Ohhhh, I'm OK, I'm used to the foot thing. One of my goals in the next few years is to buy an elliptical trainer, I think it's the perfect machine for me.

Merissa, I have no doubt your cake was delicious! So sorry about your computer problems, isn't that frustrating? Computer problems and car problems send me over the edge.

Karen, as always, I'm impressed my the amount of walking you do, my sore feet aside. That amount of walking would be a "feat" for anyone! Good for you!

I'm trying to gear up and decide what to wear for my parents' 50th anniversary party in San Antonio next month. It will be a casual affair, but I need to dress nicely. It will be held outside (if no rain) at the lake house of one of my sisters...it's beautiful, right on the water, with many decks on different levels. We're having it catered and there will be lots of outside seating with linen tablecloths...you get the idea. I don't feel comfortable in anything sleeveless because I'm self-conscious about my fat arms. I'll figure something out. Did I mention I have 2 sisters and the "big" one is a size 6?

Susan, sorry about your feet. I couldn't imagine living with a constan discomfort with something as important as feet. I hope your new podiatrist can really help.
Totally missed that part about the waiter....you never know younger men are into older women all the time. Maybe his cake won't turn out like yours, since they never do, and you'll need to give him lessons on baking.
I'm with you on the home gym. In my head it would make a ton of difference. I love, love, love, love the elliptical machine....my absolute favorite!

Sonia I leave on the 18th. I'm so excited, I've never been anywhere that counts!

Hope everyone had a good weekend...better than mine, drive-in movies and a night away with dh makes for some bad food choices.

I've had a pretty good weekend with my food choices. I'm quite pleased.

You may remember me saying that 2 of my sons have dyslexia and I have one booked in for a course which will cure it??? Well, today the course started. He went for an official test yesterday to make sure they would be able to fix his problem before he started (and we wasted our money!) and we can't believe what we've discovered - - - Kalan is not only colourblind, but he sees EVERYTHING double, triple, or quadruple!!!! He has always been like it, so thought it was normal, and has never told us! I'm just astounded that he's spent his whole 7 years (nearly) looking at 2 or 3 of me!! No wonder he walks into things, trips over things, and doesn't have any coordination! He will spend the next 2 weeks at this course, and hopefully should then be cured!

oh my gosh! The poor thing! I am sure you are thankful you have discovered these deficits. i can't believe it only should take 2 weeks!?!? wow. We'll be thinking of him!

Well I still have a computer. My DH moved our old monitor (it's gi-mongous!) up here. So I am not without a little connection to the outside world! It is taking up 1/2 the counter space! Oh well. I am still going to try and limit my computer use though.

I had a horrible eating weekend. I guess I didnt eat terrible foods, but i just felt like eating all weekend. too much food.
I just made a small cake for DH birthday (for us). I am glad I did, because I probably would have kept eating and eating and eating.

I sure hope he is cured, Sonia! I've never heard anything like that! Do they have an eye doctor on the premises where he will take the course? Sure sounds like something he needs an eye doctor for. I just cannot imagine what he must be going through.

Casey, I am sure you are excited about your trip. I hear there are tons of things to do there.

We are planning a trip to Washington State in October to visit DD at Widby Island. I can't believe the prices and it seems like every day they go up. We were looking yesterday and got a price under $700 for both of us. When we went back into the website just a couple hourslater the price had gone up already! We have to book and pay for the trip soon or it will be over $1000! icon_eek.gif

Well, just wanted to check in this morning. Everyone have a great day!

Glad to hear you're still with us, Merissa.

Dyslexia is actually a problem with one eye not being able to focus properly, so when the 2 eyes both send a message to the brain, and they are different, the image is distorted. That's why letters look upside down, back-to-front, and like they're jumping around on the page! In this programme the good eye is covered, and they do lots of work with the bad one, strengthening the muscles, and regaining focusing skills. No eye doctor needed! When you go to an optometrist, he gets you to cover one eye and read the chart, then swap eyes and read it again. He doesn't get you to read it with both eyes, and that's where the problem is with dyslexics, so optometrists don't pick it up. Kalan told me tonight that he hasn't seen 4 of anything today, so improvement already! Yippee!!! Sorry for my rambling, but I'm hugely excited!

Did you get your trip booked, Karen?? Isn't it amazing how the prices can change so quickly on the internet??

Casey, the 18th isn't far away - you'd be in countdown mode, wouldn't you??!!!

Morning Ladies,

What a rainy, gloomy weekend we had. To make myself feel better I baked, cooked and ate. It may have been raining outside, but my house smelled like apples, cinnamon and sunshine.

Susan, the 50th anniversary party sounds like fun. I just love San Antonio.

Casey, have a home gym makes exercising so much convenient. For me it just takes too much effort to drive to a gym, work out, and then drive home. I always came up with excuses not to go.

Oh, Sonia, your poor little boy. I had uncorrected vision as a child also. I just didnât know you were supposed to see leaves on the trees or stars in the sky. I remember walking out of the doctorâs office with my first pair of glasses and being amazed at the world around me.

Good morning everyone! I hope everyones weekend went well! Is everyone ready to get back to "work"?
I have discovered that I don't know the first thing about eating healthy. I have also learned that I have a hard time with food. I always thought it was just the smoking. Soooo now I need to fix the eating issues.
BUT! I weighed myself last Thursday at my sisters office and discovered I lost maybe a pound. I'll take it!
Do y'all also exercise o the weekends or just during the week when everyone is away and not all in your space?
I look forward to helping everyone and helping myself!

Challenge for the week:
Try ONE veggie/ fruit you've never tried.
DRINK lots o water!

I know we can do it!

Hi everyone, sorry I have been MIA!! I have been soo busy and the time that I had on the computer I used to track my nutrition and fitness on SP.

Welcome to new members.

Sonia I am so glad that you are now getting your ds problem worked out. I am so glad for you and will be thinking about you.

Susan I am feeling for ya!! Soooo glad my heel spur no longer hurts.

I am glad that i have all I need at home to work out. I know that I would never get to the gym unless I went on the way home, and I know that would never happen because I always have things to do after work.

OK I missed weigh in day (at least missed loggin it in here) I lost .8 pounds so down to 212.2. Not a lot but will take it. I have been uping my work outs and have been strength training at least 2 time a week, which is 2 times more than before!!!

I had quite a scare (from across the miles) this weekend. I have a nephew turned 22 this weekend. Well he and his friends went out to celebrate and he decided that he wanted to get out of the truck he was riding in while it was moving. Luckily they were still in a parking lot and going slow but he still landed on his back and banged his head. He ended up in the hospital and had a bit of bleeding on his brain. He was released from the hospital yesterday and is home now. They live in MN and I am here in AZ so I got all of my information from my sister via text when she was not in his room with him. quite a tense Saturday, that was the day they found the bleeding.

Anyway that is my story and I will try my best not to be away for that long unless I am traveling!!!!

Diana, thanks for the challange, I will have to try a new fruit today.

I tend to work out on Saturday morning because I get up before anyone else in the house so I am still alone. I just changed my strength training to Tues, Thurs and Sun so we will see if I can do it on Sunday, that typicallyl is my total day off from any kind of work outs.

OK now I am done!!!

Sorry I hadn't check in yet today, I have been busy.
I have eaten ok today and dinner we are just going to do sammiches (sorry my kids have rubbed off on my vocab)...
I didn't work out today but I don't even feel bad b/c I spent 5 hours (not exaggerating) sorted coupons!!!! I collect coupons from my church and dh brings them home for work and stuff and I cut and sort them and mail them to soldiers and there families over seas (Japan and Germany) so I was doing my 'charity' work today. SO my back and legs are killing me from sitting on the floor BUT I got alot done so WAHOO! toooo bad I still have a whole grocery bag FULLL to the rim of ones I still need to cut and sort! sigh.... I have 3 boxes ready to mail on the plus side though...

We took the kids to the zoo for 4 hours on Saturday so I got alot of walking in for me so that was good but ate horribly over the weekend between the zoo and my cousins confirmation.

Lets start our week out right DIE FAT CELLS DIE!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! I have to say, we are SUCH an eclectic, interesting, fabulous group of women! I read the posts to catch up from Sunday and it's like a novel. Good for us!

Sonia, I'm so glad your DS's eye problems were discovered when he's still a child. Can you imagine trying to negotiate adult life and not knowing why you have such challenges? He's lucky to have a mom so on top of things!

Michelle...ahh, young ones, whatta ya gonna do? I worked in children's hospitals for many years and it was usually the BOYS who came in for stuff like what happened to your nephew. Seems like it doesn't matter that they chronologically age, they're still BOYS!!

Diana, that's GREAT you lost a pound! I'm the "pound" girl, I know how that feels. I always lose "just" a pound, but guess what? Now I've lost 24 of those pounds, practically one at a time. It's worth it!

Carol...it's funny, I knew it rained over the weekend in NO because my friend who lives on Lowerline sent me an email that she couldn't paint her bathroom because it was too rainy and humid. We really do live in a small world...

Karen, you're so lucky to be going to the Seattle area, I love that part of the country. One of my favorite things to do there is to go to Pike's Market and just hang out.

Connie, thank you for sending the coupons to the soldiers. I'm always amazed at how little money they really do make and you're making a difference for families.

OK, today's my No Cheat Tuesday. Dare I say it? Because I weigh in everyday, I'm noticing for the first time, I've lost more than a pound this week. Can it last til tomorrow when I officially record? Tune in then!!

Morning all,

No, I haven't booked my trip yet. Unfortunately we live practically pay to pay and we have to save up to do it, so I guess that the prices will just have to increase for us. DD is going to loan us some money so that we can pay the trip up front and then pay it back to her. Too bad it is not like a cruise where you can make a down payment and then make payments over time. That would make it so much easier. We are definately going to make Pike's Market a stop on our trip at some point.

Glad to hear that everybody is doing so well.

Connie, I didn't even know that the soldiers could use the coupon overseas. It is a great thing your're doing.

Susan, keep up the good work. You are an inspiration.

Flavurdun, thanks for the good word. It is really nice to hear from others sometimes.

Diana, congrats on the pound loss. It is always better to lose slowly.

Glad the nephew is ok, Michelle.

Well, I'd probably better go so I can get ready to start work. Hubby should be at his work any time now and e-mailing me

Yes, they even can take expired coupons up to 6 months old... You can go to this website and 'adopt' a base. http://www.ocpnet.org/
Helping out soldiers families is VERY important to me coming from a family w/ alot of military in it, but it really hit home when my brother was sent over to Iraq. He's been home for awhile now (THANK YOU GOD) but I still try to help out. Since I can't help financially (heck mailing hte $9 box is hard enough sometimes) I figured this was the least I Could do...

Anyway, I did work out this am not the full workout BUT I still did it. I wasn't even in the mood but since I skipped yesterday I felt I needed to do SOME or else I could just start the slippery slope of quitting SOOO I worked out a little this am.

I hope ya'll are being more focused than I am and lets get movin!

Well, I certainly cannot believe THIS...I lost 2 pounds this week! Woo Hoo! I haven't lost more than 1 pound a week for months, I'm very encouraged. And I hit a little milestone with this loss, I breezed right by 25 pounds lost and am now at 26.5 pounds lost! I was dreaming about...."oh please, oh please, let me hit the 25 pound mark..."

Welcome to your No Cheat Wednesday, I hope it's a great day for everyone. I'm going out to dinner tonight to a place that has the best bruschetta, sort of like French bread pizza. You can order it with a million different toppings...of course, I can choose to order a salad if I want to. I brought extra bananas to snack on this afternoon, so hopefully I won't be too tempted.

Great news Susan! You are an example to us all!!!

Connie, I just had a look at that website, and read quite a bit of it. Had never heard of it before....good for you!!

Well, I've eaten pretty well this week, BUT am not expecting a loss tomorrow, because I haven't exercised. I've had a 1 hour appointment with Kalan each day for his dyslexia, then we come home and do up to 3 hours' homework (and I have to sit beside him and supervise the whole time!) and 20 sets of eye exercises a day. So by the time I've done the normal cleaning, washing, preparing meals and generally looking after the family, I've got no spare time! The great news is we have seen improvements every day so far! At the end of day 1, he told me he hadn't seen 4 of anything all day!

Diane, I'm also buying groceries tomorrow, so will see what I can find to try that's new!

I'll tune in tomorrow!

Morning, all!

Hope everybody is geared up for a good day.

Just checking in before work because I won't be able to during work. I cannot believe all of the work that is sitting here waiting for me.

Already this day is showing it is going to be "one of those days." It is "that time of the month" and my entire lower body aches, not good when you have to walk almost three miles just to get to work. Then I got here and spilled my drink on my desk, calendar, and keyboard and also my asprin. Some of which I am still finding on the floor. icon_sad.gif Well, I'll muddle through as I always do, I guess.

Susan, it is great you just breezed past that 25 lb mark. Good for you and keep up the good work! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

Sonia, so glad that the exercises are working for your son. I would say that your exercise time is going to a good cause. Just keep moving as much as you can.

Connie, it is a great thing you are doing to give to the troops.

Dianna, I have not been able to get any new fruits to try. I probably won't be going shopping until Saturday, and then I will see if I can find a new fruit. I have been drinking my water, though.

Merissa, good luck on your no cheat day. Eat a snack before venturing into the grocery store.

Have a great day, all.

Good morning all

I really need to get back into the thick of things on this thread. I have to admit that I have spent a good portion of my time on SP getting into the teams, challenges and tracking all of my information. I am so sorry that I have been neglecting you all!!!

Connie What a great thing you do. I will have to look into it to see how much commitment it takes. I have something new in my life (see below for details) and not sure I would have the time to commit now.

Susan WOW WAY TO GO what a mile stone. congrats on your loss and I am sooooo happy for you! Your dinner sounds wonderful!

Sonia great news that the lessons for your ds, what a wonderful answer to your prayers!!! I am so glad they are already helping him.

Diane I have not tried a new fruit either I missed the most of this week so didnt see this challenge (or more likely didnt remember). I will do this next week tho.

Things will get better Otter, hand in there.

Well I have done pretty good until dinner, that is where I go over on my calories. I so need to watch my dinner intake. This is why I have not lost anything!!

Well the new thing in my life is at the age of 42.5, I have decided to get my Masters Degree in Business Administration/Marketing. I am going to buy my computer tonight and calling the school today to start the paperwork. I am scared out of my wits!!!!!

OK gotta run and do a bit of work.

OH OH OH and with a new laptop and our wireless system at home I no longer will have to wait until DBF gets out of the study to get on here so I should be able to check in more often at night and do some of my SP stuff then too!

Susan sorry your dinner was cancelled sounded like fun.

OK, so I probably won't be on much. My sil had to go to the hospital tonight (thus the reason I'm typing at 1:45 in the morning. She's been dealing w/ High blood pressure and it got pretty high tonight so her OB told her to go in. They have her on meds to thin her cervix right now and if nothing happens tonight THEN in the morning they will induce labor. SO send happy/good vibes/prayers whatever you do for a happy/healthy baby (and mommy)..... Only bad thing my brother that's in the Army Reserves is on his 2 weeks of duty and won't be home until Friday ( a day late) so he will probably miss the birth of his first child! Since it's not life or death most likely can't get him home earlier (doesn't mean we aren't going to try!)...

My dad called me at 12:20 to tell me all of this here it is 1:45 and I'm still up I can NOT sleep! I did get my shower so I won't need it in the am, but ACK I want to be there for her and meet my neice/nephew within minutes! UGH I'm selfish! But I have to wait until the am and pack up the kids some stuff to occupy them and go (my kids are 3 and 4).

Not much going on today. I feel like I have a little virus/fever so I'm looking forward to going home and going straight (yes, straight!) to bed. Do you think feeling this way has stopped me from being hungry? Not in a million! Have a great day everyone...

I didnt weigh in this am. I was chicken. I did so well last week being below 150, that I just didnt want to see it above. I dont know why that bothers me so much. I should have just weighed in to get back on track.

Never mind, Merissa, I've been chicken recently too!! Today I am down by 0.2! A tiny bit, I know, but considering I've had very little exercise, I don't think it's too bad.

Connie, let us know as soon as bub arrives! We'd love to see a photo sometime.

Going back to school sounds awesome, Michelle - a huge step! I've thought about getting a degree online, but I'm not ready to do it yet.

I bought my new fruit today, Diane. It's a persimmon. It was the only thing I could find in the supermarket that I hadn't tried, but they all looked like they weren't properly ripe, so I'll eat it tomorrow. I have no idea what it is!!!!!!

Morning all,

first chance I had to check in today. I slept in because hubby didn't have to catch the bus from town out to go to work. He has a training downtown.

Lots of stuff happening, I see.

Sending good vibes for the baby and momma.

Congrats to all of our losers today.

I am up by a couple pounds, but that is to be expected. I am always up a couple pounds at "that time of month." And that "time" just started. I'm beginning to wonder if something is wrong. Usually my stomach is settled down by the second day but I am getting twinges of pain still today.

Looks like I have cheerleading duties this week, which is why I took this break from all of this work. Wanted to give you your challenge for the day.

I want you all to just spend some time at least three different times today to just relax and concentrate on your breathing. Try to de-stress your day a bit.

I know I already posted this, but I feel at least I need this thought again:

When you breathe, you deliver oxygen to all of your body's cells, including those in your brain. (If you've ever held your breath too long and become light-headed, it was because your brain was being starved of oxygen.) Normal breathing involves deep, slow inhalations and exhalations.

When you're stressed, however, you tend to take shorter, shallower breaths, which don't supply as much oxygen to your body. This actually increases the amount of stress you experience. Because breathing is fundamentally linked to the way you feel mentally and physically, simply changing the way you breathe will enable you to handle stress better.

You probably can't remember the last time you sat quietly and simply focused on your breath â but with a little effort taking a breather can become a regular activity. Today, I want you to do a five-minute exercise that will allow you to become aware of your breath, slowing down your heart rate and reducing your stress level in the process.

It's simple: Just sit and be aware of your breathing. Inhale, exhale, and repeat. Your breath may begin to slow and deepen, but don't actively try to change it. Just follow it without judgment.

How does paying attention to your breath change how you feel? How does it change your breathing? You may be surprised how relaxing this small step can be. Anytime you feel stressed or anxious going forward, do the five-minute breather to return your body to a state of calm.

Karen
