I am disabled, MS.  I have a wonderful little boy who is now 9 and is also a special needs child.  He is autistic but is amazing and very smart.  I used to work as a Medical Assist and I am also a Special Needs Preschool Teacher/Admin. Now I just do what I can and the occasional cake.

Hi, I work full time as a Community Learning Officer, working in local Government.  I have 4 grown up children and 3 grandchildren.  I am a hobby baker, with plenty of family and friends always needing cake!  I began learning sugar craft a couple of years ago, in the hope of making wedding cakes for my children if and when they got married.  1 did the deed this Feb and another one does it on July 4th.

I bake and decorate in the evenings mostly (often into the early hours as I get so absorbed!).  Literally just took a chocolate cake out of the oven ready for my great nephews 18th birthday - so the house smells lovely at the moment!

AHi, I am a wife, mom of 2 (my boy Ruvan is 4 years and my little girl Jaylee is 19 months), work full time at my hubby's computer business (working in the accounts department). I bake cakes mostly for family and friends (my husband calls it my "charity job") but I'm doing the baking and decorating at night only after my 2 kids is in bed at 20h00 (South African time). So yes, also long days, late nights and morning hours for me but I love it. It's theraputic for our busy and "fast" life.

AI. Am a housewife and mother of three 5,4and a one and a half weeks old , before children I was mainly in hospitality the main one was a cook at a restaurant . I have had lessons in cake decorating for a while, but didn't feel I achieved much so want to go to anther class Wilton s maybe but in Australia Wilton classes are really expensive and mainly in the city, I mainly bake for family and friends but having very little time I don't get much practice , I do want to start a business as I love doing it. But I have recently started to write a book as one of my goals is to be published before I turn fifty with only turning 30 in a couple of months I have a while !!! But like to at least try and get somewhere. I have recently liked decorating cupcakes as they are very "in" at the moment and I am always heating the oven up and baking. But with school and kinda runs and a newborn baking has declined dramatically! When I am making a cake I usually make the cake a couple of days before and decorate one or two nights before the day tweaks on the day and anything that needs time a week or so in Advance. .

I am in the process of closing my custom drapery workroom, and will be opening a bakery this fall.  My husband and I own a restaurant, and the bakery will be across the street.  I currently do all the baking and pastry work for the restaurant.  Just a little bit burnt out on sewing, and looking for a change. :)

AI took the first Wilton course at Michaels, and the second two at Joann.

The first one was given by a poor instructor, in a too crowded room. She did nothing more than read from the book, which I could have figured out myself. The other classes, I had a more professional and experienced instructor who really went above and beyond, and there was only two of us in the class.

Personally I found a lot of what they were teaching was outdated, or at least not in line with the kinds of techniques I prefer to use.

I've been a hospital Pharmacy Technician for 20 years.  I have always been a gourmet baker and over the past 2 years I have been teaching myself cake decorating.  I love it!  I bake gourmet cupcakes and cakes for family and coworkers.  With the extra money I make I am able to purchase more decorating and baking supplies.  I can see this being a great part time job and it's something I enjoy doing.

I'm a SAHM but my kids are in school, and I've been bored to death lately but finding a job after so long is proving to be tough. Baking has been something that fills my time, as well as cooking. Lately I realized that I could get more into the decorating side of baking .. my baking was always just cookies, banana bread, pumpkin rolls, cakes and frosting them with knives or spatulas lol not always that pretty but tasty!

This is my real job.  I'm a Pastry Chef at a very popular restaurant.  Cakes are just part of what I do there.  I manage the pastry department, write menus, make all the ice creams and sorbets (about 10 flavors at any one time-I gotta cut that down :) ), and about half the desserts on the menu.  My assistant handles the rest of the menu and the doughs, crackers, etc.

After doing this 15 years, I'm a little burnt on the whole restaurant thing.  I'm hoping to get going on my own for just cakes and wedding favors sometime down the line.

For 14 more days I am in the Navy. That day I start baking and pastry school. Baking and building cake stands will then be my primary source of income in addition to a very small monthly retirement check. The cake stand side of my business seems to be taking off and will probably be my main focus. It's going to be a lot on my plate....

AI'm a family law attorney. I have my own practice, so I accept cake orders around my court case load. To me, cake decorating is a stress reliever and an outlet which is a far cry from my day job. In order to keep it fun, I really only accept cake orders from family and friends and rarely charge.
