mkolmar so glad to hear that the demo went well. I was sure it would.

Busy here....just like all of you ladies. The weather is cold here, even for this time of year. I am not a big fan of cold weather.

We had chili last night for dinner.
Monday night was leftovers.

Tonight will be stuffed green peppers. Don't know what I will make to go with them yet.

I hope all are well.

Tonight was Italian breaded chicken, green beans, mac and cheese, tomato-mozzarella-cucumber salad, and over cooked rolls (oops)

Tomorrow is my long day working. I'm beginning to really hate Thursdays. I feel absolutely awful on Fridays after working so long. It usually takes me 2 days to recover. Seriously thinking of quitting the YMCA.

Where is everybody? icon_cry.gif I miss you all! I will clean off this dusty, dusty table.....although if I leave the cobwebs it will be very festive for Halloween. icon_wink.gif

Tonight is beggers night here. Here where we live you wouldn't want to trick or treat on a Friday or Saturday night, so they set the night to a different day. They are afraid of the "tricks" on a weekend!? Where I grew up this was never done. Just went on the 31st, what ever day it was.

We are sick at our house so no trick or treating for us. We didn't pass out candy....as we would be passing out our germs. Both babies are sick and DH and I are both in the first couple of days of it.
I bought candy for the kids and we had pizza for dinner. I tried to make it special....at least a little.
The only good thing is that now there won't be a bunch of candy in this house calling my name!

Last night was roast pork with mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet peas and cottage cheese.

I hope you all check in soon!

Hi everyone. Ohara, thanks for cleaning off the table for us. Looks spiffy. Hope you are all on the mend.

Tonight was tomato soup and grilled cheese plus chicken salad sandwiches and carrot/apple slaw.
Yesterday was cheese pizza and chicken strips.
Tuesday was savory roast turkey, salad with feta-sundried tomato-basil cheese, roasted red skinned potatoes, seasoned green beans and buttered yeast rolls.

The last few days my kids have been sick so I'm not sure about trick or treating here for us. That;s why the last 2 nights have been easy meals.

My job is still going well and I've been picking up a few more hours here and there. We are getting our main bathroom remodeled right now. OH VEY! Walls are knocked down and it's gutted. The tub should be getting put in tomorrow. Had no choice as it was literally falling apart and has been for a while.

Tonight it is creamy broccoli soup with crusty bread.
Last night was No-meat loaf and rice with Moroccan spiced tomato sauce.

In the twelve years that we have lived in CO, we have never had a single trick-or-treater. I guess they go where they will get the most candy for the effort. Can't say I blame them.

Hello everyone.

Tonight was breaded chicken that I pan fried than baked over spicy Cajun rice. I took a very large round cutter and filled it with rice and plated that first, topped it with the chicken that was cut on a bias and then sprinkled on some fresh basil cut on a chiffonade. Sounds fancy but in other words...it was chicken and rice tonight. icon_lol.gif

Yesterday was meat and cheese tortellini with a homemade marinara sauce (I didn't make it, one of DH's clients family is from Italy and he makes the sauce, it's good), with a salad topped with dried cranberries, toasted pecans and feta-spinach-basil cheese crumbles.
The kids didn't eat this but opted instead for waffles. icon_lol.gif

My kids are still a little weak from being sick but are doing much better.

I talked to the Chef at work about how I can improve on my culinary skills. He told me all I'm lacking is confidence. *really, I do need to up my game and don't know how because of lack of funds and my area you can't really learn in anymore* That wasn't the answer I was looking for, but he's right I guess there too.

I normally only get 6 trick or treaters if I'm lucky. I made up 12 bags though just in case this year. With in 15 minutes the 12 bags were gone and a kid was knocking on the door. DOH! I had to go and run and grab some candy from the kids school parties on the counter to give the little guy. I then turned my porch light off....I feel bad about that. For once I didn't have enough. So mightydragon don't feel so bad about having no little ghouls and gobblins at your door, you could have ran out.(J/K)

Hope you are all doing fabulous!

Hi Everyone.

Tonight was:
veggie burger (no bun) with homemade ketchup, pickle, mustard
sweet potato baked fries
oven roasted broccoli
green/mint tea

I miss you all on here... just been really busy with cake orders. The recent wedding cake I posted took up an entire week of preparation. My poor husband took 4 days off (through Halloween) and every night I was doing the cake. He's a good man. He helped me deliver it Friday, since the thing was HUGE. I also had a large 3-D haunted house due the next day. Note to self: ONE cake per weekend. icon_wink.gif

MKolmar~ good luck and believe in yourself... You can do it, you are awesome!

MKolmar-"Have no fear" That is what Julia Childs said about cooking. I have no doubt that you are a fabulous cook. Your chicken and rice sounds not only delicious, but beautiful as well. Good luck

kellertur-your cake is gorgous!

I cooked like a fiend this weekend so I could start to restock my frozen dinners. So, I have lot's to choose from, but I think we will have the baked pasta with goat cheese, artichokes and spinach. Yum!

Hi everyone!
Lita - Welcome to the table.

Tonight was NY strip stakes, Italian marinated chicken breast, red skinned seasoned and roasted potatoes, green beans sauted in butter with kosher salt, garlic and cracked black pepper, yeast rolls, peaches, multi-grain pasta (for one of my daughters who's picky).

Yesterday was the delightful meal of cereal. icon_lol.gif

I have to start doing pie orders for work soon as well as dessert orders for my DH's business. I'll be sick of baking again by January.

kellertur great job on the cake. It's good to be busy with cakes! Glad to see you back at the table.

mightydragon663 good for you for restocking your freezer. I have been reading lots and lots of crock pot recipes. I am trying a new one tonight!

mkolmar your chicken and rice sounded very yummy. I love your detail icon_wink.gif How are the kids feeling? It's hard to believe it's time for the holidays.

Monday was ham, homemade macaroni and cheese, green beans, cottage cheese and corn bread.

Tonight we are having orange chicken....new recipe. I will let you know how it turns out.

Hi Lita. Welcome to the table.
So, last night was posole. It was so good, it brought a tear to my eye.....okay, maybe it was the chilies that made my eyes water. icon_lol.gif I do love food that bites back. Tonight it is Egyptian chickpea soup. It doesn't bite, but it does taste good. icon_smile.gif

Let's just say that it was a good thing that I had a plan B! I was not what I was expecting, neither my husband or I liked it. It wasn't spit it out bad....just not good. Live and learn! Here's hoping that the next new recipe that I have planned works out better.

Tonight is going to be hamburgers and oven baked potato wedges.
I am trying to use up some stuff in the freezer so I can fit a couple of turkeys in it. Our grocery is already running turkey's for $0.27 a pound. I am hoping that they get even cheaper...but DH thinks I'm crazy and should buy now.

mightydragon663 sounds like you eat a wide variety of foods. I had to look posole up in the internet. Looked yummy!

Ohara- I hate it when new recipes don't turn out. Good thing you had a plan B.

I love chickpeas so tell me how the soup is Mighydragon.

I think I may have made a mistake. I know in my heart I did the right thing but I'm just second guessing myself now. I love where I work and have creative freedom. I work part time right now, which is all I'm able to do at the moment. That is at least till next year when the youngest starts school and goes all day. I received a call today about a job and I turned down the opportunity to come interview. My family thinks I'm nuts. I've known about this job for over 2 months before it was even listed. Was given a heads up by the person leaving (I don't know her but she has heard of me) Anyways, someone tried calling me a few times yesterday while I was at work. My MIL said I would call them back tomorrow. Well, I called them back. They want to meet with me and have me interview since they've heard about me the last few weeks from different chefs. The job starts at $15 an hour (This is more than I make) and would be full time with benefits - no nights no weekends. The hours are from 4:30 AM to 1 PM. The position was for the head pastry chef at a local hospital. I never applied for this job so I was wondering why they were calling me. My family said to take it as a compliment.
I know I wouldn't have the creative freedom there as I do at my job ( no where near the freedom).
My goal is to advance in the field and teach culinary someday. (I have a knack for going into jobs that are long hours and don't pay well icon_lol.gif )
I was told to come in next year to the hospital and then they will see what they can do, in other words they will try to keep the door open for me. I know right now my youngest needs me more since he's in school 1/2 days. I work 2 - 3 days a week and feel guilty about it sometimes.
I know I did the right thing but I still can't help but kick myself. My family says I'm crazy.
Anyways, sorry for posting that but I feel better after writing it.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome icon_smile.gif . Ohara...I'm sorry to hear that your recipe didn't come out the way you expected. We learn from our mistakes and I'm sure your dog (if you have one) was a happy camper. Monday's dinner sounds like it was a tasty morsel icon_smile.gif . I'm sure your next meal will come out perfect.

Mkolmar....I agree with mightydragon. You shouldn't feel like kicking yourself. You listened to your instincts and heart in making your decision. Intuition is a very powerful ally to have.

Mightydragon...I've heard of posole but I've never had it. It soundsinteresting. I may have to give it a try.

mkolmar....if you know that you made the right decision, ignore all the other opinions. If you have any doubt....call and at least talk to them about the job. You know what you and your family can handle right now. Don't second guess yourself. Your really good at what you do. Great jobs are in your future whether it's now or in a time.

Thanks for the "condolences" on the orange chicken. I have been married for over 25 years...and us not eating what I cooked has maybe happened 3 or 4 times.....so my averages are still pretty good icon_wink.gif

Going to try another new one sometime this week....I hope. You know how life never goes as planned.

Last night was chicken and/or steak fajitas, refried beans, and all the fixens. Every one enjoyed the fajitas a lot.

No plan for tonight yet. Older daughter called and said that she wants come over this afternoon....which usually means can we come for dinner.
Which is fine....except that I have to have a plan...and I don't.

I hope you are all well.

I love fajitas!! Well....I haven't met a food that I don't like icon_wink.gif . You are soooo right when you said that life never goes as planned...either from internal or EXTERNAL factors.

For me...my dinner last night was sauteed tilapia with spinach sauteed in olive oil with a pat of butter. I've been baking a lot lately and doing a lot of taste testing so I had to lighten things up a little.

Y'all have a great day icon_smile.gif

(one kid opted for a peanut butter sandwich icon_rolleyes.gif ).

I'm getting ready to go to the gym. I hope to get in at least 6 miles on the elliptical, but I'm so tired I highly doubt it. I need to get a little more fit and trim. Alright, my body needs serious work. icon_lol.gif I enjoy food to much.

A little about me....I've been through Hell in my life. I am a woman who breaks molds. Most of my life I have been in a battle against my family, my community, and my culture. It's amazing how people want to tell other people who to be, how to live, and what to want out of life. I believe that as long as a person isn't hurting anyone...they can do or be anything they want....the sky is the limit.

I am single and not by choice. I have not had much luck in love primarily due to the female friends I kept (they were sabotaging my relationships and the men chose to believe the lies that my jealous friends were saying about me instead of giving me a chance to defend myself). Men can really be stupid. The few men that I have loved were also, unbeknownst to me, sleeping with several of my friends (who all wanted to BE me). One stole who I thought was the love of my life. I have since learned he was just a bullfrog icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif . It took me a while to catch on to what was going on but I eventually did....which I always do.

I do not have any children primarily because I refuse to bring a child into a bad or unhealthy situation and all of my relationships fit into one or the other category.

I am a foodie who loves to cook and bake. Most of my cooking is off the cuff but I'll try any type of recipe. I am learning more about cake decorating since joining the CC community and I can definately say that I am learning A LOT. I also like to read and work out....primarily run or speed walk (even though I think aerobics classes are fun, too).

I am a registered nurse who worked in peds, maternity, and adult med-surg and telemetry. I loved being a practicing nurse but the ego is a very fragile thing (not mine...my coworker's). More fragile than our patient's health. I loved being a nurse....taking care of people and the family unit but I know that my destiny doesn't rest in nursing. Hmmmm.....maybe it it will be in the culinary arts. Only time will tell. I'm in period of transition.

Right now I am just chillin', going to Toastmaster's, and working a retail job for the holiday season at William-Sonoma. Let me tell you...I'm floating on cloud nine in that place....all the fun gadgets and things icon_biggrin.gif

There you go...my CC friends a brief autobiography. I plan to one day write a complete autobiography on my life because I think that it could be an inspiration, people can learn from some of my experiences, and a testament to the human spirit. Writing can be very cathartic, also.

I have heard so many wonderful things about the wii fit. A lot of people I know who have it, just love it. I'm too cheap to get one. I put my bike on a trainer for the winter and it is all I can do to make myself go down and use it. B-o-r-i-n-g! But since I have the fat-bottom genes...jeans? both actually, it motivates me to get after it. I am also too cheap to buy new clothes becaue I outgrew my old ones. icon_lol.gif

Lots of cooking again this weekend. icon_biggrin.gif My favorite thing to do next to eating. Made ham, mashed potatoes and tomato gravy on Sunday, so that means I had to make the obligatory pot of beans the next day. Last night was braised pork loin with red wine gravy, sweet potato and panzanella salad.

Thanks Lita. I also would enjoy working at William Sonoma. I was just in there the other night...just looking though. Thanks for the bio.

Mightydragon I also was to cheap to buy a wii fit....that's why my son bought it for me. I actually told him it was to much and he had to take it back. Not very nice of me....but I am the mom. He and his dad had already talked about the cost and DH gave him the ok... soooooo I have a wii fit. It's new so I have only done it twice now. We'll see how it goes. I feel the same about my tread mill as you do about your winterized bike.... boring!

Mmmmmmm, stuffed peppers. That's funny, I had lunch with MIL #2 on Tuesday, and she had made stuffed peppers for us. Boy, were they good. I might need to make those this weekend icon_biggrin.gif Sometimes, I forget how much I enjoy certain foods just because I haven't eaten them in a long time.

Last night was Tofu curry and brown rice. I think I like mixing my own curry better. I used a spice mix I picked up from the Indian market, and I just don't care for it very much. icon_sad.gif Oh well, I guess you'll never know if you like something if you never taste it. Right?

So ladies, what is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?
