I started reading this thread yesterday (only got to page 16) then came back on tonight and it's at 118!!!!!! Holy Cow. How am I ever going to catch up???

I checked into IL licensing for my cookies. The specifics are dictated by each County Health Dept, but the state does not allow cottage industry businesses, so no baking from your home kitchen. You would have to build a separate kitchen that is not used in the family cooking, and it would have to have Commercial equipment and appliances.<...>
The county health dept lady I talked to suggested finding a church or local business that would allow me to get a dual license and I could rent time/space from them. I am going to approach my church with this idea.
Just ideas for those of you out there. She also suggested places like Moose lodge or the Americal legion halls. They often have a commercial kitchen that is not used frequently.

Anyway I'll bet this explains why the health inspector only spent 15 mins at spencersmom's place...no sense in doing a thorough inspection if the business isn't (and cannot get) licensed; technically there's nothing to "shut down" cuz they can't prove she's selling any cakes (since he already told her to stop selling cakes and we all know it's ludicrous for anyone to prohibit you from selling something, including a cake, to a friend).

I'm like that too! My DH says my sense of smell is as good as any dogs (what a compliment eh???). Anyway it all started with my 1st pregnancy and has never gone away (the fat too )

Ok I just read all 120 pages this evening.
First if the OP has never decorated a cake, then she would know that a greasy microwave and whatever other grease spots are probably from the buttercream. I know I leave finger prints when I've been decorating.
Secondly let me in on some of that chocolate, tea, peach cobbler, and the Rock (gotta love that smile).
Okay now to get my 16 mo old to go to sleep. It's 3:40am and she's still wide awake....AHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Okay ladies - caught up this morning and if I don't get my house clean today then I will have the Health Dept over here and Child Services taking away my kids as well! So I am going to actually shut off my computer so I won't be tempted. Hopefully by the time I check back in later tonight I do not have another 50 pages to catch up on!!! I will be checking before dinner - so and recipes or ideas for dinner will be appreciated! LOL!
