My DD begged for goulash which is really a chili mac with velveta cheese added. Then the little turkey feel asleep before I was back from the store. I did wake her later to eat and do homework. I hated it but she missed so much last week. She ate did schoolwork and went back to sleep ok.

mxpark I totally understand thumbs_up.gif

Juju were you at Kearneys Cabela's I feel for you. We took a big van when Dd was 1 to Ok for family reunion. We had 12 people in van. One great G-Ma, 1 G-ma, 1 Great Aunt, 2 1 yr olds, my 8 yr old son, the rest adults in there 20 and 30's. We got lost and MIL and her sister kept telling Sil and I to take crying babies out of car seats to comfort them. Finally I stood my ground and said I will not risk my DD life by taking her out of car seat to comfort her. And the guys finally pulled over to find directions and called other family to met us to lead the way. I hate those kinds of VACATIONS. I guess when I think about it I laugh thinking about Chevy Chase in the Movie. At least we didn't kill a dog or a Aunt even though I felt like it Oh and salisbury steak YUM Baked Potatoes YUMMY

I'm guessing tonight will be some type of hamburger meal, but I'm not sure what just yet. detective.gif

Well last night I made homemade Chicken & Dumplings with Cornbread Muffins. To my surprise, hubby went out with guys to watch football, youngest son went to girlfriend's house and oldest son went to friends. So, it was me and the dogs. That's ok, we like it like that. They love quality time with me. So we will be having Chicken & Dumplings tonight and if they are nice to me, I may make them some fresh cornbread.

Well, y'all....I finished the birthday cake order in less than 4 hours---start to finish!

Picture's in the gallery. It's the hunting cake.

As if that wasn't enough, I vacuumed (sp?), dusted, did 3 loads of laundry and 3 loads of dishes! I don't have my dishwasher installed yet--it's sitting out on the carport under a tarp. GAH! icon_mad.gif

I'm proud of my lil' cake. I'm all into those dang'd FBCT's now. I want to do them all the time! icon_smile.gif

Tonight, I cooked something super easy:

Corned beef hash
White cheddar broccoli noodles
Green beans

Leftover cake

Bransmom: You sound just like me--I love it when my babies and I get to spend time together! And my Old Man better be nice to me, if he wants to eat! icon_twisted.gif lol

Here ya go MxPark:

Easy to do ahead, and freeze! Just take it out the morning when you go to work. Ready to heat up in the evening for about 25 minutes, while you change clothes and yell at the kids! LOL

Broccoli and Cheese Soup ala' Knox:

1/2 cup butter
1 onion, chopped
1 (16 ounce) package frozen chopped broccoli
4 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
1 (1 pound) loaf processed cheese food, cubed
2 cups milk
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2/3 cup cornstarch
1 cup water

DIRECTIONS
In a stockpot, melt butter over medium heat. Cook onion in butter until softened. Stir in broccoli, and cover with chicken broth. Simmer until broccoli is tender, 10 to 15 minutes.
Reduce heat, and stir in cheese cubes until melted. Mix in milk and garlic powder.
In a small bowl, stir cornstarch into water until dissolved. Stir into soup; cook, stirring frequently, until thick.

Hope y'all like it!

Tonight left over goulash. Since I made a huge batch.

Knox That sounds good except I am not a broccoli fan. But I bet I could substitute some country style hashbrowns. And make a cheesy potato soup. I will have to try that. Way to go on that cake less than four hours. icon_eek.gif That cake was to cute. I need to make a 1st B-Day cake and they want to use the invitation somehow on the cake. Do you mind if I pm you with a few FBCT ??? Because yours are great and you said they are so easy. Any tips would be great thumbs_up.gif

We had hamburgers and potato salad. DH is still working on that leftover cake. (I made a test 8" for the wedding cake I am doing this weekend)

Speaking of this weekend.....I decided I should clean the oven before I baked a bunch more cakes. It is self cleaning. So I flipped the lever and pushed the button and let it go. Good thing I stayed up though. Cause the darn thing CAUGHT FIRE! icon_eek.gificon_surprised.gificon_confused.gif

The house stinks so bad right now. I turned it off as soon as I heard the "whoomp" of flames igniting. I yelled for DH and he told me not to open the door cause the oxygen would make it worse. Not that I could have anyway. The oven won't let me unlock the safety catch until it drops below a certain temp. So I don't know how bad the inside of my oven is yet. I just hope it still works. I start baking tomorrow for this weekend.

For dinner we had:

4 Cheese Rice A Roni
Peaches & Cottage Cheese
and the BEST stinkin Turkey I have had in a long time. So good I am going to tell you what I did to it so yall can do it too! icon_biggrin.gif

Take a FROZEN turkey breast (mine was about 5 lbs)
Drop it in the crock pot
Dump a package of Onion Soup Mix on top
Give it a healthy dash of Garlic Powder
Cook on high for 6 hours

So good! DH, who is easy to please when it comes to food says, "Please tell me you didn't make this recipe up and that you can make it again." (I am famous for 'inventing' new dinners with what I have on hand and can never make it the same twice. icon_rolleyes.gif ) "Because I think this could be the best turkey I have ever eaten. Are there leftovers?"

Now I am off to start the cakes and see if the oven still works after the little fire we had last night. icon_lol.gif Ooopsie!

I put a couple of chickens in my stock pot to cook them off. So with the broth and some of the chicken I made chicken & noodles. With mashed potatoes and fried bread. Now I will pull the rest of the chicken off the bones and put in zippy bags to put in the freezer. And when I need it for casseroles I have it done.

Now I gotta work on some cakes. My SIL called today and said Hey can you also make a cake for girl scout Halloween party. She sounded pretty desperate so I said YES. UUGG what did I get myself in for. I also have to do her DD birthday cake and cupcakes. Then next week I have great nephews 1st B-Day cake and DD Haunted Castle. It should be any easy cake for her. She basically wants the cake baked and frosted and decorate with gummy worms and other candies.

Samsgranny I hope you feel better soon icon_smile.gif My husband always gets the flu when he gets the shot.

Sounds like you're gonna be SUPER busy with some cakes, too.

Can you PLEASE tell me how you make "fried bread?"

HOCKEY: Surprisin' what a pack of onion soup'll do for some food, huh?! thumbs_up.gif I sure do hope your stove's workin' good for ya! icon_smile.gif

O'HARA: Loves me some hot wings, baby! Dang... icon_cry.gif

Knox it is to easy. My grandma calls them dough gobbbies. Simple thaw bread dough let it rise alittle. I use my electric skillet with alittle oil in bottom. Pull off chunks of bread dough flatten out alittle. Put in skillet I usually have it on a low setting warm or slightly above. It will fry alittle but it will raise up. Flip over and it will fry alittle on that side and raise somemore. It is basically making bread without the oven and in less time. Around 15 - 30 Min. depending how big you make them. Just don't have your skillett to high so it doesn't burn just makes it a little crisp. I usually pull one apart plop on some mashed potatoes add a dab of butter and top with the chicken and noodles. I usually make 3 loafs ( I have a BIG skillett) They love them as leftover. My son pulls it apart puts Peanutbutter and Jelly on it. My DH sometimes pulls it apart and make a sandwich with lunch meat. I like to nuk it alittle and spread butter on it. DD just grabs one on the go for snack after school. They are so yummy. Alittle more chewy than baked bread.

icon_surprised.gifKAY!!! icon_surprised.gif

My Granny Jones used to make "fry bread." (She was part Choctaw, part Cherokee.) In the mornings, she'd make her biscuits, and in the dough, she'd press the "prayer wheel."

I'm not sure why, but your "fried bread" seems very close to being an old (very) Indian (native American) recipe.

Do you use the kind of frozen bread dough like you get at the grocery? In loaves? The kind you just thaw, let rise and bake?

I'm sooo ready to try this---the Old Man (DH) would go apesh!+ over it.

Thanks,
--Knox--

Knox Yep it is just the stuff you buy at the grocery store. I don't totally flatten it. Just little globs about biscuit size flattened slightly. My grandma wasn't indian. But I have had the indian fried bread also. This tastes alittle different. And isn't flat. But they are so yummy. icon_biggrin.gif My grandma was a cook and she loved to experiment. So I don't know if this was a creation of hers or where she got the idea. Our whole family makes them though. Probably cause it is quick and easy and YUMMY. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
