I'd watch it K2 if I was in your area. I think that's a great idea! Go for it!
squeezing into my old cheerleading skirt. Oops....just popped the zipper.
Oh well, "RAH, RAH,RAH---GO KRISTI, GO KRISTI--HEY, HEY, GO KRISTI!"
Thanks! You just reminded me of my competition cheerleading days~ I got yelled at by a fan because I "lipsynched" the cheers... I was only in it for the gymnastics...
BUSTED!! Good times... Serves them right for always making me the one that got thrown 15 feet in the air!!! ![]()
(sorry, another one of my digressions...) ![]()
Tonight was chicken noodle soup for DH. The kids had all beef corndogs and 5 cheese pizza. Real healthy I know ![]()
I didn't eat because I was too busy eating cake scraps and icing. Darn it!
Now I have to go and try to find something healthy to eat.
I made some cupcakes today up and put disco dust on them.
Boy, I went a little overboard with one of them. I used a heck of a lot of glitter on it. ![]()

My computer's been sick and in hospital ![]()
and I can only use my DD's laptop occasionally. Just wanted to let you all know I'm still around
.
mkolmar you made me laugh just thinking of you sitting there cutting up choc transfers, in the cold and in my mind huddled up in a great big jacket then putting the cutters against a fire to keep warm
you are amazing, nothing can stop you when your on a mission.
janine I think I just saw cupids arrow flying past ![]()

I've just had a blood test which tells me everything is fine except my iron levels as I don't want to take iron tablets I'm trying to eat iron rich foods so our meals have been including lots of spinach, broccoli, red meat (sorry K2cakes) and I'm now eating cereal for breakfast. Anyone got any other ideas for iron I'd appreciate it. I think I'm gunna get heartily sick of what I'm eating pretty soon. Is there iron in chocolate I'm sure there must be ![]()
![]()
Talk again later, hopefully when my computer is back from hospital.
Hello ladies!
Sparkle...I donate blood to the Red Cross. When my iron levels were low, they asked me if I was drinking iced tea. For some reason it can lower your iron levels. They said it is more of a problem in the summer, as we drink a lot more iced tea then. Also they told me, that if your not getting enough fluids, and are a little dehydrated, it will affect your iron levels as well. So my advice is to drink up ![]()
Lots an lots of water ![]()
Good luck!
Janine...thank you for the prayers. They mean a lot. I am fine here. Ready for spring. I have had enough of snow for this year. Jarod and is little friend sound so cute.
Kay....what's up with you? How is Mike doing? I hope all are well at your house.
K2....I would watch your show. I think it's a great idea. What do you have to lose by doing it?
mkolmar....what do you mean that corn dogs and cheese pizza aren't healthy? I bet your kids enjoyed them though! I know my daughter loves it when I let her just eat the stuff she likes. Corn dogs and cheese pizza would have been a dream come true for her. ha
Juju....I hope all is well with you. Hope you check in soon!
Dinner...Thursday was salisbury steaks with gravy, risotto, sweet corn, and cottage cheese.
Friday night I made taco salads with chicken. I put black beans and corn in it as well so it is fairly healthy.
Saturday was left overs for my husband, my daughter had a few left overs as well. She wasn't very hungry so not much was eaten. I heated up canned split pea soup for me. I was baking and cooking for Sunday. We are having friends over for lunch after church. We are going to watch college basketball. One of my favorite things to do. I drive my husband crazy when I yell at the tv. Anyway....
So today we are having vegetable beef soup, Italian bread,
and Angle food cake for dessert. I love homemade angle food.
I also made creme brulee. My husbands favorite, and he thinks since I have the egg yokes all left after making angle food....I should make the creme brulee....that takes only egg yokes.
((((HUGS)))))) to all my table family!
I'm here. I'm getting close to the end of the pregnancy. I was diagnosed with pregnancy induced hypertension. I have to take Labetalol 200mg 2 times a day. At first it was making me pretty sick, but my body has gotten use to it so I'm doing pretty good now. I am trying to tie up all the last minute details I can to be ready because if the meds don't keep it manageable then I'll be off to the hospital to have the baby early. I have to make weekly trips to the doctor now so he can keep check on me and the baby.
butterfly~ I'm sending you warm thoughts for a safe, and healthy delivery. Congratulations - I miss being pregnant. My baby DD is almost FOUR.
Let us know when you have that baby. ![]()
I'm sure I'll cry from happiness at the gift of a new life... ![]()
BEST WISHES TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!! ![]()
Hi everyone. If you go to www.toledoblade.com ---click on columnist and go to Kathy Smith. It was dated for February 22,2009 with the title Elegant Menu for Chefs Association Dinner.
They chose the dessert plate to be pictured (yeah baby!) Ignore the sauce. My friend sauced the plate and she doesn't work with pastry so I hate the way the sauce is on the plate. It's a little too sloppy looking for me. However, that will give you an idea of what I'll be doing next month for every person at a charity event.
Hope you all have a great day. I'll catch up a little later on the posts.
Tonight was cauliflower cheese soup (with a little bit of a back heat from some spices), honey bbq glazed chicken, mac and cheese and bread that I pan toasted in olive oil.
Melissa, thank you for posting the link. How awesome to have your desserts pictured. Nice article. You should be proud of yourself! I will take a plate of those beauties! Well done!!
Dinner tonight was turkey subs. DH and I had lunch with oldest daughter today and we had a fairly large meal, so we decided to just have sandwiches for dinner.
My husband, son and youngest daughter all had creme brulee for dessert.
All three were in glory. They love creme brulee.
Last night dh grilled. We did foil packets: corn, potato chunks, and baby carrots in one packet with butter, salt, & pepper. Short ribs cut off the bones and pieces of bacon in the other packet with apple juice, bbq sauce, and a bunch of different seasonings. It was very very yummy.
Tonight was taters au gratin casserole.
I have to go tomorrow to take the 3 hour gestational diabetes test. I failed the 1 hr test. Today was a good day though.

You are such empathetic and warm a person to care so much about everyone else with all you are dealing with. I'm happy for you that your hubby is still working. It's been rough for most people, but you've had quite a lot. Don't worry about venting your news, you have every right to feel the way you do. That's what this table is for... ![]()
About those potatos~ they still sound yummy. I'll have to try and figure it out.
Melissa~ ROCK ON!!! Thanks for posting that article. ![]()
Ohara~ How are you doing? Are things getting any better?
Janine~ that's so cute, your son is growing up... I hope you embarassed him, as that's every parent's right of passage. ![]()
Dinner

I hope everyone is doing well. ![]()
Tonight we ate at Cheddar's. A late Valentine's day dinner. Apparently someone messed up our order and we didn't get the appetizers until after the entrees arrived. We brought the appetizers home.
I had an 8 oz sirloin, loaded baked potato, and cheesy broccoli casserole.
Well tonight supper was what ever you could find...
BECAUSE We were in Girl Scout Cookie HELL..I picked up Brooke's cookies tonight and had to sort through 250 boxes GGGGGAAAAA
So 2 hours later my livingroom floor was covered in sacks and boxes of cookies. So I put a bucnh back in the car to deliver tomorrow on Brooke's paper route and to my work..
I took a big bunch to my friends house tonight. We sold to a bunch where she works.. And the rest are in boxes on my floor.. I am going to set up a card table so I get them off the floor away from the dog..
Good thing I cooked good last night LOL
it was Fried Chicken, homemade mashed potatoe, gravy, corn, and peas..
JUJU have you heard about your test yet???
K2 Thanks for the hugs
Ohaha your PM meant alot to me ((((HHHHUUUUGGGGSSS)))
Melissa I hope I get time tonight to check out that link
I do not have gestational diabetes. Yay! Now to keep my blood pressure low for a few more weeks.
Tonight was Subway because we had to go to the store.
I am so glad for you JUJU.. I hope and you and baby are doing great. Subway YUM and $5 footlongs YEAH..
Tonight was Hamburger Helper tonight. I added frozen Veggies but Brooke VETOED them but she has had a bad tummy all day. So hard to say if she vetoed veggies or not..
It got cold and Windy here so we didn't get rid of alot of COOKIES today..
I hope everyone is doing good..
Ok it was COLD and SNOWY here tonight WWWWAAAAHHH
So I made Chili and Chicken tortilla soup ( subbed with leftover turkey)
It was YUMMY and hit the spot.. It warmed Mike up enough to go out and scoop the snow..
So I am crazy.. On deck for tomorrow supper is homemade Runzas..And I am going to make extras to freeze..The big head of cabbage gave me enough shredded to make 5 batches.. Each batch is suppose to make 12..I have never made them from total scratch before..I have always used frozen bread dough.. But the kids want them like Grandmas and Just like our Runza Resurants..So I am up for a challenge..I don't know if I will whip out all 5 batches tomorrow or pace myself and do them in 2 days LOL
I hope everyone is doing GREAT and busy I am sure..Or will I have to feed you all when I get all the Runzas done LOL No probably not though if they turn out I am sure my kids won't let me LOL
Kay... I had to google runza. I had no idea what they were. They look yummy to me. I love cabbage so I know that I would enjoy these. Good luck with them.
Juju...sending prayers for you and the baby. I'm glad your tests came out ok. Take good care of yourself. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
I haven't really updated what's going on with us in a while. My husband is still looking for a job. He has had a few interviews. Here in Ohio, our new unemployment rate came out this week. It has climbed to 8.8%. Just this week two large corporations in our area let go a total of 700 more people. The news just doesn't get any better. We are ok though. We are thrifty people and we have a good savings cushion.
Some days are hard...but we try to focus on the positives in our life.
This past week on Tuesday evening, we got a call and we were asked to take a newborn for a while. I don't know how long he will be here. We never do. He was born on Sunday 2/22. He is 6 days old today. He is tiny. He is 5lb 15oz and 17" long. He is doing well so far. I have been busy though. Not only is there a newborn in the house, but when we get a baby it means lots of appointments. Caseworkers have to come out,
he has to go to the doctor in the first day or two. I have to schedule to take him to WIC, and he had a visit with his Mom already. Oh, and he came with nothing. No clothes, and only the formula and diapers that the hospital sends home. So, we have been shopping as well.
I always forget how much laundry a itty bitty baby can make. lol You would think that after all these years of having babies in the house I would remember this.
Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes for me and my family. It means a lot to me. I will let you all know as soon as we are blessed with a new job. Whenever that may be.
I have cooked all week. Let's see what I can remember...
Tuesday night we had chicken, peppers and onions stir fried together with white rice. It was late after we got home with the baby.
Wednesday we had chicken shiskabobs, yellow rice and zucchini
Thursday was spaghetti and meatballs, sweet corn and cottage cheese.
Friday I made bbq pork ribs and homemade oven baked fries
Today DH is frying a turkey. I have no idea what we are having with it.
Have a good weekend ladies.
Ohara~ are you a foster parent? That is something we've given serious thought to, but it would break my heart each time they left. We decided to have only one child, and foster/adopt an older child if we ever want more children. In my area, there are so many school age kids that never get adopted, it's sad. You have a big heart.
Kay~ I also love cabbage. Care to please share the recipe?
Melissa~ are you on a hunger strike? ![]()
Today was Vegan pizza day!!! (see the abnoxious attached photo of my husband's gorgeous pizza). Mine looks a bit different, as it's on a rice crust.
~ salad with pizza
Have a great weekend everyone. You're in my thoughts. ![]()
Hi everyone. I'm not starving here, just been pretty busy.
Juju-glad to read that your test went our well. YEAH! your in your final pregnancy stretch. Pretty soon a new little baby to love and hold.
Ohara-you are such an amazing person! Life's been difficult for you but you still try to stay up beat and you yet have enough room in your heart to be a foster parent.
K2- I've thought about becoming a foster parent also but I know I would never be able to give the child up. I get way too attached to young ones. I would like to adopt a child that's a little bit older also. I remember watching a story on our local news about an adult man who was never adopted and was still trying to find a family to adopt him. He said he doesn't want anything just want somewhere to go for holidays and b-days and be able to say that's my family. Of course, we have 4 kids now and the option of adopting is out the door since $ is so tight with them.
Kay- I'm so sorry you feel this way. You are such a caring person to be concerned with so many others. Everything happens for a reason. I'm not sure why Mike's job has been spared as of right now compared to others but God does.
Sparkle-how are you feeling?
Janine-how cute your son had a little date. How sweet.
My parents surprise 40th anniversary party was yesterday. I'm so tired and sore. I've had very little sleep for the last week, especially the last few days. Family from Washington state, Alabama and Kentucky came as well as local were here for it. My parents were 100% surprised. They thought it was a party for my son Trenton (who's b-day is monday)
Everything went pretty darn well. Food was spiral glazed ham, meatballs with gravy, fried chicken, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, cheesy noodles, stuffed mushrooms, veggie tray plus dip, cheeseballs with crackers, spinach dip, little sandwiches, corn, rolls, salad with dressing, taco salad and a few other things I know I'm forgetting. Dessert was cake of course
White cake, white almond and chocolate cake. I also made moulded chocolates that were solid and some with the oreo truffle filling. There were also brownies.
At the party my DH came to me and said "Melissa, look at our sons eye".
Our oldest has pink eye. DH left the party with son in tow. Called the DR. and got a script called in for eye drops. So GROSS! I hope no one else catches it in the family. I woke up and he must have crawled next to me in bed. ahhhh! I hope I don't get it!
Anyways, hope you all have a good day. I have to get back to cleaning.
tonight was breakfast~
tofu pan fried "eggs"
veggie bacon
oven roasted broccoli
Green Mountain Gringo corn chips
I edited this because (while baking cupcakes) the thought occurred to me that my post was WAAAAAAYYYYYY too political, and may upset some people.
Have a great night!! ![]()
Went to mom and dads house to eat tonight. We loaded up all the leftover food and took it to their house last night. A couple people went back to my parents today to try to help finish up the leftovers.
Hope you all have a good night. I'm exhausted from yesterdays party so I'm going to bed soon.
I'll post pictures when I get a chance.
Pizza from my very favorite local pizza place.
How sad, they have jacked their prices up so high that my entire family has to get together and go in on it once a month now. They will not be in business much longer because they are 3-4 times more than Pizza Hut and the big chains around here...but so worth it when we do get it![]()
Tonight was BBQ pork tenderloin, corn, mashed potatoes, and pineapple.
PeytonsMom0207 - Welcome to the table.
Tonight was whole wheat pancakes with honey drizzled on top.
DH had veggie and noodle soup with leftover chicken added.
Yesterday was cajun and honey BBQ chicken with sauted zucchini and beer bread with honey butter.
I know this may sound silly but the pictures of my mom and dad's surprise 40th anniversary are in my photos. I know they aren't that fancy (hey, I was busy with other thing for the party) but I have to say I was kind of happy with them. Simply because this was the first time I iced a cake and didn't have to put a border around the top because it had an edge to it. (yeah! OK, it wasn't perfect but I'm happy with it.) Sounds stupid I know but getting an edge is difficult for me.
Have a great night table friends.
Melissa~ that's not silly and you did a great job. You've been a busy woman from the last time I looked at your photos... good for you. ![]()
Can you tell me what would pair well with PB cake, besides peanut Buttercream or ganache? Banana & fruit too, but anything else? This is probably a strange question, huh? I'm bored with the typical stuff...
Considering I'm made up of about 40% peanut butter, I'll try to help you out.
I like celery with PB but that won't work for cake.
What about a white chocolate mousse or a chocolate mousse, expresso and PB taste good together (at least I like it). I wonder if you could make a vegan curd. I love lemon-lime curd, not that it would pair well with PB though (blah!). Perhaps something with a little orange and chocolate with PB for flavoring.....maybe mango. Not sure about that though since I've never tried it.
