Ok it is still freakin colder than you know what here...GGGAAAHHHH I HATE IT
So for supper Mon. I made Chili
Tonight was a very crazy night I had to work late so had to do supper fast.. Sloppy Joes, fries and pork and beans from the can..
I have also been a baking fool.. I have a cake for the 18th. Plus all the goodies I am making for Brooke's paper route gifts to the customers from here.. They all tip here very well at Christmas. So we give them goodies..
I hope you all are staying warm and cozy..
Cold here as well. We had ice last night....so, no school today. That really means that nothing will get done here.
Yesterday was appointment day. DD and DH both had appointments in the afternoon. After that we ran some errands. It had started sleeting and was miserable cold...all I wanted to do was go home.
We ate out last night while doing our errands. Our Logan's Road House, is running a special 2 for $12.99 and kids dinners for $2.
I had a 6oz sirlion with broccoli and a side salad.
Monday night I roasted a pork loin with potatoes, carrots and onions.
I don't know what I am cooking tonight.
I might make some kind of soup. I love the idea of one pot dinner.
I would be thankful for any shared soup recipes. These are the ones that I make....
Italian vegetable, vegetable beef, chili, cream of potato, sausage stew (soup stew combo) creamy chicken...
I am going to dip pretzels in chocolate (white and reg.) today....hopefully. I am also going to dip peanut butter filled pretzels today. I haven't tried that but it could only be good right? Here's hoping.
I finished my peanut butter fudge and chocolate fudge yesterday. I also have finished my chocolate covered peanut clusters.
A few more cookies to mix up then I'm done in the sweet department. I am thinking of making NFSC today. I have never made them. I was thinking DD would enjoy doing that today. We'll see how the day goes.
We did finally make our gingerbread house. It is very decorated! Ha....it is cute. DD had a great time putting the candy on it. What didn't go in her mouth.
I am counting down the days until my girlfriend trip. We go every year. I am so thankful that it was paid for before DH lost his job. My friend who moved to Utah is flying here to fly out with us. I am going to try to add a ticker so I can see how close it is getting.
Mkolmar....thanks.
K2....I hope you aren't feeling bad. Did you get the ice storm that went up the east coast?
Kay...Stay warm my friend. Very nice of you to bake for Brooke's paper route customers.
I wonder where Janine went to?
I hope you all have a great day!
Hi All! (((BIG HUGS)))
I have so missed you all, sorry for being away so long.
Things were busy with cake orders, then we did a christmas market with our fruit cakes (a friend of mine and me) and were invited to do another the next weekend, and we got such good compliments etc, it was awesome, so away i baked day and night decorating etc, and the friday before the 2nd market (2 fridays ago) my parents were involved in a head on collission, their car is a right off, and they were both taken to hospital, badly injured, but they discharged my dad with a head injury, and from there, it was up and down to doctors for dad and hospital visiting for mom, she broke her left upper arm in 3 places - yup 3 different places too!!!
But Goid is good!!! they are alive and are now healing, my dad got admitted last tuesday to hospital with this head injury, and they were kind enough to put both my parents in the same room - we dubbed it the honeymoon suite" lol and they were discharged on saturday past, Since the accident i have been running my dads garden services from 07h00 am till 5 pm each day except sat and sunday, and running to the hospital in the morning before starting the route and then again when done!! so it has been really hectic.
Now they are home, but im still running the garden services as my dad is still seeing double and my mom is in agony, im cooking for both families at the moment but luckily i got my brothers (both of them) to go back home just after dad was admitted, i just couldnt manage everyone - lol
my folks live in a garden cottage in my back yard, they are very heartsore over their car, and we are now doing all the driving for them, to the doctors, town, and their dinners and cleaning, washing and ironing, till they are better!
thank God i had nothing booked for these 2 weeks before christmas, as i just would not have been able to manage doing cakes and gardens etc etc - lol
As for christmas - well the only person we are doing gifts for is my son, who is 9 and he will have presents under the tree, but the rest of us, well i guess we will all have afruit cake, as i didnt do the market that saturday due to the accident - lol there was no way i was going to bother
so i have a ton of fruit cakes, some iced and decorated others just iced - lol sitting all over the house (16 large cakes and about 100 mini ones)
i used all my savings - that i skimmed off everywhere for christmas to help pay the bills and to buy the stuff my folks needed while in hospital - but luckily i hid some away, so my son can have a nice christmas
we finaly decorated the house on tuesday night - but only the tree, and the lounge this year, just no time to do the rest - poor kid - lol
I envy you all with your christmas baking and gift making - i am so behind, havent baked 1 cookie yet, just the wedding cake i had for last saturday and the one i have for this sunday - then only 27th december and engagement cake - phew, im pooped - lol
I have caught up on the thread, now - hooray, i did try a couple of times before i did the market, but got kicked out each time as cc was upgrading or something!! Sorry this is so long!
Ohara - so sorry about your dh's job, will be keeping you in prayer - and thanks for being such an awesome friend!! May you and yours be truly blessed this christmas and 2009
mkolmar - wow, youre allways so busy, all the goodies youre making sound so awesome - i wish i had your abilities!!
may you and yours also be truly blessed this christmas and 2009
sparklepop - i am glad you had a lovely break, and that things are busy for you, the demonstration sounds like fun - and the cup cakes too cute - i have to do a demonstration at my guild in january - the butter cream flip - lol so i have to get some practice in - lol
may you and yours also be truly blessed this christmas and 2009
kay - im glad the expo at the mall went well, but so sorry the weather ruined the one at home - sounds like an awesome idea - i hope that your dd gets in enough money for her trip if i was closer i would buy some!!
may you and yours also be truly blessed this christmas and 2009
k2cakes - your food sounds so interesting, and the picture you posted - makes my mouth water - lol
hope your little one is well again
may you and yours also be truly blessed this christmas and 2009
to all the others out there - may you all be blessed this christmas and 2009, wishing all happiness, health, wealth and tons of love
p.s - i finaly got my results for the exams - WHOO HOOOOOO!!! would you know i actualy passed - got the results after the accident - was tooo scared to look with all the bad news etc
I got a B - lol not too bad for not studying much - lol
ok, dinner mmmmmm
most of the 1st week of the accident was toast and stuff around 10pm at night when we got back from hospital - we bought jarod dinner each night so he was sorted - lol
have been cooking lots as well - and dh has helped too (thank goodness - lol)
sphagetti blognaise
steak rolls
tuna mayo on rolls
bbq's and salads
fish and chips
tonight my folks are treating us to boerewors (bbq sausages) with rolls, and salads - lol
I have missed you all, and thanks for being such awesome people - lets eat - lol
big big hugs and tons of love to you all
Janine, I am so sorry that you have been having a rough time. I am glad that your parents are making progress in their recovery. What a heavy load you are carrying right now. I wish there was some way I could help. I'm sure Jared will have a wonderful Christmas. Thank you for the prayers, know that you and your family are in mine.
I made more cookies today. I also dipped part of my pretzels. I still need to dip the white chocolate ones. I finished my Christmas shopping today. I still need to go to the grocery, and wrap and clean and finish baking and I have a birthday cake to make for Sunday. It's for a good friend so no pressure. ![]()
Last night was chicken taco rice
Tonight was chili
Oh my goodness Janine. You have had so much happen, I wish I lived closer so I could help you out. I'm glad your parents are out of the hospital. How are they doing? Sending my prayers.
Tonight was fast food since I didn't have time to cook in between working. Darn it.
butterflyjuju ~ Welcome
Kim_in_CajunCountry ~ Welcome!
I hope you are both well. ![]()
Janine ~ my heart goes right out to you. (((( HUGS )))), wait here's one more ((((( HUG ))))) I hope things get better real soon. You have a lot of inner strength, I can tell.
Everyone else ~ Nothing much going on... no orders right now.
I did give my first ever "guest Artist's Talk" at our local college about my process as a sculptor and how my work's evolved. I'm not a fan of public speaking, but I made it though without the nervous laugh. ![]()
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, however you celebrate.
Tonight was:
Vegan steak strips
sauted green peppers & mushrooms
rice pasta
green tea is a ritual for me twice a day... so lots of that. We are tea SNOBS and love Stash loose teas. ![]()
Goodnight ![]()

Janine yes we have a few drive-in's left. Not very many. Some of my older kids favorite childhood memories happened at the drive-in. They would love to go. We would go with friends and then park next to each other. Then get out all the lawn chairs and food. So much fun! DH and I used to go to the drive-in while we were dating. I remember going about a year after we were married. I was very young, and pregnant, it was hot out and I had my hair in ponytails. When we pulled up to the ticket booth, the guy asked my husband.."one adult and one child?" My DH said Yep!! I was so mad at him. He thought it was sooooo funny. He still loves to tell that story. I wish that I still looked that young ![]()

Oh well...
I'm glad that you had a fun evening. Heaven knows that you deserved a little time off.
K2....I would have loved to have heard your presentation. I'm sure you did great. Thanks for posting the brand of green tea that you drink. Do you buy it at a local store or order it online? I really enjoy good tea. I drink a tea called wu long. I do like it, however it is a little hard on my stomach. So I have to be careful not to drink more than one cup a day.
Mkolmar...did you get a bunch of snow? Are you about ready for Christmas? I imagine that your kids are!
Kay how are you doing? Is your weather awful? I hope all is well with you.
Sparkle, JuJu, Mewie, Kim....hope you all check in soon.
We had left over chili last night. The first night it was so spicy I couldn't eat it. (dh and ds liked it). I added some tomato juice. It helped a lot.
I have no idea what today will be.
I would like to wrap presents today. I have a cake to make today... I already made the BC. I also have cake balls that need to be dipped this morning.
Have a great weekend ladies.
It has been NASTY weather here. Cold in the sub 0 range and wicked wind chills. Th other day we had very weird weather. It started out as freezing fog, turned to sleet/hail balls. When I got off of work it was lightening and thunder and snowing.. They call it a Thunder snow.. I have seen it before when I was younger but man it was weird. The snow dumped up to 10 inches in spots. I think at our house he got 6.. But the ice was under it so it is very slick.. And now we are suppose to get bitter cold again tonight and wind..
Brooke had a stomach bug on Wed. afterschool.. So she didn't go on Thur. from sickness. Then they called scholl off for weather on Fri.
What did we eat.. well good ?? Thurs. was frozen fish, hashbrowns and peas.. Fri. We had a potluck at work for lunch. Then Fri. night us girls in the bakery we out to eat at a fancy resturant.. I was torn about going... We are tight on money and I felt guilty about spending money on me and not for presents for Brooke and Jord.. I ordered off the bar menu. I got a potato casserole with steak in it and it was topped with cheese, sour cream, and chives.. It wasn't that great.. It needed seasoning.. And one of the other girls got the holiday buffet all you can eat crablegs and steak for $32 and the crab was cold and underdone.. A big waste of money.. I was glad to be out with the girls.. Something I NEVER do.. But I just felt SO GUILTY does that make sense.. I felt I could have used that $14 to buy a present.. Maybe I would have been better off just ordering the strawberry daquiri and just visiting..Enough of my sob story
Well I better go..Stay warm everyone and Merry Christmas if I don't get a chance to sit at the table..
Kay, your cold weather gets here tonight. We are supposed to be subzero tomorrow. The wind is going to blow at 15-20mph. I am really not looking forward to that! I was planning on taking Lizzie (12yr old dd) to the zoo on Monday. They are all decorated with thousands and thousands of lights and decorations. We bought a zoo membership in the early spring, and it includes the Winter Wonder lights display. I may have to wait until Tuesday night, as it will be much closer to 25 that evening.
I understand about feeling guilty, but you need time for you as well. Stay warm.
Tonight I made meat load, baked potatoes, sweet corn and french bread.
Does anyone know how long cake balls will last? I can't think of any reason they would go bad in a short time....but have never had any last more than a day or two. Thanks.
It's Christmas Day ![]()
Merry Christmas everyone.
Wishing you all the best and catch up after Chrissy.
Hope Santa is good to you all
Lyn
Just a quick stop to say "Have a fabulous Holiday everyone!!!"
I am so grateful to have my lovely table friends... connecting with you all was so unexpected... and wonderful!!! I never thought I'd meet such an incredible group of people in such an unlikely place.
THANK YOU ~~
Lots of love ~
"MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL"
Just a quick stop over - grab a snack and run - lol
Hope you all have a very blessed day today, and my wish for you all for 2009 is health, wealth, happiness, peace and lots of orders - lol (ok, not in that order - you choose)
Merry Christmas to the most awesome group of ladies I know!!!
Love and hugs - and praying for blessings for all
Janine
Hello, I hope everyone had a great holiday ~ ((( HUGS ))) to all. ![]()
tonight:
Breakfast for dinner
pan fried tofu "eggs" (tofu dipped in nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor)
oven roasted broccoli
veggie bacon (no fat involved, luckily ~ but very yummy)
brown rice with flax seeds and nutritional yeast
sage tomato & mustard dipping sauce (mixed together...)
(yes, I know I'm weird...my husband teases me relentlessly about my love for the "savory" flavors -vs- sweet, with me often combining both. ![]()
My daughter takes after me and now dips her sandwiches in balsamic vinegar and calls it "juice". I dip cookies in my tea, which grosses him right out... but it makes perfect sense to me. It's one of the FEW things I allow myself to eat that isn't necessary for survival, so I'm going to do it my way.
)
This was the first Christmas where NO ONE spoke or visited with my mother... it was not an easy decision to make (I'm not a cruel person). Both my Nana & 92 yr old Aunt refused to speak to her because of her actions. It's funny, because all she'd have to do is admit and applogize to us, for us to move on. It would be so easy for me to forgive her if she'd only admit she has a problem and get help. I guess some people just "have to be right". Figuratively speaking: I'd gladly take a punch in the face rather than live my life hiding behind false pride and self-destruction. We all make mistakes, right? Just own them, learn from them and move on... I've made plenty. ![]()
It was pretty low-drama, but my neck & shoulders took a beating from the aniticipated stress of a possible "pop-in", that never happened.
I do realize there are greater problems in the world ~ homelessness, murder, child abuse, etc...
Enough of that ~ how is everyone?
Hi everyone. Hope all of you were good so Santa visited.
K2-glad to hear everything was low key for you. The stress you have been under has been unreal. I know how that is though. So not fun, be careful for ulcers. Stress will literally eat you up. By the way your are so not weird for the savory sweet thing. It actually goes really well together. I make a balsamic chocolate and a chili spice chocolate now. (still have some tweaking to do with it though). dipping cookies in tea is how the British eat cookies a lot as well as Italians dipping biscotti in coffee. Your not odd...you just have a very European flare about you without even knowing it.
Kay--How's Mike doing? Is it too late to order a candle for Brooke to raise money?
Ohara-I've been praying for your family and that god keeps a hand over you all.
Sparkle--What trouble have you been causing lately?
Janine-How is everything?
To anyone else stopping by..hope everything is going fabulous for you too.
I only have a few more things to do for DH's business and then I'm all done. Woo-Hoo!
Going to be calling a business with a kitchen about renting this week also. I need to go look at it first though.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!
Tonight we had a small portion of food every hour. Appetizers were: salsa humus, tabouli (sp?) super fresh mozz. with tomatoes and in light balsamic vinegar, smoked mozz.-sundried tomato cheese spread with crackers and cranberry-cinnamon-goat cheese with crackers.
next course was potato-cream soup with a little spicy kick (ever so slight)
The main course was toasted hearty bread in olive oil with/without sundried tomato spread, carrot slaw with raisins, salad, stuffed ricotta-spinach-mozz. stuffed shells with marinara sauce and prime rib roast Au Jus.
For dessert was chocolate cups filled with chocolate mousse (with a little irish whiskey in it) and topped with a little caramel-toasted pecan-Bourbon sauce with a chocolate covered cherry on top.
I'm done for the night. There is more dishes but they can wait.
Hope you all had a good New Year. I wish you all peace, love, prosperity and health in 2009. Love you all!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!
May you all be very blessed this year and allways.
K2 - big hugs - hope it all turns out right soon. as for the cookie dipping - lol we do that here too - so nothing weird about that!!
Mkolmar - ooh your food sounded sooo good, eating every hour - now that sounds like fun - lol
Ohara - You and your family are in our prayers - big hugs
Sparkle - What you up to on that side of the world?
to all the other table friends - Hi! Hope all is well
This has been another stressful week - my mom went back into hospital on monday morning - had an infection in the elbow - where they operated the other day, so she had to undergo surgery monday night again - and it was a big worry as she has major heart problems and diabetes - but all went well God is good!! but she spent new years eve in hospital, and should be there for a couple more days! As long as she gets better, then thats ok.
Last night for dinner, dh and i made 2 large baking trays of pizza, dip and crisps, some sweeties etc, and took it all to the hospital, we had dinner there with mom and my dad and brother joined us, we also spoilt the staff with pizza and sweeties - lol We didnt want her to feel left out, as it was the first time in her 42 year marraige, she wasnt home for new years
Tonight im gonna do cold meat rolls and salads - lol
Hope youre all eating well and having some fun
big hugs
Happy New Year everyone!
We had Subway tonight. Spaghetti and garlic cheese bread last night.
Found out before Christmas that we are having another girl. We think we'll name her Meredyth Alyse.
Well Gidday everyone from down under. Yup I'm still alive and kicking.
Hope you all had a great New Year and Chrissy
. Our New Year was pretty quiet, we just had a BBQ and watched a movie (Full Monty, haven't seen it for ages
), then watched the fireworks on TV. OMG I must be getting old cause I was quite happy to stay home and not worry about RBT after the champagne
.
New Years Resolution is to catch up on all the gossip I've missed out on on this thread
promise I'll catch up.
K2cakes I'm with you DH about dunking cookies in tea
gross but my DH does it, yuck crumbs at the bottom of the cup, ewwww.
mklomar can you send me over some dessert it sounds soo yummy, might have to get that recipe off you,
there goes the diet again
Janine great to see you, sorry about your mum, hope she's on the road to recovery, they are a worry aren't they. How nice to bring New Year to her and I bet the staff loved you.
butterflyjuju, congrats a girl that will be lovely for you.
Just wanted to let you all know there is someone with a username very similar to mine "sparklepopz", she is not me and I don't know her. Didn't want you guys to confuse her with me.
Have a great 2009

Happy New Year!
Hello table friends. I'm finally back home. We had a nice family visit....but always great to be home.
Mkolmar....I hope you got to rest at some point during the holidays. Your foods for New Years eve sounded great.
Sparkle...glad you had a nice quiet New Years! May it be a great year for you and yours.
Janine....I hope your mom is doing much better. You sure have had a rough time of it during the holidays. Are you going to have to run the gardening business, or will your dad be back up to it when it reopens? I'm sure the hospital staff really enjoyed the treats.
K2....I'm glad you had a good holiday season, without the family drama! I hope 2009 is drama free as well.
Juju...congratulations on it being another girl. When is she due?
Kay...I hope all is well with you and yours. Hoping that you found some time, if only a little, to power lounge at some point during the holidays.
I am thankful for you all, and all your well wishes. I am trying to be excited about a new year, not worry about what it will bring. I am a worrier by nature. Still I have much to be thankful for, and I am trying to focus on those things.
I also wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.
Hi everyone.
Ohara-I still think and pray for you often. Just know that God has a plan for you and your family. Things may be hard right now but there must be a reason for it that only he knows.
Janine-I hope your mom is back home soon and that you get some much needed rest.
Sparkle-How is things in Australia? You know Australia is one of those places I want to visit one day.
butterfly- Congrats on the baby girl on the way! 3 girls and one boy, you sure are blessed.
Everyone else--hope you are all resting up from the Holidays and eating well.
Tonight was chicken and rice with steamed broch. and garlic bread over and my mom and dad's. They watched all 4 kids last night so it was just Jon and I. He ended up playing X-box with his brother so I just went to bed. Then he got up early and went to work this morning. He now realizes that we spent only a little bit of time together at dinner and that was it. What a fun night --yeah, right --totally being sarcastic here.
That's okay though, at least he now knows what he did without me having to tell him. ![]()
Mkolmar...sorry that your evening alone turned out as it did. Your right though, you husband realizing what he did without you telling him is pretty good!
I made a taco bar on Saturday. We had friends over and it was easy...you could make nachos, taco salad, or burritos .....also chips and salsa.
We also had fresh baked cookies.
Sunday I made Italian veg. soup
Monday we had leftover soup. DH had a eye appointment and we got home late....I was glad that all we had to do was heat up the soup.
We will either have leftover Mexican food tonight or I will make burritos and freeze them for later. I still have Christmas stuff to get to the basement and lots of cleaning to do...so it might just be leftovers! ![]()
Hope all are well!
I'm due April 25th.
Last night we had Salsbury steak, gravy, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and cauliflower.
Tonight we're having 2x baked potatoes and who knows what else. I just want potatoes...lol.
Hi Everyone

Hi everyone. My son is sick today. I'm sick of viruses being in my house. Got to love kids that are in school and bring all those nasty germs home.
Anyways, I'll catch up later tonight with you all.
Tonight was soup with sandwiches. I had a power bar with water....mmmm filling ![]()
We had burgers, mac & cheese, and cheese fries.
mklomar--I understand the virus thing. I think my kids have mild cases of chickenpox. Sucks
