Thank you!

I'm hypercritical of my own cakes so I think I've recognized all of the flaws. LOL. Still, it's great to get constructive feedback from everyone. Thanks in advance. I picked the three that tested me the most.

Some cakes from Sunday...

Yellow and black:

I like this cake. I kept wanting to put yellow roses and/or daisies on it because I had them, but since that was the one thing that most people criticized on the baby shower cake, I decided to leave them off. I think it was a wise decision. Thank you CSMers for saving me from myself icon_wink.gif
It was for a girlfriend of mine who is a wedding planner. She see's A LOT of cakes, but when she saw this one, she cried. It was AWESOME!

Display cake for the bakery. Be kind to me on the icing. It's supposed to look a bit like Buddy's Cake from a Food Network Challenge. When I got to work last Wednesday, the whole cake was iced in royal and ready for me to decorate. I was mortified because it was supposed to be fondant AND the royal was a mess! I tried to fix a few tiers but it just wasn't working. So... I worked with it. My boss laughed. He knows I'm a perfectionist and it was KILLING me!

This is my first dummy - made it for the ICES convention. Shoes and tiara are gumpaste. Pearls and cake covering are all fondant. Hand painted the two tiers and the tiara. (airbrush was not working right, bought a NEW one at ICES!) Thanks for looking. (it got a lot of attention from the little girls at ICES!)

Hi! I would love to join your group, if you'll have me. I'm pretty new to decorating still. So be gentle, but honest please. I know I've got tons to learn still.

Here are a couple I'd especially like critiques on. But please feel free to critique anything in my gallery!!

This one I made just last week. I'm kind of embarrassed to put it here among all these gorgeous cakes, but how else will I learn? I know my frosting isn't smooth enough. I have a hard time with that.

This one was from Easter (obviously) and is my best cake ever, in my opinion. Still, not great. Please excuse the background. It didn't even cross my mind to tidy up icon_lol.gif
http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1345882

This was one where I had very little guidance. I think it came out well for my skill level, but could definitely be better!

Hi everyone, here is a cake I just did for my dad's 60th birthday - all the details are in the description so I won't repeat but I was really happy with how this one turned out and my dad loved it! Seeing the pictures I see flaws but no one at the party did so that was good icon_smile.gif

Holy cow!! I didn't realize that I had been bumped- I have a lot of catching up to on this page but I will get to it this week.
I got to be a demonstrator for the Austin DOS this past weekend!! It was AWESOME! icon_smile.gif But I had just come home from a week in N.C. and then had to drive 4 hours the next morning to be there and play. Exhausting, but worth every moment. Aine2 was also a demonstrator- I feel so lucky to have been a part of that with her. icon_smile.gif

For some reason, I didn't get notified of any new posts here......I will catch up today!

Here is a wedding cake I did this past weekend.......and yes, the cake is not centered on that board. I really did move it several times trying to get it right - I am not sure how I messed it up so badly. icon_redface.gif

On the other hand, the bride LOVED it. She said it looked even prettier than the original picture of the cake she gave me.

Here's a couple older cakes I'd like critique on. I wasn't able to change the boards on these because they were pre-made, pre-iced from a company we ordered from. All I did was the decoration.

http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1358557

This next one, I know I should have cleaned up the board from the airbrush overspray.
http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1358555

This one, I know I need work on my lettering and borders. I just wonder what you think of how I arranged the flowers and vines.

Hey all. Here is a cake I did today at work- gotta say that it was a really fun cake to do even though it was simple. I liked it because it was...unconventional for a baby shower. They actually named it the Bad Ass Baby Cake and the father, who drew the original, had it blown up in the baby's room. LOL- everyone has their own unique ways, right?
Thanks for looking

If everyone in this forum would just come comment on 10 or 20 pictures, we could get the uncommented caught up. I feel like I am fighting a losing battle. HELP! icon_cry.gif

I don't think we will ever be "caught up" - there are just so many loaded everyday. I wish there was a button that we could click on for those who really don't "need" a comment. (not wanting to get flamed here, I just know how I feel)
