Yesterday I had a catering event. I cooked for 70 people. It went well. My family had the leftovers. icon_lol.gif
Today we are having homemade vegetable beef soup. I will probably make bread to go with it.

Morningglories...I am so glad you vacation was great. We took our DD(autistic as well) to Disneyworld this year. She did really well there. I haven't been to Disneyland. It sounds great.

Dodi...that's what I was talking about. Cajun talapia YUM!!

Welcome Peacockplace.

Monica how was the Christmas Party at church??

Knox...I like Morningglories version of vacation WAY better than your working vacation. My goodness girl you have worked hard this week. Have you gotten any shopping done?

Kay...almost time for cookie sales icon_eek.gif Wow. Where does the time go!

It's always great sitting at the table with you ladies.

Welcome Peacock to the table! hope ya'll are doing well. Tonight is breakfast for dinner. Scrambled eggs (some sprinkled with melted cheese for the kids) big ol' omlet for my DH with mushrooms, potato and bell pepper with montery jack and cheddar cheese and a little ham. Home fried potatoes on the side, toast and bisquits with jelly on the side and homemade honey butter. Kids will have some bacon with it too and a little peppers for the veggies Ok I better get cooking now. Todays also my dad's birthday so I took him a rib-eye sandwich for lunch with onion straws and fries. He doesn't like cake that well icon_confused.gif

I love breakfast for dinner but funny I don't really care for breakfast at breakfast time! icon_confused.gif yes, I'm weired, I know! icon_biggrin.gif

Ohara I need you to cater for my bil's wedding (well 1st he has to get divorced but that's another story for another thread icon_smile.gif ). My husband's step-mom is saying she's going to cook for it and all I want to do is icon_cry.gif I've never really known anyone that was a terrible cook-till her! But she thinks she is the world's greatest Italian cook-blah! Seriously, dumping a can of plain tomato sauce into a pot isn't my idea of great sauce! Oh yeah and she volunteered me to make the cake! icon_eek.gif

Tonight we had:

Meatloaf a'la dodibug (don't know if it's Italian meatloaf, southern or what so dh said it's a'la dodibug icon_smile.gif )
mashed red potatoes
little green peas
homemade biscuits (Alton Brown recipe-came out really good-not as good as my momma's but good)
I broke down and bought some Coke. I was trying to be good and lay off but I need my fix!

I had a BIG chunk of the Thanksgiving ham left over in the freezer. I put that in with black-eyed peas this evening. Throw in some good ol' bisquits, and----Yummm.

--Knox--

P.S: DANG, MONICA!!! Why don't you just make me drool why don'tcha with all that good church party food!!

Knox- you were cracking me up with that vacuum comment. icon_lol.gif

Dodi-I love breakfast for dinner too so I do not think thats weird.

Ohara- I catered my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary in January. It was for about 40 people. It was TONS of fun.

WElCOME back Dalt!!!!

I don't like breakfast for breakfast either, I'll only eat it at dinner time which drives my mom and MIL crazy icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif That's why we had breakfast food for dinner tonight. Just left a christmas concert played by the Toledo Symphony at St.Joes church (my friends church) it's always so amazing to hear the different styles of music and then people singing. Too bad I can't stay for their cookies and treats afterwards made by a bakery, darn those kids and the responsibilities of being a mommy icon_lol.gif .

Anyways dinner #2 is cake balls or cake gems as my mom calls them.

We had ham sandwiches. Spent most of the day at the doc office with mom. Just barely had time to scarf down the sandwiches and chips before church.

Knox--Mom bought us a Dyson with the roller ball turning thing (how that for technical). We absolutely love it.

Ok My DS made Chili Mac that I usually do. But I had to guide him through it Because I was trying to get bro's girlfriends B-Day cake done. I couldn't take it over there today to work on. It turned out cute, I wanted to do more but I was ok with it. And she was totally suprised. I wound up making a purple camo cake. I did those dang stars on it icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif But it looked good that way. I need to get the pics developed and hope they turn out.

Welcome back Daltonam

Monica congrats on the cake order thumbs_up.gif Your feast sounded good.

Knox I guess do like we did last year. Tear it apart find out if something is broke and super glue it. Put it back together and hope I will vacuum just one more time icon_lol.gif That is what I had to do last year at christmas time. And DH got me a $40 vacuum for christmas icon_lol.gif I know how high priced they can be icon_cry.gif

We do breakfast for dinner and lunch alot. Especially on the weekend. When we are lazy icon_lol.gif

Ohara your soup sounds good. It is going to get COLD here tonight 9 degrees and with windchill -5 BBBRRRRR icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

Everybody must be busy. Hope I don't forget anyone. If I do I humbly apologize. icon_redface.gif

O'hara...Your soup sounded so good I had to make one of my own tonight. If I decide on chicken breast tommorow you'll know where I swiped the idea from. icon_smile.gif Thank you for sharing my vacation happiness. DS did good even though he could only handle things for a limited time. It helped that our hotel was only a block up and had a shuttle going every 20min. With that service I could take him 'home' anytime he need to be there.

Moni...I gained weight just reading your post. Okay, it is all imaginary but now I'll have to do imaginary exercises. icon_lol.gif ?...What is Pumpkin Fluff? Congrats on the CCC order. We haven't done one yet, but I'm thinking real hard about giving it a try.

mkolmar...Breakfast for dinner. thumbs_up.gif I'm not a fan of it for breakfast either. thumbsdown.gif Your spaghetti sounds delish. I'll have to try that one day. I like the name 'Cake Gems' it sounds so Posh. icon_wink.gif

Dodi...Mmmm I love meatloaf, but couldn't make it if my life depended on it. 'Meatloaf a'la Gloria' will always taste like Alpo. It happens everytime I touch ground beef. icon_confused.gif

knox...You're one very busy vacationing lady, whipping up Tornados. Blk-eye peas w/ham, & biscuits. -I'll take a Dbl shot Tornado, if you please. What??? It's called a Hurricane? Okay I'll take a Dbl shot of one of those too. dunce.gif

daltonam...Good girl, breaking out the cooking pans and borrowing recipes from knox. And to think I was expecting you to have more frozen pizza's. icon_eek.gif Shame on me. icon_redface.gif
Psssst... shhh.gif I think knox is the table Mom judge.gif , and your the Hostess princess.gif . I could be wrong though, all those imaginary exercises I did earlier may have been to hard on my brain. ouch.gif

juju...Mmmm love ham sandwiches & bbq pork roast, but those Brwn-N-Serve rolls, ooooooh I really love them. They always bring back the memory of school lunches when I smell them. icon_biggrin.gif

KC...My DH is always telling me to 'Delegate'. I guess if I did I'd be able to make a cake while dinner was cooking. Hope your Bro's GF loved it, and let us know when you get it in your Gallery. birthday.gif

pea... I'm sure your soup would have tasted good tonight too ,but your Turkey Burgers were a quick fix, and at least you did have time to do what you wanted to.

Okay I think I'm caught up with everyone tonight.
See you all tommorrow.

Ok it was our crazy dance practice night. So DD wanted left over taco salad from a few days ago. DS had his leftover Chili Mac and Tator Tots. Me I don't know what I will make to eat for myself. I snacked on a few tator tots earlier.

Glories my DS loves to cook. He is almost 16. He is taking a foods class this year at school and loves it. He sometimes needs some help. Especially if it is something that I make that he loves and wants to replicate it. So if I am really busy he will help cook icon_biggrin.gif

Date Night... icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif
Tonight's Menu
************
???? For DH & I
Leftovers-
Caldo De Albondiga
or 5 Cheese Ravioli
or Homemade Tacos for the Kiddo's
They could also opt to eat none of that
and have their Poppa buy Pizza.
************

KC... So nice that your big guy loves to cook. Then when he is on his own you won't have to worry about him starving on the nights he isn't at your table.

It's a good thing for me that no one was hungry for dinner conversation last night. Since returning from vacation I've been walking circles around this table trying to catch up.
Whew...now I can sit down and snack. icon_smile.gif

Campbell's creamy veg & chicken casserole.

Take a bag of frozen mixed vegetables and mix in a can of Cream of mushroom and 1/2 cup sour cream. Place 1/2 box dry stuffing mix on the bottom of a 13x9. Mix the rest of the stuffing mix with 1 cup water and 3 tbs. butter. Chicken breast chunks on top of the dry stuffing. Mixed vegetables mixture over top of this, and then the prepared (wet) stuffing on top of that. Bake for 45 minutes or so at like 375.

Lawwwd, y'all! icon_surprised.gif Have y'all looked at the TRAFFIC this weekend?? Shoo!

SHOPPING: Laaawwwd-habb-mursee. I got behind some nasty ol' skeezer woman in line. She...well, she---(blew one off) right in FRONT of me! icon_mad.gificon_eek.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gif Yeah. I gave her the AWFULest (country word for "damnedest") look and switched lines. Yeah...along with three other people. Other than that, I bought my kid a computer, and a PSP game. That's it so far. You know how when you've actually GOT cash? There's never anything you want. Now if you're BROKE...yeah--you want everything in sight! icon_wink.gif

KAY: Ham and cheese sammiches sound good right now!

MORNINGGLORIES: Date night?? My idea of "quality time" with my Old Man is when I get his paycheck! icon_biggrin.gif I'll make you a tornado or hurricane next time you get to Knoxville.

MXPARK: We missed you girl!

JUJU: 5 parades? I'll bet you get colder 'n Cooty Brown! icon_razz.gif

O'HARA: Enchiladas! My friend was talking to me today about some enchiladas. I might have to make some... icon_rolleyes.gif

MKOLMAR: Hope you get better soon. Nothing more than being sick to your stomach. I know. I was sick like that every day just about, for like 10 years. thumbsdown.gif

PEACOCK: At least you've got your tree up. You're ahead of me--I'm doing ours next Friday.

DODI & MONICA: Where y'all at??

Howdy ya'll!!! I'm feeling a little better today. icon_razz.gif 3 of my kids are staying a night with my mom and my 10 year old niece is there too! My kids did eat pizza that granny brought over before they left.

It's 9:30 pm here right now and my DH is still at work and he left at 9 am this morning---I'm making him Cajun Chicken Pasta when he gets home. I'm not risking eating anything more than bland ol' cheerios right now!

KNOX: shopping is crazy right now girl! I can't blaim you for switching lines--YUCK!

MORNINGGLORIES: Date night sounds fun.

JUJU--you are insaine for going to 5 parades in this cold, I need you to go speak to a professional icon_lol.gif just kidding

and to everyone else here --I hope you are doing fine and well this evening! Sorry to cut it short but I have a final exam I have to study for over about 800 pages of material and I've been putting it off till now. I'm sorry but my teachers need to know that CC is just too ADDICTIVE!

mkolmar Speaking of addictive. I was making grilled cheese for babysiting kids. Or should I say burning grilled cheese. I thought the big pan will take awhile to heat up. I decided to check my mail from CC and burned the first 3. icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif I now remember why I don't cook and CC at the same time icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif Glad you are feeling better thumbs_up.gif

Knox I took DS to get shoes for an early B-Day gift and OMG. K-mart and Target then we went home. I later went to my favorite place Hobby Lobby and they were pack house as well. Had to use my 40% coupon to get DS a model for his B-Day. MAN I hate shopping when there are tons of people icon_cry.gif

Ok kiddos had the grilled cheese with mac-n-cheese. And DS and my nephew stopped by and polished the rest of Mac-n-cheese off. I made DH steak and baked potato. We were going to eat together tonight. But he took DD to the Ice age movie. His work paid for all the employees and thier kids to go. So afterwork this morning he took her. And he stayed up to spend some time with her. So I fed him early so he could get some sleep. No date night tonight icon_lol.gificon_cry.gif oh well he will be off for a week and half over Christmas. So I will get some quality time and then some WHEN DO YOU GO BACK TO WORK I AM PULLING MY HAIR OUT TIME icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif Him and the KIDS icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif DS will have his drivers licencse then so he will probably make himself scarce.
