Tonight was disaster in the kitchen. Supper had to be done so we could leave by 6pm. Me to go with an aunt and finish Christmas shopping and DH so he could get the kids to see Open Season at 6:50pm at the cheap movie theater. I started fixing BBQ chicken and fried taters
but the chicken wasn't done UGH! So I pulled out some corndogs and cooked them except they didn't get done. So I put them in the microwave to cook and almost over cooked them. They were seconds away from exploding. Oh well we got fed anyhow...lol.
Zmama no I don't put in grape jelly. I use KC Masterpiece regular BBQ and add brown sugar to sweeten it more. We only get smokies this time of the year because it's about the only time we can find them. My DS (age 4) says he will only eat mom's smokies.
WHEW!! Y'all are as busy as me! ![]()
JUJU: I love those Lil' Smokies. And I've undercooked my chicken a few times too.
ZMAMA: Yeah. I know about the dang'd growth spurts. All too well. GAH!
I've been craving spaghetti..... ![]()
MONICA: If you've got what I had, it lasted like 3 1/2 days. I was weak, light-headed, and my stomach was upset. 'Course, it coulda been thinking about all these dang'd cakes I've gotta do, too. I don't know what it was--but that was about the "it" of the symptoms. IE, there wasn't anything ELSE to go along with the above mentioned "yuck." Just that stuff. HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER SOON! Just take it easy.
DALTONAM: It's hotter 'n all get out up here. You won't believe it. But at night, you can still build a fire---NICE! Have a great time!
MKOLMAR: Party food!
EXCELLENT!! I love party food. You're lucky! I haven't been to a good party in forever. ![]()
Tonight was:
Mild buffalo wings for the DS and I. I also had some FRIED GREEN TOMATOES!!! Life is good.
DH (aka the Old Man) working at his extra security job, and he ate Sonic.
--Knox--
Checkin in real quick. Babysittin kiddos had grilled cheese or ham
sandwiches and mac-n- cheese. I haven't eatin yet decorating DS cake to take to my mom's for our family Christmas party. He doesn't turn 16 till Wed. but he past his driving test ![]()

Sat. night for dinner I had:
Carne Guisada
Arroz
Frijoles
Tortillas
My dinner was comfort food that DH picked it up on his way home from the Airport. All the kiddos are sick, fever and everything. They aren't eating much of anything. I don't remember what DH ate but he did have a glass of wine after his dinner.
ZAMAMA...Thanks for the encouragement. I appreciate it. I know your right because I have a library shelf full of cook books for every meal imaginable. The problem is, I do good in the kitchen for a while and then I goof for a while. Consistensy is not my middle name when it comes to cooking.
MK...Party food sounds great! The drink I'm not familiar with, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DALT...Happy to hear your enjoying yourself. Oh yeah...congratulations for making it through another year. May this next year bring to you a life filled with lots of love and happiness
MONI...Wishes for a healther time coming your way. Good girl for eating a little something.
JUJU... Thank goodness for corndogs and microwaves. At least everyone was feed.
KC...We posted to close together for me to see you. I understand the mixed feelings, went through that with my oldest son too. We both made it and I'm sure you a your DS will too.
Again Everyone, - Keep warm, Healthy, and Well feed
Gloria
THANKS GUYS -LOL- nothing like begging for a happy birthday- LOL
DALTON. Are you really going to be in Tennessee Thursday?
YES IN GATLINBURG ![]()
DH's so worried about paying for this trip, but it's one of those time-share things, where we have to go sit for 2 hours & we paid for that part of it 2 yrs ago, so with our christmas money from my family we are going to do the rest.
Stopped in to ck the other postings and in rereading mine I realized,
I forgot Mom! ![]()
Sorry ![]()
Knox...I know you've been a whirlwind in that kitchen so I hope everything is finally settling down some. Fried green tomatos?! Those things really exist? I wonder,... do you think I could try my hand at making them so I know what they taste like? If you trust me with a recipe could you please share it?
KC...Speaking of recipes, I forgot to tell you thank you for the Tator-tot casserole recipe. I want to try that too. I'll wait till DH goes out on another business trip to make it for the Kiddos and myself. Thanks.
To all my other dinner mates...Miss Ya, hope everyone is well and that life is good.

I'm so upset, y'all! I lost the picture of my pretty manger cake I finished and delivered today!
It was taken with my new digital camera! Dannnng! I did manage to hold on to the cupcakes picture, though; That's in my gallery. You can really tell the difference between cameras. That cake was so pretty, too.....
Up this morning early to finish the manger cake. Then finished the 40 ornament cupcakes. Delivered both, and went to a new church just to visit.
After the service, they served refreshments. I loved that! (of course!) The manger cake was the star of the show.
MORNING: I've pm'd you the fried green tomatoes recipe. Easy stuff!
DH and I had:
Chicken salad sandwiches
Chips/Dip/Salsa
Fruit punch--home made! YUUUmm!
Cookies
Fruit
Veggie stix and dip
Cheeseball bites (someone had made the cheeseball into little grape-sized bites covered in nuts!! LOTS of work---but----Yuuuum-O!!)
That's all I can remember. Well, back to baking!
I'm back and it looks like you all have been as busy as me. I've promised my kids no more cake until after Christmas. Last night we has subway. This past week has been so crazy I think we had cereal, and grilled cheese. How sad!
Everyone but me had beans and fried potatoes. I had BBQ chicken from last night and hot pepper cheese.
Hey how is everyone doing? I am Exahausted. It has been along day with hardly any sleep. I stayed up to get DS B-Day cake done. Got an hour of sleep then up to go to my moms. Then eat unwrap gifts and back on the road to hurry back for DD dance program. The drive was a 2 hour drive each way. But what sucked was on our way out of town we discovered DS heater core was going out and steaming up the windshield and smelled like antifreeze. It was pretty chilly here so no heat we were all freezing when we got there. Good thing she made Chili and oyster stew and ham sandwiches. To warm us up. And of course Ds banana flavored cake for dessert . I had a few people puzzled as to why it wasn't a typical choc. or white cake. But it was a hit.
Knox your picture is real good quality. What kind of camera did you get. I want one for christmas. But don't know if we can afford it. The cupcakes were cute. What did you use to color the tops?? And I know that bad feeling you get in the pit of your stomach finding out you lost a pic of a beautiful cake. I am feeling your pain and I am so sorry for it. At least you got to see there reaction.
You are all welcome for the recipe. It is one of our favorite comfort foods. I hope it will be for you all
And it is so easy ![]()
daltonam I feel your money pains as well. I hope you enjoy your trip. Have FUN ![]()

hee hee ha ha
we had leftovers tonight, which we didn't have last night, well i did, but everyone else had fast food drive thru, after a trip to wild adventures theme park (thankfully we have passes, ends up being a cheap day out)
okay, so i'm tired & moody, feeling unappreciated, i've been volunteering at the school since last tuesday & working like a dog, fundraising & at anytime that i say i'm tired, i get the impression that some are rolling their eyes at me, i know that one person made a comment, b/c heard it, but i worked all day today by myself (i did have help for 2 hours this morning) & packed up everything to send back to the fundraising company today also, delivered to the classrooms alone & grrrrrrr, i've got DH unhappy b/c the house is past being a wreck!!!!
so i'm so winy right know, sorry everyone
Just a quick check-in, y'all!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Dalton!!party:

Hope you can find some funnnn!! And you know not to pay attention to those lazy a$$ed women who want to talk. You know this. ![]()
MKOLMAR: Oh. My. God. Your kids are sick AGAIN??
I wonder--is it possible they're all eating something that's disagreeing with them? I hope they get better NOW!!
KAY: I know you're tired, Girl! The camera I got was a FUJI F-20. Really love it, but I need a memory card! The camera only holds like 5 photos before you've got to upload 'em. Oh well...Santa's coming soon! ![]()
Hope you feel better soon with the son's driving---although---I don't feel any better with mine driving, and he's 18.
JUJU: I HAD FRIED TATERS TONIGHT, TOO!! lol
PEACOCK: You're busy just like the rest of us. And I love cereal!!
TONIGHT'S DINNER WAS:
(I didn't have any meat in the freezer. I have to keep it bare bones in there to have room for cakes on weeks like this!!) SOOOooo--I had like 1/2 of a smoked sausage and I used it for:
Fried taters w/smoked sausage and onions
Mac & cheese
Peas
Tea w/lemons
Blessings, y'all---pray that I have the strength to get through the next 24 hours----IT'S CRUNCH TIME!!!! ![]()

Stuffed Peppers tonight. Yum.
Tara - Happy Birthday! (a day late and a dollar short)
Kay - hope your brother is doing ok.
We had leftovers. BBQ chicken and fried potatoes. Mom had an angioplasty and stent today. I had been at the hospital since 7:15am. Came home to feed the family then returned to take her some stuff. I'm exhausted. No place for 4 people to sit in her room (3 of her sisters were there so I didn't have to go it alone) . Being the youngest I stood and now my feet are killing me. Should have wore my clogs. My brother couldn't make it because of work difficulties. If her procedure had been open heart surgery then he's have came. She comes home tomorrow.
I made lasagna with cheesy garlic breads. Yummy (I wanted some comfort food real bad)
mkolmar Hope you all get better before Christmas
Knox yum fried potaoes w/smoked sausage with onions I am going to have to try that now. Thanks for the info on the camera. I might wait and see what comes on sale after Christmas. I think my son will be fine I just worry about all the other crappy drivers out there. You know the ones with the cellphone in hand talking and driving right through the red lights ![]()
Good Luck with crunch time
joanmary He is looking real good. He is sore but he is healing really well. It is amazing that he was in ICU for days not knowing the outcome. And now he is walking around(slowly) He has some memory loss but remembers the important stuff. We are very lucky ![]()
Juju I hope your mom gets well fast. I am glad you had hers sisters for support.
OK I better get my butt back in the kitchen. To get cakes, cupcakes, and candy done for the christmas parties.
peacock My DD loves having cereal anytime of day. She had it twice today. I think she is getting ready for a growth spurt cause she ate alot of food today.
butterfly- hope your mom is doing well, now go get some much needed rest.
dalt--you need to rest too! Fundraising is exhausting work.
Knox- the weather here goes from almost 60 degrees one day to 29 the next lately
It's making a lot of nasty viruses that seems to be all in my kids classrooms
They will get better eventually! Believe it or not this year is nothing compaired to last year yet as far as illnesses go. (keeping my fingers and toes crossed) I sooooo want to move away from Michigan!
wow.......loooong time! just got back from disneyland yesterday. it rained.
we got in really late on friday (we were planning on getting there early to get to disneyland for the fireworks show) so we just went to downtown disney and ate at the rainforest cafe. i had some sort of penne pasta dish wih shrimp and alfredo sauce. it was soooooooooo good.
saturday we did california adventure. it was my first trip there and i loved it. it was raining so there was absolutely no lines and we got to ride everything twice!!!
the only bad part was that they didn't have any of the parades because of the rain. and one of my twin brothers got sick so him and my mom stayed in the hotel room all weekend.
anyway......fast forward....
last night was teriyaki salmon, steamed rice, cauliflower. white chocolate macadamian cookies for dessert.
so i got the job at michael's but i have some rants about that........... ![]()
![]()
Ok ... this is so pathetic, but last night was grilled cheese again. At least we did have carrots and it was wheat bread.
I'm shooting for an actual meal tonight.
last night was....
some sort of tuna pasta dish my mom makes up w/ those rainbow spiral noodles and tuna.
no dessert but i've been drinking at least one cup of vanilla chai tea every night.
peacock - that's not pathetic. when you don't feel like cooking you just go with the easiest thing to make and sometimes thats hot dogs or grilled cheese sandwhiches. ![]()
Hey strangers
I have been a little busy.
Sunday night I made homeade chicken & dumplings, with out the chicken. I just used cream of chicken soup & chicken stock. It was extra yummy. I ate too bowls.
Monday night was grilled cheese & bacon sandwich
Tuesday was plain grilled cheese.
I have no clue about to night.
Last night - nice dinner with the neighbors for Christmas - filet mignon (sp?)
Tonight - granddaughter's (7th) birthday dinner - she picked IHOP!
juju - sending prayers for your mother.
Mom finally got to come home last night. But it wasn't until 9pm. We had to wait and wait and wait on the doctor to release her. She is doing fine. Just a little sore and tired. So I had a cheeseburger and Mr Pibb from the cafeteria at the hospital. The food there is really good. What I really wanted was mom's veal parmesean but they didn't serve it in the cafeteria. It smelled very yummy.
Tonight we had chicken and noodle soup. My 2 yr old has a sore throat. Took her to see mom Monday night and she comes home with a cold. Great huh?....lol. She'll be okay before too long though.
I did get rest Monday night but last night the 2 yr old cried all night long. I wasn't quite sure what was wrong. Finally found out this morning. I then this afternoon canned 5 batches of jelly. Thankfully I used already prepared juice. Then I took a nap...lol.
Ok I made Beef and noodles , mashed potatoes, fried bread.
We are getting a bad ice storm here. Now it is going to turn to snow. He have lost power I have no land line phone. And my cell is a pay as you go phone so I am not sure how many more minutes I have right now.
And to fill you in on more drama in my life. My cousin who is my age died last week. Here funeral was Monday. Tuesday morning my younger sister was admitted to the hospital. They found out tonight blood isn't getting to part of her heart. They are doing more tests in the morning. Now this evening they admitted her grandson who is 1 he is dehydrated and has bad ear infection in both ears. He will be there 24 to 48 hours they think. He is in the peds part of the hospital. My sister and my uncle (who had hernias) are in the ICU. Man Dec. has been HELL for us. 2007 will be a BETTER YEAR
Sorry to bend your ears so much.
Now on to my CC friends
JUJU glad your mom is home and starting to mend
I will be thinking of her
joanmary at least she didn't pick Burger King like my DD did. And Today was DS B-Day and he didn't get to drive much like he wanted. The roads are wicked and lots of falling trees and electric lines. So I only let him go from home to hospital. He only live 3 large blocks from the hospital. He went this evening for awhile to cheer up his cousins little boy. His name is Ethan and just love my son. And my kids went to the dentist today. We had to switch it to today because yesterday we were at the hospital. My poor kids B-Day sucked. And I would love to go to IHOP we don't have one here. So I would love it.
monica hey busy girl
Don't you love how easy grilled cheese sandwiches are to make and YUMMY they are.
mxpark sounds like you had you some fun on your trip.
I hope it was all bad. You had some good eats. I hope your little brother is feeling better. I bet he hated being sick and on vacation ![]()
So whats up with the job that your not liking??
peacock Like I told Monica there isn't anything wrong with grilled cheese sandwiches They are YUMMY and easy ![]()
kay - OMG, December has been bad for you guys. Hopefully, things will start getting better, and, yes, 2007 will be better!!
Granddaughter's lst choice was MickeyD. Mom nixed that fast. Actually I like McD better than IHOP but I am a majority of one.
Wow, Y'all. Seriously beat down over here! VERY busy day--post office to ship a package, cake supply, traffic, grocery store. Yeah. Now I've got a rum cake, a red velvet, and a chocolate silk pie to do. Not to mention the cupcakes for ds's school party tomorrow! ![]()
![]()
I'll be SOOO glad to have the holidays OVER.
Last night was: FISH STICKS AND FRIES.
Tonight was: PIZZA

juju- glad your mom is now at home.
kay, you have had one aweful time! I hope next year is much better for you.
knox- you need to kick your shoes off and relax a little bit. (If you ever get the time) ![]()
Had mac and cheese tonight for dinner. Was running orders for my DH for about 3 hours (non-pay of course, since it's coming out of the same income) but managed to get 1 solid order out of it for in January and one order for this Saturday
that's iffy. She said "Oh can I get you to make me a cake for my birthday this Sat., I figured 1 or 2 days notice would be enough"
I said yes, and to call me but the phone hasn't rang yet. Then again she thought I could do a whole cake (bake and decorate) in less than 1 hour. Don't you just love when people think that
makes me chuckle inside.
Man everyone must be as busy as I was
My feet, legs and hands are killen me. I post poned handing out goodies to friends till the first. Due to all the craziness. But I got the sheet cake and a show cake done for my friends christmas party. The were all going crazy over my show cake. My friend took pics so when I get them from her I will post. It sounds like I will be getting some more orders soon.
I also got the cupcakes done for an order for a diabetic. I wanted to try the recipe from the site. It called for D-Zerta and DANG if I couldn't find it. So I decorated half the order with cream cheese icing and the rest with a dab of sugar free cool whip sprinkled with the wilton sparkles. She totally loved them. So I hope everyone is doing well.
Tonight I made DD favorite meal. Meatloaf, Cheesy mashed potatoes, corn. She loves her MOMMY ![]()
Tomorrow we will go to the nursing home where my G-Ma is at. And have a small get together for her B-Day. We are having sandwiches, I am making potato salad, and brings some of the extra diabetic cupcakes for my G-Ma ![]()
Christmas Day we will go to my Aunts house that lives acroos the street from the nursing home. To have or feast. There will be lots of goodies ![]()
