Hi again. This is my latest. Am taking a little cake break for a couple of weeks. I just find it so draining as its so time consuming and I have to get faster. This is my first 3 tier, my second wedding cake. Really happy with the birds - the dog at the house I delivered it to tried to jump up and get them he thought they were real. http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1896783
If I don't pop in again soon have a great christmas everyone !!
this is the first christmas cake i made this yr, for my cousin to take to christmas dinner. only the 3rd time i have done a fondant cake, i think it turned out pretty well, all decorations made by me, i gave it to her, and she didnt say a word!!! of course i didnt tell her it took me all day thurs so i had to spend all christmas eve wrapping the presents i would have done on thurs! so it will be the last cake for her!!!! no nice cake, or good job or anything! grrr! anyway, here it is, i think its a good job, http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1899493

These are my latest. Thank you in advance for any feedback.
This cake was a last minute change. It started out as a baby shower cake but, after I had already baked, filled and iced, my client had to cancel after being hospitalized. I roughed up the icing for texture and used up some RI and DH treated the ER staff to a treat. I already know I need to work on my writing. I hate that part about decorating.

This is a Debbie Brown design for a ballet dancer's birthday. You will see oozing of the mashmellow filling around the bottom of the skirt. I had serious issues with this cake. Not the decorating but the baking. Had to start over twice.

This is from cakes I saw on here. Rudolph made me smile making him and I received some awesome compliments about him.

Hi everyone, I've been out of touch with cakecentral for a long time now, and I changed my screenname due to some internet bullying/threatening stuff (how sad!) that I had to deal with. I hope that some of you will remember my old name by the cakes I still have stored here, but if you're not sure and want to know, just pm me. I do plan to get back involved with the sub group and commenting as I just love this thread.
Ok, whew, that said. I am hoping for some feedback on this guitar cake and was also wondering what you would charge for it?
Thanks to CC for all the support they gave me when I needed help with the internet bullying too. You guys are the best!

Hi all I am back and I hope you all had a good holiday. This is my first for the year. First time making a flower spray and doing extension work. Broke a few strings and will fix them up later I just wanted to finish the cake today.

the lettering looks a bit wonky (not noticable in real life standing over the cake as you do) and the piping on the top looks a bit heavy but thats just the angle of photo I loaded you can see the piping work better on it. It was hard to get a photo where it did not look all flat.
Here are my latest. First time for all of them, helmet, box and a dress. TIA!!

First mold, used Choco-Pan, very delicious! (These were to be edible so no GP was used.)
Used a tiny, tiny paintbrush for eyes and eyebrows....aaaack! Still come off like Baby Magnum PI! ![]()
Tips on how to do the face, please!!

http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1969214
happy with the figure and watch but overall I don't like the bubble effect I tried to achieve. Should have just covered in green and did black bubbles but tried to do something different. She liked it anyway....
OK- I think I finally got the chance to catch up on everyone- please let me know if I accidentally forgot you. ![]()
I will be posting more soon, but this is one I did for a show in Austin and it took first place in it's category of buttercream only. All buttercream. No fondant. NO nothing. Just buttercream. Lol
http://cakecentral.com/gallery/1973276
I did this one for the sculpted cake category. It took first place, best in division and BEST IN SHOW!!! WOO HOO!
I had a lot of fun with this one.

Hi everyone! I am new to this forum, but am ready for some Constructive Criticism (at least I think I am!
) from some of the best ![]()
This is a cake that I made for a Bird Watcher who was about to retire. Everything is edible except the glasses and bird. The head and book are made out of rkt.

Thanks!
This is a cake that I did for a Baby Shower - the monkey and name are made from modeling chocolate. First time I ever made or worked with it, really liked it!

this is a cake that a friend seen on line (maybe CC) and she wanted one like it except smaller flowers. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, covering that high of a tier was a challenge ![]()
This cake was my nightmare.....
I ended up baking 4 cake layers cuz first 2 cakes wouldn't bake up to 2"! Then, in my tiredness, I decided "oh, just let them have all the cake, I'll just shave off the tiny bit of dome."
So then I had 1.5" cake layers, yep....wow,,,,,then after crumbcoated and done, my intuition was holy cow this is TOO freakin' tall of a cake!
And I hadn't added the toppers yet!!!
So I took off a layer! ![]()
You guessed it.
Sighhhhh....
Should post this in disaster section instead. Thank you for your critiques. (my first chocolate transfer.)

Righto this forum has been a bit slow lately - is everyone on holiday !!! Anyway my 2 latest. This one looks a bit boring but still time consuming could have done more but was short notice
http://cakecentral.com/gallery/2012747
This one took forever and next time I do a style like this will use either fruit cake or a dense cake. I forgot in the description that the bottom bit is a 10inch cake dummy - they wanted the wow but not all the cake that they would have got if it had all been real cake
So that and the topper I did ahead of time so had 3 different greys and so spent the day - yes the day
painting and redoing bits of it so it would all match not including the time taken to make the figurines ....I got to get faster but my work I feel is so uniquein my style it takes forever to make them - or am I just average and need to get faster and not so fussy !!! And to top it off I did not take all the photos I should have so a LOT of the detail is missing in the photos ![]()

Hi all! I am not ready to submit a cake yet, but after this week, I will sent you the link to the first cake I think I'm ready to hear about.
Looking forward to learning from all of you!!!
I would very much like a critique on my cakes. I'll put 3 of my most recent, but actually would appreciate comments on any of them that are in my photos. I am a hobby baker and basically learned most everything I know from observing at a bakery I worked for a couple of years ago. I got the bug to do my own and love it, but would love to improve. I've learned a ton here on CC so any help from anyone is appreciated!

(the soccer cake had no comments or favorites...and I actually thought I did pretty well on it. Your thoughts?)
Hiya - I looked at your cakes - have not had a chance to to through all of them. Its great that you have so many photos of most the cakes - it makes it easier for us to comment. The main thing is to take the photos without all the background - sometimes it hard when you have set the cake up at someones place I know. As for the soccer ball cake - to most of the cc viewers its one of many soccerball cakes and a common design/theme - you can't do much else with a soccer ball. In this forum we look at the technical side of things more than just the artistic. In fact a lot of the most popular cakes may not be techically great but have good photography or be a good design and is saved for inspiration - most of my faves are like that. I have one that is the simplest design and doe not have the flowers on top saved more than the 2 tier one I spent a week doing that I think is my best so far !!!

Thanks for your comments...I do appreciate them all...and I totally agree about the background. That's why I tend to crop so close. Usually I am in such a hurry to get the cake out, the photo is done quickly without much preparation. The leopard cake I did was one where I put a background up and it made a big difference. I will make a point to put get one up before I finish the next cake so I can take a decent photo. And thanks for the tip on my comments about the soccer ball cake...I thought that black fondant looked a bit untidy myself and now I know what to do to fix it!
the other thing you can do with the fondant is to steam it - I did not suggest that in this instance since they are on buttercream that would melt - but fondant on fondant is ok.
Hi all, I'm a fairly new caker, just trying to learn what I can from the internet and practicing as much as possible! Think I'm just about ready to get some construction criticism now (be gentle! lol) so would be grateful for any feedback you can give.
These are the last three cakes I have made and there are more photos of them within my photo gallery:-
