Y'all---I have been COVERED UP today! thumbsdown.gif It's been one of those days, I reckon...

The Old Man's got a month off, and tonight he cooked dinner. He made the blackeyed peas thing, and cornbread. It's really good and everything, but dang--I'm ready for something DIFFERENT!

Have a meeting tomorrow with a bride, before work on afternoons. I just have a real feeling that she doesn't have any money. icon_cry.gif Oh well--charity at all costs, right? icon_rolleyes.gif

Y'all make a wish for me that she's not a poor bridezilla, ok?! icon_wink.gif

I can handle a regular bridezilla--just not a poor one!

Baked Potato Soup

4oz butter or margarine
1/2 c. flour
1 can chicken broth
3 c. milk
2 c. half-and-half (or 1 cup milk)
7 c. potatoes, peeled, diced
2 1/4 t. seasoning salt
Salt, to taste

Coil diced potatoes until almost tender, about 8 minutes. Drain and set aside. Meanwhile, melt butter in soup pot. Stir in flour with a wire whish until smooth. Cook this roux for 2 minutes over low heat, stirring constantly. Stir in broth gradually. Add milk and half and half. Stir until mixture is smooth. Stire in potatoes and seasonings. Cover and simmer soup on very low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occassionally.

I use all milk instead of the half and half. If mixtrues is too thick, add more milk.

Last night I topped my bowl off with cheese, sour cream, and bacon. Tasted like a loaded baked potato.

Tonight is Pizza Hut per DH's request.

Lawwwwd, Y'all.

I went to meet with the bride and groom yesterday. I'm not thrilled; This is gonna be a difficult ride. I say that because:

1. They have no money. To them, $200 is huge. Maude be with me!
2. They looked like half the people I've arrested.
3. They want a red velvet cake, but no cream cheese icing and no buttercream. They also want "not that sickening sweet stuff." icon_confused.gif
4. I'm guessing (and I say "guessing" because I never got a definite number) they'll want approximately 50-60 servings, with the bride's layer on top to be for the 1st anniv.
5. They want a groom's cake with the emblem from the front of his "business card" to go on the front.
6. The "business card" is for a biker's club. icon_lol.giftapedshut.gif
7. They want a Harley cake topper for the bride's cake.
8. They want the bride's cake to be on the three tier stand from Wilton.
9. It's to be white icing with some dots on there, and the base of the cake needs RED POINSETTIA GUMPASTE LEAVES ALL AROUND IT.

Ummm...ok? icon_confused.gif

This one gives me a "harry" (pronounced hah-ree like my Daddy used to say--) feeling in my gut. No, to hell with that--it plain just chaps my a$$. I can't put my finger on why these people are rubbing me the wrong way, they just do. And it doesn't help at all that they have absolutely no freaking taste, AT ALL.

So, I'm sorry--but have y'all seen Maude The Cake Fairy lately? She sure wasn't on call yesterday! icon_twisted.gif

WHEW! Thanks for letting me vent. And ANY ADVICE Y'ALL HAVE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Ok, for tonight, I'm doing:

Hamburger & corn pot pie
Salad with ranchalian dressing
Tea w/ lemons & limes

okay, so we can ALL understand the no money thing--but i think this needs to be your out--don't take the job if you have bad vibes, just tell them there's not way you can do this kinda cake for that kinda money, then there's no cake (or tasteless people) to worry about

Ok finally able to come to supper. I had a show at our mall with my candle business. LONGGG WEEKEND. I lived at the mall the last 4 days. So I am not really sure what my family ate. 2 days ago they brought me bologna sandwiches so I think they had that or PB sandwiches. DH doesn't cook so they eat leftover or sandwiches. At the mall over the last few days I had a few pretzels and sweet and sour chicken. Tonight I baked frozen fish and fries. I am exhausted but wanted to see what I missed. Sounds like you guys had some good food. The soup sounds real good.

Knox good luck with bride. My opinion if $200 is a huge amount they should wait to get married. I waited 6 yrs to marry DH. Our cake was a gift from my aunt. I bought the supplies. She baked and decorated it. Our family wanted us to get married. We didn't need gifts so they donated things for the wedding. Food and cake and anything else they could think of. If they can't afford it they shouldn't be getting married yet.

Still exhausted from this weekend. Feelin all the aches and pains form hauling the candles and crafts around icon_cry.gif Next weekend is craft show and I am going to try to take some little cakes to sell with my candles to get my name out there. At least it is only one day.

Tonight I made it easy and the kids were happy. I made my goulash. Which is actually a chili mac. EASY.

I need to get busy on cakes and crafts for this weekend.

Juju I was thinkin beans or tater soup sounds good. It has warmed up here so not needing soup. It is suppose to get cold and rainy in a few days. Probably when I am loading and unloading for my show icon_cry.gif
