This is the greatest site. Been lurking here since my first Wilton class last June. I am soooo hooked, and yes, my hubby thinks I am a cake dork. Any excuse to make and decorate a cake.

Retired civilian employee with the Navy, a CAD drafter/illustrator. Was selling on ebay, but I have been playing hooky lately (I wonder why). Hobbies include quilting and watercolor painting.

Have one son teaching in Beijing. Went to visit last year...didn't see one single cake while there..horrors! But I did find time to check back on CC at night.

Am also a member of the orange "Hungry" you see on TV. My thought...Its either be consumed by cakes(obsessive), or consuming cakes(fluffy). I make cakes on weekend, then send them off with hubby to his co-workers on Monday. They really like me!

I'm an Office Manager at a window and door construction complany. We work out of a split building, and the other half has recently been vacated. My co-workers tease that I should lease it, so I can bake and run the office all at the same time LOL icon_lol.gif .
At the moment I make cakes for my family and friends, which sometimes extends to my families friends.
I've only recently started decorating cakes, actually my facination grew even more after stumbling onto CC. There's just soo many amazing stuff you all do icon_eek.gif !!! I wish I had more time to practice, but for now I'm limited to baking and decorating in the evenings, and weekends.

I am a physician assistant, working in Women's Health. Before I found this job I was a SAHM mom for almost 4 years. Have a daughter, 6, and a son, 3. Also have worked as a secretary in a high school, elementary school, jewelry wholesale office, and headquarters for a women's clothing retailer. I definitely don't do decorating professionally but do love having fun with it when I have- or make- the time.

I'm a wife to a wonderful man and a stay at home mom of 3. 4, 3, and 10 months. I am busy with the kids most of the time between pre-school, drum lessons and dance class, that doesn't leave much time for cakes so I guess it's a good thing I only do them for family and friends. NOT a pro yet, but hope to get there. I've got a long way to go compared to most of you ladies.

I am LOOKING! for a special events coordinator position, or something in human resources, perferable at a hotel. Oh in AZ... so if you know anyone who wants to hire an creative hard workin girl PM me icon_smile.gif (okay, I am only partially serious...)

I bake after classes and spread out my filling, icing, and decorating days (start baking on Tuesday and amd done Sat night).

After graduation I will be getting "married" and moving in with my bf...so I guess in a few months he will be my DDP (dear domestic partner!)

Love this thread, so jealous of all of you who are getting ready to retire.

Congrats to a few of you who recently went back to work, or secured awesome jobs!

I bake cakes for fun. (don't get enough practice though). My goal this year is to make a better tasting cake . . . I'm happy with how they look, but not so much how they taste.

I used to be a Health Aide for the schools in our area. I weighed, measured, screened for vision/hearing problems and taught school aged children about making healthy decisions. We talked about the effects of tobacco, alcohol & drug abuse. We also talked about healthy eating habits and positive self body image. We implemented a "Bully free Zone" program in the schools. Oh, and we gave immunizations too!!

I gave all that up to teach Preschool full time! I'm having a blast AND I NEVER HAVE TO GROW UP!!! (bet you never would have guessed by looking at my Avatar that I'm a preschool teacher)!!?? little scary isn't it?

I manage a grocery store bakery full time. That's a daily lesson in maintaining your sanity. Unfortenately we don't decorate cake, and instead get the flash frozen cardboard flavoured "cakes".
I also do part time childcare for a family with a little girl. She makes me smile everytime i'm with her.

You just made my day. I had a long evening at work last night and drove home in that horrible snow storm to make it home at 1:30 in the morning. And I have to say...it was worth it. I am always grateful for my job and the families that I have met.

And best wishes on your pregnancy!
