goodness - i feel like i missed so much!!! everyone has posted at least twice! icon_surprised.gif

tonight we had pork chops (i hate pork chops but my dad cooked since i have a TON of homework to do...ugh icon_sad.gif ), steamed rice, and broccoli w/ cheese.

btw - knox, thanks for that recipe!!! i will definitely have to try it when i get some time. thumbs_up.gif

i just made baklava for the first time (dh's request - he was whining because i baked a cake for one of my two orders for this weekend. anyway - he came home and said mmmm something smells good and came over to look at my cake. i pushed him away and told him that it wasn't for him and he said aww...you never bake for me anymore. so i told him that i would bake whatever he wanted icon_rolleyes.gif ). i forgot to brush each individual layer with butter but it still came out yummy. i've never even tried it before but its pretty good. icon_biggrin.gif

hockeygirl - i hope your oven worked! you haven't posted yet (as of my typing of this) so i hope things worked out. i remember when my oven went out.....what a pia. icon_cool.gif

samsgranny - i hope you feel better. i've been so grateful that i haven't gotten sick yet this season. although i'm just waiting for my 5 month old to get sick....he hasn't yet but i'm hoping its not so bad.

ok ladies....its back to the books for me. icon_sad.gif i just finished five assignments for my online history class and now i have to work on my midterm which is like a 9 page (not double spaced) essay that's due on friday. thumbsdown.gificon_cry.gif

Hey knox after I posted last I got to thinkin about a few more tips. First Use just a touch of oil if you have a good electric skillett. Mine is old I haven't found another one this big that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. So I use alittle more oil than i would ususally. Second low and slower. I no I said a low setting but really keep it lower or you will burn it. You can do it in a regular skillett. Just check the bottoms and you will be fine. So just remeber like Emeril says use your knob low and slower cause you want it to raise alittle more. You will do great. And from experience don't get on the phone and do the dishes at the same time and forget to check them. You can have one side really hard. icon_cry.gificon_lol.gificon_cry.gificon_lol.gif Hubby got a kick out of that one. He said did you make some hockey pucks icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif What I am trying to say is experiment. It took me awhile to get it right. Kids distract me alot.

I had another chicken dinner, but this was fried instead of baked, how's that for variety? It didn't look like the picture on the box either, but was better than the baked, but also more unhealthy!

I wish I'd known about the skillet bread, that would have been good. Got to try that it sounds great. Janice

*whew* We all must be busy tonight! I just got done with the last cake for the wedding this weekend. Tonight I did 2 12" rounds, a 10" round and the last 6" round just came out of the oven.

It is fend for yourself around here tonight. DH has eaten a cake top, chips and salsa and I think he had a muffin that was in the fridge from Sunday.

I have had Wheat Thins and some leftover tuna fish salad. I just threw a personal pizza in the oven and am working on a scoop of cottage cheese with some peaches.

Fine dining I tell ya! icon_wink.gif

Shhhheeesh. I'm delivering those babies all the same time at 10:00 am, got a hair appointment at 1:30 pm....THEN IT'S HOME TO BED!!!! madhatter.gif

Tonight, DH took us out for BBQ. Oh. My. GOBS, it was soooo good. (Especially since that's the only thing I had today!) cowboy.gif

Well I took the day off yesterday, got rid of my nasty carpet in bedroom and got hardwood floors. I also painted in there Wednesday night. I baked 2 cakes for this weekend and made & colored my icing because we have a football game tonight and a band competition Saturday. I still managed to cook dinner. We had fried wieners with kraut (yum yum), mashed potatoes, peas, mac & cheese and good old buttermilk fried cornbread. Tonight everyone will be eating at the fooball game.

Chicken in the woods-
My girls go to girl scout camp in the summer. They learned how to make it there and every once in a while we have it at home.
You take a chicken breast, uncooked rice, mushroom soup and vegetables (we use asparsgus, broccoli and carrots) Wrap is all up in foil and cook it over hot charcole.

Just popping in for a quick glimpse at the supper table. My kiddos have been sick....need I say more. It's hardest on my little guy, with his Autism changes aren't easy, especially when they are out of our control.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Supper Menu
Chicken & Potato Soup
Salad
Whole Wheat Buns
Sweet Ice Tea/Water
~~~~~~~~~~~

The weather decided to act like it is Fall, but it's day by day. That's partly why the little ones are sick. In the 90's one day and then the 50's the next! Right now I miss New England, at least when I lived there I could count on the weather being what the season said it was suppose to be. icon_cry.gif

Hey, Y'all! icon_smile.gif

Glad to be back at the dinner table in one piece! Got a nap this afternoon, and boy did I need that. icon_wink.gif

Pics in the gallery. Two cheesecakes and an anniversary cake.

MORNINGGLORIES: Hope the kids get better, sheesh--it's so hard on everyone when they're sick!

JTB94: That "Chicken in the woods" sounds like something I'd make! It is yummy, I'm gonna save that!

BRANSMOM: Dang, girl! You gettin' that work plum DONE, huh? You need to come to my house and start tearin' out the carpet. I'm just off the foothills, here--once you pass the cemetery, you'll go to the bottom of the hill....LOL! I love kraut & wieners, too...So you can just bring some of that with you before you start working. icon_lol.gif

O'HARA: You know, they make these containers now in plastic. You could pack one of those with some of that Italian soup, and send it with BRANSMOM when she comes over to start working on my house! icon_lol.gif

VEEJAY & MXPARK: Y'all are onto the soup run! I'll take one order of that, as well--just send it over with BRANSMOM. SHE WON"T MIND--SHE'LL HAVE HER ARMS FULL ANYWAY!!

Well, looks like I've got a week's worth of great food coming soon, so I won't even have to cook! icon_lol.gif

Tonight:

Blackeyed peas with rib meat, fat back and bacon.
Sliced green onions, green peppers
Cornbread
Tea
Cake scraps

morningglories- sorry to hear about your sick little ones. My youngest has a form of autism and doesn't do change or the unexpected well at all, so I know how hard that is on you. Praying for health in your home.

Went to the pumpkin show ( a huge festival here) today with DD and a friend.
We ate junk all day, rode rides, watched a parade and walked miles! What a great day icon_lol.gif

I love breakfast at dinnertime!

Today I made one of those Bertolli dinners for two, expensive, but I had a $1 off coupon and it was on special, so not so bad price wise, but not too good otherwise. There may have been two green beans sliced up in there, tomatoes so smushed they were hardly recognizable. Not much chicken, but was pretty good, but there was lots of bow-tie pasta.
Overall, decent, but nothing to rave about and I don't plan to buy another one! Still, I guess it was better than peanut butter! Janice

It was my first time there. It was really good. Of course there were no children (atleast not mine) ,I didn't have to cook and no dishes to wash...how could that not be good.

Wow! Long time no posting. Finally got the weekend over with. Dh's whole family was here. So we had 11 people in our home.

Thursday night was Spaghetti and garlic bread

Friday night was Cheddar's. I had ribs and baked potato with broccoli and Cheese casserole.

Saturday night was Taco Bell. I had a Cheesy Gordita Crunch.

So glad I didn't have to cook the whole time they were here. Some of them are really picky. We went to the zoo on Friday and to an Animal Wildlife Drive Thru Safari on Saturday.

Today is some type of soup that my aunt made.

I'm so tired ugh!
