated on a square plate. Made a choc. Boubon cake cut out in a tear drop cutter, covered in ganache and then topped with a tear drop cut-out from a choc. transfer pared with a strawberry sauce. 2nd dessert was a cream puff with a key lime marscapone filling drizzled with lemon-lime curd, I dusted the top with powdered sugar. The sauce was the lemon-lime curd I thinned down with coconut rum. My friend made a peach pound cake with whipping cream and caramel sugar shards.
The sauce wasn't how I wanted it for plating but it was last minute since we hit lots of road blocks.
You all will laugh at me because I got to the yacht club early to finish up my desserts and the door was locked. There was 2 other chefs (doing meat and fish dishes) who were there locked out with me. I decided I would cut out my choc. transfers while waiting. It was 28 degrees outside and I noticed that the choc. was too cold and not cutting right. I went to the van and turned the heater on. I then put the cutter in front of the heat vent to warm it up and started cutting the choc. that way. Hey, it worked.
Then inside the venue I had to make my ganache. I heated up the cream and poured it over the choc. then covered it with saran wrap. Set it aside for a few minutes and came back to whisk it. The kitchen was so cold the choc. didn't melt. The choc. nibs melted slightly and then hardened in a giant glob. I had to put it over a gas burner to heat up the bottom of the bowl (burner hardly worked) added a little more cream and it took a long time to finally get smooth. As soon as I put it on the cake it was trying to set before I could hardly smooth it. Ended up heating up an offset spatula to smooth out the ganache a little better.
My friend made a peach pound cake that that she used food coloring in to make it more peach colored. It turned bright in color. She called it 70's wallpaper because of the color and then the shape of the peaches on top. She totally saved it though because she heated it up and poured peach liquor over it. It was great.
Anyways, I'll tell you all here (and only here) that the presentation at the yacht club was just for one person from the newspaper. She writes a gourmet column. I walked out and put the plate down and she knew my name (even new that the last name started with a K and not a C like it sounds). I was surprised she remembered who I was let alone how to spell my name. I was happy from that, kind of makes me feel like I'm not wasting my time after all.
It all turned up well in the end. I'm happy with how it turned out considering we hit more road blocks than this, but I'll plate differently next time.
Well we haven't staved but it has been alittle crazy here..
So for valentines day I made steaks, baked potatoes, salad, french bead.
Sunday Mike had a salad, Brooke had some left over taco salad
Monday Mike had sandwiches and Brooke ate at a friends house
Tonight I made meatloaf and cheesy mashed potatoes for Brooke and Mike had cheeseburgers.
I will catch up later
No....not starving. Hope all of you are well.
Melissa your AFC desserts sounded wonderful. I'm not surprised that anyone would remember you. Your good at what you do and your a kind person. Good for you!
Dinner last night was a pork loin roasted on the grill, potatoes with onions and carrots also cooked on the grill.
Tonight I made turkey smoked sausage, green beans, potatoes, sour kraut, and corn bread muffins.
Talk to you all soon.
Melissa~ Congrats! Please do post those pics, because I'm sure we'd all love to see them. You are an awesome person... you've inspired me to keep pushing myself (dispite lack of access to formal training) to become a vegan chef / pastry chef. You rock!! ![]()
tonight's fare~
Sweet Potato Crepes with Cilantro-Tamarind sauce...(getting fancy, huh?)
I'll catch up with everyone soon. My head is all over the place right now trying to jump-start my business from the economic slump...
I hope everyone is doing well. ![]()
Thanks everyone for the kind words. You have no idea how much you all at the table mean to me. Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time in the culinary field and you all just remind me to keep pushing forward.
All of your food sounds wonderful! I love cheesy mashed potatoes Kay.
Ohara- The meal you had sound right up my alley.
K2- Look at you getting all fancy! Way to go. I'd love to have some of your recipes so I could impress my MIL.
The only problem I see with all of your meals is I'm not eating them.
Tonight was chili. I make mine with lots of kidney beans and angus stew meat that I cut smaller. It takes usually around 4 hours or more to cook to develop all the flavor. I top it with a shredded cheddar cheese. I really like this chili but the heartburn after wards not so much. I always have my beloved carbs on hand for dipping. This time it was asiago cheese artisan bread. Yep, bring on the calories!!!!!
All of you have a great night....glad to see you are all not starving.

Could I please have someone's recipe for those "cheesy mashed potatos?" I can veganize and my family would LOVE it!!!
tonight~
Crusted spinach and herb tofu burgers (homemade)
micro green salad
Crazy as this sounds, I've been tossing around the idea of taking advantage of "public access Tv" and doing a vegan cooking show...
NO one would watch, so there wouldn't be any need to be nervous. Why not put on some quality TV with all the crap TV that's on? ![]()
I'd watch it K2 if I was in your area. I think that's a great idea! Go for it!
squeezing into my old cheerleading skirt. Oops....just popped the zipper.
Oh well, "RAH, RAH,RAH---GO KRISTI, GO KRISTI--HEY, HEY, GO KRISTI!"
Janine-Thanks for the kind words, but you all have no idea how much you all inspire me.
My daughter has been sick for the last 5 days. Today her fever is gone but she is very achy. I hope no one else gets it. I have a surprise 40th anniversary party for my mom and dad next weekend. I'm making part of the food and the wedding cake on top of decorating. I can't be sick.
Hope you are all doing well! I love my table sisters!
Tonight was leftover chili with bread and organic red grapes.
