First off HUGE (((HUGS))) Ohara...I am thinking of your family right now..again (((HHUUGGSS)))

This is my worst fear everyday Mike goes to work. His plant makes vavles for cars as most of you know. And with the big three wanting a bail out it will affect his company BIG. I pray everyday it will get straightened out. But todays news really ticked me off. I won't go into it BUT @#*#@

We keep our heads HIGH and trudge(is that even a word LOL) on. That is all we can all do right now.

K2 trust me I don't very few times I get to POWER LOUNGE DD is 10 and I can count on my fingers and toes how many I got LOL

I am trying to put together a Home base business show. For A Christmas Openhouse . Last minute shopping under one roof.. I have some experience with helping getting one together but never on my own. If I succeed this will help buy X-Mas gifts for the kids. I am not making a profit on the venders only the product I sell. I want to help the other vendors that are struggling also. I got us a great deal on a venue. It is Dec. 13th and 14th. I will be ditching my mom's Christmas but I will be with her for our big family Christmas. And I might miss some of Brooke's dance recital. But my MIL will probably come up to see her and they always tape it and put together a DVD of the performance to buy. So if I miss some of it. It won't be much. I will talk to the teacher to find out the approx. time she will be on stage and sneak in for her performance.

Ok I better tell what we ate recently LOL

tonight was my goulash made my kids HAPPY Mike not so much LOL

last night was chicken nuggets and fries

Chat with you all soon

Well that meal looks really good K2cakes. Can I get the recipe for the stuffed tofu roast for my MIL. Sounds like something that she would just love.

Kay-How is the business show stuff coming along? ...and Mike's health?

Everyone else--have you been eating or do I have to come over there and shove food down your mouths? With love of course...all out of love.

Well, Thanksgiving went well here. I helped my mom with the turkey for at her house. I had a homemade veggie stock with other ingredients for a brine and the turkey was in it overnight. Once cooked the meat is so juicy it falls off the bone in some places. My mom said it was really good and there was little left. I wouldn't know though because I ate at my MIL. She made a very dry turkey that we smothered in gravy to try to choke down. (my DH hates gravy and even opted for his turkey to have it). I just told her how wonderful it was though because she worked hard on it. She also made stuffing with cranberries and pecans, red cabbage relish, sweet potato mashed with candied pecans on top, spinach casserole, butternut squash casserole with a sweet topping, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, green beans, no bake jello cheesecake with cherries, cranberry bars and cranberry relish (is a dessert type dish). I made a French chocolate cake and truffles plus the mashed potatoes for over at my MIL's
She worked so hard and it really was a lovely meal. I love my MIL, even though at times she drives me a little nuts. (but whose doesn't at times.)
We then went over to my parents and they were done eating dinner but the desserts where covering a table. I took a French chocolate cake and white-chocolate-pumpkin ganache truffles dipped in dark chocolate for over there. The truffles were a huge hit so I was happy so I wouldn't have to take them home. It was a great night considering there are some rough characters in my family. It seemed to go off pretty well. One of my brothers did call me drunk though later on at night though icon_rolleyes.gif
I'm still sick and lost my voice completely for 3 days, it's just starting to get back. It's hard trying to be a mom when you can't even talk to your kids. One of our friends past away Tuesday and the funeral was today. He just turned 27 and leaves behind his 3 1/2 year old son. He was such a good father, but was dealing with depression since his fiance (mother of his son) broke up with him about a year ago. He was truly the better parent out of the 2 of them. Everything seemed to be going great for him though he just started dating a great girl and he loved his job (my DH got him this job.) He was happy but he was found dead in his apartment on the couch. Police think it was an accidental overdose. This is all so confusing to us because we had no idea....probably never will understand it though.

Well going to try to check in at the table. I tried to last night and CC went down..

Ok Thankgiving dinner at my aunts house wasn't very tasty. NO SEASONING GGGGAAAHHH. This is all served buffet style. So to that dinner I took my sweet and sour meatballs, taco rollups, crab dip with french baguette sliced drizzled with EVOO and toasted, and pumpkin cupcake, choc. and white cupcakes also. The turkey was on the drier side but not so bad you had to have gravy and good thing cause the gravy had no flavor like the potatoes. I usually never salt or pepper anything after it is cooked but I did on this and it still didn't taste that great. I didn't eat that much . But we definatly had comic relief. My ribs and stomach still hurt. My sisters and I were sitting at a table by all the food. We looked up to see my cousins little boy who is about 1 yr. old with a big spoon licking it. It was in the cherry cheesecake. He was licking it and sticking it back in. We busted out laughing. Then about 45 minutes later her comes his older sister who is about 4. I look up to see her with her finger in her mouth. And watch her go back tomy cupcakes that were frosted with Cream cheese frosting. I ask her if she wants a cupcake and go to help her to see 4 cupcakes without frosting. We were all laughing so hard. She took her cupcake and left us crazy people.

So onto my MIL house on Sat. for Thanksgiving dinner again. Only this time I was so stuffed I couldn't move. It was also buffet style. To that dinner I took mashed potatoes, dressing, taco rollups, crab dip with the french bread. I forgot to take the cupcakes. The turkey was pretty moist considering it traveled a hour in a crockpot and was warmed for a few hours before we all ate. We ran out of my potatoes thank goodness my SIL brought cheesy hashbrown casserole. It was very tasty and we all got very full tummies..

Ok I wrote a book now I hope it posts.. KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED HERE GOES

Hello table friends. Trust me there has been plenty of eating going on here!!! We were at home for Thanksgiving, and I did the cooking so I won't complain about the food. icon_wink.gif My sister and her family (8 of them) came on Wednesday and left on Sunday. So there were 14 of us for Thanksgiving (as well as all the other meals). We bake one turkey and deep fry the other. We also had mashed potatoes with gravy, green bean casserole, broccoli rice casserole, stuffing, noodles, corn casserole, banana pudding, dinner rolls, pumpkin pie, pecan pie and carrot cake. Oh, and when my wayward daughter and her boyfriend showed up and I started stressing....I uncorked the wine thumbs_up.gif My sister and I finished off that bottle real quick like. Really it was a nice day. It is just SO much work getting ready for all that company and all that food.
Friday my sister and I went shopping for 13 hours. We had lasagna, salad, corn and garlic bread for dinner that night.
Saturday my sister and I went shopping again....only 9 hours this time. We had leftovers for dinner. Oh and more wine icon_wink.gif
Sunday morning I made a big breakfast up in the morning before they needed to get on the road. We had bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, hash browns, sausage gravy, milk and juice.
Still getting used to our "new normal" with my husband being home all the time. I know it is just a season....still takes some adjustment.
K2 your dinner looked very nice.
Melissa, I'm sorry that you have been sick. One of my nephew's that was here had no voice either. I think my sister and I are next. I hope not. Hope you feel better soon. I'm very sorry about your friend.
Kay...I love when little kids do things like that at family get togethers. Thanks for the hugs.
Looking forward to hearing from those who are missing in action...Sparkle, Janine..... hope all is well.

Ohara glad you had a fun time shopping.. I just can't do it. The big crowds and pushing and shoving. NOPE I AIN'T DOING IT.

Twin sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. I hope you are feeling better.

Ok what was supper. Last night I made to dinners actually. Cheesy Scalloped ham and potatoes and cornbread I cheated and used box potatoes so it would be a fast meal. Then later last night I cooked off a roast I bought then had to stick in the freezer cause it was just Mike and I. I then took it out of the freezer and it was finally thawed out but I didn't have enough time to cook it for supper. So ccoked it off for Mike to have when he got off of work. I had some when it was done also. And tonight Mike had leftovers and I made taco salad for Brooke. I think I will make a fahita of sorts later. I will cut up some of the roast and saute with some peppers, onions and put on a tortilla. I will probably make some for Mike when he gets off work..

Chat with ya soon

I hope all are well. Our friends outside of the states have been missing for a long time.
I went out shopping with a friend on Thursday, and didn't buy a thing. My shopping won't get done at that rate!ha. We went to the grocery store and ran a few errands yesterday so we can stay home all day today. I think DD and I will make one of the "kit" gingerbread houses. She did one with her brother last year. I also want to put the ornaments on the tree today. DH wants me to start making cookies...I told him to early. That's not really true, as I will make dough and use my cookie scoop to make even balls. Then I will freeze all of them, and only bake off cookies when needed. That way they are always fresh and warm from the oven. I might start candy making this weekend. It will keep for a very long time out in the very cold garage. LOL.
Kay I hope your open house goes well.
Melissa, I hope you are feeling better.

Wednesday I cooked steaks out on the grill. I made garlic mashed potatoes and sweet corn to go with them.
Thursday...I was out shopping with a friend so they ate left overs.
Friday night we had hot roast beef sandwiches
Not sure about tonight....need to plan though as I will get busy doing a project and not want to stop to go to the effort! Have a good day!
I'm with Kay....I miss you all.

Well hi everyone. I know, I know where have I been?

Well, bit off a little more at work that turned out to be way more than
responsibility than I wanted to take on. We lost a manager and our owner is basically trying to make it through the holidays using "go to
senior sales" to split all the work. It has been stressful, but someday I'll
learn to say No!
I've been reading when I can, I hope everyone is doing well and are all
in good health. Everyone in my family is doing well and sunday family dinner is still a go!
I dont know what will be for dinner tonight, myself and DH usually go out for something on Saturday nights. Tomorrow for family dinner we will decorate the tree so we will be having homemade pizzas, dips and such.
Will fill you in next time with the details.
For now, missed you all alot icon_redface.gif , and will talk to you all soon.
Take care and be well,
Michele

Hello everyone! Mewie welcome back. We all missed you.

Now as for some of our US friends and our overseas friends....Are you all so busy with the holidays that your not eating. Just kidding, I know you are all probably really busy.

I'm better and am back to trying to get my house back in order. I've been working on DH's desserts for his clients up until I got sick so I need to pick it back up again and start delivering them once they are done.
We have a party to go to that's 2 hours away for one of his clients so I'll be making a lot for over there. They are a fun group so I totally don't mind at all.
Yesterday was my dads birthday so we are having dinner over at my parents house. My mom is making pinto beans, cornbread, collard greens and chicken and dumplings. My dad's favorite. I made German chocolate cake with the coconut-pecan icing and a decorated cake. Boy, am I out of practice!!!!! This cake is not what I thought it would be but since it's been months since decorating I guess I should have expected it. I made a black skillet with 2 eggs in it, on the board is a salt and pepper shaker with a small pot holder/towel. I had bigger hopes for it, but live and learn. I over filled my cake a little so the skillet has a bulge. OOPS!

Ohara- how did the gingerbread house turn out? Your so smart to do cookies that way. Your a genius!

Kay- I'll have to go check out your candle site. That's so great of Brooke wanting to earn her way. Your such a good mom to raise a well rounded girl like her.

K2--hey homeslice, how is the cake for the TD coming? I now you can't give any details but I can't wait to see what everyone is doing. I have my old pom-poms dusted off and are rooting for you.

Hope everyone else is doing well! Have a great weekend everyone!

Yah!!! some more friends at the table. YEAH

Ok tonights supper was crazy. Iwanted to make my enchiladas. But dang I didn't have any Hamb. So I go to plan B Chicken rice burritoes. I go start cooking off a chcken breast. Go to the cupboard to find no long grain rice. So I improvise with minute rice. ok so far. Well then I get in the cupboard for tomato sauce.. YEP you guess it I didn't have any, SO quick trip to store anyway for sauce. Oh well Brooke was happy I decided to make the chicken burritos..

She is so excited for the candle fundraiser. These will be deliverable for Christmas if ordered by the 14th of Dec. And since I sell the candles. All the Girls will get total profit. I am not taking any for me. Outside of costs for putting it together. Like office supplies and such. She is a Awesome sales person . She is always top seller in her group for cookies and nuts. And she is proud of it. I know from my experience with Scouts I did the same thing. It felt AWESOME to know I paid my way totally on my own for a ski trip I went on.. It will be her first trip out of state without us.. She is so excited.. I will be a nervous momma but I was when Jord went white water rafting out of state also.. Momma has to worry LOL

Caht with you soon I need to go back to dip some cake balls. My choc. is melted and waiting..

Sparkle, how are you feeling? I hope better. Hard to cake and feel sick at the same time.
Kay, tuna casserole sounds good. I haven't made that in a long time.
Mkolmar, how are you feeling? DD and I didn't get to the gingerbread house on Saturday. Now we will have to wait. We have a busy week, and I don't want to start working on it and then have to rush. Do you have much snow at your house?

Well, my husband cooked it and I can't really provide a recipe because there isn't really one. I can tell you that it contains chicken, smoked sausage, dark roux, chicken base, and "trinity" (onions, bell peppers, and celery). NO tomatoes or tomato products. We could a Cajun gumbo. Tomatoes are found in a Creole gumbo.

When he cooks gumbo or spaghetti sauce or beef and vegetable stew (he's a great cook), or when I cook homemade soup, we cook in a commercial 30 quart pot on a propane burner outside. Then we portion it out into containers and freeze it. So I don't really have to cook during the week except to make a pot of rice or pasta. We both work and we ride together so we pick up the kids and get home around 6:00. This allows us to eat relatively soon after getting home. Of course, having a large, commercial freezer means we have room to freeze lots of ready to heat food. It's one of the best investments we've ever made.

Today was Brooke's Winter dance recital. I wasn't sure if I would be able to make it.. But we didn't have anyone come to our holiday openhouse (home base business show)
It turned out to be a DUD because of the weather..

So I made fried potato chicken casserole for supper..

Sorry the show was a bust Kay. The weather has a way of doing that, at least you got to see Brooke in her dance recital though.

Ohara-I've been making all of the chocolates in molds lately. I have more to make this week. I've made oreo truffles, caramel-toasted pecan-bourbon filled chocolates, cheesecake filled chocolates, cake balls that have been molded, heath filled chocolates, chocolate dipped cherries, white chocolate pumpkin ganache chocolates and solid chocolates that have been luster dusted. I've also have been making cupcakes and french chocolate cakes too. I have a 1 year anniversary cake do this Wed. also. I made up 4# of southern spiced pecans up already and have only 2# left, so I'll have to make more of these this week also along with low fat lemon bars.
For the life of me I can not get fudge to work. I've only made it right once.

Butterfly-Your kids are growing up so fast. The Christmas photos are just adorable. You are truly blessed.

Everyone else-I hope you are all staying warm and doing great getting ready for the Holidays.

Tonight will be marinated chicken, honey-ginger glazed carrots, homemade bread and mac and cheese.
Yesterday was meatballs, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, rolls and apple pie.
Saturday was cheese pizza
Friday- Went out to eat in Avon, Oh (2 hours away from our house) since it was a Christmas party for one of DH's clients. They had a table set up with blocks of cheese, toasted bread, shrimp and various app's. They ordered us the Filet Mignon with sauce and red skinned potatoes. Dessert was a very thin chocolate cake topped with chocolate mousse and chocolate sauce.
