That's awful Susan!!!!! What does horse taste like, by the way??? I guess it's no worse than kangaroo, camel or crocodile, which my husband likes to eat occasionally!

It sounds like I'll be dreading the week that you're cheerleader, Casey! My DH would just complain about tripping over the scales all the time! icon_lol.gif

Merissa, how did you go over the weekend?? 3 celebrations in one weekend would make it very hard!

Michelle, I'd say your SP tracking could definitely be a journal!

I've been really good with my exercising over the past week, and this morning I walked 10 minutes longer. I still haven't got my eating completely under control. I need to do a bit more work on that.

Tuesday, I hope you're doing ok.

I had a bad, bad weekend (food-wise). Lots of sugar, white flour and not a single vegetable touched my lips. It is so hard to be good when everyone around you is eating whatever they want. icon_cry.gif

On the positive side, I finally went through my closet and removed all the pants that no longer fit. It was a huge pile! Now I need to go shopping to fill up all that empty closet space. icon_lol.gif

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Sounds like some interesting foods Susan!

Well I had an interesting weekend, some good, some bad. I won't rehash my cake story here, but you can read about it in the disaster forum if you want! http://forum.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-583575.html

I think I have had pizza and cake for every meal since Friday! It was served at 2 of the parties this weekend and I had leftover pizza for lunch sat and sun too!! I was also sad about what happened at the first party (see above disaster) so I just didn't care I guess. My DH is also having a crisis at work, so he was on the phone or working on the computer all weekend long, leaving me to deal with the kids most of the time this weekend. I am just worn out from traveling and the house is a disaster. I felt I needed a break so I didnt get to the gym today. Gosh I am such a kill-joy this morning! I'll be better, I promise, I just need to get that all off my chest!

But I did get to spend lots of time with my new neice and she looks perfectly cute and is a very content baby. We celebrated her baptism yesterday. She is very lovable!

Anyway, I have too get back into the groove here. Hope you all are doing well!

Merissa, your cake is stunning, really, it's gorgeous and beautiful. And you probably feel the way you do about what happened because: 1. you're a caring person, 2. sounds like you had a challenging weekend even before the hives, and that might have made you a little emotionally fragile about the hives, and 3. you take pride in your fabulous work and this situation took a bit away from the fabulous-ness of the cake, in your mind. It's a new day, a new week...and we're here for you! Me, I look at that cake and am over the top impressed! I so glad you got to see Sophie, I know you've been waiting for that!

Cheer up Merissa, who would have thought egg whites in icing would cause an allergic reaction! At least the parent now know that their baby is allergic to eggs and will be on their guard. Unknown allergies can be deadly, so theoretically you might have saved the babyâs life because now the parents will get her tested for other (more deadly) allergies.

PS: the cake is awesome.

Thanks! Susan, I think you described my feelings exactly. I also don't know that it was the eggs or even my cake for that matter, but I assume that was it. So I just feel badly...especially with a big audience......!

Merissa ~ I'm so sorry, it's not your fault and think that they'll get her tested now so you probably saved her alot of pain... I know how bady ou must feel but it was out of your control. The cake was beautiful btw

OK ladies so now that we made it thru the weekend our slacking of is over! Lets get our booties BACK into gear and add those 10 minutes/1 mile or weights whatever it is that you need to push yourself a little bit more! Work thru those sore muscles just remember it's a GOOD pain! No pain no gain right! LOL

Yesterday, I was at my parents and they ahve this HUGE and I mean HUGE blow up slide thing and I was running up and down it like crazy playing w/ the kids so much my leg HURT so bad last night I had to take tylenol just to get some sleep.

Oh Merissa my 4 yr old daughter is sitting in my lap (she LOVES looking at cc's cakes)... Anyway, she saw your aviator and was like "look mom it's the cake guy in that picture" I said yes it is and she was like why is he on your computer. I said that you got to meet him and got your picture w/ him and she's like "OOOH Mom you should meet him too. Maybe he'll let me help him with his cakes too"

She's so funny~ she loves watching Ace of cakes w/ me and she loves helpig me w/ fondant. Both my kids can hold a piping bag(they are 3 and 4) sooo funny I LOVEIT!

That'd be a huge blow, Merissa, but you weren't to know. You might find that one day she'll have another reaction and they'll be able to work out exactly what it is she is allergic to, then you'll know for sure whether it was your cake or not. Your cake is gorgeous!!!

Carol, it must feel great being able to throw away things that are too big! I haven't got to that point yet!

I'm finding now that I am picturing everyone as I read their posts. Anyone else??

OH Merissa I am so sorry and I would have cried too. However you dont know it was the cake or icing. At least it was hives and nothing worse.

I had a pretty good weekend, still went over my calories but not as bad. Now that I can track everything on SP I find that I think about what I am about to put in my mouth!!!

By the way have you checked out the teams on SP? I just joined the Fat Wives club on there. They are quite active with challanges every month and other challanges. They also have an accountability partner program. You get paired up with someone to be accountable for your actions, somone personal. I am excited for the May challange to be revealed. They have an Amazing race challange too, where they "race" from one city to another with check points along the way where you have to do challenges in order to move on. You keep track of your miles walked on your pedomitor and log them. Anyway just wanted to make sure you all checkout the spark teams to see which one fits you. By they way the wives one accepts even non wives.

oooo...that sounds fun!

Well I do have hopes that it possibly wasnt the cake. I guess the mom had given her eggs and milk prior to the party to be sure she wasnt allergic. Anyway, I dont want to get my hopes up, but I think there is a chance it could have been something else. The mom also wondered about it being a contact thing since the only place she had hives is where it actually touched her. So I wonder if maybe it was soap or whatever was used to wash her off. Ahhhh, just a hope!

That sounds more likely, Merissa. I can't wash clothes in normal store-bought wash powder, as my youngest breaks out in a rash where his clothes touch him. If they were using a new type of soap it's very likely.

Whew! I've missed a lot over the weekend! CC just wasn't working for me, so this is the first chance I've had to get on...

Merissa ~ Ugh, that is no fun...i once had a kid with a peanut allergy almost eat my cake (that I used peanut oil in), thankfully I realized this before he ate it! So now I only use vegetable oil.

Susan ~ It sounds like you had quite the dining experience! I would love to go to Italy, just to experience the FOOD, let alone the sights and culture and all.

Ugh, I"m with Carol...I had a terrible terrible weekend, food-wise. It's like once I messed up just a little, it was downhill from there all day. My mom got ice cream on sale, like 5 different flavours, and that didn't help matters any. I am a sucker for ice cream! So yesterday I just had that terrible icky feeling about myself, so now I'm back on track! I don't want to feel like that anymore. At all.

Everyone have a good evening!

Well, the weather here has been chaotic. It poured Friday night, 2 weekend days of gorgeous sun, now 2 days of cold rain, it's been this pattern for weeks now. I hear our summer is around the corner, I'll believe it when I feel it!

It's my No Cheat Tuesday and so far, so good. I'm getting ready to eat an early lunch at my desk because, as usual on my no cheat day, I'm starving. I'm making High-Hat Cupcakes tonight, has anyone done this before? Check out the website where I found them: www.thebarmybaker.blogspot.com/2007/09/getting-high-with-hi-hat-cupcakes.html They're so cute! I'm making them for a party tomorrow night, instead of going out, my Wednesday night crowd is having a party and I volunteered to bring dessert.

Alright ladies It's Tuesday morning 'Earth Day' lets help out the earth by putting more BO out there! LMAO Add those minutes to our workout I added a weight to mine.

I had a lovely awakening this am. My brother is a Army reservest and he is on his 2 weeks of duty (NO I am not complaining b/c at least it's not over seas again). Anyway, his wife is pregnant and was due May 18th but they just pushed it up to the 11th she is on bed rest and is having high bp issues so I am on 'call' while my brother is gone. Well, she calls me at 7 this am I was about to PANIC like OK not dressed yet but here we go! Thankfully it was just that the transformer blew near my parents house so they don't have power right now. PHEW! but that sure got my adrelane pumping! Hopefully the power will be on soon b/c we are in the high 70's now and my parents JUST got groceries over the weekend (of course). Anyway, no point to the story except ACK when I woke up! I have been making sure my camera is charged and stuff so that I am ready IF that phone call happens (I hope not b/c I want my brother to be here for the birth of his first baby)...
Now, I must go paint trim in our bathroom, again.

COme one girls lets kill those fat cells!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning everyone.

Susan I have heard of those I will have to check out the web site to remind myself what they are.

I had a great evening last night. I was able to control myself at dinner, and I ate at the table instead of in front of the TV. I filled almost half of my plate with Broccoli then 1/3 of the rest of the plate with pasta and sauce and chicken pieces and only 1 garlic toast. I was so pleased with myself!!! I did dishes without sampling any more of it while putting it away. THEN later in the evening I did some strength training.

Connie thanks for the challange to ad 10 min to your workout. I added my strength trianing last night. I used the generated strength set from my SP and did those last night. I also did them on Saturday morning along with my cardio!

OK everyone have a great day!!!

Sonia, I am picturing everyone as I read posts too. It's nice to have faces with names.

I've been trying to make those damn hi-hat cupcakes, Merissa, I don't know how you did them! I just can't get the chocolate at the right consistency for dipping, and I really don't have a suitable container to dip them in. Sooooo...I'm going to try it again tomorrow. If it doesn't work, maybe I'll just drizzle chocolate over the meringue or just frost them with meringue. Anyway, I guess the cupcakes will taste decently if nothing else.

Carol and BigSis...you can get back on track! Carol, you don't want to go dumpster diving for those thrown-away clothes!! Or can you imagine having to buy them back from a thrift shop?? You'd be paying in more ways than one!

Michelle, yay for you for having a good dinner and exercising! I'm still not on that exercise bandwagon, I just joined a SP team today called "I Hate Exercise"... that says it all!

Connie, I hope your brother comes home for his baby's birth too. While it would be an amazing thing for you to witness, you can imagine how disappointed he would be. What a great sister you are to take this on!

OK, I'm a little nervous about my weigh in tomorrow. I ate half a cupcake tonight...what was that about? I think I still stayed in my calorie range because I only had 1212 calories all day before I ate it, but still. What I don't want to do is get on a slippery slope. To tell you the truth, I've noticed that I'm a little afraid of food these days and frankly, I like it that way. Although it was a fun and amazing meal, I was a bit surprised at how easy it was to eat that dinner out Friday night. Back to the drawing board, I just cooked my oatmeal for tomorrow morning and that usually helps me set the tone for the day. See you then!

Welcome to your No Cheat Wednesday! Everyone put on their boxing gloves to punch away those temptations!

Well, another pound down. I've been bouncing between 3-4 pounds now and finally am at the lower end, which makes me hope I can now bounce around between 3-4 lesser pounds...And I've FINALLY reached a goal! I started out at 242.5 (terrible, I know) and am now at 218, which not only means 24.5 pounds lost, but 10% of my body weight gone! I've been waiting for this for a couple of weeks, and am happy about it. Now on to the next 10%!

Susan: Don't take this the wrong way but 24.5 pounds is huge! I mean that in a good way! Why dont you go pick up a 25 pound bag of dog food or something. It's heavy! Congratulations!!

Guess I didn't look at the recipe for your high hats. I just used regular buttercream for mine and then the chocolate was melted with veg. oil I think. I froze the cupcake topped with bc and then dipped right into the pan that I melted the chocolate in (I think!) I want to say I used the recipe from martha stewart. if I come across it again I will let you know.

I tip toed onto the scale this morning. Like I said I had a bad weekend (and I havent really been keeping track since Friday! icon_redface.gif ) but I was amazed to see I was below 150 (149.2!) So hopefully that will be motivation to succeed with no cheat wednesday! I also went for a 3.2 mile run outside with my friend and it was SOOO much easier to have a friend. We talked the whole time (I didnt know if I would be able to talk while running) and it went by really fast.

I didnt make it to the gym this morning because 1. I ran last night and 2. I had to take my mom to the airport this morning at 5:15. Maybe if DH doesnt get home too late I could go for another jog outside tonight.

Here is what I used for chocolate. I didnt make the meringue buttercream or that chocolate cake recipe. It does look pretty similar to what you used though. I also realize that I dont think I made my buttercream THAT tall, so it was easier to dip!

Morning, everyone!

Susan, that's great, 24lbs! Keep up the good work!

Merissa, I am so sorry about the cake. Your cake is beautiful. One day I hope to be able to do such good work.

I have not been able to get on or post since this weekend. I had a post all ready on Monday and lost it when I hit the submit button and then the site went out on me, too.

My eating habits have worsened over the weekend and into this week.

Yesterday I had the day off so hubby and I went to Erie, PA. We walked around a bit there. We'd never been there so we decided to go. Nothing really there at all. We walked the downtiown to the lake and then went to the mall.

Today is Seccretaries Day, sorry Administrative Professionals Day. Who knows what might show up here food-wise. We are going out to breakfast at 9:00 this morning and lunch tomorrow. Does not make for a relaxing no cheat Wednesday or a very good weigh-in Thursday. My main theory, though, is that at least they remember.

Well, I probably should go and get some work done. I'll try to check back in later.

Suasan ~ Congrats on the milestone-that's wonderful! I hope you can fix the problems you're having with your cupcakes.

Otter ~ Happy Administrative Professionals Day! icon_biggrin.gif

SO last night my dad and I went to the Detroit Tigers' baseball game (we won! yay!), and I was sooooo worried that I was gonna eat something I shouldn't. I mean, all that they have is hot dogs, popcorn and cracker jack, it seems. BUT, I found a stand that sold fresh fruit plates, with pineapple, melon, and grapes. (For $9 though!) So I snacked on that during the game. I was so pleased wiht myself!

THis is way off subject, but do any of you watch Rachael Ray's daytime show? I have her on almost every day while I'm fixing dinner. So the other day she mentioned that Jergens skin glow lotion, it's kinda like a self tanner. And I am one of hteose girls that burn, peel, burn, peel...all summer, and NO tan. So I figured I'd give this lotion a try, not just to get a tanned look, but I know it's healthier that getting burned trying to GET one (what with all the causes of skin cancer and stuff).
I've been using it 5 days, and my hands are ORANGE. Apparantly you're supposed to wash your hands after each application...ugh. Lol....I hope it wears off before graduation next week. Lesson learned.
(I guess there was no point in that story, besides the sheer humor, lol)

Have a good No Cheat Wednesday!!!!!

Susan great job on your loss!!!! Keep up the great work.
Hope your cup cakes turned out ok.

It is no cheat Wednesday and I am so far on a roll. I had 1 1/2 pieces of wheat toast with reduced fat peanut butter.

I didnt get up to work out because I didnt sleep well last night, kept waking up. This means that not only do I have to do cardio, but I also have to strength train. In SP I am part of the 1 day challenge team and todays challenge is to add 15 min to my work out, so I need to do 45 min of cardio!!!!!!! Oh well it is one day and I can do it.

So that makes my no cheat Wednesday do 45 min cardio and strength train.

OK off to work guys.

Hello everyone,
I kept seeing this thread title but did not know what it was. Today when searching exercise it came up. How does one go about "joining" and how does this work?
I have not exercised (regulary) since I was in high school 13 years ago. I don't know where to start. I quit smoking 68 days ago. I have gained 14 lbs since then and I am miserable! I currently weigh 271 lbs. and my "ideal" weight is 150.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thank you SO much!
Diana
