Hello all.
Janine...your poinsetta is BEAUTIFUL! You should be very proud of yourself. Glad you had such a good time in class. Thats a lot of cup cakes, but I know you can do it. Oh...and I never have to look for lost pounds...they just seem to fine me icon_surprised.gif
Melissa...what kind of cake are you making for the funeral? Are you doing a sheet or a stacked? I'm sure it will be much appreciated. Your French chocolate cake sounds soooooo good!
K2....I agree, it would be great if we could all get together. Scream time....lol I remember it well.

I roasted a pork loin on the grill last night. It was yummy. Tonight I think they are eating leftovers. I am not feeling very well. I woke up with a sore throat this morning and now I'm running a fever. I have 48 hours to feel better, because I'm going away for the weekend with DH and friends....no matter what!
Have a good on table friends!!!!

Well guys every time I start to write something here the tapedshut.gif phone rings, then I lose the computer. Oh well 3rd time lucky.

Ohara yup Spring has sprung here and the weather is weird 15C windy and rainy one day and 30C sunny and still the next, go figure. Hope you enjoy your weekend away and I'll send some wind over to blow the fever away.

Janine your poinsettia is beautiful and obviously I didn't fib when I said I knew a terrific decorator. You must be exhausted with all these courses, exams and cakes that you do but you really must love it.

mkolmar I've never heard of a funeral cake before, wouldn't have any idea what to do, is that a big thing over there? BTW my poor bride had the rainiest day for her wedding but she was very matter of fact about it.

K2cakes what a great idea I reckon a central place could be somewhere in the middle of the ocean. Lets go on a cruise ship thumbs_up.gifparty.gif . Oh and I haven't posted the cookies cause I'm just doing a trial run the wedding is not until February.

Well lets see we had Marinated Salmon Salad, on the coldest day this month, naturally icon_rolleyes.gif but I'd already bought the Salmon yum it was nice.
Pork Scotch fillet with corn, baby potatoes, broccoli and fresh asparagus.
Tonight we're having Chicken & Prawn Chop Suey my friend is coming over (we're babysitting her) her DH is away and her kids have all gone out, so maybe a glass of wine or 2 icon_lol.gif

Have a fun weekend guys

The cake I ended up making for the funeral was a stacked sheet that was all white BC with the diamond pattern on the sides. I hand painted all the lines purple. A few diamonds were painted purple, silver and rose pink while the majority remained white. I used the string pearl mold to do the edges of the cakes as well as the top and bottom border and then I lightly luster dusted that with pearl and silver. Some Duff roses in pink and white on top and in the corners and then the top of the cake had a swirly luster dust pattern of silver with rose accents that you could hardly see. I hated the cake so much (as well as was rushed) I didn't take a photo. I was embarrassed by it and dropped it off and ran. Thank goodness I didn't get paid for it, since I donated it.
*Don't you know I received a few calls thanking me for the cake and gushing over how beautiful it was icon_confused.gif

Sparkle-After the funerals here in the US we have a lunch buffet/pot luck. Anything food wise pretty much goes. It usually casseroles with some kind of meat and salads plus desserts.

K2- (homegirl)I would love to meet up with everyone! Let's all start saving our pennies so we can. That means not paying the bills ladies! icon_wink.gif I mean we have our priorities to visit first.
I'm game for finally getting to meet you all. You are all like family. (but not crazy and stress causing like mine)

Janine--your work is amazing once again. Your poinsetta is breathtaking.

Ohara--Great job on the weight loss girl! I'm so happy for you.
Kay-how have you been? Still running around like crazy and working your butt off?

Has anyone heard from Mewie in a while? I miss that New Yorker!

Well, I've only lost 1 pound so far but my jeans are fitting a lot better. THANK THE LORD ABOVE! I still have a lot more work to put in but so far so good. I just want to dive head first into a dessert and eat my way out. No, No I don't. Stop reaching for that fork Melissa!!! BAD, BAD. Yes, give it to me---I want sugar and fat and treat--Oh my. AHHHHHH, I have to go hit the gym....you all have a great night!

Ok I think I am ready to slow down for awhile and sit a spell at the table. I just put the last Oct. cake to bed last night. I was for Brooke my DD.. She wanted a funny face pumpkin cake flavor pumpkin.. She loved it. I will still need to make pumpkin flavored cupcakes for her B-Day party on Sat. But nothing fancy.. I am just so dang exhausted. I power lounged Fri. night. I had to make myself finsh off great nephews B-Day cake. It was easy peasy but I was just wiped out. Thank god it was a monster truck cake and they bought toys to put on the cake. All I had to do was ice it and put dirt (crushed up oreos) on it with the cars and monster trucks..But it was all I had I me to finish the cake.

But after some rest I was able to pull off Brookes cake.. Now I have a few in the next few weeks. And I will be doing some craft shows with my candles. Those can be extremly tiring also. But I hope I will be able to sit more at the table this month..

Ok monday night supper was spaghetti
Tuesday was Brooke's B-Day meal Meatloaf. cheesy mashed potatoes and pork and beans.. Her total fav meal.. I am making hamburgers for Mike when he gets off of work in the morning..

Catch up with you all tomorrow

Hello friends.

Thanks for the congrats on the weight loss. I am still working on it. The story of my life icon_wink.gif Halloween candy will be a temptation...although, we have had the candy in the house for several weeks now.
We had a good time last weekend out of town with our friends. It was very quick....but nice. This Saturday DH and I are going away for 6 days. Grandma (MIL) is coming to stay with our youngest. We are going to Myrtle Beach, SC. It won't be very warm, but I love the beach. We are staying on the beach...so it will at least look lovely from inside. DH had some more vacation time that couldn't be rolled over...so it was use it or lose it. So off we go. I told him I would go only if Grandma would come over...I know DD will do great with her. It will be more difficult to watch what I eat....but that's ok, when I get home I will get back on it. I am feeling much better. My oldest got it an DH is fighting it off right now. We get our flu shot on 11/7.

Melissa....good question... where is Mewie? Glad they liked the cake you took to the funeral. I'm sure it was much appericiated. Are your kids going out trick or treating? Ours is actually on Thursday not Friday. It is cold here, I'm sure it is cold up north at your place. Did you have snow this week? We had some snow on Monday...none of it stuck, thankfully!

Kay....glad you got to power lounge...I hope there is more of that in your near future. How old is Brooke now? I hope she has/had a great birthday.

Janine...your rugby cake is awesome. What cute figures. Well done. You can ring your own bell here any time. Your right, it does make it so much more worth while when they appericiate your work. Do you all celebrate Halloween in your part of the world?

Sparkle....I hope you enjoyed your friend for the evening...and the wine of course icon_wink.gif How about in your part of the world....do you all have Halloween? And I think your idea of a cruise ship is GREAT!!! Count me in.

K2.....what is your little one dressing up as? or is she? Is it cold at your house? Hope all is well with you and yours.

Well time to finish cleaning the house as my MIL will be here in a few hours. Have a great day ladies.

My oldest daughter is going as a punk pirate. Her costume is really cute. It's a short sleeved black dress that's kind of velvety. It has a black ribbon lace up and some bright pink patches on it. The dress is short so she is wearing black leggings and then black stretchy pants under it. She also will be wearing a black long sleeve under it.
My oldest son is going as a wizard. He has a dark blue wizard hat and robe with silver stars on it and a plastic wand that looks like a stick.
My youngest daughter is going as a parrot. Her costume is really warm so she may not have to wear a coat with hers like the others will.
My youngest son is going as a fireman. He has a fireman coat even so we are putting that over his fireman costume to keep him warm and snuggly.

It's cold here, but it hasn't snowed yet. I'm not one for snow so it can take a while to get here. icon_wink.gif

I have a chef board meeting tonight so I'll be eating at Panera's. My kids will be having probably fast food since grandma will be here and she wants to get it for them. DH will have a to go order from Panera's for dinner also.

Sorry I can't chat to long. I have to go to the gym to get trained in a few minutes.

Ok tonight was dance night so crazy night. LOL

Brooke had leftover meatloaf and cheesy mashed potatoes..

I am making steak and fried potatoes for myself and Mike when he gets off work..

I baked 9 dozen pumpkin cupcakes tonight. 2 dozen are for Brooke's B-Day party Sat. And the rest I am taking to work. Yes I work in a grocery store bakery BUT we only do white, choc, and marble cakes. So I thought this would be a fun treat for Halloween..They will have cream cheese frosting.. Ok the last batch just buzzed gotta go

No problem Ohara--I'm no expert but I do know some about chocolate.

Kids had a great time trick or treating. It was actually pretty warm out and now it's getting colder again.

Kay-how was Brook's party? Bad girl, tempting us with pumpkin cupcakes and not sharing the recipe. *HINT*

Tonight was veal patties with spaghetti and salad with garlic bread. SIL made cupcakes and I made chocolates. Goodness are chocolates time consuming! All of them where molded and were made out of dark-bittersweet chocolate from Cocoa Barry. They were marzipan with whiskey, Oreo truffles, solid chocolate squares, chocolate squares with Heath candy bits mixed in and chocolates filled with caramel-bourbon-toasted pecan filling.
I'm starting to gain a little weight again....I wonder why? icon_rolleyes.gif Could it be all the eating....nope, couldn't be that.

Hi Everyone

Wow, halloween come and gone!! hope you all had a wonderful time and an awesome halloween!!

Kay - youre sure one busy busy lady, and the pumpkin cup cakes sound so yummy - Hope her birthday went well

Ohara - Thanks for the lovely comment about the sharks cake - lol was soooo much fun. No unfortunately we dont celebrate halloweeen here, i thought i would enter the contest, but have been too busy with cake tastings etc - lol maybe next year - lol
Glad you had a great time away, and hope that this one is just as good if not better - grandma's are just the right thing for grand kids when the parents go away - mine used to come stay often, and it was awesome, miss her terribly though!!

Mkolmar - your kids costumes sound awesome, and halloween sounds so much fun - glad they enjoyed it all.the chocolates sound awesome!!! mmmm makes me crave them - lol

k2cakes - Your little ones costume sounds awesome too, I cant wait to see which is your entry. Im sure it is amazing!!

I had a busy weekend - lol friday especially, had cup cake orders and a birthday cake for collection at 8:30am saturday then i hit a very blonde moment and decided to donate a cake to the cancer assosiation who were having a fund raising evening on - yes you guessed it friday night - lol so i baked and iced a rich moist chocolate cake, and donated it, they made a lot of money on raffeling it off, so that is a good thing - i saw the advert late friday morning and then phoned - aaaiiii, lol but it was well worth it.

friday night we had - what we call slap chips, like the english's fish and chips - lol
saturday - we bbq'd late evening with my folks, steak, mutton chops and tons of salads, garlicy cheese bread and corn on the cob
sunday was a duplicate of saturday - lol the weather has been awesome and hot, so we were taking advantage - lol

monday we had steak burgers with salad

Hope all are well, and have a wonderful day today

Well hi everyone I'm just back from a short trip away up the coast. My friend and I ditched our DH's and kids and took off icon_eek.gificon_surprised.gif . We went to a beautiful spot called Port Macquarie and lazed at the beach, even though it was overcast. We also ate fresh prawns and mango with a beer icon_lol.gif and wondered what the poor people were doing (we soon found out when we got back though icon_wink.gif ). To top it off we did something neither of us has done before and went whale watching out at sea, awesome is the only word I can think of to describe it. The whales are going south to the cooler waters and we watched mum, dad and baby playing, it was well, awesome icon_biggrin.gif . A couple of days not being mum, maid, wife etc was definitely a great battery recharger. First I felt guilty as I've never gone away with DH and kids but I soon got over that icon_lol.gif

mklomer - we're our own worst critics when it comes to cakes, I'm sure it wasn't anywhere near as bad as you thought. After funerals we either go home or if your close to the family we go, usually to someones house and have fingerfood or arvo/morning tea. Thanks for the chocolate info that is something I'm printing off for future use.

Janine - itsn't it great when you get compliments back from a customer, your feet don't touch the ground and you forget about all the hours you but into the cake. Good on you, you can toot your own horn anytime you like.

Kay - pumpkin flavoured cupcakes icon_eek.gif I've heard of pumpkin scones and pie but cupcakes?? We don't really do much with pumpkin here except bake it. I think you better share the recipe so I can test this one out icon_confused.gif

Ohara - well the friend I had the wine with was the one I went away with so yup we definitely enjoyed our wine icon_lol.gif . Halloween isn't really big here some years we have a few kids come to the door this year none.
Hope you had a great holiday too.

Well I'll tell you what I ate while I was away and didn't have to cook thumbs_up.gif
1st night fishermans basket, fish, prawns, scallops, calamari and chips icon_redface.gif .
2nd night we had chicken nachos then later we had some cheese with a bottle of red icon_redface.gif
3rd night I had grilled barramundi with rice and vegies
all these meals came with a great view and good company and I didn't have to lift a finger. Hmm we might have to organise this again thumbs_up.gif

Have a relaxing week girls icon_biggrin.gif

First off I am jealous of all of you who can get away. And especially jealous of those that can ditch the kids and DH's I love um and all. But I would like just ONE DAY to myself..LOL I guess I should say one day away from home without family. cause occasionally I get a day at home without anyone and that is nice but I am usually caking..

Ok on to the pumpkin cupcakes.. They are so easy you all will hate me LOL

The catch is the secret ingredient.. PM me if you want the recipe... I will get it to you guys after this weekend..

I am getting ready for the Glitz show at the mall with my candles. It is every year for home based businesses. They also have a fashion show to draw people to the mall. Only catch is this year I will be helping with the whole thing (kind of running it all and setting it up and tearing it down) The girl that usually does it. Moved to Nashville and can't come back for the show. So I get free rental space for all my work. So I will be living at the mall for the next 5 days ((CRY)) MALL FOOD YUCK

Brooke's B-Day party went pretty good. I had 9 kids total. 1 Boy and 1 girl that was 8 yrs old the rest were 10. That gigglely, chatter stage but they did pretty good. We started out with a cheese pizza. They all had a slice but wanted more. But then they had pumpkin cupcake cake decorated HSM 3. Then down to the movie we went. I got a awesome deal on pop and popcorn. They have a large special. It is a large popcorn, 2 large pops, and a candy for 11.75. But they gave me 9 little bags half full of popcorn and the big bag to refill them. And 9 little cups full of pop plus the 2 big ones. And we could refill them for free. So the kiddos that were still a little hungry got full on popcorn. Only draw back they all had to go to the bathroom during the movie LOL..

Ok what did we eat??

Tuesday Brooke had Girl scouts so we had hamburgers and fries.

Monday chicken rice burrito's

Sunday Country style BBQ ribs, cheesy mashed potatoes

Ok gotta go do dishes. I had to bake a cake for my sis's B-Day Fri. It will be easy decorated nothing fancy just cake frosted.. My niece called me today and asked if I could do it and STUPID me said YES..

Chat later

Hello cake friends ~ how is everyone today?

I'll get down to business, as I usually forget to mention I eat...
Digestibles
Soy "chicken" patties with homemade sage/tomato sauce
oven roasted asparagus
sauted bella mushrooms and orange bell peppers
Brown rice

desert ~ (a rare treat or it ends up on my AS$)
soy ice-cream sandwich (90 cals - and worth EVERY one)

MKolmar~ miss you girl. How are you doing? Your cakes are beautiful!! I bet your kids looked adorable on Halloween... we should post Halloween pics on here. Feel free to call me anytime... I loved talking to you. hat1.gif

Kay~ don't you wish dishes did themselves? Such cyclical work... I wish I lived closer so I could see your candles. And those pumpkin cupcakes sound SO YUMMY... I may just have to beg you for the recipe. icon_wink.gif

Sparklepop ~ Hope the trip was wonderful! I used to have a friend from Brisbane... years ago. I've never made it to Australia, such a long flight. Have you been to the states? icon_smile.gif

janine1972 ~ Glad the weather is so hot. It's starting to get cold here... although it was almost 70 yesterday, which stirred up all the flying bugs. icon_rolleyes.gif

Ohara ~ do you do a lot of chocolate work? I have a hard time melting without burning... I'd love to see your work. icon_smile.gif

Well, I've been beating off a cold (successfully, so far) but the kiddo and hubby have taken the brunt of it the past few days. My daughter, who's 3 1/2, woke up screaming in pain last night and I couldn't figure it out and it really freaked me out... figured out it was her stomach (intestinal gas) and her throat and head hurt. I don't think she's ever felt like that before, she's pretty healthy. I felt like such a bad Mom for not knowing what to do beyond comforting her... I knew it wasn't an "emergency" but I selfishly felt helpless. I finally brought her into bed with us and she snuggled right next to me and slept peacefully until 6am. I love that kid!!! It's times like that that make all the tantrums worth it... to understand that this tiny person trusts me with her life is just so humbling and almost terrifying.
She was ecstatic that my husband brought home her favorite herbal remedy tonight, as she calls the substitute one "yucky", and I have to agree. The "good" one doesn't have the nasty taste of zinc... and it immediately coats the throat and boosts immunity. Elderberry works wonders!!!

Sorry so long tonight... HAVE A GOOD NIGHT everyone... Let's get to the table more often. "Eating" once a week makes me grouchy. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hey, I have Elderberry in my house too. It does work though.

I should have mentioned this a long time ago but this is what my DR. told me to do when you start feeling sick. It sounds really odd but it does help so don't laugh icon_wink.gif Take hydrogen peroxide and put 1-2 drops in one ear and wait for it to stop bubbling, then do the same thing on the other side. This is for any kind of aches and icky sickness pain when it first starts. Try to eat chicken, beef, fish, lamb and broth. Do not eat chocolate, nuts, whole grains, raisins, sunflower seeds, popcorn and jello. This will make the illness stay longer in your body and take longer to heal.

Tonight was spinach-ricotta stuffed shells in marinara sauce topped with melted cheese, roasted asparagus and garlic bread.
Yesterday was marinated steak, italian chicken and cajun chicken that I all cooked on the grill. Roasted potatoes, salad, grilled and buttered bread, green beans and a few pieces of halloween candy.
I have not been eating as healthy----curse you candy!!!! I'm weak around sweets because my body craves it now, that and salt.

I have to go because I'll be in meetings the next 2 days from 8:30 till 3:30. Got to work out and go to bed.
I'll chat with you all later. Have a great night my table buddies.

I only have a moment. I've been up so long my eyeballs are burning. I had dinner at my mom and dads tonight. We had southern food. It was ham, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, collard greens, corn casserole, lima beans (I actually tried them and they were alright), yams and rolls. For dessert their was molded oreo truffles, no-bake cookies and scratch brownies.

I ate way too many sweets. I can feel my butt getting larger as I type.

Well I guess you all are starving like my family LOL

Not really I was just busy with a couple of B-Day cakes the last couple of days..

Monday was Chili it was cold and rainy here.
Tuesday was Beef Stew made with leftover steak
Wed. was scalloped (sp) Potatoes and ham thanks to the packaged scalloped potatoes.
Tonight dance night so it was tacos or taco salad.

I am trying to play catch up on house work. I am also working on putting a holiday openhouse together for some homebase businesses. So I may be MIA alittle. I will still try to read even if I don't have time to post..

I hope you all are fine and gearing up for the holidays..

Well time go fast it's been 2 weeks since I went away, I think I went away or was it a dream icon_surprised.gif . Anyway hit the ground running. I had to demonstrate for our Guild meeting the following week. Cupcakes was the go made into Pixies and snowmen quite cute really. Unfortunately I'm not a very good demonstrator as my hands shake soo much that I can never do what I want icon_cry.gif . Oh well it's over now.
Today I just finished a record player cake for a 21 year old DJ I'm taking pics and will post in the next couple of days. It turned out OK and was something completely different, a new learning curve.

K2Cakes - Nup never been to the US, wouldn't mind though since I've got lots of people I could see icon_lol.gif . Haven't been anywhere outside Oz except New Zealand for a day, don't think that counts though icon_rolleyes.gif . I keep buying them lottery tickets and when I win I'll come visit icon_lol.gif .

mklomar - I don't think we get Elderberry wine here I've heard of it though I think Elton John sang a song about it icon_lol.gif must be good stuff. Dont the hydrogen peroxide thing though can't remember what we did it for, it was when I was a kid (only a couple of years ago icon_redface.gif ). Hope you're feeling better.

shanzah67 - where is MO? Not very clued up on some of the abbreviations of the states. Welcome to the table too.

Kay - What happens when you stop running around like a mad woman icon_wink.gif

Well I guess you're all gearing up for Thanksgiving. I don't know how you do it Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, we have enough trouble with Christmas icon_wink.gif

Well lets see what we've been eating.
Tonight was burgers from the local Milk Bar cause I was finishing off the cake.
Last night we had a baked pork roll with potatoes, sweet potato, pumpkin, peas, carrots
Wednesday was home made been Cannelloni with salad

Hello table friends. A couple of weeks have passed since I posted. They have been eventful. DH and I went out of town for 5 days to celebrate my birthday. He had vacation time that needed to be used as it could not be carried over into next year. We traveled to Myrtle Beach. The weather was not great, but we had a very peaceful time. We stayed right on the ocean. The weather was nice enough that we could leave the door open all night and listen to the waves all night.(We were on the 11th floor) I could live on the ocean and never tire of the sound of waves crashing! I love the ocean.
We came home on Thursday evening as DH had to work on Friday. He went in only to find out that he had be downsized (the nice way of saying that you are unemployed). No work coming in....so they had to let him go.
I know that all will be well...I know that God is in control. I just have to keep reminding myself of this when I start to stress out.

I have been cooking...
Taco salad...and with the left over meat (I made extra) I made burritos and froze them for future use.
I made an enchilada casserole
Beef stew
I think I will make spaghetti for tomorrow after church.

Is anyone cooking Thanksgiving dinner? I will be cooking for 16....not only for Thanksgiving dinner but for the whole weekend. My sister and her family and my brother and his new wife are supposed to be coming from Illinois ... Wednesday through Sunday.

I hope all are well.

Ohara- I'm so sorry about your DH's job. I'll be praying for your family. (glad to hear you had a good birthday though)

I'm helping my daughter with my homework so I have to be really quick.
Tonight was honey BBQ marinated chicken breast, honey-butter glazed carrots, italian bread and applesauce. Just made some hot chocolate for the kids too. With the wind chill today it was 18 degrees. BRRRRR!
Yesterday was spaghetti with meat balls, green beans and garlic bread.
Monday was chicken-spinach-feta brats, baked seasoned waffle fries, mandarin oranges and baked bread with butter.

Hope you all are staying warm, and for our 2 table friends overseas, I hope spring is warming up for you.

Hello everyone ~

tonight ~
homemade vegan Mac & "cheese" (which I rocked the hell out of icon_rolleyes.gif )
veggie hotdogs, sliced and browned
steamed broccoli

Shanzah67~ welcome and hello !!!
Ohara~ I'm sorry about your husband's job... you're in my thoughts.
Melissa~ I hope you're feeling better. It's also freezing here... Your food descriptions sound so yummy... you could write menus for gourmet restaurants.
kaychristensen ~ I wish I could power-lounge... haven't done that in 3 1/2 years... so glad I slept so much when I was pregnant... I knew it was fleeting. I feel asleep mid-sentence more than once...
Sparklepop ~ hello, what's a milk bar??? I'm curious...
janine1972 ~ How have you been?

It's very cold here, infact this time of year my feet are constantly cold, even with two pairs of socks and warm slippers. I'm anxious for snow so my daughter and I can play in it again this year. Although, I hate driving in the stuff...
OK... My favorite Thanksgiving moving of all time is:
"Home for the Holidays", (Holly Hunter and Robert Downey Jr.) I love a movie that can make you laugh AND cry.... just wanted to share.

I hope everyone is safe, warm and healthy. Take care everyone. icon_smile.gif
