Knox FRED is deer.
mxpark what is date night? Lol just kidding. Just wished my DH would think of that.

Last night was a PizzaHut Personal pan pizza in Target. Kids thought it was cool.

Tonight was Fuddrucker's. Yummy burgers.

When I said Fuddrucker's, my 4 yr old ds said, "Mom, watch your mouth." Then he asked if I had really said a bad word. I told him no. He thought it was funny and he knows we don't cuss.

If you all make them let me know how much you like them, or dont icon_lol.gif

__________________________________________________________
KOURAMBIETHES (powdered sugar cookies)

1 lb. Unsalted Butter
3/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
2 Egg Yolks
1 T Baking Powder
1 T Vanilla
5 Cups Flour, more or less

Whip butter in electric mixer until white and fluffy, about 20 minutes. Add powdered sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla. Mix Well. Gradually add flour and beat until dough is very soft but not sticking to your hands. Make balls into walnut size and place on ungreased baking sheet. Slightly flatten each ball.

Bake at 325 Degrees until lightly browned - 20-25 minutes. IMMEDIATELY remove cookies from cookie sheet and place on another baking sheet with wax paper, coated with sifted powdered sugar. Sift more powdered sugar on the tops of cookies, and move around until cookie is totally covered with sugar.Cool, remove from sugar and store.

Tonight's dinner:

Cheapie steaks
Chieapie on-sale shrimp
Baked potatoes
Fresca, Cokes, water or whatever they want

Left over chocolate kahlua cake

Italian breaded chicken, red skinned roasted potatoes with sour cream and melted cheddar cheese, cinnimon bakes apples, spiced baked apples with raisin, homemade mac and cheese, baked beans, green beans, cheese tray with crackers, homemade brocholli and cheese soup, homemade knot rolls, bailey's cheesecake and 2 coconut-choc.-walnut pies. Let me first say today was my mom's birthday so everyone came over for dinner and this is what I and other made to celebrate the day. I do NOT cook like this everyday nor does anyone else in my family, but today was a special day for my mom so we all worked over hot stoves for her. She was very happy too!

Roasted chicken breast
Green beans w/pork pieces

mkolmar: italian breaded chicken... sounds delicious. how do you make it? i'm getting really tired of plain ol' baked naked chicken 'round here. icon_smile.gif

problem is, i'm a baker, not a cook. i go through a rotation of about 6 or 7 really boring simple things: spaghetti, baked chicken, round steak & gravy, red beans & rice, blah blah blah. but i can't get too exotic, i've got two picky girls, 2 & 4. so any time they go ick, i've always got chicken nuggets & mac-n-cheese for them ready to go.

last night's dinner was beef tips in gravy courtesy of hormel ready-to-microwave entrees, rice, and french cut green beans. dessert was some of the extra chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting and jimmies.

tonight's dinner is probably going to be spaghetti again with meatballs out of a frozen bag. i used to make my own really tasty meatballs with spices, parmesan, & onions but one time i ran out & got a bag of frozen ones. now that's all the kids want.

somebody tell me please that kids eventually develop real tastebuds? in the past 4 yrs i've eaten more mac-n-cheese than i think i had in my whole prior life!

Italian breaded chicken : about 1/3 of the mixture will be plain bread crumbs and 2/3 will be the italian bread crumbs stir together and place in a dish with sides or a plate. You'll also need plain flour in a container and some craked eggs with just about 1 tablespoon of milk for every 2 eggs. You'll also need to pound out the chicken breast in between 2 pieces of plastic wrap with a mallot so it's a more even and uniform thickness----use the side of the mallot, not the end with the tenderizer points, it will tear up the chicken breast. Just give them a good wack and take out those frustrations! After you do this get a pan screaming hot on the stove with oil in it!

You are going to lightly dredge the chicken into the flour and shake gently off the exess flour. Then place in the egg mixture till coated and then lift up the chicken and let the exess egg drain off. Then coat lightly by dredging in the bread crumb mixture and place into the screaming hot pan to get the chicken good and brown on both sides!

Then place the chicken in a 350 degree oven and bake till done.

If you have any questions just pm me, once you do it you'll see how easy it really is! I even do this with my pork chops, my picky kids will even eat it!

Gothgate I'm glad my kids aren't that picky. They are 4 and 2. We started right after first baby food giving them the food we eat spices and all. My sister in law didn't do this with her first and now she regrets it. Her youngest two will eat most things but her oldest complains. My two do have things they don't like but it's not bad compared to what it could be.

Tonight is pork chops and fried potatoes. Gotta figure out some beggies to start fixing or sides. Getting bored of the same o same o

The doctor always said, "When they get hungry--they eat!" thumbs_up.gif I respect moms however, that give their kids a choice.

Tonight:

Stuffed pork chops (apple/nut/stuffing mixture)
Garlic herb fried potatoes

well, it's really my 4yo who's picky, 2yo will eat almost anything. it's not entirely her fault. she has had GERD since she was born and was on baby food until 3. as she's gotten older it's turned into the amazing ability to linda blair vomit pretty much at will (fun!).

so that limits her diet to things that are pretty bland and not rich. i'm from new orleans, so i like my food with some flavor. it's just recently that she's been able to stomach a little red sauce on her spaghetti. when we have anything with brown gravy, i have to blot the meat dry.

so this recipe sounds perfect. i know she can eat italian breadcrumbs 'cause they're in meatballs, and everything else is not spicy or too rich. so if she doesn't like it i can feel comfortable pulling the 'this is dinner, eat it or not' routine.

and if i serve it with green beans, at least i know she'll eat those. she loves green beans and carrots so much that as a baby, she turned bright orange. first christmas pictures, cute little baby in a green elf costume with this bright orange nose, kinda like rudolph. icon_lol.gif

but with today's cake decorating plans for tomorrow, i have absolutely no time to cook. so dinner's going to be glazed ham (thank you hormel... those entrees (they're usually in the meat case) are delicious) with au gratin potatoes and green beans.

tomorrow's cake was supposed to be that big impressive turkey, but i couldn't get the pans and everything together. so i'm doing a 2 layer 9x13 white cake with strawberry puree filling & vanilla frosting under fondant with fondant fall leaves & "hand turkeys" taken from the girls' handprints. maw-maw will love that it's her babies' handprints probably more than she'd've liked the turkey anyway. icon_smile.gif

I understand about the GERD. So sorry you couldn't find seomthing to help her more. My dd has it too. She takes Prilosec now at age 2 for it. She know exactly when she needs it. When she was younger we just gave her baby rice in her breast milk. If we did this daily it kept the GERD under control. As she got older the Doc had us ad a Prilosec daily until the foods didn't seem to bother her. Now it's just and ocassional Prilosec, thankfully.

Awwww, GOTHGATE!! icon_sad.gif Poor lil' baby....oh. icon_sad.gif

My 18 year old had gerd/colic 'til he was about 7 months old. Yeah. I remember ALWAYS packing an extra shirt when we'd go out to eat (FOR ME!!) because he was like that.

A lifesaver for me was those disposable bibs from Playtex, too. When I'd see that he was going to heave---I'd just hold it up under his chin and over his mouth. It caught everything, and I could just slip it into a plastic bag in my purse. icon_rolleyes.gif WHEW! I do NOT miss those times...sheesh!

Yeah, so you've really gotta watch everything she eats, huh?! I remember some pink colored drops I used to buy at the drugstore---hmmm....what were they called? MYLICON!!! That's it!!! Those things helped tremendously back then, too.

Tonight is something quick and easy for dinner. Maybe I'll do some broccoli and cheese soup with cornbread muffins. Sounds like a plan! thumbs_up.gif

yeah, she's been on zantac pretty much since she started experimenting with solid foods. when we know she's going to eat something that's likely to irritate her, we slip her a baby pepto too.

i just got finished putting her to bed. she had horrible hiccups and esophagus spasms. i had to rub her back and then up and down the middle of her chest until at last they'd stop. unfortunately it's all my fault. my mom & i both have the same thing. bad roll of the genetic dice.

what's bad for me is that she's learning to use it to her advantage. she's got a 'big gun' to pull during temper tantrums. she'll get that gaspy cry going and i know it's do some quick negotiating or 'thar she blows!' in front of everybody at the store. not fun at all. fortunately she doesn't do it often just because it feels so icky & hurts her tummy after to do it.

true to their types, 2yo ate everything on her plate except the "burnt" parts of the au gratin potatoes. 4yo ate green beans and one maybe 1/4" square piece of ham and one fork-tine-ful of potatoes to satisfy the 'at least taste everything' requirement. then it was leftover cake from leveling with leftover frosting and extra fondant leaves (they love the stuff, go figure). two cute little girls orange from ear to ear and covered in crumbs.

tomorrow, what to eat for dinner isn't my problem! somebody else is cooking for a change. cake's in the fridge so my part is done!

Hey, Y'all.

My menu took a completely different turn than what I'd planned. DH won a HAM a few days ago at a TURKEY shoot. princess.gif Anyway--I cooked most of the morning, and everything turned out good.

It wasn't like Thanksgiving usually is though. It was just the three of us, DH, me and the youngest. The big one just showed up a couple of hours ago to get a plate. I'm grateful for that, though; At least I know he's alive, and that at least for tonight--he's not out there bugging someone else. icon_cool.gif

Cornbread-almond-sausage stuffing
Rum Cake madhatter.gifmadhatter.gif
Pumpkin Pie
