Hey susan, you look great! It is funny that people never look like you imagine! I sort of had a picture in my mind that you had short curly hair. I don't know why?!?
Funny, I pictured Sonia with short dark hair, too. Of course, I also pictured Susan with dark hair.
Everybody looks great. I'm going to try to post my picture now. I just had Hubby take it. I think he is upset because I had him retake it. I wanted to ask him to retake it again.
He wants me to tell you all that he said I was like an "anorexic without the eating disorder." Think he is a bit tired of my saying I look fat in my pictures.
Going to have to come back. I seem to be having problems just finding the picture.
OMG what a lovely day this has been (insert sarcasm)... So being Spring in lovely Texas it is that time of year. We had some storms run thru last night. My son was in my room at 3 b/c he was scared at 3:30 we lost power. 4:30 my daughter got up to pee and wigged out b/c the light wouldn't come on. FINALLY at 6 am power wahoo just in time for dh to shower and leave. Before he left he noticed that 3 sections of our fence was knocked down in the storm - as I cuss the storm I'm SO thankful the tornado didn't come down near us we just got the high winds. I go to a gyn appointment, dh a bday present come home feed kids at 1:45pm BAM no power again SIGH.... Didn't have power again until 5pm lovely..
Anyway, at my doc appt I found out I had lost 10 lbs since my visit last year GO ME! LOL....
Hey girls! Just a quick hello before bed... It ended up being a busy day and I couldn't get on CC! Sorry I'm delinquent in posting my pic - I don't have it handy at the moment but I'll get it on tomorrow for sure. I love seeing everyone else's though - such fun and a great idea!
I had a good weigh in this morning - down 2 pounds!! But I don't know if it is "real" since technically I was the same exact weight every day for the last week, and then this morning two pounds less - so maybe some of it is water or something. Anyway I guess I'll see tomorrow. I really hope it stays off as the encouragement would really be so nice. DH and I went to a swing dance lesson tonight and I didn't like looking in the mirror while we danced ![]()
Well, I have searched and searched for a full body pose of myself, and the only one I can find is from my graduation pics 2 years ago...so I'll have to post a more recent one when I get someone to take it for me. Maybe I'll bribe my little sister to do it. ![]()
I am SO SORE today! I guess that what happens when you don't excercise for awhile, huh? lol.
My goal for this week is to keep up on my water, and try not to eat after dinner. That is going to be so hard.....
Congratulations everyone on their weight loss! Keep up the good work.
~Beth
Nope, I'm a blonde! And I just got 8 inches cut off last Saturday, that really made me feel better!
Connie, yea for you on the 10 pounds! You look great! I'm glad your electricity is back on...I'm moving to Texas in December and I remember from when I lived there before how devastating and sudden the storms can be.
Michelle, it's GREAT to see you. I don't know exactly how I pictured you, but you look just like I thought you might! I have the same dinnertime issues too. This is what I do: 3 and a half months ago, I would've come home and started gobbling anything, preferably high fat and unhealthy, and eaten a ton of it. Really...a ton. Now, I try and have at least a few choices for dinners, all in my calorie range for the day. I tell myself I can have anything I want, but that I'm choosing to eat healthy. I also tell myself that after I'm finished, I can either have more of the healthy stuff or I can eat anything more I want, high in fat/calories or not. A couple of things happen: one, once I eat, that usually calms me down and I don't feel so frantic about eating. Then, I record those calories on SP and only then do I make a decision about whether to eat more. And if I do, I must record those calories on SP. Know what? I think I've overeaten once at dinner since I started this. I usually don't want to record "bad" stuff. I'm usually OK after a healthy meal and don't crave other things. I'm proud of myself for sticking to my range...all these reasons keep me from going back for more; this means sometimes going to bed hungry. The more I practice, the better I get. I can't say it's actually "easier" but I can say with more practice, it becomes habit. I never want to go to bed hungry, but I do. I always "want" to eat more, but I don't. I'm not "cured" and never will be but I'm better. I make my own choices. And, I've started to incorporate higher calorie foods into my meals every once in a while because I miss them, I just make sure I count the calories and I understand I'll be eating less food that day because I'm usually determined to stay in my range. Sorry...didn't mean for this to be so long!
Wow, everyone is doing so well, and it's good to see you all!!!! But there's been no sign of our fearless leader - - - - -where are you Tuesday??? Actually you're our up and coming cheerleader for the week, did you know?
Beth, sore is a good sign - it means you've been working hard!!
Maggie, I don't weigh myself every day, just because I fluctuate so much. Once a week gives a more accurate reading for me....I know one of the others weighs every day though and that works for her...sorry, can't remember who!
Michelle, 2 1/2 pieces of pizza is better than 4, which is probably how many I'd have had! Great to see your smiling face! My secret at dinner time is to eat raw carrots while I am chopping my vegetables. I love carrots and it fixes the starvation that happens around that time!
Connie, great pic! And 10 lbs loss since last year - that's great!!
Karen, not sure about why your picture won't attach! Is it too large? You may need to go to shrinkpictures.com as well! Keep trying!!
Susan, its great that you can show off a smaller you! I think a pic every 20 lbs is a great idea! Maybe we should all post one at regular intervals....it may help with our motivation!
Bella, I hope your challenge goes well! Tell your daughter I said a bit "HI" all the way from Tassie!
It was such a beautiful day yesterday, walked my neighborhood - little over 2 miles..Have to say I am sleeping so much better these days. Started to keep my diet cookbooks in the car so when I go food shopping I have them for reference. Been taking my omega's regularly and my hot flashes disappeared. Yea! I guess there is something good about all this health business.
Have a great day all!!!!
It was fun seeing everyone's pictures! I guess Redhare does have red hair. I never really put that together. I was thinking bunnies.......I guess I don't know what I expected everyone to look like, but everyone looks so nice! I should probably post one of me standing up so I don't look all bunched up and "hiding" under my coat!
Susan is such an inspriation to me...that she has kept to that calorie count religiously for so long. it is obviously working! I know she is wishing it would come off faster, but think...if she kept this up and lost another 22.5 pounds in 3 months, that would be 45 pounds! wow!
okay so I PLANNED to go to the gym this morning (havent been in a week...gasp...because of the vacation and my DH having to leave for work at the crack of dawn) but my littlest was up half the night crying that his ear hurt. So I made the desicion not to go.
HOWEVER, this morning I got up and weighed myself again (because it is my weigh in day with calorie king) and I am down to 150.4! so apparently I lost almost 3 pounds since yesterday?? Not sure. But I have been keeping in my calorie range and drinking my water. My body is adjusting to the water by serioulsy purging it. I had to pee so much before bed last night. I SWEAR I went 4 times between 9 and 10. So I think I may just be losing water weight right now. Hey pounds are pounds!
My goal for today is not give in to "it's friday and I deserve a break." It might be fine any other week, but I have had a rocky couple of weeks and I DON'T deserve it!
I don't know if anyone else watches the Biggest Loser, but one week Bob (the trainer) said that after they weigh in they allow them to have a high calorie meal. They do this to give them something to look forward to and also to keep their metabolism from stalling (so the body doesnt think it is starving). Just something to think about!
I had a lot of trouble getting onto the forum yesterday, so I wasnât able to upload a picture. Iâll try again when I get home from work. As for weigh-in Thursday. I was down ½ pound. Not much, but better than a gain. My problem is that I have been cheating on the weekends. It takes me five days (Mon-Fri) to lose the weight I put on over the weekend, so Iâm caught in no-lose land. Iâm gonna try and be good this weekend. I want to lose the last five pounds and be done with it!
Merissa, love those little boys. They look so happy and loving.
Carol

LOL you are smart to think bunnies.... I have been called Red my whole life (for now obvious reasons) THEN I married my dh and his last name is Hare. SO it was a perfect fit LMAO. Once my family realize that was his last name that's what they called me for a little while it was funny!
Susan- what part of Texas will you be moving too. I love living here but it's mainly b/c ALL of my family is here not b/c of the weather so much. I HATE tornado's sad when a storm comes you are praying for hail and no tornado...
We are just a pretty group of ladies I must say - I hadn't been on here long enough to form a 'vision' of what all of ya'll looked like but we are smokin'! Let's keep on this great track we are on and melt those fat cells away!
Maggie swing dancing sounds like FUN! I used to want to take lessons, but I am HORRIBLE at following. I'm such a control freak I try to lead at everything pretty much.
Michelle - that sounds yummy at least you stopped afer 2 ish, of course you at least feel guitly I would have added pineapple to that pizza and said HEY at least I got some fruit. I NEVER get fruit we buy it often but I save it for the kids b/c IMO it's more important for them to have it than myself so alas I don't get ANY fruit....
Good morning everyone
I love seeing everyone! What a great idea Sonia!!!!
Susan, thanks for the information, I think I will try that. Eat something healthy, then if I still want and can "afford" the other then and only then can I have it. I really need to stop worring about DBF and what he wants for dinner. If we dont eat the same thing he either doesnt eat or had cereal, then I feel bad. I just need to do it.
Maggie, that is the reason I cant weigh in every day, just toooooo much fluctuation it would drive me absolutely nuts!
Beth, I didnt have a full body one either I just put one up that I had. It is fun to put a face with the person. Great job on working out. It does hurt, but it hurts so good huh?
Bella, great on your walk. I like to walk and now that it is staying light longer I should go for a walk after dinner. DBF is studying so it would keep the house quiet a bit longer for him and I would get in some extra work out time. I am not looking forward to the hot flashes. I figure, based on my mom and sister, I have about 5 more years before all of that starts.
Merissa I know what you mean about the peeing thing. I drink so much water that I am peeing it seems every 30 min at work!!! Not only do I drink alot but I am border line Diabetic and one symptom of diabetes is frequent peeing. So I am double wammyed!! I am just glad that I stopped getting up at night. Not sure what changed because I still am drinking water up until I go to bed.
Carol, I had problems last night too around 7 or so AZ time getting on. Perhaps that is when they are doing some tweeking. YEA on your loss! You will do it.
Ok gotta get to work
OK so I added dinner to yesterdays SP page.......
With my pizza and my usual pickles and olives
68 calories over
under on carbs
5 fat grams over
just good enough on protien
and WAY WAY WAY over on sodium.
So because I am way over on sodium I will not put the olives on my salad today for lunch. Does anyone know how much sodium there are in peppercini rings? I tried to look them up so I could add them to my SP list but couldnt find them. Will have to wait until I get home and look at the label.
Anyway that gave me a good idea on where I stand on my numbers I have never entered a full day on there. What an eye opener especially on sodium, I knew I was over but not that much over!!!
3617mg over WOW
AUGH!
School was Sooooo hard today. Every friday we hold a lunch buffet, so we get to eat after the event is over. There is so much food, and pastries. And believe me, I was SO hungry. But I did fairly well, took a bunch a fruit from the fruit platter, and a few other things. BUt nothing deep fried or really cheesy or anything. And I had NO desserts, which is huge for me, it is so easy for me to just pop a cream puff or truffle in my mouth like it's nothing. But I just kept telling myself that I already KNOW what it tastes like, I don't need to eat it, etc. I have some much more pleasure having not have eaten it, than if I would've, you know what I mean? So yay for me!
A plus, though, is being in a hot kitchen all day makes you really guzzle that water. ![]()
Merissa ~ You are so right about the attitude of "It's friday, I desrve a break!" I am the same way, but I'm gonna be a good girl today
And I do watch Biggest Loser, and remember Bob saying that, about their weekly high-caloric meal. That's a really good thing to know that even they, with their incredible weight loss, are still allowed to "fudge" one a week.
Karate ~ All right, All right, I'll post just a regular old picture of myself... ![]()
I know all about the high sodium! My grandma, who lives with us, has really high blood pressure, so I've learned to always cook low-sodium. The best way to not miss the salt so much is to just slowly wean yourself off of it. Everytime you make something, use less and less salt each time. I'm so used to eating low sodium, that usually other people's cooking just takes TOO salty. Another good thing is to use a lot of fresh or dried herbs. Food won't taste as bland that way.
I really like being able to use the nutrition guide thing on SP. Yesterday, the first time I've even used it, I came in the right ranges of everything! And I also realized how many calories are in different things...I like that.
I think that's the longest post I've ever written! lol
~Beth
Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement. I just may have to start keeping a journal. I started taking a scuba diving class and I start walking again next week since it has finally warmed up here in the mornings. Next week I will be able to get to the gym five times, so I will just keep plugging along. I have a question what is the sp that you all keep referring to? I didn't read this post from the beginning, I kinda came upon it in the middle so I am sorry.
OH, you guys are too much! *blush*
Katie ~ Is that your horse? He(or she) is almost as cute as you
We have a horse, Ranger, so I always like to hear about others' horses too.
Cathy ~ I'm new here, and it took me a bit to figure out what SP was too...It stands for sparkpeople, as in www.sparkpeople.com. Hope that helps!
Hey ladies!
I know what you all mean about the daily fluctuation. The reason I don't like the weigh in weekly though is that then I don't really know if that day's weigh in is "true" or just reflective of a weird fluctuation. So yesterday I was 2 lbs less than the whole previous week... but today I'm back up 1.5 lbs again. Boohoo. I knew that 2 lbs was too good to be true.
Today has been a bit of a rough day. Sooooo tempted!!! I'm still under my limits, but I've just eaten more carbs today than I should have. I'm tired of being hungry! *sigh*
My pic is posted below. sorry it isn't the best quality - it is a pic of a hardcopy photo, since that is what I had! It was from a couple of weeks ago. Seeing this pic is what gave me a kick in the behind to get back on a diet...
Everyone looks so good. It's so great to see faces.
I couldn't get on at all yesterday. I actually took my pic today but for some reason my computer/camera is being weird when I try to load it so I will try again later.
Right now I'm working on a cake for a friends sons 1st bday tomorrow. fun.
My dog (from 10 years ago that lives with my mom) died/got put down. She's had health issues for awhile but they didn't know she had cancer and I guess she was in rough shape. Kind of an emotional, try not to eat day.
Good evening, everyone.
The best I could do was to resize the picture as an avatar and add it.
I still can't figure out what is going on with my pic. I will keep trying to get a picture in so that it can be seen better.
I have it on my spark page, but I am not sure how to direct you to that.
It just makes no sense that I couldn't post it here. ![]()

Karen
Sorry about your dog, Casey. I know how sad it it when you have to put down an animal you've had that long. We had to make a choice with our dog, 3 years ago. She'd got out and attacked the neighbours dog and nearly killed it, and the coucil declared her dangerous and gave us the choice of having her put down or keeping her in a small cage with a cement floor with a muzzle on. She'd had free range of our 2 1/2 acre property, and we decided putting her in a cage would kill her anyway (mentally, I mean). We'd had her 8 years.
Maggie, I know what you mean - I'm tired of being hungry too. It only takes 3 days for your body to get used to not eating so much, but those 3 days are so hard!!
Carol, it looks like you take after your Mum! Great family pic!
Katie, that's a gorgeous pic of you with your son! He's adorable! I grew up on a miniature stud. My 3 sisters were all very "horsey", but I was the inside girl who read books all day!
Cathy, it's good to see you're back. I'm a scuba diver too!! My hubby's family have owned a scuba shop for 40 years, so we've both worked in it together, and my hubby does some commercial diving too. Scuba diving is such good exercise!! The only problem is, I always feel like a chocolate bar after diving, because it's taken so much energy, I need a sugar boost. ![]()
Beth, great going at the buffet lunch!! It can be really hard when it's all sitting out in front of you like that.
Michelle, maybe you went over with your sodium, but your calorie intake wasn't too bad!! Calories is the only thing I count. I'm very conscious of fat levels anyway, so I just naturally choose the lower fat (most of the time!!) and sodium is something I don't even consider! (maybe I should!)
Connie, it's a bit comical that your sir name fits in with your nickname! It gives you a good username!!
Merissa, it sounds like your son needed an ear candle in the night! It's hard when they get ear aches in the middle of the night - it can keep EVERYONE awake!
Well, still haven't heard from Tuesday, and Pootchi hasn't shown herself for a while, either. I hope they're ok.
Sonia, GREAT idea for the pictures! It's so fun to see everyone!
Beth, you're so darm cute and young, I feel like you're "our" daughter on Putting Down the Cake Club! As our youngest, you can keep us young!
Maggie, I was having your hunger problem a few weeks ago, it was killing me. Then someone here suggested that I might not be getting enough protein, and I think that was true. I started choosing more high protein foods like chicken breasts, turkey (loaded) and my new favorite I could eat for every meal, hummus. The food that keeps me the fullest for the longest is low fat cottage cheese; if I eat a container for lunch, it more than holds me til dinner, no problem. I felt much better and have not been as hungry after examining my protein. So look at your protein grams and see if that might be it. I don't know if you're an SP member, but you can get your daily protein recommendations and track it there, it's great.
Cathy, try SP! Michelle and Merissa recommended it to me in January and it's half of what's responsible for my weigh loss. When I first joined it, I was completely overwhelmed in trying to negotiate the site, I think I didn't look at it again for 2 weeks. Now, I get around it with no problem and totally rely on it for support and calorie counting.
Carol, great to see you! You look like you only need to maintain! Yea you!
Katie, your family is beautiful! Congratulations on being in the 160's, that's huge! I can't wait to get there....sigh...someday.
Michelle, isn't it amazing how that sodium sneaks in? I think I'm doing so well, then look at my sodium for the day and am horrified! I have high blood pressure and I definitely feel it in my swollen fingers the next day if I'm not careful. My BP has come down though, even with just a loss of 20 pounds, so I'm happy about that.
Karen, I'm glad you got your photo posted. I'm looking forward to seeing another one to see your face better. When you sign in to your own Spark Page, look at the site address on your computer; that's your personal address for your personal page. Copy it down and send it to us and we'll be able to go right there.
Casey, I'm so sorry about your dog {{hugs}}. Isn't it wonderful to have animal friends? Don't eat!!!
Have a great weekend everyone. I'm SO happy to be home...I don't have social plans, I'm not on call...I'm hanging out! I am attaching a photo of what I think is beautiful food...Italians eat off the season, there's not a lot of processed food here. Last Sunday I went to one of my favorite markets , where they sell everything from antique furniture to flowers. It's carciofi (artichoke) season...if only all food was this beautiful!
