Just reporting how my day went with me points and so on. I've had another great day!!
I stuck with in my points and did the three mile work out again! Day two for the three mile but day five for working out in a row. I did two miles the first three days. As of this morning though I did not see any change in the scale. Maybe I should measure rather than weigh?? Never thought of that! I have to say I am a bit dissapointed with my results or the lack there of. Not sure why this is happening and have no idea where I might be going wrong and what if anything I should do about it. So for now I am just going to stick to my guns and keep at it. Hopefully by the time the seven day challenge that I mentioned earlier is up I will see a different number on that scale! If not I'm gonna fling it out the window!!!! ![]()
Just kidding. Sort of.
Mjs4492, sounds like you are doing great! You have lost allot in a short amount of time. I think two to three lbs. a week is what WW suggests. Man, I am beginning to feel like the WW spokesperson! I can't help it though! Anyway, you're doing awesome girl!! ![]()
Ok.... I'm good at motivating others but I'm in a RUT too!!
I have layed around all day & watched soaps! Ahhhh!!!! I haven't watched soaps in a whole school year. I need to get out of this rut too. I know what to do but I just can't do it. I know my biggest problem... I've been staying up too late every night since school has been out. I've stayed up till 1pm every night for about a week!
IMing with friends, lurking on CC & myspace!! During the school year I go to bed about 9pm. So I've got my days & nights mixed up & I've gotten a bit on the lazy side! That's a hard rut to get out of!!
I was ready to start that challenge w/ Missy on Monday but oh boy have I failed miserably! Missy... you must be winning so far!!
Ok well.... tomorrow's another day HUH?
Missy kick my butt!!!!!!!!!!
Laura, welcome! One of my friends does Spin & she got so in shape with it! I can't do it because of my bad knee but let me tell you if I could I would! Talk about a work out!!
You get on that spin bike & kick some a$$!! Sounds like you are motivated enough!!
We'll help if we can~ Come here to re-group or get an attitude adjustment. (hmmm I need one of both!!) ![]()

Ya'll have a great evening~

Yeah Anna!! So glad you doing soooo good!!!
Don't weigh every day. Only weigh the same time on the same day once a week. You will get addicted to weighing & it might depress you. Trust me I know!
Measuring is a great idea! I would only measure once every 2 wks. I only measured once a month & always write it down. When you see the differenc the next month it will blow you away! Come to think of it that was my biggest motivation!!!
It's nice to see the scale drop #'s but it's a whole lot nicer seeing the
dress size fall & fall & fall!!!!! Keep up the excellent work!!!
omg! i just posted a big ol' long post, all rambling and such and i lost it!!! ![]()
okay, i'll try again.
anna, i agree with tc, don't weigh yourself everyday or you will go bonkers. and especially don't weigh at night. for some reason, i find that i weigh more at night... gravity pushing down on me all day??? i dunno...
second, way to go on keeping to your routine! don't be discouraged. keep at it and you will see some change!
tc, i am sorry to hear you are in a rut. i find that it's harder to diet in the summer because of all the ice cream and parties with cake and goodies and stuff. And it's hot out and exercising in the heat is rough. so i feel your pain. i have been trying to stick to my points this week and it's been so hard. my week starts on wednesday, so i have tonight to get through. i have 4 flex points left!
i couldn't do my walking video today because our power went out. and even if it didn't my boys hate it when i try to exercise (they do it with me at first, but then they get bored and want to watch something else), and one of my boys didn't nap today.
wow, i am rambling again! lol anyhoo, i think i am going to go get some of that ice cream i was talking about!
good luck to everyone this week. i will post tomorrow with my weigh-in. keep up the good work! we can do it!!!
Thanks TC and Jessica. I know I shouldn't weigh every day but I am a very impatient woman!
I like instant gratification and am terrible at waiting!! You're right though, it is depressing. I weigh in the mornings right after I get up and nekkid.
I promise I will TRY not to weigh tomorrow! Can't make any promises though! HA!
DH is home now!!! WHOOHOOO!!! Will be so nice to have him home for the next few days. ![]()
Anna, every day you could weigh different. That's why you only weigh once a week. I have figured out that I weigh 3 lbs more at night.. eventhough I know that I still get depressed if by chance I step on those darn scales. They can really do damage to our sanity! ![]()
Jess it's so hard to exercise with kiddo's around. Good for you when you can get a work out done!
Just try!
Thanks ladies!! I'm gonna start all over tomorrow. New day?! I'm going to bed now so I don't have any excuses! I can find them really easy! LOL~ Good night~
Good morning everyone!
Anna, I will keep that DVD in mind. I tend to swell when I am hot, so when I tried to get on the treadmill on Monday I started to feel pressure and pain in my wrist. I decided to wait untill the stiches are out. That way I wont hurt it in any way. I have noticed an improvement! I was in the shower and I was looking at the bruising, I had to turn my wrist to see it, and all of a sudden I realized that it didn't hurt to do this!!!!!!!!!!!!! ON THE MEND! I agree with everyone, dont weigh every day, you will go insane! once a week is the best.
Laura, welcome, I dont know if Relacore works, but agree that there is no magic pill. It takes alot of hard work to make a lifestyle change, not just diet!
mjs, I love your term loosey-goosey, I cant wait until my jeans are loosey-goosey. Keep on your loosing streak!
Tina- GET UP AND MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!! You have gone thru too much and lost too much to end up on the couch!!! COME ON GIRL
I am lucky that my PMS is very mild. Every so often I get crabby, and a bit more often I get teary where I cry at anything. But nothing that makes me crazy. I have no words of wisdom for you all, sorry!!!!!!!
OK I am going to get to work now.
Bye
okay ladies, i weighed today and i was 119! i am so phyched!!
can't stay long becuase of of my boys took a nasty spill earlier and has a very bad cut/bruise/bump in between his eyes. he needs some special mommy time today.
just wanted to share!
be back later.
jes
Way to go Jes!!! You are doing awesome!!
Hope your son isn't hurting too much!! How awful! Good thing kids are so tough!!!
Well if I make it on to the bike today it will be a miracle and I have a new CD I want to ride to ![]()
We had to get the boys' passports this A.M. before school so we can go away this summer, then I was at the school for field day ALL day, just got home now and the kids are here, I have about 12 strange men doing work on the house outside (house is sinking - long story - but being fixed) and DS#1 has hockey tonight - WHEW!
Still gonna try to get on though - will post if I manage! Did good with bfast and lunch - only fruit, but blew it after field day with the ladies and the worst possible deeelicious coffee from Starbucks.
Will try to do better for the rest of the day.
Thanks everyone - Jes I am sooo jealous!! That's amazing!
Laura,
Are you saying you ate only fruit for breakfast AND lunch?
Aren't you starving?? You could have a bowl of oatmeal for the same calories as a banana and an apple! You need protein and healthy carbs. I hate to sound like a Weight Watchers spokesperson but it's so healthy and simple! You can eat what ever you want, it's all about portion control. I'll leave you alone now! ![]()

Well, I'm back from Atlanta and moved into the new house! And now the true insanity begins. For those that don't know, my hubby and his brother opened an equestrian facility (horse boarding, training, and lessons) in the suburbs of St. Louis. Neither one of them are quitting their "real" jobs, so it's a side business but my father-in-law, who was retired, is on-site full-time doing the day to day stuff. Here's the insane part - we sold our house (the house of my dreams!) and built a house on-site because with horses, it's important for someone to really be on-site 24/7 and we're that lucky someone! We moved in last week. The first few days, I was over at the old house cleaning like a mad woman so it was in pristine condition for the closing. Then, we've been cleaning up the office /recreation area. The way our new house is set up, the walk out basement area is an office / recreation area for the stables. We have a pool table, air hockey, fusz ball, etc . . . as well as a TV and couch set up that was all in our basement at the old house. So when parents / siblings are waiting for their kids to have their lesson, they can hang out and relax. We also have a side room with all of our exercise equipment (a weight tower, stationary bike, elliptical, and a total gym) so if people want to get a work out in, they can. We've got two full bathrooms down there so people can clean up after riding and a kitchenette. It's a really great set-up. But, because that's the area that our clients see, we had to focus on getting that set up first. As a result, very little has been organized in the house itself and we're living with boxes and chaos. With two little ones who can't seem to stay indoors for too long knowing the horsies are right outside, I get very little done.
And, my workouts have gone to hell as a result. The good news? I'm down four pounds since my trip. I totally expected to gain while I was out of town (I was in Atlanta visiting family) but I didn't! Now to keep that momentum going. In addition to having all of the work out stuff downstairs, I also belong to a gym that has a kids area and the kids love to play while I'm working out so there's really no excuse for me not to get my exercising in. I need to kick my butt into gear and start putting myself first because the last six months or so with all of the construction of the business, our house being on the market and a new house being built, a hubby that traveled a ton - well, I've ended up dead last on the priority list and it sucks.
I did go get a pedicure yesterday. The stress has been building and my sister had the kiddos in the morning while I had a doctor appt. so I just went from my doctor to a nail salon and got my toes done. It felt so good to sit, relax, and not feel like I should be doing a million things at once.
Anyway, I'm back, moved in, and have no excuses not to reprioritize my life to include "me".
Welcome to all the people who have joined since my last post - and TC, I'm so glad you didn't go away. This place would not be the same without you!
Karate, I'm glad to hear that the surgery went well and that you're on the mend. Hand surgery has got to be the worst. I bet you're realizing how very little you get done without full use of your hand!
I can't remember who asked the question a few pages back (sorry!) about alternatives to chewing gum while baking but a very strong mint works well. One of those little peppermints or a strong certs or something leaves a taste in your mouth that does not mix well with buttercream or cake scraps. Not that I've learned that lesson as I always indulge while baking (maybe that's why I'm down four pounds - I've only made one cake since the beginning of April!)
Have an awesome rest of the week, everyone!
I got this in an email and it was too funny not to post:
HEALTH QUESTION & ANSWER SESSION
Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this
true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't
waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up
your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can
extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer?
Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and
corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an
efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain?
Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy
vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily
allowance of vegetable products.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine,
that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even
more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms
up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one.
If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular
exercise program?
A: Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good
!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ... Foods are fried these days in vegetable
oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables
be bad for you?
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the
middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You
should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best
feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.
Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is a shape!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had
about food and diets.
And remember:
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other -
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a
Ride"
i lied, sorry. i am 121, not 119.
i didn't realize i was holding onto my dresser while i was on the scale!
DUH!
i am still thrilled with the 17 pound loss. my goal is 115, so only a few more to go!
i took my baby to the dr. and he said he didn't want to put a stich in to close up the wound because it would just make it worse. he said he will definitely have a bump, bruise, and a headache. and he will possibly have 2 black eyes.
ckkerber, it sounds like you have been busy! congrats and good luck on the new venture and congrats on the loss! way to go girl!!!
and that email is hilarious! it reminds me of my philosophy: if you close your eyes, there are no calories, because you can't see them! ![]()
gotta run, alex is up!
Carol, you are so right on not getting anything done with only one goog hand. I cant even type right! My DBF is supposed to be doing the dishes while I am one handed.......they are still in the sink 5 days later SIGH.
Loved the Q & A. Had to copy and pass on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad that you are back, I was about to pm you and make sure everything us OK.
Jes - so sorry about the little one and I'd still be thrilled at 121!
Anna - don't worry I will have more for dinner tonight, the only reason for the fruit today was because it was the easiest thing I had to throw in the cooler to bring with me as I knew I would be eating at the field today and I couldn't find any sandwich stuff to bring. Oh well. I've got chicken to cook tonight.
ckkerber - too funny!
thanks laura. it breaks my heart when they are sick or get hurt.
i'm having chicken for dinner too! got any good recipes to share? i am always looking for news ways to cook chicken!
Jess - for something quick I like salt and pepper, brown both sides in a pan with a tiny bit of olive oil (just enough to coat the pan) then throw in a jar of salsa, throw on the lid and let it cook for a bit. Serve over rice and yum!!
Anything I can do to get salsa to my mouth without chips is good for me - LOVE the stuff!!

ha ha... i wish i could, but i am allergic to onions, so salsa is out for me... ![]()
my mom made peach chicken for us to heat up tonight. yum!!! i made pasta roni and unfortunately, it was 9 points!
oops! ![]()
You can make your own salsa really easy and just omit the onions -
You can cheat with a can of diced tomatoes, throw in one fresh one, a bunch of chopped cilantro, salt, pepper, lime juice and jalepeno - even diced roasted red and green peppers - I bet you would not miss the onion at all.
Peach chicken sounds great!
I also like the chicken on the grill and heat up whatever kind of jam you have, raspberry, peach, orange marmalade, etc.. then brush it on in the last few min of cooking, you don't need a lot for the flavor!
Hey guys! I've been on here a long time ago and now have been lurking for awhile.
So you mind if I join in too?
Anna, sounds like you and I have alot in common! My husband is away all week, only home on weekends and I'm a stay at home mom with 3 kids and it is HARD to try and lose weight!!!! I'm trying tho, I started the Sugar Busters diet last monday and have lost 6 lbs. I try to work out every morning before the kids wake up but when they keep me up alot of the nights it gets sooooo hard!!!!
Hey Flava!!
Welcome to the group!!!!!
What is the "sugar busters" diet? Sounds interesting!!! You lost SIX pounds since Monday????? How is that physically possible??!!! I gotta say I'm intrigued!
Anna
You go Jes!!! ![]()
Haven't lost any more since Sunday now (still at 131 this morning). 120 is my goal weight but I'd take 125 right now!
Doesn't look like I'm going to hit my goal this Saturday either - 129. (134 last Thursday; looking to lose 5 more by Sat) Can't figure it out. But it's only 2-3 more pounds and it's only Weds! My sincere thanks to you all for setting goals and helping me do the same!
I wonder if it's my pre-menopausal symptoms have something to do with not being able to lose weight like I used to? When Joel would leave to go back to work, I'd drop 5-6 pounds the first week he was gone. I could always count on gaining at least 7-8 when he was home but because I could lose them quickly when he left, it wasn't a problem. Times have changed!!
Oh well hope you all can get motivated because every time I get ready to "snack", I think of ya'll and don't!! ![]()
thanks girls! i am pretty proud of myself, especially since i have lost inches around my middle (i never lost the tummy after having the boys) and my pants don't fit and my shirt look better! i've hated the way i look since the boys were born and now, not so much. now i have to figure out how to lose the couple of chins i acquired when i was pg. ![]()
can we talk snacks? i am struggling to find things to snack on that would cost me a ton of points at the end of the day. i have been eating pickles (which are free, as are all vegetables), but i'm kinda tired of the green fingers.
i found that jolly time healthy pop kettlecorn, the whole bag of microwave poprorn is only 1 point!!! but i have to be in the mood for popcorn.
that rootbeer shake sounds yummy, but what about the sugar in the soda?? i don't typically drink soda (just water for me). so the sugar would probably about kill me! ![]()
other than veggies, what have you got in your snack arsenal?
thanks!!
well - did not make it on the bike again today. My parent's and a business partner showed up for dinner and left late.
Had steak, rice and salad - not too bad, kept it small and made a fresh fruit salad with just a splash of our homemade red wine in it - YUM!
Anna - forgot I had walnuts with my fruit for lunch and breakfast today - does that make me a little better? LOL!
mjs - I may be in the same boat as you - never gained, could take it off easy if I did, but now forget it! Looking to lose about the same numbers too. I still feel if I could just add in the exercising for real I could do it no problem - but something else always seems to interfere with it. *sigh*
Jess - as for other snacks, correct me if I am wrong, but isn't a small peppermint pattie only 1 point? That usually can help take the edge off if I need a real chocolate fix.
okay, i know i said earlier that i will eat anything, but now i'm making myself sound like a picky eater (i'm really not). i actually don't like chocolate and mint together (i know, i'm weird). i don't like mint at all, to be honest.
i am thinking i might try some of the actual weight watchers candies. they are 1 point a piece.
CK I'm so glad you made it back! I've been missing you!
Your place sounds awesome! I would love to see it in person! You should pick a day out of the week that belongs only to YOU!! That day would only be for you to do what YOU want to do & nothing else. You deserve it after all these months preparing for the new place. Don't wait for a Dr's appt to be able to get your toes done. Find the time for you. Your special & you should shine!! Once a week girl... DO IT!! Sooo glad to see you back again & thanks for the little message ![]()
CK I'm so glad you made it back! I've been missing you!
I'm trying, believe me, I'm trying! I was just talking to my sister yesterday (after my pedicure escape) about swapping kids one day a week so each of us would get a day off each week. Her kids are in preschool during the year so it would only work during the summer but I'd take that! Hopefully we can work that out. My only problem is that I have SUCH a hard time taking time for me. When I've got a moment away from the kids, I always feel like I need to sort through the pile of bills or clean something. And now it's so bad because our house is a disaster area of boxes and crap (never knew how much crap we had until we dragged it all out and boxed it all up - I didn't have enough time before the move to really sort out things for Goodwill but I need to do that now as I unpack so I can get rid of some of this clutter!) and with the house looking like a moving truck exploded right in the middle of it, it's so hard to take time for things like a pedicure because there is so much on my to do list that pampering really doesn't have a place right now.
I think I need to join WW again and if there's time, I'll go tomorrow. I have had success with it in the past but my problem is that it's so hard to go to meetings with the boys (ages 4 and 2 1/2) because they just can't sit still and I always spend the whole time worrying about who I'm bothering with the boys being there that I get nothing out of it and I did try the online program but wasn't disciplined enough to go online and log every day. But it's apparent that I need a "plan" and WW is a good one. So hopefully I can squeeze that in this week!
If anyone is interested, we have a website for the stables. You can check it out and see just how massive of an undertaking all of this has been! I think I've posted this here before so sorry if I'm repeating myself but I'm so darned proud of my hubby and his brother with what they pulled off with this business. Now we just have to get more boarders so we can keep afloat! The website is www.castlewoodstables.com
This is the first time that I have looked at the lounge. Your title for weight loss intrigued me. I have four kids (last two are twins). This past winter I was soooo tired of being overweight that I just started my own plan and dropped 30 lbs in six weeks. I did it the old fashioned way...diet and exercise. If anyone wants to know how I did it, I'm happy to share. Just pm me as I don't want to be the skinny "b" coming in on your posts.
I'm happy to provide verbal motivation and a kick in the a** if you need it. The hardest thing I've ever done is lose weight...I was an emotional eater and loved food. I still do, but now I control it. I've lost a total of about 40lbs now and feel good. But, I'll be honest, it's still a daily struggle. Anyway, sorry to intrude on your posts. I'll crawl back to the cake forum now. ![]()
cupcakemom - don't you slink off anywhere! I'm sure we all want to hear how you did it. Other people's success keeps us motivated! Please share your tips with all of us!
