I have been a real estate agent for about 2 years. I really want to decorate cakes full time though. I would just be happy in a grocery store. I am only 21 so hopefully I still have time to change my career... even though I really do love real estate. I just think I would enjoy making cakes more.

General Manager for a printing company. The owner and his wife are missionaries and spend most of the time out of the country, so I pretty much run the business for them.

I've been an ultrasound tecnician for 15 years. Although I love my job and am challenged every day, I love decorating cakes a lot more. I've been baking since I was 13, officially decorating since 2 years ago.

I'm a court reporter and am sitting in the courtroom right now. We're doing something that doesn't require my services at the moment and I thought I'd check the site and see what was going on. It's a sickness! I'm in the middle of a homicide by child abuse case. I do all kinds - criminal, civil, and family court.

I love caking and hope to expand on it when I retire in 7 years. thumbs_up.gif

I'm a theoretical linguist working on problems of language acquisition in deaf children. I'm learning Mexican Sign Language right now, which is almost as addictive as cake decorating. Right now I hold the post of "Family Baker", but when I retire in about 3 years, I want to devote more time to decorating. I finally decided to get serious about it at the end of last year and fortunately ran into CC on Google. I've hardly logged off since. I won't ever stop my sessions with deaf children. I basically help them to acquire Spanish through reading and writing. Spanish and not English because I live in Mexico City. Reading and writing - well, that's a long story (pm me at [email protected] if you're interested). But even so, my daughter, a friend of hers and I are thinking seriously about starting a party catering business in Cancún (they live there and I'm counting the days till I can too) complete with a locale for the parties. Oh, yeah, I also sing with a symphony chorale - another really serious hobby.

I am the caterer for a church and I run my cake business from home. Any catering that is to be done at the church is done by me, unless I am unavailable, or I get paid to over see what is being done in my kitchen there.

Great thread! I'm an accountant during the day and a baker during the night icon_smile.gif LOL...baking is my hobby, but I'm still a begginer.
I always made my kid's b-day cakes when they were growing up, but they were always from a cake mix and frosting was from a grocery store can, so you can imagine the excitement I had the first time I made a cake from scratch icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

I was so happy when I found this site and when I read the warning message on the front page I thought...ahhhhh, how silly! how can a website be addictive!!.....LOL, LOL icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Wow! Thats all I have to say. What a diverse group. I am a retired domestic goddess. Making my cookies seems to keep me out of trouble some days. I'd love a part-time job but with the economy the way it is there isn't much hiring going on where I am. I am just so very impressed with all of you.

Yeah, I've been doing this for 9 years now. sigh. I hate it when people ask me "what do you do?" or "what is your occupation?" Ditto! I love what I do as well. I work for the Department of Defense as a Contract Specialist on the t-45 Trainer Jet Program. I LOVE supporting our military. I work a CWS schedule.. Meaning 9 hour days and every other Friday off.. So I try to schedule cakes that fall on my 3 day weekends.

I am also double majoring with my MBA and a Masters in International Business... which keeps me equally as busy as my work does!

I don't have any kids, but I do have a really loud and annoying (but I love him to pieces) Bangel Cat named Simba. He's a wild one!

I worked on various small projects, but mostly I worked on the Blended Wing-Body (BWB) - a flying delta wing, proposed as an airliner, freighter, tanker, bomber. We considered using a T45 cockpit in an x-plane demonstrator, but it ended up unmanned.
(I miss being 'in the know' of all things aircraft)
