Connie, would you like to be cheerleader starting Thursday? Jodie's doesn't seem to be around any more.
Sure ~ sorry didn't respond sooner couldn't get on cc all day...
Susan I wish it was b/c of what I ate. I do this often actually (another thing I hate about myself). I don't feel physically ill just ill about me physically and mentally frankly. I do this alot sadly I TRY and hide it from ppl around me b/c well they would get tired of it w/ how often it happens. Sorry I let it slip up here the other day, I wish today was better but ya know tis life...
I did work out today and I haven't eaten much today but I know that will be ruined by dinner. I always eat WAY more when dh is here.
I'll try to think of a challenge for us for tomorrow... hmmm
I am sorry to hear so many of you are feeling a bit unmotivated. I KNOW how that feels. For me it comes and goes in cycles. Right now though, I AM IN THE ZONE, BABY! LOL. I have been doing really good except for a couple of indiscretions over the weekend. Yesterday I missed my morning workout, but since it was pretty warm and sunny I ended up jogging outside about 3 miles. It felt really good. A lot better than the treadmill where I basically stare at the numbers ticking by slowly!
I also thank Susan for saying awhile back that if she gets off track then she forces herself to eat right for a couple of days and it gets easier. I feel it getting easier and easier already. I think for me part of it is weaning off some carbs and sugar.
Have any of you followed the Biggest Loser this time? At the finale last night she was soooo tiny! She looked so cute and fit.
I haven't been able to get on CC since my last post, so I had some catching up to do. I hope everyone feels better. And 2sdae, my grandma goes in for a histerectomy on friday for a lot of the same problems your going through, so I feel for ya...
Besides the french toast I had for dinner (I used pure maple syrup, not the sugary kind though), my no cheat wed. has gone okay. Like Merissa said, since it's been so nice out I've been able to get some excercise outside-I love it!!
I've been getting my brother to excercise with me the past couple days, and I find that the time goes by so much more quickly. And it's more fun when you have somebody to talk to I think.
I loved watching the finale of Biggest Loser last night! Aly looks sooooo tiny, you would never ever guess that she was as big as she used to be. My brother walked by when I was watching it, and was like "Whoa, she's ripped." lol.
Well I have to go, have a great evening!
~Beth
I know! Wasnt she adorable! No, you never would have guessed she used to weigh 234 pounds. I was happy that she won.
Merissa that is great about your niece. Can't wait to see pics. I'm so glad she's doing well!
Sonia both those pictures are me.
Wish I remembered to watch Biggest Loser, I don't know why I always forget when it's on. It's such an inspiring show! Wish I had all that time to focus on just me and someone to tell me exactly what I should be doing. I would miss my family though.
I've had a bad no cheat wednesday. Pizza - 2 slices and m&m's. I keep saying tomorrow....tomorrow...but you know how that goes. I just need to actually do it tomorrow before is gets to be a couple of months again.
The weather here has been crappy so no getting outside for me. Treadmills are boring. I could use a buddy =(
Ohhh, Ladies, Girlies, Women, we need an infusion, an injection, an inspiration!!
How about for those of us who count calories that we try a couple of weeks of counting by the week, not by the day? That way, if you choose to eat at the low end of your range, you can reward yourself with the deficit calories and it wouldn't be cheating.
Example: my range is 1200-1550/day. That's 8400-10,850 a week. Let's say on 4 days I eat 1350, 1 day I eat at 1425 and 1 day I eat 1550 for a total of 8375, leaving me a whopping 2475 to do with what I want. I can either really splurge one day (wouldn't recommend that, you'd probably feel really crummy!), or I can spread this deficit from one day to the next as I go along, if that's what helps. As long as I stay within my 10,850 a week, I've been successful. Maybe then we won't feel so deprived.
Who's on board?
It sounds like a good idea, Susan, but I find it hard counting calories, because I'm so busy. I can't do it on SP, because a lot our foods aren't listed there. However, I think I'll give it a go. I'll have to have a look on SP and see what my maximum calories would be.
Morning all!
It's weigh in. I am down 1.5 lbs. That's good since I was up three from March 7th to last week when I weighed in.
The SP calorie counter is working well for me. Although it gives me about 30 extra caloies per slice of my wheat bread. Looking forward to next week. I just feel that I've ended my plateau and will lose some now. Besides, the weather is finally going to get into the 70's!
Have a great day, all!
Karen
I had a successful no-cheat day yesterday. Probably the first in a long time!! Anyway down to 150.4 today, which is down 3 pounds from last week. But I just cant seem to get below 150, I was really hoping....
I had to have a physical yesterday for insurance. I am glad I finally fessed up to DH how much I weigh because we had to get our BMI done and he has to take the card back into work with the results. A few weeks ago I finally told him. I dont know why I didnt want to tell him. I guess probably because he only weighs 10 more pounds than me! He's one of those lucky thin people who can eat pretty much what he wants. He can go weeks without exercising then just run several miles. I hate him sometimes. JK, LOL!
Susan, I think that is a good plan. I think there is a similar method on the weight watchers plan (I cant remember what they call it) of banking up points for occasions where you know you will eat. Of course I think it probably takes some planning. Like if you know you the weekend is filled with parties, you better watch what you are eating M-F!
Goals this week are to KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
1. Exercise 4-5 times
2. Keep journaling food, counting calories
3. Reduce fat intake slightly
4. Drink water (64 ounces daily...at least!)
5. Got some parties this weekend.....dont over do it!
wll ladies I too am in the weight gain zone....
138. ![]()
But to my chagrin I am in yucky pain still and think there maybe some issues with something they said spider webs out and attaches itself to organs and tubes and all that in your abdomen it is causing cysts and pain.
I cannot type the full words I have no idea how it's spelled.
But basically they give you meds to try to shrink it back and if that doesn't work they can remove it but it can grow back. So a lot of people have a hysterectomy to completely remove the tissues so they cant grow.
So today it's off to md for more tests and to see what his recommendations are.
I hate all this poking and probing going on on me there!<<<I know it's silly but geesh, I feel invaded.
Sorry to spread gloom and doom ladies just laying it out there. So dont anyone else apologize for whining..cause I got you all cornered here!
But I am determined to not eat my troubles away...that would only give me more pounds to loose and there for more troubles so why bother!!!! ![]()
So let's whomp these fat cells, get ripped like our buddy on greatest looser and show WE CAN DO THIS WITH OR WITHOUT A NETWORK SHOW...CAUSE WE GOT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]()

uggg. Sorry. I dont blame you for feeling invaded. I dread those types of appointments too. Well I hope they can get to the bottom of this so you can get to feeling better soon.
Well, I've gone over a whole week (lol) of watching what I eat and excercising and stuff...and I feel so much better about myself already. I know I can keep this up.
I really like Susan's idea of staying in the low zone of your daily calories, so then you can splurge, just a little. I know with summer coming up, I"m going to want ice cream, so then I won't feel SO bad about eating any if I ate good the whole week.
My goals for this week are:
~DRINK ENOUGH WATER ( I have a lot of trouble with that one)
~Keep up the excercising
~Eat more protein, less carbs
Merissa ~ Forgot to mention, on biggest loser, I am SO glad that Bernie won the 100 grand. He was my fave all season! I was rooting for Him and Brittany all season (well, until they got voted off, lol).
Everybody have a great day today!
Tuesday, I hope you feel better soon and they figure out what's going on with you. I'm so sorry about it...I'm glad you can at least "visit" with us though, I was really wondering how you were doing.
Sonia and Karen...regarding SP, you can input your own calorie counts and values into the database and save it there to use for the future. So if they don't have the foods you eat already listed, or if the counts are incorrect, you can add your own. You can't change what's in their database, but you can certainly make your own. About 80% of the foods I eat every day I added myself and I just use those values over and over again.
Merissa...good goals. And BTW, I weigh more than most of the men I know!!
Morning ladies.
Down 2.3 pounds this week (132.8 ). I was good all week (except for the intimate food moment on Sunday), so Iâm happy with the results. Only three more pounds to go!!!!
Tuesday, Iâm so sorry you are still feeling bad
Could the cysts be called Endometriosis? Iâve been told it is very painful.
Karen, from what I remember of SP, you can add items to the dictionary of food. Just have the nutrition label handy because you need fill in the calories, fat, sugars, carbs, etc.
Ditto about the doctor. I just went a few days ago, so Iâm free for another year (knock on wood).
Carol
Tuesday, I feel for you. Sure hope you get some good news.
I've been putting off even seeing a gynecologist for a while. Last exam was about three years ago. Yes, I know. I will be making an appointment soon.
Thanks for the suggestion, Susan and Carol, I've already added the correct bread into SP this morning. I think I read at least five or six labels before finding one without the high fructose corn syrup. I really need to start making bread myself again. Then I can control what is in it. I am trying to delete the HFCS from my diet as is recommended. You know, I have not had the cravings for sweets all week like I have had in the past. And still no Coke since that one that gave me heartburn.
My goals for this week:
*Continue to journal my calories into SP
*Water
*Add some additional exercise into my routine (aside for the walking)
Gotta go for now. Talk to you later!
Good morning everyone
2sdae I am sorry for the troubles. I too feel violated during those exams and am happy they are only 1 time a year for me so far!!! Feel our strong good vibes coming your way.
I think I may try that calorie counting Susan. I have been faithful all week logging my numbers and info in SP. I even put in my bad snacks!
Awesome Karen on your loss, keep it up!
Merissa great job to you too on your loss!
Carol a big congrats out to you too! You are right, you can log your own foods on SP. I have to do that alot because they dont always have the brands that I eat listed. It works great.
I forgot to weigh in this morning, my eyes were not quite open as I passed the scale to the treadmill. By the time I remembered I was already at work and had breakfast. I will weigh in tomorrow.
I had a bad no cheat Wednesday. I did get up and do my morning work out, but didnt get in my weight lifting because DBF decided to take me to dinner. We went to Red Lobster, which wouldnt be too bad, but I dont like filet fish. I had their Shrimp with lobster butter. I ate the whole thing then paid for it later as I was so full I was uncomfortable all evening!!! Why do I do that??????? Well because I love the taste of food. I need more will power, can some of you send me a bit of yours?!?!?!?
Ok off ot log my workout and last nights dinner and breakfast into SP.
I did good yesterday ate my normal breakfast, skipped lunch entirely and ate a smaller dinner. I say smaller probably still to big but smaller than I normally do. Of course the mood I am in helped make me not even want to eat.
Tuesday, I hope they get everything worked out for you. Someone asked if it was Endometriosis man I hope not Iknow from personal experience how painful that is (but on a good note the surgery isn't so bad).
Alright so since I am the cheerleader I thought long and hard about our challenge for this week.... I'm thinking that if we add 10 minutes to our work out routine or an extra mile to your walk/run. Push ourselves just a little bit harder! Like for me I do the same dvd everyday, yesterday I added the chair part of the workout and I make sure on the parts where they are doing something I am physically unable to do I do something else that targets my abs (my problem area) while they are doing that exercise. That way I don't have any moments of not doing anything. I've also added a little weight to some of the arm exercises as well.
SO here we go ladies! Lets BURN those calories!
Connie,
It is not good to skip meals. Your body will go into starvation mode.
You need to eat several times a day. Smaller, balanced meals is what is recommended.
I know it's bad but I've just been in a sad mood and not wanting to eat. TOday I did eat a banana (somehow we bought an odd # which means I got one LOL)... Then I also ate a few bites of watermelon.
My problem is I jsut LOVE food, so having smaller portions is just hard. LOL...
Thanks for the reminder though I can't let this mood effect my eating (either too much or not enough) I NEED to find that balance!
Yep, Connie, you need to eat...we're here for you! If you don't eat, you're weight loss will slow down, guaranteed.
I'm going to try and eat very carefully today because I'm going out to dinner tonight. Spring is the time when many new wines are introduced and a friend and I are going to a restaurant that is serving a fixed menu around 4 of these wines. There will be an appetizer, 2 first courses (always pasta, rice, or soup), 1 second course (meat or fish), vegetables, and dessert. So I don't get to choose what I order, only how much I eat! I've already cut my breakfast in half and so far, so good but I have many hours to go!
Connie,
It sometimes will help to pre-portion your foods. After you get home from the store, try to portion things out into meal-size portions. Don't do this while you are hungry. You also should make your meal plans in advance if you have troubles with it. If you know what you will be eating and when it makes it a bit easier.
By the way, I am a major meal skipper, too. For the last fifteen years or so I've been eating ONE MEAL A DAY. Not good! I really packed on the weight. At my largest I was into a size 14. That is when I decided to apply the brakes. The real turn around, though, was when we had to "downsize" the car and start walking and using public transportation.
I do still have to force myself to eat in the mornings, and at lunchtime. The body cannot use energy that it is not given. And it will store every calorie it can without fuel.
I also know what you mean about feeling ick about yourself. I do go through the same thing often.
Katie, contratulations on the weight loss! Keep up the good work!
I had a terrible afternoon at work yesterday. I was hoping to take the day off today but I received about 10 dictations for Monday, the supervisors were out all morning so I couldn't get them approved so that I was able to do them yesterday. I didn't get approval on them until after lunch, so they are still sitting there waiting for me to do this morning. The other secretary took an hour and a half for lunch and then went into her supervisor's office and closed the door for another hour and a half. I was not able to have lunch until 2:30.
Of course I couldn't eat that late, so I went and grabbed a Coke and a Pepperming Pattie, actually two.
There went the eating plan for yesterday. All because of some stress and frustration.
I should have just stayed at my desk and done some of this dictation. At least some of it would have been done.
Well, enough of my whinning for one day. Gotta get ready to start work and get some of it done. ![]()
Have a great day, all!
Karen
Thanks Susan and Karen. I hate when I get like this. I feel like all I've done is whine lately so I'm TRYING to just shut it LOL... I promise I'm not always like this I'll get my act together soon (IHOPE)...
Well, I didn't get to work out yesterday my youngest (he's 3) woke up not feeling well. Luckily it was jsut his allergies BUT since he's not good at blowing his nose all that stuff went to his tummy and made his tummy upset. He's fine now but just didn't get my work out yesterday. I will today though and I'll be sure to add 10 more minutes and/or weights.
Alright ladies it's friday one last push until the weekend!!! Let's drink our water PUSH thru that workout and burn those calories!
Good morning everyone
Connie, great challange I think we all need this one since most of us are not super motivated this week. I am in agreement with everyone, you can not skip a meal!!!! It is so much better to eat little mini meals every few hours to keep the motabolism and your blood sugars at the proper levels.
Katie- YEA for you on your loss!!!!
OH Susan that sounds wonderful. You have such a great opportunity to experience such things. I am glad you are out there doing these things, I know many people who were overseas and never left their house or the base because it was too scary not being in thier comfort zone, so they never had these experiences. I love hearing about them and enjoying them thru you!!!
Karen, I try to do this when I get home from the grocery store, but by the time I get home I just want to put all of that stuff away and be done with it. Perhaps I should try my iPOD and rock (or country) out while I am doing it...... Sorry about your work problems, it stinks when your lunch time depends on someone else. I used to have that problem, thank goodness I no longer do.
I got up and worked out this morning but did not add the 10 minutes because I didnt read your post until this morning so I will do that with my work out tomorrow. Not only will I be doing my treadmill tomorrow we are haveing a pool party for a birthday in the family so I will be playing in the pool too. I cant wait, even though I have to wear mens swim shorts with my one piece.....but that will change!!!
I did well yesterday with my eating. We went to Native New Yorker for dinner and I had 16 wings Honey Hot. I thought I had really killed my numbers, but really it wasnt that bad. I am glad because I love those things!!!I stayed within range on all except fat, and I was only a little over. I actually stayed within range on my sodium!!!!! First time since tracking my food on SP.
Speaking of tracking my nutrition on SP, can this be considered a journal?
jHave a great day everyone!!
Michelle
Just a quick note! Sorry I didnt check in much, I was busy with cake yesterday. I am really excited about the way it turned out...I probably wont get a chance to post it until monday.
Anyway I will be out of town this weekend at 3 celebrations...so pray for me that I dont get carried away! LOL!
I did well yesterday because I was so busy, but then I was starving and ate too much pizza. I swear that it isnt the CAKE that is making me fat. Its making cakes. Why? because I am too tired to cook or it gets too late when I am finishing up a cake project and I go for the pizza.
Have a good weekend all. I will probably check in Monday!
Merissa I'll be praying for you. I don't do that often or at all but with 3 celebrations you need it! I have confidence you will be able to control yourself.
I hear ya on the cake making. Usually I'm the same way but the last 2 cakes I really made an effort to keep the kitchen clean and have a meal planned so it wouldn't end up in pizza. I'm not saying I did good and ate healthy but I cooked!
Oh I was up a lb. and I haven't done anything...goals
eat right
exercise
water
back to those 3
Gotta go dd just got into the shortening...yay!
Oh my, did I have fun last night! The dinner was a typical Italian way of eating and it was great. My friend Ray and I arrived at the restaurant at 8:30 and what I didn't realize, is that it was an event where everyone ate at the same time. The reason was a celebration of the new wines and to introduce a restaurant guide for this region, which is the Veneto. So the guy who wrote the guide was there, as well as an older guy who was some type of food expert, and people from the vineyard of each of the wines. They all talked about the beauty of the food, and the "slow food" movement (as opposed to fast food) and about each thing to be served. So we started the meal with prosecco, which is kind of like a dry champagne and sopressa, a soft salami, and local roots. Then we had a little pasta package filled with pear and goat chees, served with a red wine. This was followed by a red rice dish with a hint of orange...yummy! The main dish was hare liver (not my favorite!) served with dandelion greens, one of my favorites, with another red wine. For dessert...oh my gosh...a sweet wine WITH...inside a mason jar filled with an amazing sort of yummy soft crust on the bottom, white, very soft, sweet whipped cream on top of that, and in the middle very rich chocolate. Oh my, I haven't had anything like that in 4 months...heavenly! The whole dinner was a bit over 4 hours...SO fun! So I went way off my food plan, but all is good, I"m back on track. It was a really educational and traditional evening.
I hope everyone is feeling better. Katie, great job, that's wonderful!
Have a great weekend!
Susan sounds like such a great time. I am soooo green with envy that you have had this oppurtunity! I recently read eat, pray, love and it totally has/had me thinking I could take a year away from my family to do just that!
So I can't wait until my cheerleading duties to post a challenge kind of thing to you all. Bring your scale into your kitchen We had to change the batteries to our scale and there it sat for a few hours in our kitchen and I thought if it was there as a constant reminder I just may be able to stay away from the bad stuff! DH even suggested putting it right in front of the fridge so we HAD to step on it before opening the door. I think this may work!
The crisco fiasco wasn't that bad. There was a little bit on the couch and floor and dd was washing her hands before I got downstairs. There was a ton of shortening on the lightswitch in the bathroom, sink handles and soap dispensers. It was a fun clean up!
Hope everyone is having a better weekend than me I plan on renewing my motivation.....again =D
Connie, that's funny! Actually, I had about 3 bites, decided it wasn't for me, and traded my friend for his dandelion greens, not his favorite...so I only had a bit of your relatives! And by the way...not on this dinner menu, but horse is also typically eaten here (sorry, Katie!)...I just can't get there, I love Mr. Ed too much!
Happy Monday all...I'm sitting at my desk, just having finished a chicken sandwich, yum! I love sandwiches. For the first time, I tried low cal Miracle Whip (love MW, you can take the girl out of the South, but you can't...). I'm SHOCKED at how good it is! I can't taste the difference. I find that I'm often near my calorie limit but haven't gotten enough fat grams for the day, this will take care of that because it's only 20 calories but 1.5 grams of fat per tbls, so I had 2 servings today. I wish I could get low cal bread over here, but the lowest I've found in 60 cal/slice and I know in the States you can get it for 35-40. Oh well, soon.
I hope everyone is having a great start to their week. I was able to get back on my eating track yesterday and actually had to work to get in all my calories for the day. It's cool and rainy here (again), a good day to be at my desk.
