I hope you can find motivation! It's really really hard to get back to it when you're just not feeling like yourself. I've been struggling with that since the baby was born. I just feel like my body is not my own, even if I'm not BFing (breastfeeding). I want to get back to feeling like I own it.

Just take time for yourself, and work on feeling better about yourself before anything else. The rest will follow. icon_smile.gif

I'm trying. I'm just to the point where I know if I don't do something, now, in a month or two from now I'll be over my highest weight.

I've just got to work up the want to grab my life by the horns and direct it where it is going, rather than just floating along. And of course there are things going on in the back ground that just aren't helping me mentally get there.

Best thing to do is focus on those things, not the weight loss. Sure, the weight is going to bother you, but until you can get things straightened out personally, it'll be that much harder for you to lose the weight. I'm going through a similar thing, and it's starting to take a toll on me. Am I losing weight? Yes, but I'm finding I'm miserable doing it right now.

A new baby, huge changes in my lifestyle just from that and a crappy job that just stayed crappy while I was out on leave just makes me want to give up and get even fatter. But I know I can't do it. I definitely manage change better in groups, so I'm hoping that's what gets me through this.

But if my DH eats one more bowl of freaking ice cream in front of me, I'm going to shove it down his throat. *sweet/evil smile*

Have you see the new WW ice cream bars? They have a chocolate covered Dulce de Leche one that is totally yummy, and low on the calorie scale compared to the others.

Friday night I did 2 miles on the thread mill and 3 miles on the exercise bike.
Saturday night I did 1 mile on the thread mill and 4 on the exercise bike.
Last night I did 1 mile on the thread mill and 3 on the exercise bike.

I was having a hard time getting into it last night but because I knew I had class tonight I had to do something. That was what I managed before I gave up. I don't know if I will get anything done tonight, since I won't get home from class until about 9:30 and I'll still need to eat.

It is a start at least...

Wow, Tracy. What a GREAT start. Sounds like you're really diving in. I'm doing pretty well with the treadmill. Need to step it up though and try out that eliptical. Weight is still going down but VERY slowly. My metabolism has really slowed down. Still eating right at 1200 calories a day so that is going really well. Just need to be patient now. I can't lose the way I used to. Just a known fact as you get older... icon_cry.gif

I dare ya.... I double dog dare ya!!! lol. That was funny. Yeah, I do know what ya mean though. It's hard watching someone eat all those things that you wished you could eat. Makes is a bit difficult. Gotta have lots of dedication to your cause, that's for sure. Tracy mentioned that W.W. ice cream which is lower in calories. That sure sounds good. Gonna have to check that out. Maybe you could try it out and when hubby devours his ice cream and all those calories, you can have the W.W. at a fraction of the calories he's consuming.....

I've still got to work on the eating thing. I figure if I work out more, it'll make me want to eat better since I'll be thinking about how long it takes to burn those stupid calories off.

I realized its time for some new shoes when I was walking the other night.

It is also taking me 20 mins to do a mile on the treadmill, when I use to be able to do it in under 15 and my best was around 12. I'm trying to start off slow though, to get the muscles use to it. Don't want to strain anything by doing too much too fast.

That's playing it smart... I used to always overdo in the beginning of starting any kind of exercise routine. Ya learn after a while to take it slow at first and gradually build up. Actually, even right now, it takes me about 18 minutes to do a mile on the treadmill. I should probably try to step that up a little. Yeah, I have to agree with you. Once you've taken the time to work out and build up a sweat, you do think twice about what you put into your mouth. You don't want all that hard work to be for nothing cause you decide to eat a couple of cookies. It's just not worth it.

Yep, when it takes you a mile on the treadmill to burn over 100 calories you are less likely to go sit down on the couch with a bag of chips.

Just wondering if you Tracy or Jade have heard about the 17 day diet plan? I've heard people talk about how great it is. I believe that there are 4 cycles to this diet. The first cycle, you cut out most carbs and the second cycle you start adding some back in, etc...It's supposed to kick your metabalism into high gear. A friend of mine is going to start it this week. It will be interesting to see how she does on it. It's supposed to be a healthy diet. It's been talked about in a positive way on some of the major talk shows including the Dr's.

My weight loss study doesn't permit most carbs. In fact, the only carbs I get are from the fruits I'm allowed to eat (the veggies I'm allowed don't contain carbs).

I'm down 11.2lbs so far. 4.5 more lbs and I'll be at my pre-pregnancy weight. icon_smile.gif I'm still hoping to get back to 140, but it's going to take time. Once these 6weeks are over (5wks left), I'll do a 3wk transition to see if I can maintain the weight, and then on to a more normal diet, but still low-carb. Carbs are my weakness, and always will be. icon_sad.gif

I do pretty good limiting some carbs myself, but I couldn't do a no carb thing. I would never stick to it.

Lunch yesterday was subway, with lots of veggies, so that was a plus. Dinner last night, was Sonic Burger, tots and a chocolate shake. I'm having issues at the second job, and was in a really bad mood last night. It was either the chocolate shake or alcohol, so I went for the shake. I did throw away half of the tots though.

And I didn't work out any because it was after 9:30 when I got home and still had to eat after that.

We shall see how today goes.

It's only limited for the first 6 weeks, and I can do that. I can deal with just about anything for 6 weeks. icon_smile.gif After that I get to slowly add stuff back in. The nice thing about this diet is that I can see what kinds of veggies and fruits are going to cause me weight gain. Some people do fine with mushrooms, but others either bloat or gain weight from them. There's a bit of trial and error.

I did cheat a bit yesterday, but I wasn't feeling good and the only thing that didn't turn my stomach as toast or crackers. I did make sure to drink plenty of water, so I think that helped.

I think I'm going to buy some steaks tonight for me, since that's one of the meats I can have. icon_smile.gif Maybe get some crab meat as well or shrimp.

Oh see, I love me some mushrooms, I'd eat them no matter what! icon_wink.gif They are a staple ingredient to me.

I've got some ground meat in the fridge that I meant to cook last night but didn't feel like it after class. Gonna make some taco meat out of it. Then I can make a big salad with a smaller portion of meat and cheese on top.

Last night I did one mile on the treadmill and 4 on the exercise bike.

And I did make my taco salad for dinner. Heavy on the salad part, light on the cheese and meat, no dressing, no sour cream. Hopefully that will counterbalance the hamburger and small fries I had a lunch.

Way to go!!!!

My cheat on Monday didn't hurt my weight loss, so I'm feeling happy about that. I'm still losing, but today's loss wasn't as much as I'd hope. The average weight-loss for this study is about a pound a day. My mom did this and lost 37lbs in 6 weeks. Yes, that's drastic, but the idea is to get a HUGE chunk of weight off in a short time, and then work long term to maintain. The other idea is to take that chunk off so if anyone is at the cusp of not being able to exercise due to size, they'll have an easier time.

And before anyone screams and tells me how bad, I must remind you I'm under the care of a licensed physician and nutritionist, and it's short term. Besides, I think it's better than major surgery, IMO. icon_wink.gif

Jade, what is the name of the diet program that you are on? Just curious.
A friend of mine went on the,,,,, oh geeez, what is the name of that diet..... HCZ or something like that. She gave herself an injection every day. She also followed a very low calorie diet for a few weeks at which time, she could add more food etc... She did lose a lot of weight really quickly. I don't think that plan is for me but it seemed to work well for her. The plan you are on seems to be working pretty darned well for you. I'm still going with 1200 calories a day including foods from all the food groups, etc. It's going really slowly this time around. But I'll eventually get there I guess. I've lost 18 lbs over the last couple of months but still have about 20 lbs to go to reach my goal of 125. We travel quite a bit and that's when it gets a bit difficult to plan my meals. However, I have been going online and finding which restaurants are close to where we are staying and then pulling up their menu and nutritional information. That seems to be working out pretty well. There have been a couple of times that I've strayed but for the most part, I've been sticking with the better choice foods. I've got lots of new recipes that I want to try if we are ever home long enough for me to try them out. I'm starting to miss my Lays chips though. icon_cry.gif I really need to find a substitute for them. Or maybe just have a few here and there. NOOOOO, now that I think of it, I wouldn't stop at just a few....... icon_lol.gif Man, there's nothing like a good ole greasy Lays chip.... icon_rolleyes.gif Control Margie, Control.........

It's the HCG diet, same as your friend. icon_smile.gif I'm doing it as part of a study with my holistic doctor, and at the end I'm to submit a testimonial about my experience. My mom and a colleague of mine have done it as well.

I think your place is good too! I think each person needs to evaluate all the options and then make an informed decision. I weighed the pros and cons and honestly, the only real cons I found were just not mentioning the name of the diet otherwise you could be bombarded with people telling you how horrible it is. *shrug* I think smoking is horrible too, but I don't go around telling people that. icon_wink.gif

Have you tried the Lays version of Pringles? I wonder if they're any healthier. My potato chip vice are Peerless. They're made in my hometown and cannot be bought down here, lol. icon_biggrin.gif

From the little I have read about the HCG diet it worries me, but at the same time, I think you are responsible and wouldn't do anything to harm yourself.

The think what scares me about most drastic diets is that people tend to just jump on the band wagon because they just want to lose the weight quickly. And while losing weight quickly is great, all of us on this thread know there is so much more involved than just dropping the weight. You don't just lose the weight and live happily ever after.

I can partially understand the more drastic diets for people that have weights in very unhealthy zones, but if people aren't willing to work to lose the weight, aren't willing to make life style changes, they aren't going to keep the weight off in the end.

I'm not saying any of that towards you or about you. As you said we all have to do what works best for us, and what we feel comfortable with.

I know for me, what I do to take the weight off will be what I will have to do for the rest of my life. I know that when I get relaxed and start eating more and more fast food, I can't keep the weight off. I know that if I make myself count calories and exercise I do so much better.

Margie, I like the 100 calories pringles. The box has plain, sour cream and onion and cheddar. They have the salty goodness of potato chips, but they are in that pre sized pack which tends to make me stick with portion control better.

If you do decide to get Lays, just buy the smaller package of them. That way you won't have as many of them laying around taunting you. icon_wink.gif

Jade - I thought maybe that was the diet that you are on. Like I said, my friend lost quite a bit months ago and has managed to keep it off thus far. I do wish you luck with it. I know it must be awesome to see that scale go down every day. I know that it will start to slow down now but it really is working for you.
My weight loss has been kind of crazy. I can go a couple of weeks and not lose anything at all even though I've done everything right. Then suddenly it will drop a couple of pounds or more but creep up a little, then no loss again for a while. CRAZY!! It certainly is doing something different than it has in the past. It's testing my patience, that's for sure. But hey, as long as I see some progress at some point in time and I know that I'm eating healthy, I'm ok with it going slowly. Main thing is to try to be healthier and try to increase my desire for healthier meals. It takes a while to change your taste. Hoping you can teach an old dog new tricks icon_lol.gif

Margie, I wonder if the weather has anything to do with it?

I know here it has been super hot! According to some reports July was nothing but 100+ for us. I know one day this month we hit 110.

I know there are days that I drink what I normally would but still feel very thirsty and am thinking with the heat the way it is if it is easier to get dehydrated. When that happens our bodies hold on to the water.

This may be one of those times, when watching inches is a good thing to do.

I stepped on the scale this morning, just to see, and I'm down two lbs from last Friday, but I'm guessing it is more water weight than actual fat loss. We'll see.

I'm kinda like you, I've always done well with slow and steady as long as I was doing the things I knew I needed to be doing. I'm not there completely yet with that list of things to be doing, but I'm working my way towards it.

Wow, that's great Tracy!! Tracy's got her groove back. thumbs_up.gif I've been drinking tons of water. I've actually gotten to the point where I like water. I've got this auto immune disorder going on and my body is doing some really strange things. I'm thinking that all of these things may be causing this weird kind of loss that I'm experiencing. I think my system is just totally out of whack. That's why I'm trying not to eat less than the 1200 calories a day. I've got to make sure that I consume all the nutrition that my body needs each day but still cut out enough calories to lose weight. I'll just keep plugging along and hopefully everything will fall into place... It can be a challenge but that's what keeps life interesting....

I think staying above the 1200 is a good thing, and making sure the 1200 are from good caloric foods, rather than bad ones. We'll make it, slowly but surely. One of these days will be our day right?

I just keep reminding myself that I have lost the weight before, I have the tools and the knowledge to do it, I just have to work for it.

I agree with your momma. That's why I know I have to stick to it, and do the work.

So I did a stupid 7 miles on the exercise bike, then another mile on the treadmill. I slept sound last night that is for sure. I also took an alieve before bed, because I figured other wise I might not make it up. Muscles, besides one that was already a little sore, aren't totally protesting yet, but I have a feeling by tonight, or tomorrow morning they will let me know they are there.

I have class tonight, so I have a good 'excuse' not to do anything. And I did quite a bit last night, so part of me is telling myself it will be okay if I skip tonight. The other part of me is telling me that I weight in tomorrow morning and any little bit could help (though I know in my head, that fat loss isn't that instantaneous).

I'll be home from class between 9:15 and 9:30, then will still need to eat. So that doesn't make me all that excited to jump up and work out. I'm not ruling it out doing it quite yet, but I'm thinking I won't be mad at myself either if it doesn't happen.

On the bike I can do about 1 mile in 5 minutes. While it doesn't seem to burn that many calories (156 total for the 7 miles) it makes me sweat! I do the settings that change the resistance up on ya, other wise I'd stick to the easiest one and never change it. So I picked the setting for 30 mins and just started peddling. At the end of the 30 I was a quarter of a mile from 7 miles so I just finished it out.

I had a friend convince me to go ahead and do the treadmill. I was tempted to skip it. 1 mile on it, 21 mins (I just can't get below the 20 mark), burned 122 calories.

I know neither are completely accurate, but the treadmill does seem to burn more, not sure why.

I can tell the aleve has worn off and I know I will feel it more later tonight.

I was tired after working both jobs and decided not to work out. I'm fine with that. Life will happen and I won't always be able to do it. For me the test isn't messing, it's getting back at it the next day, which I plan to do.

And the snickers bar? Well one of my students bought it for me. I took it home, ate my 300 calorie dinner then decided I'd have half of the candy bar. Half means half the calories. So instead of 280 I only had 140 calories, and my eating yesterday was pretty good.

The other half of the candy bar? Well it went into the freezer. I figure that away I'd be less inclined to just go in and grab it if it was frozen. icon_smile.gif

And I weighted this morning. I'm down -2.4 from last week. Not to bad for the first week back.

Happy Friday everyone!

WooHoo... Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Way to go Tracy!!!!!!! Wow, talk about restraint... You did awesome about the candy bar. That really does shows will power. Putting it in the freezer - great idea.
I did get fries with my BLT that I ordered at Friendlys a couple of days ago. It came with the sandwich. I guess I could have told them to leave them off but honestly, I was raised with the thought that you get what you pay for and don't waste any food. Anyway, I did eat about half of them and by the way, they were SOOOOOOO good. icon_lol.gif I felt a little guilty about it afterward but ya know, it's ridiculous to think that you're gonna go through life never eating a french fry. At least for me it's out of the question. I didn't eat them all but did eat enough so that I was satisfied and didn't feel deprived. I did sneak a way in this morning and I'm only up .2 so I think I'm alright. Need to get busy with the exercise today.
