K2- no hiring necessary, I'd do it for free.

Yesterday we took all the kids to the amusement park so I really don't want to mention all the fatty - gross food we ate. We tried to eat healthy but it's impossible there.

Tonight was leftover filet mignon that was bacon wrapped, sliced and seasoned red skinned potatoes, carrots, grilled bread, and cinnamon baked apples.

I don't eat much meat anymore so I had soup and bread.

I was hoping that with summer our busy lives would slow down. Not so here!

DD ran for Special Olympics this last weekend. It was the end of the track season, so it was the state games. There were over 2500 athletes from all over the state. It was so awesome. We were there Friday for about 9 hours, Saturday for about 8 hours and Sunday we were there for 5 hours. It was HOT....but it didn't matter. She had the time of her life. What a great experience Special Olympics has been for her. She ran the 100 meter...and finished 3rd so she got a bronze medal. Then she did softball throw...and finished 2nd ...silver medal. Sunday was the 4x100 relay...our girls finished first.....so she got a gold medal! She was so excited!!!!

Eating wasn't much there as it was so hot. We had sandwiches mostly.

Last night we had suqash and zuchinni in pasta with grilled pork chops.

The baby turned 4 months old. This week we are getting his older brother. He is 20 months old. I have no idea how that will go. The agency wants the brothers in the same home...so we said we would take him. I'll let you know how it goes.

Melissa you are supposed to eat junk at the park...the only thing I get to eat at Cedar point is an elephant ear. I love them.

K2...summer colds are the worst! I woke up with a sore throat a week ago today and I'm still sick. I will be so glad when I'm over this. I hope you don't get it full blown!
I love risotto...yum

I hope everyone else is fine. Have a great day ladies.

Just found this thread, very interesting....

I made Spicy Brown Sugar Bacon Wrapped Chicken Breast, Steamed Broccoli, Mac N Cheese. Nice color combos and pretty simple to make.

getting lots of ideas for dinner for the rest of the week. Have picky kids who are so boring is horrible. Can't wait to mix it up a bit.

Any ideas for when its blistering hot outside - i think the 100+ heat wave is over but 97 is still too hot to cook

Tonight was meatless sauce over mulit-grain noodles, steamed broccoli, toasted sliced artisian bread drizzled in olive oil and served with sauce and sprinkled cheese for dipping. My daughter made a choc. box cake with canned icing for dessert, and yes, I ate a piece and told her how much I LOVED it. icon_wink.gif

I'm getting ready to slice up some fresh mozzarella and put it in a balsamic vinegar for tomorrow to be sliced up with fresh tomatoes, and fresh basil to be tossed in an italian dressing. I'll do grilled chicken also with some sauted mushrooms, onions and red bell pepper.

Have to be up for work early, hope you all have a wonderful night.

Welcome aboard, pinkflower1212 icon_smile.gif

When it's super hot, we do a lot of soymilk smoothies. Very filling but won't bloat your stomach in the heat. ~ Frozen fruit (acts as ice), add 1 cup of "milk" (I'm vegan, but use what you want). Blend until thick but smooth.

Tonight was~
Indian Food (YES!!!!!!) icon_biggrin.gif
Dal Shorba Soup
Malai Kofta (veg fritters in tomato-ey sauce)
jasmine rice
papadams w/ hot mixed pickle

I've run myself ragged and am paying the price. My throat is on fire (I should be in bed right now, but Mom's don't stop to be sick), my neck is stiff and I feel really weird, like I'm floating above myself. ?? I've now booked 4 weddings for Aug which is good, but I'm not fully "in the zone" yet and am freaking out about time management for those two weeks! icon_surprised.gif
Ever worry that you'll screw up someone's wedding and Bridezilla will hunt you down? ...just wondering. I was so laid back for my wedding, but people can become monsters over a wedding. I think I'll put up a post on my site: NO Bridezillas allowed (or Groomzillas, or MOMzillas). Life's too short to be treated like dirt over flour and sugar. icon_razz.gif

I hope to catch up with you all soon. Take care all! icon_smile.gif

Welcome Pinkflower!

Kay I hope you have a great time at the water park! You deserve some fun down time. How is Mike doing?

Melissa that is a long day, you must be tired. Are you still liking the job?

K2 are you feeling any better? My cold is better...still feeling it, but not as bad. And that's a good thing. As you said...it doesn't matter if the Mom gets sick...she just has to keep going.

We will cook out on the 4th. First in the early afternoon for our oldest and some of his friends. His birthday is July 4th!
Then he and his friends are going to see the Columbus Crew play soccer. (our MLS team) Our son is a huge soccer fan and really enjoys going to the games. On the 4th they will do fireworks at the stadium after the game.
Then after he and his friends leave some of our friends are coming over. We will eat again. LOL

We are having Bratz, hot dogs, hamburgers, macaroni salad, baked beans, chips, green fluffy salad and Mississippi mud.
Sounds yummy....would sound much yummier if it was all already fixed and I didn't have to fix it all. Actually I don't mind making every bit of it...I just hate cleaning up after myself when I'm cooking like that. I will finish cooking and have every dish in the house dirty. Ha!

The older brother came on Tuesday. So far things are going well. It was just a crazy busy week. Hopefully things will settle down soon...but I'm not expecting it to.

This weeks dinners....

grilled pork chops with squash and zuchinni mixed in pasta

pepper steak with rice, sweet corn, cottage cheese and french bread

beef stroganoff with noodles, peas and bread

burritos with refried beans and taco chips

bbq chicken, green beans, little red potatoes steamed and cresent rolls

I have no idea for tonight...I will cook a good part of the day only to get ready for tomorrow.

Sending out hugs to all our missing table family...

I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!

Alright everyone it's been a little bit since I last posted. I know you all must be very busy.
Congrats to your daughter Ohara, what a great job!
K2-hope you are feeling much better
Kay-how's your neck of the woods?

Everyone else...where have you been and what have you all been up to?

My uncle in Kentucky had a heart attack last month and then had a massive heart attack at the hospital. He's not been doing too well since then. He was having issues they thought was from the meds so they took him off the meds. He has since gotten worse and he has very little memory. He know has a blood infection and he doesn't really know anyone. The doctors told my aunt today that he actually died 3x the day of his massive heart attack. We're all worried, but nothing we can do but pray and hope.
I'm keeping busy and the 4th of July went well. We went to my aunt and uncles for a cookout. I can't really remember much of what we ate the except for today which was baked marinated chicken, soup, steamed broccoli, long grain/wild rice and mac and cheese.

How is work going? Are you still liking it?

For some reason I am not getting notifications for this thread anymore. I have to just stumble across it.

We have been eating...sometimes it seems that all I do is cook and clean it up. LOL

Saturday was pork chops and stuffing, with carrots and cottage cheese and fruit.
Sunday we had blueberry pancakes and eggs. A friend of ours went blueberry picking before church and brought them to us. What a nice surprise.
Monday night I made bbq ribs on the grill, also made rissitto and peas.

Not sure what tonight will be. I am taking the kids swimming and I need to have a plan. By the time we get home I won't have much time to get it fixed and on the table.

Everyone is fine here. Kids are all doing well. Keeping me busy. DH is still looking for a job. He is interviewing with a couple different companies right now....for whatever that amounts to. I sound discouraged...but I know that I have to wait for God's plan, and I know he has one.
Summer is going by much to fast. I hope you all are enjoying it in your part of the country....
for our friends in other countries...I'm sure winter can't go fast enough.
I hope all stop in and let us know how you are.

Ohara- A big good luck wish for your DH and family for a great job to come his way! Are the kids getting big. You know also have the sibling to the baby right?

Hope you are all doing well. Life's been crazy as usual. My uncle is still in ICU, this is week 6. My brother was in the hospital for 2 days and they can't figure out what's wrong, but they did find a spot on his pancreas, these spots are seldom cancer though. My DH who is allergic to bees was stung right above the ankle and now his foot, ankle and part of is calf are swollen. I wanted to take him to the hospital but he's waiting to go to the doctors office tomorrow since it will be cheaper.

Anyways, tonight was soup, mac and cheese and grilled cheese. Yesterday was Thai Chicken Pizza. I'll be in classes tomorrow so I don't know what we'll be having yet.

Dinner tonight is chili dogs and chips...see what I mean?

cindy1176 welcome to the dinner table. Lots of extra chairs...although you may have to dust one off. Isn't that the truth about what's for dinner? Some nights I think that it would just be easier if someone would just tell me what to cook.

Last night was pork loin cooked on the grill, potatoes with onions, corn on the cob and cottage cheese.

Tonight the plan is pork chops, fresh green beans with red potatoes not sure if I will make anything else or not. May make a fruit salad. Not sure yet.

Melissa, yes I have the babies older brother. The baby will be 5 months tomorrow. His older brother is 21 months. Both are so cute. One of the only parts that I am not enjoying is all the diapers. Both are wearing them...and seem to need changed every time I turn around. LOL!

Have a good day ladies.

Tonight was honey bbq chicken with brown rice and veggies, watermelon and sliced italian bread.

Hi ladies! I was wondering if I could join in. You all sound like you've had so much fun around the dinner table and it's nice to be able to "talk" about anything and everything like this.

Long story short: I used to do a ton of cooking before I got into baking. In the past year I got laid off, fell in love with cake decorating, and had a baby. By awesome luck people where I live are cupcake junkies and I was able to turn my new passion into a business in a short time. Now I have a 10 1/2 month old and he makes sure I stay a "skinny baker" by running me ragged. icon_smile.gif Anyway, I'd love to get back into cooking (and I'm sure my hubby would appreciate it too) so maybe if I start reporting my meals to you ladies I'll get my act together!

Sorry, that was longer than I planned. Hope you are all well and I look forward to getting to know you!

Hello table family!

Welcome alanaj! Pick out a chair and dust it off. We are happy to have you here.

Crazy busy here just like usual. We were out of town for a week. Got home on Monday evening and trying to catch up on everything here. I am hoping to take the kids to the pool today. It is so much work (as you all know) but the kids love to go. Our weather has not really been pool weather this summer. We have only been 4 or 5 times.

Tonight will be leftovers.
I heard a woman say yesterday that leftovers at her house were called
get-your-ownies. I thought that was cute.

Dinner last night was Chicken and vegetable pasta, with cottage cheese, bread and pears.

On Tuesday we had pizza.

cindy1176 how did your Harley cake turn out? How many grand babies do you have?

Melissa are you still liking your job? I know it keeps you very busy. A job on top of 4 kids is a lot. When does school start up your way? We start on Aug 24....less than 3 weeks. My daughter is so excited. I'm not.

Hugs to all ....hope you get a chance to check in soon!

Raspberry mousse and chocolate chip cookies....yum! Do you always have dessert? I usually pass off leftover cupcakes to my hubby. I barely eat sweets now that I make them all the time.

Tonight was chicken, veggies and pasta. BBQ'd steaks last night because we finally got one nice day. This summer has been a rainy mess in Ontario. I'm still making most of my 11 month old's food so I have to say he eats way better than we do.

Up late tonight working on orders. I'm glad it's busy though so I won't complain. Working on accents for a ring box cake (Tiffany style) for a really condescending customer. Love it.

Ohara you must be getting the same weather we are. Hope you had a good week away!

Cheers,
Alana

Alana--I make dessert but not every night. I don't eat many desserts anymore. I use to love it, now I want anything but dessert. I'd rather have my beloved carbs instead.
Ohara- I see you still have on your super hero mom cape. Goodness, do you eer get to rest?

Tonight we went out to eat. I had a veggie penne pasta in alfrado sauce with a salad.

I had a wedding cake do today and it was giving me fits. I had such a horrid time with this cake. Thank goodness the bride said I could change her colors to pastels if need be since her colors were so bold. She told me whatever looked better to go with it. I did the bold colors in the strips and polka dots like she wanted first and it looked like a circus clown threw up all over it. I re-did the cake to more of a lighter pastel color and it looked better but I'm still not happy with it. Auughh, cake decorating was not my forte last night.

Hope ya'll are doing well.

So I can't actually remember the last time I posted except it was probably the end of last year some time. So much has happened in the last 8 months that it has just been crazy. Although I have checked in multiple times to get ideas and keep up a little, just haven't had enough time to sit down.

Bought a house and moved last november, then vacation and the holidays. Then had a baby girl 6 weeks early (she was in the NICU for 3 weeks and I was in kept for a week), ended up taking maternity leave for 3 months, went to work for 5 weeks then was laid off. So currently on temporary lay off, working part time at home for a business that lets me set my schedule and taking care of our little girl full time. I thought I would have more time to keep up on things being laid off, but I seem to be busier than when I was working full time. (so many house projects too!)

But to get back the the actual discussion of the thread... Dinners and lunches this past week
- Spagetti
- Tacos
- Porcupine Meatballs, Mashed Potatoes, Corn
- Hamburgers
- Taco Pizza, Canadian Bacon and Saurkraut Pizza
- CHicken, 4 cheese rice, and Broccoli
-Croissant Sandwhiches

And my cousin visitied us this past week, she has to gain about 5-10 pounds while she is here on vacation, so we had a lot of sweets too... not something we typically have around here so we also had Peanut butter cookies, Banana cream pie, brownies, and angel food cake plus lots of candy too...

Hopefully you'll be seeing me again a little more often than every 6-8 months icon_smile.gif
