My son just turned 7 earlier this month. He's extremely bright. Considered a genius, but socially and emotionally is where his issue is. He also takes everything very literally. I wouldn't trade him for the world though, I love him just how he is.
Shelle_75 & dmich ~ welcome aboard!!
Everytime I come to dinner there are new places set. Fantastic!
tonight~
Tuscan Chickpea soup w/rosemary, rice pasta & spinach.
YUM!
I'm about to make some tea and finish my Life Time movie about something awful and frightening... "Cries in the Dark", a true story, so I'm sure I'll have nightmares. Although, because of the tea at 11pm, I'll probably be up every hour to pee, so maybe that will stop the dreams... ![]()
If I've missed anyone who's new to the table, I'm sorry and I extend a very warm WELCOME! ![]()
Kay....thanks for sharing Jordan's prom pictures! They look great together. Love the colors in her dress. I'm glad they had such a good time. Jordan needed something good, with everything going on with Peyton. Any updates on Peyton?
K2, I finally bought some of the Stash green tea. My DH and I both really like it. You'll have t keep us posted on the food festival. Sounds like a great event.
Mkolmar....are the cupcakes for Friday or Saturday? Where are you going in Florida? We usually go every March, but not this year. I know what you mean about your younges son being so literal....I remember when Lizzie was younger and she was telling me something, but she was struggling with the word as she was so excited to tell me. Well I say to her " spit it out"....so she looked at me and spit! ha,ha! (before we had a diagnoses) She makes me laugh out loud all the time. I wouldn't trade her for anything in the world!
dmich welcome to the table. It's nice to have you! Our youngest daughter (12) also has Aspergers. I also thank you for all you and your DH do!
Shelle_75 a big welcome to you as well! Your dinner sounds good!
The baby is doing well (for the newbies, my DH and I are foster parents, and have been for 14 years and we have a new baby in the house.)
He is almost 4 weeks old now. He is growing so much. I think he should start smiling soon. The case worker is coming today...I'm hoping to have a better idea of how long he will be with us after she's been here...but then again maybe not! ha
Dinner...last night was left over pork chops and stuffing for the family....I went out for a couple of hours with my girlfriends. It was nice to get a way....even just for a short time. I had grilled chicken with grilled veggies.
Have a great day ladies!
Thanks so much for all of the warm welcomes. We're heading off to my son's soccer game in a little while. It is a beautiful Spring day here - perfect for being outside at a park!
We had some friends over for our weekly pizza night last night. I made Thai chicken pizza (peanut sauce, chicken, carrots, red peppers, cilantro, peanuts) and it turned out really well. For dessert, I made an apple and blueberry crisp, topped with vanilla ice cream. My husband was in heaven b/c he loves anything that's remotely similar to a fruit pie.
Enjoy the first day of Spring!
The cupcakes were delivered to the school on Friday. I needed a few days to recoup between that and taking the kids to the circus.
I got a call today saying everything went over very well today for the school (whew). I made just slightly under 300 cupcakes with BC and chocolate music notes for decoration plus about 300 cookies and a plate of truffles.
Kay-Your son is handsome. He and his girlfriend look so cute together. Love the black and blue color combo.
Ohara-Glad to hear the baby is doing well. Hope you got good news from the case worker.
We'll be leaving for Orlando in about 2 weeks. This will be the first time taking the kids on a real vacation.
K2--Tuscan Chickpea soup sound fabulous! Your food always sounds so healthy and good.
Everyone else -- Hope you are all doing great!
Tonight was brats, chicken breast, roasted asparagus, potatoes, spicy pasta and macaroni and cheese. I started classes again tonight. I'll be going 1 day a week. I'm trying to get my certification certificate so I can advance and go for my ACF certificate in my field. Not easy to do, but I'll try anyways.
Tonight was taters au gratin casserole.
Easy Peasy stuff is on our menu now.
Hello everyone
I can't believe spring is finally here!!!
Tonight's Dinner...
Soylent green! (just kidding)
Vegan noodle soup...yum! (recipe anyone? It practically makes itself)
Melissa~ You cupcake MACHINE!!! I make a dozen and I want to crawl under the couch. Oh, I found vegan bratwurst (yeah... I'm German so out of curiosity I looked.) It's existance (however delicious) is second in weirdness only to the vegan Haggis we had in Scotland. ![]()
Ich aß vegetarische gebratene Wurst und überlebte. (I'm a bit rusty...)
dmich~ could I please have your Thai pizza recipe? Don't worry about the chicken, I can use vegan chicken... it sounds delicious with all those ingredients!!! ![]()
Ohara ~ I'm glad you are enjoying the Stash... I'm an official Tea-Snob now, thanks to Stash loose teas. They've spoiled me for anything else. Tea of 1000 Charms & Dragonwell are my favorites. ![]()
kay~ those are nice pics of your son and girlfriend.
Shelle_75~ just a heads-up. I'm not insane or anything... I just have a weird sense of humor and tend to write these late at night.
I'm glad you joined the table.
I can't believe my beloved "Battlestar Gallactica" is over...
The one show (besides Dr. Who) I just couldn't miss, and now David Tennant's leaving Dr. Who...
Oh the humanity.... ![]()
K2- look at the food network's Rachael Ray's recipes. She has a Thai chicken pizza recipe that I use (but tweaked of course).
One of my fav pizza's (not crazy to much about pizza) is a thin crust BBQ chicken with cilantro pizza or a 5 cheese Italian style.
I'm not too much of a meat eater anymore. I prefer fattening sweets instead. ![]()

Hi Janine--thanks for clearing the table off for us and setting up all the dishes. How did the comp. cake turn out? I hope everything went well.
Everyone else--hope you are all doing fabulous and getting ready for Easter.
Tonight was baked chicken, tomato soup, crackers, french pizza and chicken gumbo. It was a grab what you want night. I had class so anything that was easy to do was what we had.
The ACF dinner went well. I won't go into all the horrid details about prepping for it. Lets just say the kids who were suppose to help didn't. Leaving me and my friend to do everything. The truck order didn't come in on time (was 1 day late) so the kitchen we were going to use with commercial equipment was no longer available. I had to bake everything at home....just got done baking my cakes when the heating element went out. AAHHHH. Still had more baking to do so I was up a creek, but it all got done. I had a mental break down along the way. Promised that I would quit the field because it's not worth the stress and how my desserts looked horrid. they were served, even though I hated them. They all like them
Said how pretty they looked. The newspaper columnist who was there pulled me aside and talked to me about my future plans and where can she buy my desserts. When I told her I don't have a licensed kitchen anymore she said she'll look for me one *probably all lip service, but nice comment none the less*. The chef who gave me a hard time last year came up and asked me to come teach a few days at his school. Said the chef association chapter has not had a strong pastry chef in a very long time and it's refreshing to know that they have one again. That I proved myself to him and others.
(considering this was my 3rd year running the dessert station I would hope so! This year was a plated sit down served dessert where the last 2 years were buffet style--big difference as far as elegance goes.)
I did have a few students helping on the day of the event. Some were helpful, some not so much. I just tried taking my time to explain things which took up a lot of my time. I could have got it done faster, but it was about teaching the students how to do things and I was glad to have 2 girls that really were interested (the boys not so much). They never seen a few things being done so it was kind of nice to watch them learn.
Anyways, I'm still tired from it so I'm gonna go to bed. Have a good night everyone!
My baby girl turned FOUR on saturday
I can't believe the amazing little person we've created... When she was born, she threw her arms in the air as if to say: "TA DA!" Her eyes were bright and wide, like that of an old soul and she cried on her own. It amazed the surgeons. I honestly believe babies are born with all the knowledge they will ever need. Interacting with the world erases that knowledge bit by bit as they relearn through other people. I believe this because there was and is just so much behind her eyes.
~ I think of these things because she started choking today and we thought she was going to lose conciousness. I stood there, holding her shirt as she tried to hide from embarassment (as people do when they choke), feeling helpless, waiting to see if she could get air before attempting the heimlich meneuver. Luckily it didn't come to that, but it scared me beyond words. I think I'm going to let her sleep with me tonight, I really want to hold her. ![]()
Food~
rice pasta
tom-sage sauce and veg sausage
oven roasted garlic broccoli
Thanks for reading my long winded post. Sometimes it hits me so hard how incredible children are and how lucky I am to be her Mom.
Oh my gosh Kristi. I absolutely hate it when kids choke. Scares me horribly. I know CPR/AED/Oxygen and first aid. When something happens to my kids I have a heard time remembering it. I go into mommy mode and go "My baby!" Then a second later I snap into action. Still so scary, sorry it happened to you. (((BIG HUG))).
Happy b-day to your little girl!!!

Congrats on the win Janine. So many of table sisters are competing and are so talented. Your cake was awesome by the way! It's in my fav's now.
Yesterday was soup with sandwiches and crackers. I'm trying not to cook or buy too much food, but get rid of the stuff we have since we leave on vacation in 2 days. I don't want a bunch of food to go to waste.
Tonight will be something quick and easy. Probably breakfast food and tomorrow will be pizza.
Hello table friends.
Life is busy here....just like usual. Youngest DD on spring break this week, which means that NOTHING gets done this week. LOL. We went to the zoo the other day. She and I had a great time.
The baby is still here and growing bigger every day. I think he will be here until the first part of May. Not sure thought.
I gave blood today. It's one of the easiest things I do to help others. If only helping was always so easy!!
Janine....your cake is amazing! I will tell people I knew her when.... ![]()
K2....when my son was only 2 1/2, my sister took him to the fair while I was at work. I got the worst feeling in the middle of the day. I just knew something awful had happened. Later I found out that he choked on a hot dog. My sister and her boyfriend both knew the heimlich meneuver and tried but it didn't work. They had to run with him in their arms up to the paramedic's station. They actually had to use their equipment, and reach in and remove the hot dog, as it was so lodged in there they couldn't get it out! We were so blessed that my sister kept her wits about her! My kids never got a hot dog not cut down the middle again. They are just the perfect size to block their airway. I am so glad that your daughter is fine.
Mkolmar....I hope you have the best time on your vacation. We love going to Orlando. I can't wait to hear all about it!
Your ACF dinner sounded great! I know you did a great job. What else would you do?!!!!
Kay....where are you?? I am wondering what's going on in you part of this world? I hope all is well with you.
Sparkle....How are things down under?
Juju...I hope all is well with you. It must be about time for that new bundle of joy. Keep us posted. (((((hugs)))))
We are eating here....
Last night was eggs and english muffins and banana's
Tuesday I didn't cook as I was with DD at the zoo.
Monday....I grilled hamburgers. We had oven fries with them, as well as steamed carrots.
Tonight I am grilling pork chops. I am also making fresh green beans with little new potatoes. YUM!
Take care friends.
I am at the hospital under observation for high blood pressure and low fluids. I'll update if I get to have her.
Well I'm still here
just lots of annoying things been happening, but that's life right??? Our Anniversary weekend was really great very relaxing and no expense was spared
very unusual for my DH. But as always when you go away you always hit the ground running. My youngest DS got pneumonia 2 days after we got back, it just hit him, quick as. Off to the Drs, X-rays etc and just found out today he's pneumonia has not cleared at all in his lungs and it's been over a week so had to go to a peadiatrician(?) who said it could be virual pneumonia and could take up to 4 weeks to clear
. He's supposed to be getting braces on his teeth next week so I hope that can still go ahead. DH has just got the all clear for his pneumonia
.
Tomorrow I'll be decorating Easter eggs with the Guild. Each year we go to a school that has mentally handicapped children and make special Easter eggs for them with they're name and decorate them with bunnies and other cute Eastery type of things. A real feel good thing to do.
Butterflyjuju - hope everything goes well for you
Ohara - that baby is so lucky to have you give it a good start in life
Janine - Way to go girl ![]()
1st prize, I'll check it out later, there is a cue up for the computer.
mkolmar - I cannot believe what you've been up to, how do you manage to do so much. Enjoy Florida.
Tonight we had Chicken Kiev, chips and peas
Most of our meals have been meat with vegies as my son had a reaction to his antibiotics with the "runs" so we're keeping to a bland diet except for tonight, so will see how he goes.
Have a good one guys
Sparkle--glad to have you back at the table and to read that you had a very good anniversary. I hope your family gets better soon though, my goodness is that a long time for them to be sick.
Tonight we are having 4 cheese pizza with fruit and some of the kids are drinking hot chocolate. It's starting to get very cold here at home again.
The weather men are talking snow....thank goodness I'll miss it because we leave tomorrow for Florida.
I hope you all have a wonderful week and a fabulous Easter!
I love my table sisters!

congratualtions JuJu... she's beautiful.
Sparkle~ glad you're back and you had a nice anniversary.
Ohara~ I bet that baby is getting cuter by the day! Once they hit 2 months, all the character starts to develop (laugh...). I miss mine being so small, but she's such a great kid and a fun toddler.
Kay~ how are you doing?
Janine~ that cake is something else... did you keep it or was it actually cake?
tonight was~
rice pasta
homemade sauce & veggie crumbles
oven roasted broccoli
I'm going to have some stash tea in a few minutes. I can't go to bed without my little relaxation ritual. I just love loose teas!
Have a good night everyone and stay safe! ![]()
I took the baby to the doctors yesterday for his 6 week check up and first set of shots. He now weighs 8lb and 14oz, and is 20" long. The doctor said he is healthy. He is starting to coo....one of my favorite things.
DH has an interview on Friday morning. Please all keep us in your prayers and good thoughts. I know that he would really love to get this job, but I'm sure that there are many others interviewing and wanting it as well.
K2....I don't know when I last had hot tea in the evening. As soon as that last bottle is done, it's off to bed with me. It's is such a relaxing way to end the day, with a cup of hot tea.
Have one for me.
The baby is starting to sleep longer some nights, so I hope that it won't be too long till I can change up bed times.
Sparkle...I'm glad you had a lovely anniversary. I hope all of yours are starting to be healthy again. I know how that wears on the Mom!
We are in spring and headed towards summer. It has been a crazy spring. Still cool here. Hopefully in a couple more weeks, warmer weather will come and stay. ![]()
Juju....I hope all is going well with that beautiful new baby.
Janine, I know your busy but I hope you and yours are well.
Kay...(((((HUGS))))
I hope Mkolmar is having warm sunny days on her vacation! I can't wait to hear all about it!
Monday it was so cold here I made sausage stew
Tuesday I made a pot roast, steamed carrots, green beans and new potatoes.
Last night we had leftovers. I got home late afternoon after the baby's doctors appointment. I had no idea what we were going to have and DH tells me he and oldest son had take out for lunch and wasn't very hungry. Ok with me....I like easy!
Today I think I will cook a pork roast on the grill. It is one of my favorites.
I hope you all have a GREAT day!
Hey yall
Sorry I have been MIA..I was very busy getting ready for the consignment sale I do every year. But on April first my Grandma past away. We were very close and it shool me up abit. She has been bad for sometime now. And I knew it was coming but it still got to me.. But she is no longer in pain ans at peace..
On to good news I see there is a new cute little table baby.. JUJU she is so adorable.. Give her bunch of kisses for me..
Well what did we eat..tonight was chicken over biscuits
Wed. was taco salad
I will try to catch up later.. Thanks for the ((HHHUUUGGGSS)) Jen..
Well back again and Happy Easter to everyone at the table. hope no ones been eating too many Easter Eggs
. It's Good Friday here and we are doing the right thing and eating fish. Yup we had baked marinated salmon with english spinach and salad, yummo. Tomorrow we are going to the local gourmet food markets, just love going to those things. Unfortunately don't get to go that often cause my Guild meetings are usually on the same weekend but tomorrow we're off. Will let you know what goodies I come home with
. I can already tell you breakfast will be Port Cured Bacon and egg roll (sigh, delicious) and a wonderful hot chocolate (I love gourmet food markets
).
My youngest DS poor little mite is still recovering from pneumonia and then he got braces on his teeth on Thursday and he's having trouble eating. He's a skinny minny so I've bought some chocolate custard, making rice pudding, Jelly and ice cream. Luckily the school has a break of 2 weeks for Easter so hopefully his teeth won't be too sore when he goes back.
Well our weekend is looking like rain thankfully from tomorrow arvo (which won't effect the gourmet food market
). So I hope the Easter Bunny doesn't get too wet
. My DB is coming over on Sunday with his tribe and I hope we can have a spa otherwise I think his kids will be very disappointed.
K2 whats stash tea, I love loose leaf tea's too but haven't heard of that one, maybe we call it something else.
Ohara sending good thoughts to you, hope your DH gets the job
, we won't worry about the others cause we don't know them
. It's very hard at the moment here as well, my DH is losing hours at his job which obviously means money as well. Hopefully more cakes will come my way to balance it out.
Kay sorry about the loss of your Grandma, it's never easy to let go even when you know they were in pain in this life (((HUGS)))
HAPPY EASTER, WATCH OUT FOR THE EASTER BUNNY ![]()
