Okay, so here are the cookies that I'd like critiques on. I really want to do more cookies in the future, but I know I need to improve on some things first.

This is basically all of the cookies I've done right now. Let me know if I'm on the right track or if I should stick to cakes. icon_biggrin.gif

A cake for a dental hygienist graduate. I had fun with this one, but wish I had taken a little more time with the CREST names. Otherwise, i was happy with it. Thanks for looking and your feedback!

Thanks to Trixyinaz for helping me get to this thread... I knew it existed! Im excited about being a part of CSG ! I dont often upload to CC because I seem to have a problem with a lot of my photo sizes & resizing. If you get a chance to view any of my uploaded photos ( I only have a few on here right now ) that would be great... I feel my work has improved since a lot of them but I love the CSG feedback! Thanks so much, I will post newly uploaded when I get them !

Hi Guys...sorry I've been MIA. I took a new job and needless to say, I'm BUSY!!!! and have little to no time to look at cakes. But this week I will try to get caught up as best I can.

I haven't been making a lot of cakes (see above paragraph), but I did manage to make 2 cakes last month. See, I haven't even had time to get on here to post so you can critique. I did manage to get them uploaded, but that's as far as I got. I hope you do understand.

Here is the first one - it looked WAY better in person...the camera picks up all the flaws you can't see in person icon_lol.gif

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1360492.html

And the second one:

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1377018.html

And, I'm losing my touch, I think. I am having such issues with my BC. I can't get them smooth anymore.

Welcome Sara. First off, this is a great group and if you want to improve your skills, everyone here will help you. Secondly, just post links to the photos you want us to critique. This way, we can just click right from here and go direclty to the cake you need critiqued. Otherwise, I'm afraid you might get passed over. And lastly, read the rules/guidelines on page 1 of this thread. It should answer any questions you have.

I have just finished reading the 5 pages of this thread, it took me a while to figure out how to find you all! I am really excited about joining this group.

Here is one of my cakes that I had an issue with....keping straight lines on the cake board. (and I now realize I need to do something besides foil on my cakeboards!!)

TIA

Welcome Cindy!! Below, I have posted the rule to the group!! Enjoy and I can't wait to see your 3 cakes!!

Hi and Welcome.

At this point, you should choose three cakes that'd you'd like us to critique and post the titles and/or links here. Then, as you post pics. of new cakes, make a post here letting us know you've posted so we can go and give you feedback.

You can just jump right in with critiquing other members' cakes as well.
When you post descriptions under your new pictures or comments on other members' cakes, please post that you are a "Critique Subgroup Member." This sort of explains why the comments are more in depth and specific and we think it helps other non-members see that we're asking for these comments and no one is just being rude or overly critical.
I hope I have explained this well enough. Ask more questions if you have them and please just jump right in!
Here are the rules/guidelines.

Standards we look at:
1.) Creativity (original design or clever adaptation of another idea) is interesting and pleasing. What might work better.

2.) Clean not cluttered or overdone, neat and skillful.

3.) Suitable degree of difficulty for skill level. Are you pushing yourself.

4.) Proper use of tips i.e. control, pressure and technique.

5.) Color choice and use, mixed well without streaking, compliments the design.

6.) Smooth coat without crumbs.

7.) Attention to details.

8.) Attention to cake board.

9.) Overall appearance.

Finally
*Remember to keep the board clear of casual chitchat.
*Keep the critique to the original ideas listed above and if you can not get to a cake don't panic, there are several of us now so don't feel stressed because we still get a good critique.
*Next, do not feel that you are not qualified to give a critique even if you have never tried the technique because when you comment not only the other person sees it from a different point of view but you do also.
*And finally, last but not least, we have a good group going with fantastic critiques, let us remember that other CCers will see our comments and maybe it will help them improve also!

Hey guys!! Here are 3 cakes that I've done recently:

On this briefcase; I messed up the handle and my fondant could have been smoother on the edges, but the recipient loved it

Okay, before you look at this next photo, just know, that I suck at BC!!

Hey all!

I know this off topic, but I just had to share something...

This morning I saw several critiques by SaraClassic one of which pointed how much I had improved over the past year and a half. Well, this sort of inspired a me to look at some of my old pictures and I just wanted to share a before and after with you guys.

This cake was made about the time I became a CSM:

http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1163419

This of course is the cake I made for the TD and the design is an improved version of the previous one:

http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1379588

So for those new to this group, take to heart our critiques and keep pushing yourself because who knows where you will be in couple of years.

Thanks for all your critiques! thumbs_up.gif
