HI Susan and Michelle! thanks for checking in...it was getting pretty quiet around here. congrats on your weight loss susan, that is awesome... is the 28 pounds in addition to the weight you lost last year?

I am determined not to quit, but I am finding the scale to be awfully stubborn. I actually GAINED a pound last week. I am really disappointed and getting a bit discouraged. I have lost about 3 pounds in one month, however that was the first week and a half. Then I didn't lose any...then I gained a pound. arg. sorry...just venting. I was in a dressing room today though and I was able to see myself from the back...not good. I think I look better from the front LOL! I guess that should be enough to keep me going.

Susan, Michelle, it is great to "see" you again.

Glad to hear that you are losing, Susan. I am sure that it has been quite an adjustment getting back to the good ole USA. I am sure it will get better if you stick at it.

Keep checking in, everyone. We are here to encourage you.

Thanks for the welcome back, it's great to see everyone.

Merissa, I'm really not getting slim because...the whole reason I had this surgery was because I'd gained back 20 pounds from the 40 I'd lost last year and just felt so discouraged because I could just envision myself gaining the every hard fought pound back. And I couldn't take that. So as of today I've lost 31 pounds since my surgery and am happy about that. But I still have about 60 to go, so I need to be vigilant. It's still hard...I could "cheat" the band by eating ice cream and I fight to not do that, so I see it solely as a tool and not a free pass, although there's no denying it has allowed me to do what I've done thus far and for that, I'm happy.

See you soon!

Hi everyone! I am getting better about my workouts and getting a handle on my food as well. I still have not gotten on that scale, I am really scared to!!! I think I will wait until after my trip to MN for my sisters birthday. Then I will be home again and able to concentrate on nothing else.

Susan so glad to hear from you again. I had been wondering about you! Glad to hear things are moving in the right direction for you. I dont blame you for not wanting to move again. The first one was such a doozy!! Hopefully this next year will be a bit more calm.

Merissa, I know how you feel about that darn scale. It was very stubborn with me which is why I slipped. I got tired of waiting for it to move, and one thing led to another....... Keep at it and dont let it get the better of you!!!

Sonia how are things going? I hope all is well.

Has anyone been hit with the swine flu? So far so lucky, I think my boyfriend had a bit of it a few weeks ago. He had a cold that sent him to bed for 3 days. Usually he can still function with a cold but this one had him on his back! He doesnt like doctors so didnt go, so we dont know what it was, but it was not the normal stuff!! So far I have not gotten what he had and hope I dont!

No swine flu here, Michelle, although my sister is pretty sure she had it.

I have not weighed myself this week. I haven't had time to exercise AT ALL, so I'm too scared to. You may remember I've been working at my kid's school 2 days a week, with the high school students, working them toward singing/instrumental performances in competition against other schools, well it all happened this week. My high schoolers performed on Tuesday, the younger ones (including my children) on Wednesday, and they all did track & field events on Thursday, so I've been out 3 days, (as well as 3 evenings), and I'm so tired! My singers didn't do all that well, but one of the girls I trained won the Instrumental champion. And one of my own sons was runner-up in Platform events.

Ok well I'm finally back in the game. Dropped 6 pounds just from adjusting my diet and getting rid of all the crap (so to speak... LOL!). I joined another site that's helping a ton actually, SparkPeople.com? Not sure if any of you are members or have heard of it, but the nutrition and fitness trackers are great. Plus it gives me a little bit of variety in my workouts. So I'm pretty happy! The forum layout is kinda crappy though...nothing like here! icon_wink.gif None the less, I'm pretty motivated at this point - specifically after I took my last measurements. So here we go again! LOL! thumbs_up.gif

Hi all
Well I have not been working out like I should, I have just gotten so lazy. I keep thinking that I am on vacation in 3 weeks so why start now, just wait until I get home. UGH so not good but I cant get myself motivated again!!!

Caike---I LOVE spark people. Again I have been very lazy and have not taken the time to log anything or get on my teams and chat.

I think I need a challenge, here where I can win something for being the biggest looser!!!

Anyway hope all is well with everyone. Have a great day

Wow, Caike, you're doing brilliantly!

I'm down by 1.3 today (that's for the last fortnight) to 156.9.

My DH & I are going away for the weekend on our own!! We haven't had a weekend without the kids for over 12 monts, so I'm pretty excited.

Merissa, when is your romantic weekend? It must be coming up soon.

Hi Ladies~
How is everyone? I'm fine, not much new. I'm struggling this week, I swear I don't think it ever gets easier. Why do we have to eat?! I don't have a particularly busy weekend, except I'm preparing for a cupcake tasting for my cousin next week; she's getting married in the spring. I've made chocolate chocolate chip and white almond so far and this weekend I'm making peanut butter, angel food, and lemon (all her choices). She'll choose 3, it's a small wedding, so it won't be too difficult.

What's new?

How fun Susan!!!
Not much new here either, except that I have slid down that slippery slope and have found that I have gained weight, stopped working out and not to mindful of what I eat!!!!

I worked out this morning, paid attention to what I ate for breakfast (not that I stopped myself) but at least I paid attention. I have to start at the begining again and take my baby steps to get back to where I was and keep going!

I dont think it does get easier, I believe for me at least it will be a life long struggle. I LOVE to eat too much!

Anyway hope everyone is doing well, and I hope I can post results (in the right direction) very soon!!

Wow, there seems to be a lot of back-sliding happening - me included!! I was doing so well, up until the weekend, when I went away with my DH for a romantic weekend, and we ate too much. I haven't been able to get out of the habit since. So I haven't weighed myself this week. It's also been hard this week because my kids have had a week off school, and I really don't get the opportunity to get out and exercise while they're home. I'll get back into it next week.

Morning all!

My computer is not working. I keep getting a message that says, "Internet Explorer is not working." I'm not able to check in, but everything is going well here.

I completely forgot about Sparkpeople. It is a great tool and very helpful. I have a friend at work who is finally ready to start losing weight after a huge scare a couple weeks ago. I think I will recommend that site to her.

Keep up the good work everyone, and keep good thoughts. We can do it!

I haven't had time to exercise this week. I've got a wedding cake on the go, plus 4 birthday cakes. I shouldn't have taken on that many, but I find it hard to say no. Can't wait for Saturday to be over!!!!

Hi guys! Sorry it has been so long. You know me, when I don't show up for awhile it means I am struggling! I have kept up with my exercise, but diet is just so-so. I think what I really need is some immediate results to keep me motivated. It is so hard when you diet and exercise religiously for weeks and see little improvement. I am thinking of upping my exercise to 4 days instead of 3. Maybe I just shouldnt even look at the scale for a month or something.

I have been keeping pretty busy with cakes lately, so that has been great. I am donating a gingerbread house to a local museum as decoration/fundraiser (they raffle them off). It was my first one! I am pretty pleased with myself actually. I will probably post it in the next couple of days.

ahhh...there was no romantic weekend. We actually spent our 10th anniversary carving pumpkins with the kids. I was thinking of maybe making a nice meal this weekend and celebrating after the kids go to bed. We do that from time to time, I make a special meal, we eat in front of the fireplace and drink wine...who needs to go out? Okay, well I still like to go out.

So how did the cupcake tasting go, Susan? Tastings like that are so much work!

I will try and keep up! Hope everyone is well

Hi everyone.
Well I have made 4 days in a row doing my morning workouts. I have decided to wait until after Thanksgiving to start worrying about my afternoon ones because I have things going on everyday after work and just wont get them in anyway. That way I wont get down on myself because I didnt fit it in.
I feel good I have kept up with my morning ones all week!!!
Good luck and have fun with your cakes both of you Merissa and Sonia!

Oh I made my sisters birthday cake a week ago. It was a red hat, I will post pictures soon here so you all can see it. It turned out so good!!!

Michelle, when is Thanksgiving?? Forgive my ignorance, but it's not something we celebrate here!! Is it held on the same day every year?? Can't wait to see your hat cake thumbs_up.gif

Merissa, we have a gingerbread house evening every December. We hold it in the hall in our church, and last year we had 54 people come! It was very busy. This year the lady that usually runs it is not well, so I've taken over as organiser....I hope I don't forget anything!!!! It's going to be on the 11th December.

I have not weighed myself this week. I tend to ignore the scales when I know I haven't lost anything. I started using weights last week, though, so I think I'm building muscle.

Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday (not sure if it is the 3rd or 4th of the month). It is such a wonderful day of overeating icon_redface.gif

Cant wait to hear how your gingerbread event goes, good luck organizing it!

yesterday I was feeling all motivated. So I was like "mabye I can work out once or twice a day for the next month!" *thinking maybe I would see some good results to get me going...especially becuase we are going to Florida for xmas this year* Now I am laughing at myself. ha ha ha icon_lol.gif lol ha ha icon_lol.gif . I did up my work outs to 4 days. Maybe I'll try 5 next week.

Your cake is awesome, Michelle!!

I'm back on track this week. I'm trying hard to stay off wheat again. It's just so hard to stick to, and gluten/wheat free products are so expensive! But I've got continual joint pains and days when I just feel like a walking zombie, and I really feel it's wheat doing it to me. I've really struggled today, though, because I'm feeling like I'm getting the flu as well, but so far I haven't cheated. I'm determined to be able to put on my bikini again this summer, which isn't far away!!!!

Hi, all!

I'm back for now. Hubby has the internet figured out right now. My weight is up and down by one or two pounds each week.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving (or not, Sonia). I was lucky enough to get the day off again this year. Also had Friday off, so I went shopping (didn't buy much, just the Christmas tree).

I'll check in soon.

Good morning everyone. I have been pretty good about my morning workouts. I do believe my afternoon ones are going to be very sporadic as I have so many things to do after work this whole month! But I will attempt to do them any day I go right home after work.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend (or a great normal weekend!!). I did go out on Black Friday! Went to Target got there around 3:30.....got what I wanted and got the heck out of there!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Not 3:30 am, Michelle? Was Target even one that opened that early? I would never go shopping that early, or rather, I would never get up that early just to go shopping.

It has gotten verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry slow at work and now I am worrying about even paying the bills, let alone any Christmas shopping. I also have to ship anything I buy out, so it has to be done soon if I am going to do it. I am sure I will be able to figure it out.

Well, talk to you later, all. Have a great night.

Yep 3:30 am. It didnt open until 5 but my friend went to Kohls which opened at 4. I was glad I got there that early, the line was wraped around the store and heading back towards the front by 5. I was able to get what I wanted so it was worth it.

I am sorry things are slow!!! I hope things pick up soon!!
