I left my husband 2 years ago... I'm not just poor, I'm bankrupt.
If memory serves though, I seem to recall that a human gym was more fun than a mechnical one. Might as well have fun burning off those calories. lol

See ya'll later. Sweet Dreams Brandi!!! Hey - maybe a Wet one
(I'm sorry - out of line) Just kidding!!!
oh girls, i'm sorry about the hubbies out of town a lot... it's been 6 months for me and i'm looking at my dh as we speak.
he doesn't travel, but he's never home. has a full time job and two bands. besides the fact that i go to bed hours before him and am dead asleep by the time he gets there (if he even does, he sometimes falls asleep on the couch).
sigh....
Yes, it sucks to have DH gone so much. He is gone again. Left at 11:00 today and won't be back till LATE Tuesday night. It stinks but we are fortunate that our hubby's are such hard workers and good providers. DH loves his job to, loves what he does, the people he works for and with and possibilities for advancement with in the company. I am happy that he is happy and grateful for him and his job. Although..... there are days when I am stuck in this house with the kids for the umteenth day in a row and I'm about ready to snap. I so need a break sometimes and I never get one. My parents live too far away, DH's parents are way too far away and I am too cheap to hire a baby sitter. It's good to find some way to relieve that stress right?! HA! A steamy roll in the hay is a great way to do that, that is when he finally gets home. Otherwise popping an excersize DVD in and working up a good sweat is helpfull to. Good for your weight loss efforts to. Any other "abandoned" Mom's out there with suggestions for relieving the stress of Motherhood while DH is gone? Does anyone else feel like a single parent sometimes? So gratefull for this thread and all the wonderful ladies and gents on here that are so easy to chat with!! ![]()
Anna
I'm with you Anna! We are very fortunate that they love what they do. I don't have any children but I still get "cabin fever". I have my boy, Toby, he's a Welsh Corgi and does not even know he's a dog! I also have 10 acres to keep up but even sometimes that's not enough. Since I quit work in Nov. it gets bad every now and then. I wouldn't call it loneliness but more of a kinda boredom.
I imagine you need time for yourself occasionally. No family to help watch your children for a couple of hours so you can go do something for yourself? Maybe their friends' Moms?
Nope. I have no family anywhere near here. Two hours is the closest any of my relatives live that would be physically able to watch the kids. As for their friends' Mom's I just am not good at asking people to do that. Almost feels selfish on my part to ask someone that has kids themselves to take on my two along with their own. I'm bored and guess loneliness would describe it pretty well. Which is strange in a way since I am never alone. I always a child close by. I need to make more friends! That is easier said than done. How about you? Do you have any friends that you could spend time with to help alleviate some of your boredom? I think boredom is a big problem when trying to lose weight. Don't know about you but I eat when I'm bored! I'm doing pretty well today though. I'm on WW and am staying with in my points so far. I worked out again today to, just me and the DVD player though! HA! Are you doing Weight Watchers to?
Anna
Every now and then a dear friend of mine from the hospital and I get together and go out to eat when Joel's gone. Another close friend of mine lives about an hour away and we talk on the phone and see one another maybe once every 2-3 months. Other than that - nope. My biggest "outing" is going to Pensacola which is about 45 minutes away to a cake shop I like. The other personal thing I do is go to Zaxby's and get a salad (to bring home) when I've lost a couple of pounds - might do that in a few minutes. Since Thursday, I've lost 3 pounds.
Boredom is definitely the devil as far as eating!!! I agree! Snacks here are pork skins, yogurt and beef jerky. Oh and apples.
I'm not on WW but am kinda interested in that if you can do it by yourself. I'm not one for groups. Too self-conscious right now.
I'm at 131 today and really need to be 5 pounds lower by Saturday. I'll do it. 3 so far so I'm hoping I don't fall off the wagon
by then. My goal is 120. Two years ago I was ranging between 116 and 120 and felt good. I was 154 the Dec of '03 and lost 35 pounds just by watching what I ate and before cake decorating!! Strange thing - my clothes still fit but obviously a bit tighter but wearable. When I was 120 people thought I was 100! Not much body fat but muscle.
Sounds like you are doing fine on your own with out WW but you can do it without groups. I do it myself. I got tired of paying them to weigh me when I can do that myself at home. I had to take my 3 year old DD with me to the meetings to which made it hard to catch everything going on. She isn't the sit still and be quiet type. Grrrr. Sounds like you have a cute little figure!! I'm 5' 6" and am supposed to be about 145. I'm back up to 176 at the moment. I was down to 170. SOB. I'm trying like MAD to get the weight off again. I am motivated again and feeling good about it. I'm giving myself till Christmas to lose the thirty pounds. DH's Christmas party for work is always fun to get dressed up and look HOT for! HA! I should be able to do this but am really struggling to see any results from my efforts yet! I'm still determined though! Congrats on the three lb. weight loss!! That's great!!! You are doing so well!!! Keep up the good work!
You can do it!!!!! And 6 pounds gained really isn't that bad. I know how it hurts but it's really not real bad.
Wish I was 5'6" and could weigh more and look good!! Drink lots and lots of COLD water all day. I had to make myself do that..... Now it's a habit. Never could figure out how/why people ordered water at restaurants.
Well, Anne it's been very helpful talking with you but I'm off to Zaxby's!! (I got the craving now....)
Then I'll walk the dog - whoops - Toby.
Have a good week!!!! ![]()
Hello everyone.
Tina great on your own route. You have wanted this for so long!
You all crack me up!
Great job everyone, get out there and work out. I tried this morning and thought that the treadmill would be fine to do with my wrist since there are no weights involved, but just the movement of my arm was too much, not to mention whenI get hot I swell, so as I got warm I noticed a tightness. So stopped, will try again later this week. I get the stiches out next Wed. So I will just watch what I eat this week.
Thanks Michelle~ Girl you better just relax & be calm till you heal 100%. If you swell you might pop some stitches
Just focus on eating right & drinking water. Don't worry about the workouts now. Your doing great!! ![]()
Yep the popping of stitches was the first thing I thought of!
I am going to just concentrate on eating better this week.
since i'm new, can i ask everyone's name?
michelle (i hope) what did you have surgery for? it sounds like carpal tunnel?
Jessica
I had a cist on the tendons by my thumb. It is a much easier surgery than carpel tunnel! It hurt to do anything with my thumb (which is just about everything LOL)
Yep the name is Michelle.
So glad you are with us Jessica!
oh wow, that does sound like it hurts! i'm glad you will be feeling better soon!
Hey ladies!!! I am officially announcing my new commitment to myself!! I am going to do my 3 mile workout every day for the next seven days, making it a straight ten. Also I am going to stick with my Weight Watchers and stay with in my daily 22 points allowed. I am GOING to lose the weight I gained by Monday the 11th. So here I go!!!!! Wish me luck!!!
Anna
Sounds like a plan!!! ![]()
"... commitment to myself". I like that the best! Get like a dog with a bone. And if you go up 1 or 2, keep going!
Thanks! I got a new exersize DVD by Leslie Sansone. There are two DVD's in it, one is a two mile work out the other is a three. She challenges you to do it for seven days and promises that you will lose weight. I figure doing that with my WW should be a good combo! So I"m giving it a try.
I love this DVD!! I highly recommend it to anyone. It's not real high impact but you work up a good sweat and it's only 45 minutes to do the three mile. Got it at Wal-mart. I need to be down to 172 by the 11th. That's four lbs. in one week. Keeping fingers crossed! Wish me luck! ![]()
![]()
How are you doing with your weight loss goals? Did you go get that salad last night?
Anna
go anna! i know you can do it! you rock for trying so hard!!
i think i've been walking to leslie sansone. she has a walking program on my on demand. i think it ends soon, though ![]()
i messed up big time this weekend and have only 2 flexpoints to use between today and tomorrow.
yikes!
i get 20 points a day and have only 1 left for the day. i really hope i can make it. i get really hungry at night.
Have one of my WW root beer floats!!! They are zero points!!! Get a glass, a diet root beer and a few smallish spoons full of cool whip free!! So yummy!!!! It's suprisingly filling to. I get really hungry at night to.
Mind if I ask you what some of your favorite things to eat are? I love hot dogs so eat allot of Jennio Turkey dogs which are only one point!! Then I have a regular bun which is two points so is only three points. So yummy!
Leslie says that doing the three mile work out burns enough calories for a whole meal! Cool!!!
Didn't get the salad. Had some beef jerky and almond slivers
instead. Was getting one today but it rained pretty much all afternoon. Tomorrow is a possible!
I get hunger pains about 9:30 at night. I try not to eat after 4:00pm. If I do it's an apple or a cup of coffee.
Anna you sound like your very determined about those 4 pounds!! I really think you'll do it! And when you achieve that goal, do it again! I'm going for 4 by this Saturday. I've succeeded with 3 since last Thursday (didn't weigh this morning because of the almonds....) ![]()
how many calories does sex burn? does it count as exercise? ![]()
![]()
anna, that rootberr float sounds yummy! i just might have to make a trip to the store!!
i will pretty much eat anything, but i don't tend to keep a lot of veggies in the house because they always seem to go bad before i can eat them.
Well of course sex is exercize! I don't know how many calories it burns though, I don't think that's in the Weight Watchers books!! ![]()
That would greatly depend on allot of things! My advice would be that if you are going that route to lose a few pounds, take control, let yourself go and hang on!!!! ![]()
The root beer float IS good. As for the veggies, I get frozen ones. Also I always have baby carrots on hand. One good way to get your veggies is to put a bag of frozen green beans, sliced carrots, a small potato (skin on) and some onion in a pan with some chix broth, two tsp. olive oil and some Mrs. Dash (original). It's super yummy!!! You can also put a 1/4 cup of fat free shredded cheddar cheese on it. That is a total of 5 points if you ate the whole pan full. It's VERY filling. Just thought I'd share. Sometimes new ideas really helps. I get stuck in a rut sometimes and need to shake it up a bit to avoid boredom!
DH gets home tomorrow night. Today is our Anniversary! Thirteen years. He called me right at 5:30 today since it was right at that moment in time that we were up at the front of the church saying our do's! He is so sweet. He will be rewarded! I'm gonna be waiting up for him to get home!!
Always ready to burn some calories! HA!
Here's a tip from me...
I know for a fact that protien keeps you feel full & also helps you lose weight. Everyone should have about 100 grams or more of protien in one day. Also when working out especially lifting weights you need to get in more protien. I have one protien shake a day even if I'm not working out. Also because I had weight loss surgery & don't get the protien through food. Believe me if you eat a T of Peanut Butter you can go a lot longer between meals. Also drink LOTS & LOTS of water. Water will fill you up. OH... write down everything you eat & every bit of water you drink! That helps me keep track of myself. It really helps!
When you committ to YOURSELF that's facing your weight problem & guess what???.... you just passed the 1st step of losing weight & becoming healthy!!!! ![]()
Now get the job done!!!!!!! ![]()
![]()
I did not start back to the gym today. My DD wanted a "mom-daughter" day today before she had mouth surgery. She had to have that muscle that's between her 2 front teeth cut out.
It's caused her teeth to have a space between them again since her braces were removed. Anyway... It wasn't a major surgery, she did fine but she was scared. So we went to see Shrek3
Just me & my 17 yo DD! Loved it!! We had a great day~ Tomorrow I am getting up at 7:30 am... I'm walking through my neighborhood which is 3 miles & doing it every morning. My DH is AirForce & left today for a tdy for 13 days. I think I can lose 5 lbs between today & then... Missy you game?
Ok I weigh 156 as of today. I'm gonna be good & check in. I promise!
Have a great week girls~ ![]()
Hi all
GEEEZZZ I cant wait until I can work out again.
I have to make this short today, I think I used my hand too much yesterday and it hurst a little today.
You guys are so insirational!
Anna, on the DVD what exactly does it show? I assume you do this while on the treadmill? I may want to look this one up. I think I will rejoin WW too.
That rootbeer float sounds sooooo good will have to try it
Michelle

No, it's walking in place. She says it's better than regular walking because there is upper body movements to. It's not just walking in place though, there are other moves that go along with it. It's fun!
I bet you could do this with your bum thumb. You wouldn't have that treadmill handle bar to have to hang on to. It involves raising your arms up in the air but I don't think that would rip any stitches. However, you do need to let yourself heal!!! Take care of yourself!
Anna
Okay - here I am and I NEED HELP!
Need to lose 15-20lbs, not a lot I know, but if I don't start trying to lose it now it will only get worse.
Problem is I HAVE to lose at least 5 of it before June 30th, 8 would be better.
I have a Spin bike I just cleaned up and it is ready to use and my friend who is a Spinning Instructor just gave a CD routine. So I am going to try to ride everyday - even if it is just for half the "class", which is 45 min.
I have bought tons of fruit to keep my busy as I work at home, get bored and SNACK!
Has anyone tried Relacore in conjuction with excercise and did it really "get rid of belly fat"?
Pleaes feel free to PM me at any time and tell me to get off my butt if you don't hear from me. I get/currently have REALLLY bad PMS - working with dr on this, but the meds she gave me made me gain weight and did not really help so I stopped. Still looking for an alternative solution.
The good part is I know when it is happening and I know it is irrational, so I can at least try to stay away from people or warn them of my mood.
Motivation is at 0 right now, so hopefully this weill help me get going. If any of you see me in any other threads feel free to tell me to get off the computer and go work out or clean my house, do my laundry, etc... LOL!! I'm in a real funk right now and trying to climb out of the hole.
Thanks for listening ladies!!
Laura
Welcome Laura! Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time getting motivated! I get in those ruts sometimes to. In fact I am just getting out of one that lasted about four months!! Now I am trying to dig myself out and lose the weight I gained over that time. Never tried relacore, have no idea what that is. But I firmly believe that there is no "magic pill". The only way to get rid of belly fat is to work your a$$ off! Or make an appt. with a good surgeon!
You have to make a commitment to yourself that you are WORTHY of the time and effort it takes to have a clean house, an organized life and a healthy body. Keep a journal and write down all your thoughts, hopes and dreams you have for you life. Then make a list of the things you need to do in order to accomplish those things that you want for yourself. Make an entry every day and look back on that first entry if you need to motivate yourself. Make a list of your short term and long term goals and write beside them the dates by which you want to achieve them. That will give you a set amount of time to do it and force you to get busy! I'm a list maker, always have been. It helps me to write things down, hope it helps for you! As for the PMS. I am a real BITCH that time of the month. I'm short with DH and the kids. Sometimes I know I'm acting that way but most of the time I don't care. I find that I HAVE to have some solitude, time to myself. A moment of piece where NO ONE is demanding something from me. Take a walk, read a book, write in your journal, make a cake, do what ever it is you like to do but get yourself some time away from the little "irritants"! Also, my last bit of advice. Pray for patience, guidence and wisdom to help you along your way! God is great and we are NEVER alone! Pray well and pray often! ![]()
Anna
Well said Anna!!! ![]()
Laura,
Ruts are common I think when your trying to lose weight, as with anything else.
As Anna mentioned, I also think setting a goal date with weight loss is a positive thing to do. She and I have personally, as well as the other members here, set dates and pounds to shed by those dates.
I lost 3 pounds in 3 days but now nothing for the last 2?.... I won't give up though before this Saturday. When I went to put on my jeans this morning, they weren't skin-tight!! Not loosey-goosey but not tight!! So this has motivated me to lose more - even if it's only 2 more pounds by Saturday.
I have a chart where I write down all the calories, protein, carbs and fat grams eaten in a day. Then once a week I measure my chest, waist, hips, right arm and right thigh. When you start to see losses in these areas, it's an immediate motivator.
And you might not lose pounds but inches. Which is what happens to me in the beginning. Then it's like the pounds catch up to the inch loss.
This thread is a life-saver. Thanks TC!!!!!!!
