Margie, my nephew was around to help me though, as I said in a pervious post I'm PMSing so that didn't go over too well. My brother was also next door at the office for a while so I did have him as back up.

I ended up having to take apart part of what I did because I didn't put a wire in the right spot. While taking that part apart, I dropped a screw down the center tube. So I took that off thinking maybe that part was closed off. Many screws undone and I realised that nope it was open and that the screw was down in the wheel part. At this point my brother came over to help me flip it all upside down. Because not only was it in the heaviest part, I'd already connected it to the base parts.

After getting the screw out, I re-put together all of those parts and moved of to the foot petals and such. Well in attaching the arm thing to the foot thing I had this bolt thing with a notch on it, that the notch was suppose to fit into the notch whole on the frame. Well every time I went to attach the screw the notch would move. It moved so much it actually scrapped the frame. I probably fooled with that one part for over 30 mins. Not to mention coming next door for a wrench to hold the bolt place but not finding the right size.

Now at this time, if a guy had been present I probably would have gotten it finished. But instead after being close to tears of frustration and having to tell my nephew that if I couldn't get it after 30 mins I'm pretty sure he couldn't either, I decided it was time to step away and I'd have my brother look at it in the morning.

I returned my nephew to my parents, at dinner with them then had a revolation. I knew I needed something to hold the bolt thing in place while I turned the screw. It dawned on me that I have a adjustable wrench. Got home, used it and finished putting it together.

So if it hadn't been for my mess up in the beginning I could have skipped redoing several parts. Now the bolt, that was just a defaulty piece. Atleast that is my story and I am sticking to it.

I knew it was going to be a time consuming project, but I'm glad I did put it together and did do it mostly on my own. Of course you can see that the tools in my house collect more dust than anything else. I feel much more comfortable with a spatula in my hand than a wrench, let me tell ya!

Of course I'm going to claim I got a good work out just putting that thing together, with all that bending, lifting, squating and sitting I did. HeHe. And yes it is a work out. I started off really fast and was like on no you can't do that. Plus it really gets your heart rate up there. I do know I'm gonna have to ease myself into it. I don't think I can hope on this thing and do two miles like I can on the treadmill.

It's good to see the monkeys coming out of the wood work, even though I know we are all super busy this time or year. I'm about to sit down and plan my list of things to do tonight and schedule it out so I'm not staying up all night to get it done. Plus the more I can get done tonight the less I have to do tomorrow. icon_smile.gif It would be nice to actually be able to breathe and relax some on Christmas Eve. Normally I'm busy right up until the time to go to grandma's.

My workplace is starting a Biggest Loser challenge on January 4th. We are going to be competing against other Distribution centers. The challenge will last 12 weeks. I am still at 170 and am going to shoot for 20% or 34 pounds. I know this is a lofty goal, but I might as well shoot for the stars! I will be using Calorie Counter dot com to keep track of my intake and exercise. Wish me luck!

Hi everbody!!

I am so sorry for my absence, but I'm pretending by NOT coming here, that I am doing okay. I am not doing that great, eating lots, but it is nice spending lots of time with my family this time of year!

Jaunary is a new year, hopefully it will be a good one for me! I've heard our community council will be having another get-healthy challenge, so that would be very exciting! Last year I lost 18 lbs and am probably about 5 lbs highter than my finishing weight of 172...

Have a wonderful Christmas everybody!!

Manderson, The challenge sounds good. Make sure you have fun with it.

Katherine, we all do that. Enjoy the time with your family and we will all get on track in the near year.

Merry Christmas!!

While on vacation, my doctor's office called to talk about my latest blood work results and things are good! But the doctor said that if I have a problem with energy (I do) then I can bump my dose back up to what it was previous (which I wanted to do anyway). icon_smile.gif So, I'll give that a few weeks to work its magic and then see where my weight goes.

In the meantime, I have a cold or a sinus infection. I'm gonna spend the rest of my day on the couch, I think. icon_smile.gif

Happy New Years!!

I'm getting ready to get back in gear, but still have a few days until I will be home. Monday will be the official new start day. I'm ready for it! I really feel good about this year. Or maybe it is just that I feel better about myself. As I mentioned before I'm in NM for a weeks vacation with the family. I'm staying in one of the downstairs bedrooms and have made point to go down there several times a day. Even though there are bathrooms up here I still make the trip downstairs instead. They have a mirror over this piece of furniture that is at the bottom of the stairs. I love that I don't cringe when I come into sight. I really have lost alot at my waist and am dressing to show it off more. From the front view I am loving my body more. Or course the side view shows me that I still have quite a bit of work to do.

I'm kinda thinking about starting a blog for the last leg of my weight lose journey. Not sure anyone would read it, but I'm thinking it will give me more motivation to keep going so I have things to post about. We will see.

Hope everyone is having a great start to their New Years!

Welcome to any new people that I may have missed! I hope to be around here a lot more, my work is really busy this time of year but I need to make time to be accountable!

I am so ready to just jump back into this, I keep telling my husband that 2010 will be OUR year, a good year for our relationship, a good year for weight loss, and just a good year!

I am ashamed to post my weight, but this morning my weight is back up to 178.2. How did that happen? Well I've been stuffing my face and being completely inactive, that's how! Yesterday I had a good day, I went for a 2 mile job, it was hard since it's been a while, but I need to just get out there! I signed up for a 1/2 marathon training clinic starting in 2 weeks, so I would like to be running at least 5.5 km before that begins, I'm glad I will be forced to run during the winter months!!

This evening me and my SIL decided to go for a walk. OMG!! First let me say it was cold and the sun was starting to go down. Second we are staying up a mountain, so our walk was very hilly. There was a point when walking up the side of the mountain that was over a 45* angle that we did not think we were going to make it. She even called my brother and was telling him to come get us when the road finally leveled off and we saw we were pretty close to 'home'. We made it but man was that a walk. I'm sure we will both be feeling it tomorrow. Hoping I can get back up the stairs in the morning.

We are leaving bright and early in the morning to head home. I'm about ready to return to the real world. The trip is always nice but like any trip there is that point when you want to go home to your bed and I miss my cat and dog.

I know when I get home I will need to spend some time with Hank, (my SIL named my elliptical) even if it is a few minutes. I also need to check out what is in the fridge and see what I have in the way of food in there. Then plan a trip to the grocery store, so I can start eating healthy again.

Jade, I hope you enjoy your time on the couch and I hope you get over the cold/sinus infection soon.

Katherine, was you said it will be a good year. Don't stress over the gain. Just remember you lost it once you can lose it again, plus more.

You can do it. I can do it. We all can do it!

Hey everyone. Only got a minute but wanted to ask if anyone here has ever joined Weightwatchers? I'm thinking of doing the online one. Would love to know what others think of the program. I'm ready to hop back on that train. I feel miserable........ I love the quote " Food never tastes as good as being thin feels" Oh so true, so, so true...........

I did it a long time ago, at least 10 years, and found it good, but have never tried the online one... It is basically calorie counting, but you count points. It does teach you good eating habits and I think it sets lots of people on a better eating path by making them watch what they eat!

Off for an early morning jog! I can't believe how mild it is here, it is usually freezing this time of year. Strange!

My mother in law tried the WW online but wasn't really happy with it. It wasn't until she joined a local group of women that she really started losing the weight. It's easier to find an accountability partner in a local group than online too.

But that was HER experience. It could work for you (it does for others). icon_smile.gif Good luck!!!

Thanks Katherine. Enjoy your jog this morning. I think I'm gonna join up with Weightwatchers online tomorrow with my daughter. I think that working alongside her will make me a bit more accountable. Besides, I can't let her lose more weight than me icon_lol.gif It's gonna be hard keeping up with her, I've got like 24 years on her. My metabolism isn't quite what it used to be. icon_rolleyes.gif Anyway, they've got a special going on where registration is free if you sign up for 3 months. Not too bad.... Hey Jade. Our posts must have crossed paths icon_lol.gif I'm sorry it didn't work for your mother in law. I think I might have a problem with it if I joined alone. I'm hoping that by joining up with my daughter in law, that it will make the difference. If it doesn't work as well as I would like, I'll just cancel my membership when it's close to the 3 month period. Basically, I'm hoping to learn a little more about nutrition and foods that fill you up more, etc. I'm gonna lose this weight no matter what!!!! I am without a doubt looking forward to this journey....... thanks Jade.....

Hey again. I just started a new thread here in the lounge asking for information about the bodybugg like they wear on the Biggest Loser. I thought I would also ask you guys personally if any of you use or know of someone who has the bodybugg. I just recently purchased one and I've been sitting here today reading over the instructions and wow, it seems like it's gonna be a lot more time consuming than I bargained for. I'm already going to be online with weightwatchers, posting my food intake, etc. Not so sure I want to invest so much more time with the bodybugg. Anyway, if any of you have one or know of anyone who has one, I'd really appreciate any information that you can share with me. Thanks so much!!!!

I did WW online and loved it! I lost 14lbs in the first 2 weeks, along with working out every day. A bunch of us at work were all doing WW, then I changed jobs and didn't have that accountability anymore, and of course gained it all back! thumbsdown.gif

I finally got off my butt last night and tried Wii Fit for the first time. It was A LOT of fun!! I was pleasantly surprised! I am also a member on Spark People, and started the boot camp yesterday. They have a 10 minute workout video that you do everyday. I wasn't sure if I would feel anything after only 10 minutes of kickboxing, but my legs were feeling it this morning!

For the first time in MANY months, I actually wanted to get up this morning! I didn't even hit snooze! I have insomnia, and maybe sleep 2 hours a night, and am usually so exhausted in the morning it's at least 30-35 minutes after my alarm goes off that I actually get out of bed. I am hoping that it was the exercise that helped with that!

I am definitely feeling motivated now, and hope I can continue!

Margie, I have a friend that has done it. I think like all diet plans it is about being accountable for the weight, so the weekly meetings may have added benefit. But you know we are here for you as well, so that can be part of your accountablity.

I think of all the 'diets' out there WW is one that I think I'd do over others. It is like the Jenny Craig or Nurtistystem meals you can order. Of course you are giong to lose weight if you eat what they send you, but it doesn't teach you how to cook for yourself. Atleast with WW you learn the point system and can use it when cooking and when eating out, which is often a hard part of trying to diet. Plus you get to eat regular foods which is always a plus.

I've got a couple of books I bought that I think really help when it comes to learning what you need to eat and what you really should avoid. They go into serving sizes and amounts. I'll have to remember to get the titles for ya.

Katherine, I hope you enjoy your jog. It is 30* right now here, and they say it feels like 20. It feels colder here than it did when we were in NM in the snow. I was so hoping to come back to warmer weather!!

We got back in town around 6:30 last night. After unloading my parents car and moving stuff into mine, then opting to go with my parents to see my grandma, then grabbing a bit to eat on the way home I didn't make it to my house until after 11 last night. My cat was super happy to see me. He just meowed and meowed and wanted loads of attention. He slept beside me all night long.

Since I got home so late and started the morning off way to early after very little sleep the night before, I just crashed. I had a breif thought about doing the elipitcal but quickly changed my mind. I did set the alarm earlier with plans on getting up and doing 10 or 15 mins on it this morning. And then I slept through the alarm and woke up 20 mins before I was suppose to be at work. Thankfully I don't have far to go and my 'boss' doesn't get mad if I am a few mins late.

I grabbed cheese sticks and an orange for breakfast but the orange is still sitting here. Atleast I did eat something though, and I am going to raid the frezer for lunch. This afternoon I need to make a list of food and get to the grocery store tonight or tomorrow to stock up. I'm also suppose to go hang out with a friend tonight and have already told myself I will get on the ellipitical before I go. I will, I will, I will.

Hopefully tomorrow morning I will get up and start getting use to doing it first thing.

Welcome to a new year ladies! Lets make it our year!

Hey Kim. OH, so glad to hear that you liked Weightwatchers. I am getting ready to go online right now and join up. I too used to go to Spark people but haven't since my computer crashed some time ago. I need to get back on that too. I got the Wii Fit for Christmas and am very anxious to give it a try. I had hoped to this morning but things got crazy around here, so this evening or tomorrow morning for sure. I too am totally pumped to get this excess weight off and feel better. I am so glad that you too are feeling motivated. It's gonna be a GREAT year for all of us. I can just feel it!

Kim I am so not a morning person so I can understand the fondness of the snoze button. I am hoping that by getting into a new routine of exercising in the morning it gives me enegry for the rest of the day and that I'll want to get up and exercise. Or course I blew that this morning but there is tomorrow and I will try again then.

I haven't gotten to sit down and do my SMART goals yet, but I know I need to focus on using all those exercise items at my house. It is time for them to be useful rather than dust catchers!

I'm glad you are feeling better in the morning and enjoyed your work out!

I weighed this morning and am up from what my weight was before Christmas and the trip. I'm going to weight again Wed morning and use that as my base number for 2010. I am hoping to lose 25-30lbs this year. No wait, I am going to lose 25-30lbs this year.

Oh, thanks so much Tracy. Yeah, Weightwatchers seems more realistic to me. I know that I can lose weight by myself without any help from any program, however, I think that I can really learn more about nutrition through a source such as Weightwatchers. I have lost weight by simply counting calories but I think there is so much more that I need to learn to be successful in keeping the weight off. With the registration being free, it seems like the best time to sign up and see what they can learn me icon_lol.gif

I'll look at the other books I have when I get home tonight but I know for sure one of them is Nutrition For Dummies. The beginning of the book talks about how your body processes food, which is interesting to learn about. Then it goes into each food group how to read labels and so on.

http://www.dummies.com/store/product/Nutrition-For-Dummies-4th-Edition.productCd-0471798681.html

I bought mine at Barns and Nobles. I want to make another trip back out there for some other books. I mostly avoid the diet books that say you can lose 20 lbs in two weeks or what ever other outragious statements they have. I go for ones that have real information that you can actually use and work into your life. I think the next books I buy will be about exercises, work outs and that kind of information.

I'm in the mind frame of arm yourself with information. icon_wink.gif

Kim, sounds like you are off to a fantastic start!!! icon_smile.gif

Margie, i think if you are doing it with somebody it will be easier to stick to WW!

I got the Wii Fit for Christmas and while I find it lots of fun, i don't find it to be a good work out. Perhaps it is because I'm used to more challenging things in terms of running and strength training. I think it is actually good that I didn't lose as much strength, endurance and aerobic-capacity as I thought I would have!

Tracey, I've heard it is really cold in Texas right now! It is hovering around freezing here now, which is actually very very warm for this time of year, and there is no snow on the ground at all, so great for running! icon_smile.gif

I love how you said I AM going to lose, instead of HOPING to lose. icon_smile.gif

This is going to be a WONDERFUL year for all of us, I can feel it! icon_smile.gif Are we all posting base-2010 weights tomorrow? icon_smile.gif

Katherine, I'm not sure we even hit the 40s yesterday. Right now at 9 in the morning it is 24* and it says it feels like 17*. UGH!! I'm not built for cold weather. I think we are suppose to be in the mid to low teens as lows towards this weekend. Sigh. Guess I'll be trying to stay in in the warm.

I did my 15 mins on the ellipitical last night and so didn't think I was gonna make it. I did have to pause a couple of times but I did make it through a full 15 mins on it which was 1.1 miles. Boy was I huffing and puffing when I got done. I had planned on waking up early this morning and doing 10 or so mins on the ellipitical but I woke up with a bad headache. It is finally starting to go away, thank goodness or it would be a long morning. That just means I have to do it after work. As well as get to the grocery store.

I'll be posting my weight tomorrow. This mornings is still up but lower than yesterday. I know I've gained, and I am okay with that, mainly since not being okay with that isn't going to change anything. It just means I have lose it again and then take off the rest. I can do it. I've already lost 25lbs before I can lose another 25lbs, right? icon_wink.gif

Tracy - WOW, 15 minutes on the eliptical is GREAT!! Does it show how many calories you burned? Tell ya what, it takes a lot of stamina to do that eliptical. I'm just starting back on the treadmill and I'm telling myself to take it slow. I usually start out way too much and then suffer the consequences with my knee problem. So today, I got in a mile. Not great but better than nothing. I'll gradually add on to the time. Then after I get back to my 2-3 miles at 3.5mph, I'll start with the eliptical..... Slow and steady wins the race..... You're doing GREAT!!
Shelley - I know exactly how you are feeling. When the holidays came around, I said that I wouldn't overindulge but I wasn't going to worry about a few extra calories a day. Yeah, right icon_rolleyes.gif I not only gained back what I lost but added on 8 pounds more. Can you believe it? I obviously wasn't watching anything but my hands going into my mouth with as much food as they could hold icon_lol.gificon_cry.gif Oh well, my bad....... Time to pick myself back up and go for the goal...... I'm gonna make it and ya know what? You are too!!!!!!

I'm still getting back to the eatting thing. I did okay yesterday until last night. A friend wanted to hang out last night and by the time I got home, played with Hank, got a shower and dressed I was running late, so I decided to forgo dinner. I didn't have anything quick and easy to cook, minus a frezer meal which I knew I'd need for today. So I ended up setting out a chicken breast from the freezer and decided I'd eat later. When I got to my friend's place he had gotten a pizza. He said he knew it wasn't healthy but I was welcomed to some. So of course I ate some. Sigh.

Hello everybodyicon_smile.gif I just found this thread, sort of by accident. My Christmas present to myself was Weight Watchers Online and yesterday I finished my first week. I lost 2.8 lbs! Yeah Me! I've never done WW so I was somewhat skeptical, plus I had a lot of success on Atkins several years ago. Unfortunately I had some physical and emotional challenges and I let myself gain it all backicon_sad.gif WW is totally different for me since there's nothing that's restricted, you just have to count everything you eat. It isn't as hard as it sounds and I really like the website. They're offing free sign-up right now so for 3 months I paid only $53.85. I can handle that, considering there's no pre-packaged foods to buy and I can eat normally and cook for my family. My doctor has been bugging me to do WW so I am looking forward to seeing him in a few months and hopefully having positive results to show.

Congratulations!!

Margie, when I was doing it all the time, two miles on the treadmill at a good speed wasn't bad. I wasn't sure I was going to make it through the one mile on the ellipitical last night. I am going to have to go into it slow and easy that is for sure. I may get to where I do 5 mins on it then get off and do some weight training then get back on and repeat. Something to mix it up. There is no way I could get on it tonight and do 30 mins that's for sure, not if I wanted to get up out of bed tomorrow.

It did show the calories burned but I can't remember it right now. I remember thinking that wasn't as many as I felt I should have with all that work.

I know that foods like pizza will cross my path. I also know that when they do I just have to make sure I limit my portions. Last night if I hadn't eaten the pizza with him I would have probably stopped for something like Taco Bell, or had gone home and cooked/eat too much cause I would have been overly hungry. When you look at it like that in the long run it it probably evened out. Plus I didn't have a big breakfast or big lunch so I probably had some calories to play with.

I'll know for sure tomorrow, but I think I am probably up 5 or so pounds from where I was the week before Christmas and my weight was already up a little at that point. We have 10 months to really get into some good habits before those two big holidays again. icon_smile.gif

Welcome Moxey! Congrats on the 2.8lbs! That is great!

Oh and Shelley, my headache went away this morning, thankfully! I didn't think I would make it through the morning with ringing phones if it hadn't. I'm thinking it was due to lack of caffine. Usually I drink tea during the day and yesterday other than a cup of tea in the morning I didn't have any.

I'm off to dig out that frozen meal from my frezer and make a quick salad for lunch before I get sucked into some fast food. My brother and uncle are discussing what they want for lunch. Sigh....
