I tried too - I got about 15 done but by the looks of it I don't think it helped much - I'll try to do some more this weekend if I get a few minutes icon_smile.gif

Here are my last two wedding cakes done in the last month. Lessons learned with these cakes, especially the fruit one.

Thank you for looking. I am waiting for the professional photos of both of these cakes. Especially the one without the flowers. The bride was insistent on her placing the flowers on the cake. She was going to make the cake herself but her friend (bride for the fruit cake) convinced her to let me make the cake.

TFL!

I know there are several boo boos on this one.....not happy with the corners I worked and worked trying to get those right. I am happy with the daisies, I loved them.

I do not understand judging.....this was one of two entered in the local competition, and this one won first.....the other one was the brown ribbon one (which I felt was the nicest cake I have ever done) won a third. I am happy, just confused!

Judging is a funny thing- the skill level on your second cake is a little higher with the gelatin bow- it was very well executed and, despite some minor imperfections, it was a clean edged square cake. I see why you took first with it- great work!icon_smile.gif

The cake was iced nice and smooth and then I had to cover it up with the fondant dots - darnit!! I'm really pleased with how this one turned out. Here is a cake I did this weekend as a favour to my mom's friend for her granddaughters 1st birthday. I was able to do whatever I wanted and have wanted to try a pillow cake for a while so I thought why not icon_smile.gif There are a few things I would do different with the carving next time but the cake itself was really moist so I was worried if I carved away too much it would crack and fall apart on me. Thanks in advance for all comments/critiques.

60th Anniversary cake made for a very good friend's parents.

The 2nd picture has a precious moments in it just to show scale. It's a really small cake. I love it because of that.

Overall, I'm happy with how it came out although my bead border could definitely use improvement (I finally was brave enough to try it on a cake).

I love the airbrush work, but I hate the 6" on top!! For some reason, they never come out as even as my other tiers!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif What am I doing wrong???

This is a fall wedding cake = first time doing the leaves with airbrush, DH set up a table outside for me to do them! Acorns were made with caramels, candy clay for the tops. Leaves are gumpaste, ribbon is 50/50 - handpainted to make it look more rustic. (and I know the board isn't great, but I ran out of fondant)

There is an additional pic of a close up of the leaves, I was pretty thrilled with how they came out.

Here is my first baseball cap, this is for my SIL birthday (he always wears a hat like this one) All fondant, the bill is 50/50.

I know I need to work on the boards......ideas?? (IMO the plain fondant doesn't look that much better than the foil ones) I am not one who has good "vision" for the detail things like that, any help is appreciated!
