icon_biggrin.gif Well thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone and K2 I had to turn the computer down you were singing soo loudly icon_lol.gif maybe you should quit your day job and go on America's Got Talent, you'd blitz it. I had the best day, the kids, DH and my best friend went on a River Cat to a beautiful seafood restaurant with the best view ever. We had seafood of course I shared a hot and cold seafood platter with my DD and we all shared a dessert pizza with strawberries, banans, marscopone cheese and maple syrup. Oh and don't worry I had a glass of wine for everyone icon_wink.gif . Then we caught the River Cat home. What a day! But you will laugh no one thought to buy a cake, no one would ever consider making one, probably cause it's my job icon_lol.gif . So I had another glass of wine icon_biggrin.gif .

My youngest DS who had pneumonia has just got the all clear party.gif now DD has the flu, I'm trying very hard to stay away from her, cause in a couple of weeks I'm going to a cake decorating seminar icon_biggrin.gif

Welcome to the table jimandmollie our table is like elastic it stretches to accommodate more and shrinks when life gets in the way of a chat. Hope everything goes well for your son.

ohara sad about the job but you never know what tomorrow will bring. Can your DH do any courses to help him diversify in his job looking? My DH did a part time college course and now he's teaching at college. It also makes him feel like he's achieving something.

mkolmar let me know how the vanilla works out are you tempted to keep smelling it?

Kay hope you've caught up with your sleep.

Tonight we had lamb chops, cauliflower au gratin, filled pasta carbonara, carrots and squash.

Talk again soon

Sparkle, the good news is that he has always done training and classes to keep his skills very current. He has a very diverse job skill set. I know that something will come along. I just don't know when.

I hope you all have a good day!

(((((HUGS)))))
Can't wait to hear all about it.

Last night was leftovers. I took my daughter to check out Special Olympics. Her teacher asked if we might like to come. I didn't even think about her qualifying to participate. But she does. There was a guy 21 with Aspergers there. It was great getting to talk to his mom. My daughter loved it and so I guess in the middle of May she will run part of the relay race in a meet. Funny the twists and turns life takes.....

Hi Everyone!
Juju-glad to read you and the baby are doing well.
Ohara-I'm shocked your daughter can be in special olympics also. Yep, life does sure give everyone lots of twists and turns. Make sure to tell us how she does! Oh and if possible post or email us pics. I'd love to see them.
Kay--Hope you have fun at the wedding!
Sparkle-- Cake, what cake? Who needs cake when you can have a good glass of wine!

It was 78 here today so I made sure to grill out some.
We had Burgnady mushroom marinated NY strip steaks and plain NY strip steaks, cajun shrimp and butter-garlic shrimp, sauted green pepper with onion, seasoned red skinned roasted potatoes, honey glazed carrots and beer bread. (my dad and nephew came over to eat so that's why there was shrimp. DH and I don't eat it.)

Saturday was grilled chicken and salad. We went to my mom and dad's to eat.

Sunday I cooked dinner for us and a few other family members. There was all beef hot dogs (no nitrates), chicken-spinach-feta brats, jalepano-cheese brats and bacon cheddar brats, carrots, grilled eggplant, grilled corn on the cob with a butter-cheese-herb spread I made, apple sauce, creamy cajun chicken pasta, sauted mushrooms with caramelized onion.
Dessert was puff pastry layered and filled with a vanilla pudding/sweetened heavy cream mixture and sliced strawberries that was dusted with powdered sugar and chocolate-chocolate chip cookies.

I have class tonight so it will be something easy.

My uncle had knee surgery and that night his BP dropped down to only 44! They hooked him up to some kind of machine and then forgot him being hooked up to it until many hours later. This is the hospital that doesn't have the best reputation. I can see why. Anyways, he's home now and doing alright.

Hope you all have a lovely day! The sun is out here and it's pretty nice out.

Saturday was DH's "famous" baked dinner we had marinated chicken, with any vegetable we had baked, hmm some work, some don't icon_lol.gif

ohara - does that mean I have to buy an American flag for the special Olympics icon_biggrin.gif how cool is that
Kay - enjoy your weekend away
mkolmar - what a "brat" over here it's an unruly child but I forgive you for eating them if I can have some dessert, that sounds like my idea of heaven

I can't believe that it's been a week since I posted. We have eaten...lol!

We have had yellow rice with chicken in it....
BBQ ribs and pork chops done on the grill with roasted potatoes and onions
Ham with home made macaroni and cheese

Oh....and my husband and I went out to dinner one night!! That was so nice. We didn't go anywhere fancy, and we had a special coupon...but it was so nice not to have to cook dinner.

I seem to make so much of everything I cook that we have had left overs two different evenings. I just made a different side dish and fresh veggies.
I cooked corn on the cob twice this week, as our grocery has it on sale. I also cut some off the cob for later.

The weather has been cruddy here this week. Maybe the weekend will be better. We did need rain though, so I guess it was for the best.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hey juju what's a ziti, not heard of that one before and bread rolls in a tin icon_eek.gif ours come in plastic bags. I reckon you are all trying to confuse the token Aussie icon_lol.gif

mkolmar I'm just coming to your house for dessert choc pudding AND angel food cake, yummo.

ohara it never matters how fancy the restaurant is, it's always nice to go out for dinner.

Last night was take away chicken and chips cause my hayfever felt yuck.
During the week we've had steak and stir fry vegetables with noodles, Chicken maregano with mashed potato and pumpkin, carrots and peas and T-bone steak with stir fry vegetables. I'm doing a lot of stir fry vegies at the moment as I find my youngest will eat little bits of vegies but baulks when faced with a lot of them.

Well I'm out this morning to help work on a seminar cake we've got just under 2 weeks left and we're putting the finishing touches on.

Ok well it is next week. And it was a weird weekend last weekend. Weddings was alot of fun. But it was overshadowed by Sunday afternoon. When devastation hit again to our family. My uncle first born to my G-Ma who past. Died in a motorcycle wreck. But they determined it was health related. It has been a crazy week.. I will post alittle later about his Amazing funeral. When I tell you all what happened you will understand why it was amazing. For a funeral I took great comfort in his final farwell.. It was beautiful..

Ok right now I can't even begin to tell you what we ate except for tonight I made lasagna..

I will try to get back here tomorrow..

Kay I am so sorry for your loss. You have been on my heart all week and now I know why. (((((HUGS)))))

Yes it is nice to go out and not have to cook, no matter where we go.

Today DH and I have training for Children Services. We do training hours each year to keep our license current. We have a lunch break, and we used to run out and get fast food and bring it back....but a year or so ago I decided wouldn't it be much more relaxing to bring our lunch and not have to rush out. It makes the day a little nicer.

Sparkle....I hope you feel better soon. It's awful when allergies are flaring up. We are in full blown spring...so allergies are bad here right now.

Melissa, do you make your own angle food cake? Cheese pizza sounds so good. I have been wanting pizza for a while now.

Juju....glad to hear that you and the baby are doing well. Is she sleeping much for you?

K2....where are you girl?

Janine....hang on....I'll give your chair a quick dusting....
now isn't that better? We miss you....and your clean chair is waiting
icon_wink.gif Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Gotta run ladies....I have to have us out of the house and the baby dropped off by 8:15am, so we can get downtown before 9:00am.

Oh yes....dinner last night was fried ham, eggs and pancakes.

Kay, my prayers are with you. Isn't it funny how a funeral can sometimes be so unreal. My grandfather was a prankster and when he passed away he had one more prank for us. It was a completely clear day with not a cloud in the sky. The air was calm and everything was so still. At the point when they were lowering the casket and the preacher was saying his last prayer, a gust of wind blew through and almost took the tent with it. There were about 10 people hanging onto it and we could barely hold it down. It stopped as quick as it started and we all looked at each other and knew he was fine. Not one of us doubted it was him and he was laughing his butt off!

So this week has been crazy. My little boy turned 6 yesterday and I made a lightening mcqueen cake for him. He loved it and I have to say it didn't turn out too awful bad. We had a small party at grandma's house with pizza. I had to order some cupcakes from WalMart (*shudder*) for his class party on Monday because homemade is not allowed. We are waiting a couple of weeks for his real party. We want to have it at the park and are waiting for the weather to get a bit nicer. I will upload some pics of the cake in a bit.....

Dinner the last few nights has been pizza, grilled cheeses and soup, and shrimp stir fry. I did get off my rear end long enough this morning to make homemade sugar donuts. They were ok. I think I like the ones made from Pillsbury biscuits better! I think I might make some pork chops tonight. Maybe some pasta and green beans to go along with it. mmmmmm

This week is going to be busy. I am going to make a cake for Teacher Appreciation week on Friday and an Eeyore cake for an International Order of Rainbow Girls installation of officers on Saturday. (That's a Masonic Youth Group)

Just wanted to stop by the table. I am not sure how much I will be on over the next 2 weeks. Graduations are here for the next 2 weeks.. So we will be slammed at work..I usually only work 3 days a week about 3 to 4 hours each day. Unless we are busy like now. I will work 5 days a week and 5 to 7 hours a day.. I will be one hurtin girl.. My hands and feet will be hurtin real bad..I am thankful for the hours though..

So tonight for supper was roast, potatoes, carrots, celery. I put it all in crockpot and tried to relax.. I have no idea what we will eat for the next few LOL

But the funeral was beautiful... My uncle Bobby was a Vietnam vet. He was a biker also. He had built his tryke and painted it patriotic.. He was a big prankster and a very casual kind of guy. No dressing up for him.. So for the funeral we were asked to dress in Motorcycle gear or Sturgis shirts and Jeans..As you walked into the church there were his fellow bike riders (Patrioit riders) all holding flags. The service was a great one. The minister talked real soft so the had turned the volume up on the speakers. So when they started in on the slide show of goofy pics of him (his nickname was GOOF).. The intro was a reving Motorcycle so when it started it was LOUD we all started laughing.. cause we knew it was saying hey I am still here with ya.. Then the music Bad to the Bone started with the pics.. Then instead of a hearst the family chose to carry his ashes (in his guncase) on his tryke. His tryke was driven by his best friend. On the tryke with him was Bobby's son and daughter. His son was holding his ashes. Directly behind the tryke was his Brother on his own tryke. Followed by over 50 motorcycles. Behind them were my Aunt and other family in a SUV. Then my Mom and stepdad. Then was my twin nephews and my son with there 3 big trucks with flags on there whip antannas. They were followed by the rest of us 6 miles of vehicles traveled down the highway to cemetary 13 miles away.. It was a beautiful sight.. People were pulling over and saluting as we passed.. At the cemetary they did the military gun salute and one of his nieces played taps.. It was also very still during the service. Then right after a breeze kicked up and blew petals from the trees down on all of us... And then stopped.. Once again it was him saying "Toodles for now..." That was what he always said. Never goodby but always Toddles....

Thanks for reading this... It felt good telling about this beautiful thing.

Kay- I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm glad the funeral was beautiful and full of love.

Tonight will be grilled chicken on chiabata bread (with bbq sauce for DH), grilled corn on the cob, carrots and soup with bread.

Yesterday was grilled bacon wrapped filet mignon, sauted red-green bell peppers with onion and mushrooms, italian bread, feta puffs and strawberry napoleaons for dessert.

The day before was mac and cheese, veggies and cheese pizza. DH had sweetened crepes filled with a lemon-key lime curd, sprinkled with powdered sugar and topped with warm blueberries.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

We are eating at our house. I would swear to you all that cooking and washing dishes is what I do all the time.

Let's see if I can remember what I cooked this past week....

I made a new ham and noodle casserole...it was ok but dry. We had lots leftover so I made a cheese sauce and reheated it with the cheese sauce mixed in. They liked it much better. icon_wink.gif

We had taco salads one night and pizza and salad another.
Tonight was left overs...DH had Mexican, DD had pizza and I had a salad.
I also made a pineapple upside down cake.

I am hoping that the weather is better here this next week and I get to use my grill more.

I also wish you all a Happy Mothers Day!

Hi everyone. Kay, I'm so sorry for your loss. (((( BIG HUGS ))))

(this may depress you... so beware)

Things here have been unreal. Last week one of my husband's co-workers lost her young son unexpectedly. They still don't know why he died. He had a migraines one day, massive heart attacks the next few days and then was brain dead. There was no time for the family to even say goodbye. It hit my husband really hard because he went to the funeral and had never seen a child size casket. We both still feel very selfish because we keep thinking about our own little girl and how fast life can change.

Sorry for dragging down the dinner mood. I guess my dinner etiquette could use some work. I hope everyone is well and I'll catch up with you all soon.

Lots of love. icon_smile.gif
