I'll definitely go back and start critiquing from where I joined, although I fall into that new to decorating category. Here are a couple of my latest:

Hi I firstly would like to thank Leah for posting the link to this on another thread. I would like to know if you kind people would critique my work. I don't know how to post the link to specific cakes but they are in my gallery. I think as time has gone on my work has improved but any comments are appreciated. I am thinking of entering a cake in a local agricultural show - being a horse cart and harness farmy theme going to market to place on top of the cake which I will start moulding shortly. I would like to try to start moulding flowers - I did a few roses recently which although need improvement I think turned out well.
soo excited for this topic lol!!! k i dont have the links either, but i have been baking/decorating for a little over a year now....and ive only taken wilton course 2 pls have a look in my gallery and let me know if im getting better!!! thanks in advance!!

Hi and welcome to the both of you. To copy your links to this forum, click on the picture of the cake you want to be critiqued and then copy the link from your web browser. Come here and post it with your comment. We ask that you just start with no more than your latest three or particular ones that you really want some honest critique about. In return, you do the same for the others in this group. Be sure to add that you belong to a critique group when you put your cake description on your photo. That lets other people know that you have asked for honest critiquing and no one who looks at your photo gets offended or afraid that they might be critiqued the same way.
Ok here goes. This is my first roses. The photo makes the top border look top heavy but IRL it looked ok. Also the plaque was a bit small. When I measured the size against the cake tin it was ok but I forgot to add in the BC and fondant.

then this one was done for a royal visit. The plaque is removable all hand moulded in gumpaste and painted letters - the fringe was done with an extruder. Did not buy the right gold to put on it - now I have a better one...and the silver when it dried did not come out very silver more pewter. I have been trying to source the airbrush colours with no luck yet - I am in New Zealand so need to import it. Was not too happy with the scroll ashttp://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1687203 the black paint would not stick over the top of the silver....
Last one I promise. This was my most elaborate cake yet. The boots and hat are gumpaste and hollow so they are not solid blocks of paste. Had to do the flowers on the bottom border to balance the top part. I know the swags are not great and my hubby says the 'bits in the middle look like slugs" but it was all I could think of at the time to cover the mess I made at the top of the swags !!! Wood effect is painted and impressed with a ruler for the planks. Anyway client loved it.
sorry this in the banner cake my link did not come out right

So I've been decorating cakes for a couple of years now as a hobby. Just for friends and family. My family always raves about the cakes, but don't really know a whole lot about them. These are two that I did this spring - I think they turned out well, and I want to know the areas where I need to improve. I'm making a very good friends wedding cake this summer, so pointers on where to improve are much needed!!!

Hi all, I'd love some constructive criticism if anyone has the time? I have 6 cakes in my photos. I'm a hobby baker for now, just learning the tricks of the trade.
Thanks

If you are new and are joining this forum for the first time, please take a moment and go to the first page of this thread to familiarize yourself with how we critique here and what you can do to add your experience and wisdom to other people. thanks!
No problem, LisaPeps. I just want to make sure that people know that we are all here to support each other.

WOW! Hi guys! It has certainly been forever. Nice to see some old faces still over here and lots of new ones, too.
I'm not doing many cakes these days, but have done a few over the last year. I feel I've lost my "touch" and am out of practice.
This is Lexi's Wedding Cake and cupcakes. She provided the cake topper, but when I delivered the cake, the cake topper was not there. So I had to take pictures without one. Kinda sucked!

This next one, "Hat Box/Red Hat Society" was for a challenge. I bombed on my figure...she looks very weird, and the numbers look sloppy. I would love suggestions on how to make them "better".

This cake is one of my favorites, Little Mermaid. You can't tell from the picture, but the coral is multi-colored with the colors blending into one another. They were really pretty in person and sparkly. I made SugarShacks BC and I have to say, it was not easy to work with. I could NOT get it smooth if my life depended on it, but for this cake, it worked out....made it look a little on the "wavy side."

Thanks for the critiques!
Hi guys! I didn't even realize there was a sub group for critiques, but I'm glad there is. I did a wedding cake a while back and I have to do another for a friend of mine in Feb. I want to know how I can improve on the wedding cake. Thanks guys.

Any suggestions on how to make the shine of luster dust show up in pictures?

Here is a wedding cake I just finished delivering! whew!!
I am upset with the overhead lighting, as you can see it was throwing streaks of light on the cake.

I'm fairly new to decorating, only doing it as a hobby for about a year now. Here are my two latest cakes. Please let me know where I can improve in both technique and design. Thanks!

Not sure if this thread is for 3D fondant/gumpaste figures too, but I'm looking for some feedback on this penguin topper I'm playing around with. Thanks!

Here are my latest. I appreciate all the feedback. Thank you!
First real molding project.

I tried using the fondant markers for this cake's details, not sure I would use them again. They didn't write very smooth.
http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1761755.html
I had trouble with this cake. It went from 3 to 2 tier and there is a definite learning curve with stenciling. But I learned a lot about GP flower techniques and petal dust and presentation. In the end this cake impressed the venue enough to ask for business cards to recommend me.

Thanks again
This is my latest. Its a Betty Boop runout on a plaque. I wanted to do some cornelli work or something on it but I am not brave enough yet to do it on someones cake - I need to practice. Comments appreciated.
