I got roast beef from the grocery store deli and rolls and made french dip sandwiches with au jus and potato salad. Quick and easy, just how I like it! Also one of DH's faves so it scores points too!

It is cold here UUGGHHH!! icon_cry.gif And our heater isn't working. So my family has lots of requests for warm food. So tonight I made chicken over biscuits. Simple (place butter biscuits in bottom of pan in a bowl mix lg can cr. chicken soup, sm can cr. celery, Shredded cooked chicken.) Place on biscuits and bake. You can use can chicken if you want or any left over chicken taken off the bone. My family totally loves this.

But I am also going to make chili tonight for son. He wants chili and DD wants meatloaf. So I made them a deal. I would make the chili later tonight and he could have it as leftovers for a few days. (it is always better the second day) And she could have meatloaf tomorrow and leftovers for a few days. So Dh will have the leftover biscuits he doesn't like chili or meatloaf all that well. And I will have which ever leftover sounds good. Makin it easy for a few days anyway.

So I can get started on some cakes that I need done this month. I will bake them and freeze them. That way I can use my oven for a reason and also warm up my house. I hope our landlord gets someone over here soon to work on heatericon_cry.gif

Tonight was

Homemade "petros"
Tea w/ lemons & limes

Been busy planning for a birthday cake order I've got due on Saturday. It's going to be a 12x18 sheet with two carved cakes on top.
Construction theme for a 5 year old little boy.

The carved cakes will be a little bull-dozer and a dump truck. So, I've got some drawing and measuring of the old pound cakes to do!

The weather dude said it was going to get down to the 50's on Thurs/Friday. That's the excuse I need to start with the thick, creamy soups! I'm thinking cream of broccoli, broccoli & cheese, loaded baked potato, etc.

*drifts off to sleep with visions of soups and crusty breads in the head*

Where have I been??? Did you keep my place at the table?? icon_lol.gif

We went home this past weekend to visit my nanny. She's been down lately and seeing my little noodle (ds) helps cheer her up. We lost my grandpa in July and their 56th wedding anniversary is coming up so we're all trying to help keep her spirits up.

And we're trying to get packed to move this weekend! I hate moving! but we'll save $215 a month!!

Last night:

Thai peanut stir-fry

tonight:
dh had gotten a gift cert to Sonny's bbq so that's what we had!

Ya'll would be proud! I made my very first pot roast the other day! dh didn't used to eat beef so I'd never made one. It turned out really good and now Iknow what to do for the next one to make it even better! thumbs_up.gif

dodibug, I'll sit next to you, this way if the others who have come to the table regularly decide to scold us, they can save their time and energy by scolding in one direction..... icon_lol.gif
By the way, happy to hear about your success in making Pot Roast. thumbs_up.gif

Tonight the family ate from a friends little business.
She sells things you usually find at Fairs here in SA.
Roasted corn, Tortas, Raspas, Fruit cups, Funnel cakes, Tacos...etc.
She called, took everyones order then delivered it before going home.
I did not feel like eating tonight so I had coffee and a cupcake.

veejaytx, Please feel free to join us at the table anytime. You would be surprised at how little we eat sometimes. Then too maybe you won't feel as though you have to eat alone. Right Ladies?

Thanks morningglories, have to admit eating alone is boring, and cooking for one is worse, so if it can't be microwaved, I probably don't eat it.

From your dinner last night, I would have loved the roasted corn and a taco, with a funnel cake for dessert (never had one of those). Thanks, Janice

We had St Louis Style honey BBQ pork ribs. I cooked them in my slow cooker but the smell is horrible. My ds says it smells like someone peed in our food. They tasted yummy though. Wonder if my crock pot is defective and will always smell weird...??? We had baked potatoes and green beans to go along with it. On the positive side DH said they were the best tasting ribs ever.

DH and I celebrated our 3rd anniversery tonight. And we have had a long week as far as work was concerned. We were going to go out to dinner, but we were both too tired. So we agreed to go out this weekend and stayed in tonight at ate leftovers. DH had some Chicken, green beans and a roll. I had leftover noodles, chicken and carrots with soy sauce.

And now (as usual) I got in bed at 9, slept for about an hour or two and am awake again. I even took a sleeping pill! icon_cry.gif I really need a good nights sleep. *sigh*

Has the codine that makes me crazy icon_cry.gificon_lol.gificon_cry.gificon_lol.gif La La Land. Any way they all had the leftover I had planned so I could get cakes done. MXPARK AND VEEJAY: I hereby don Thee both as MOST WELCOMEST NEW NEWBS! (I'm Knoxcop, so I get to bang the gavel. We ain't got us a judge here yet!) judge.gifjudge.gifjudge.gif

JUJU: Have you tried the crock-pot liners? I refuse to crock without 'em!

MORNINGGLORIES: Wish I had a lady like that living close to me! icon_razz.gif

HOCKEYGIRL: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! birthday.gif

KAYCHRSTENSEN: Girl, I hope you got your heating fixed! Dang--I can come over there and scare your landlord, if you want! icon_lol.gif All that and you're sick, too---sheesh. Hope it all gets better!

OHARA: You're back! *cheers madly and does happy dance*

Last night I made a PORK ROAST POT PIE (that's like "P" to the 4th power!) I made it with the leftover pork roast from Tuesday. Used store bought pie crust, filled it with pieces of chopped pork, potatoes (also from roast pot), onions and celery (I sauteed them) and some frozen peas. I topped that with two packets of white gravy mix, and baked it.

The crust came out soooo crispy and flaky. And the filling----mmmmmm!

It was just an idea I had in my head to use up some leftovers. It was amazing. thumbs_up.gif

I'm not sure about tonight, but I'm thinking maybe some spaghetti.

No hadn't thought about the crock pot liners but it still would have smelled. Finally took the removable part out and it smelled like someone peed in it. Yuck so I have to clean the bottom of it and the burner part to keep it from smelling again. Not sure what's for supper yet.

KC: so sorry to hear you and DD are both sick...but without heat and the colder temps how can you not be sick!! I feel guilty for running my AC, while you need heat. The Pumpkin Pudding cake sounds DELISH. Couldn't Pumpkin Pie Spice be added to vanilla pudding for the same flavor expierence? Just wondering. detective.gif

Sams: I'm with you on the BBQ. I'm going to see if DH will do us up a nice one over the weekend. I love it when he does, because he wants to do everything. I get to sit back and chill.

VJ: My best friend is a nurse at NIX in the newborn nursery! The invitation stands, whenever you get a chance to come down.

OHARA!: Your here!, can that mean that Tara will post again soon? ...For the newbies, Tara is the 'Mistress' of this Supper Table, she's the one who invited everyone to share, 'What's For Supper?'.......Beefstew sounds yummy for the cold weather.

Knox: That new recipe of yours sounds like a keeper in my recipe box. I love anything yummy and easy. I don't like cooking so I make it as painless for myself as possible without making it tasteless for the family.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tonight's Menu:
Roasted Chicken
Salad
French Bread
Sweet Ice Tea
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It's still to hot here to make any yummy comfort foods. icon_cry.gif
I love comfort foods and that's about the only time I don't gripe about cooking. Oh well.

Kay I use a vegetable peeler for them. Makes it so much easier than using a knife. And yes my family (not me) eat a lot of fried potatoes. My kids absolutely love them. I generally just fry 4 potatoes and that is enough to feed them.
