Good to hear from you, Merrissa! Glad everything is going well.

Customers have been much nicer recently. The mean ones are few and far between. I got home at about 11:30 today. It was really slow today. I made about 30% in tips, though, so it didn't matter much. I can sure use the rest.

Sonia, hope your dentist finds the problem with your teeth soon.

Thanks guys, but I'll just have to put up with the pain for a bt longer I think. I gave him $150 last week and can't afford any more at the moment.

Merissa, do you still run early in the morning before DH goes to work?? I don't manage to get any exercise done while my kids are home, and they are on their 8 week holiday at the moment. (only 2 to go!!) DH leaves home at 5.30 at the moment and I'm exhausted by the evening.

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks gluten free. I can't really say if I'm feeling better or not. I'm feeling like my pains are probably a bit better, but I'm not certain, so will stay on the diet for a bit longer and see what happens.

Hey, has anyone heard from Michelle or Susan lately??

I hope you get your tooth pain resolved soon! Is there another way to figure out if you are allergic to gluten beside just eliminating it? Maybe that requires costly procedures, I don't know. I'd hate to missing out on yummy gluten if it were something else causing me problems...LOL!

I hope you enjoyed your extra rest, Karen. 30% in tips is pretty good, right? I was a server once, and I was terrible. I think I could do it now though, with all my experience waiting on my family and multitasking. I was a lot younger at the time and only used to taking care of myself!

Yes, I do exercise in the morning. Usually my DH doesnt leave for work until 6:30 or 7, so I get work out for 45-60 minutes before he leaves. Otherwise I am just not sure I would do it. I can take my youngest to the activity center (it's not really a day care, because it isnt licensed) but I didnt like the way I was treated there one time, so I refuse to take him back.

Just an FYI, I am changing my user name from "merissa" to springlakecake, since it is my business name. No real reason, I just felt like it!

I thought we had a newbie, Merrissa. Change is good, and there doesn't have to be a reason for it, either.

The norm right now for tipping is 15%. I usually run about 20% to 30% in tips. Monday and Tuesday were phenonimal. Today was also pretty good. Unfortunately, by the time I go back on Saturday we will probably have a whole new group. Tips might not be so good then. Of course, there will be five of us there again, so we can be very busy and the customers will be spread out among so many that nobody will make any money. Like the other server said today, it is just too bad that we now make more on the weekedays than the weekends. Soon it will get busier anyway, what with spring break coming and we have spring training starting next month, too. As a matter of fact, I think I had a person from the Philadelphia Phillies organization in on Monday.

Seems like we've lost most of our members now. I think it is just the three of us now. At least for a while.

Well, I'm not doing terribly well at the moment. I think with 3 wedding cakes to do this month and my kids home on holiday, I've just been so busy, I haven't don't ANY exercise! And although I'm still sticking to a gluten free diet, I'm eating more than I should. Haven't weighed myself for over a week.

I'm here!

I've now been off gluten for over 6 weeks, and hardly notice my pains anymore. Last week I cheated and I really noticed my pains for the rest of the week. So it has been a very interesting discovery! Glad to get to the bottom of it, but a bit sad that I'm going to have to stick to gluten free if I want to be back to normal.

I'm back into my exercising now. Walking about 6 kilometers, 3 times a week, and this week I'm going to start my swimming again, probably twice a week.

Good to heasr from you, Sonia.

Glad that you are feeling better with the diet. You know, pretty soon you won't even miss what you are giving up, and there are new ways to make breads and so forth without gluten (rice flour and such). Good luck and keep up the good work.

We got a car about a week ago so I am no longer walking to work, but I am still doing a lot of walking at work. I am still waiting for the good weather to come so that I can spend some time outside.

The good weather shouldn't be far away - it's certainly starting to cool off here!!!

I really don't miss bread. Haven't had any for probably 6 months. It's the treats I miss - I'm a sweet tooth icon_redface.gif

Same here. Funny thing, I sometimes crave those stupid Hostess cupcakes with the fake cream filling in the middle. They really are disgusting if you think about it.

HI everyone. I guess I (again) lost track of our thread.

Must be nice to have gotten a car, Karen! congrats! The weather (for Florida) has been really cold this year hasnt it! We have actually had a pretty easy winter in Michigan. Definitely not so much snow as the last two years. The sun has been out the last few days and the snow is melting. It's going to get up to almost 50 next week. wow! Spring is on it's way!

Glad to hear your are feeling better, Sonia! That is an interesting discovery! Hope you identified the source of your problems.

I wish we could hear from some of the old members. I wonder what they are up to. Remember the one who had all the head aches? was it connie? I wonder if she is okay. And the one that had the baby? And of course Susan!

Anyway I took a big step yesterday and signed up for the Medical weight loss clinic. I think it started here in michigan, but there are clinics around the country. Anyway I start tomorrow with having some labs taken to check my blood for stuff. Then I have to go to a diet class to find out what I need to eat. For the next two weeks I need to go in 5 times a week....I KNOW!....bring in my food log and talk with someone. After the first 2 weeks, I only go 3 times a week. Basically I will be getting monitored frequently. I feel like maybe i need it for accountability. They said I should lose the weight (about 25 pounds) in 9-12 weeks. I am nervous! Then I will go on a maintenance program for 6 weeks. As long as I don't gain more than 10 pounds I can be a lifetime member and go in anytime I want for guidance. I'll let you all know how it is going!

Wow, that sounds like a big step, Merissa. It sounds like a diet my sister in law did. She was given food according to what the blood test said, and spent the next 6 months eating broccoli, rye crackers and lots of protein. I hope yours is more interesting!!!! You'll have to post a pic when you've lost the 25lb!!!!

I miss the other members too. Even Michelle has disappeared!

Hopefully I WILL be more interesting than that! I know you eat regular grocery store food and then you have to eat 3 of their foods a day (like snacks...shakes, bars, soups etc...I think this is how they are making the money!!) I think the point of the program is to teach you how to eat, so I don't think it is going to be too restrictive to "normal" food. I think mostly the blood test is to test for thyroid, cholesterol, sugar etc. I will let you know how it goes. I am excited this morning to get going! I tried out a new cake recipe monday so that i had a chance to eat it!!LOL

We used to have so many members! WE havent even gained any new ones. Oh well.

Looks like just the three of us for now. I do miss the activity we used to have here. I have been wondering about our former members, too.

I has been awfully cold for Florida here, butr we should be at the end of it. In no time I'll have to listen to everybody complaining about how hot it is. I like the heat.

Good luck with the diet. Hope that it works for you.

okay...well I am starving LOL! I have one more day to go on the "cleanse" part of the diet. Basically I can only have red meat, green raw vegetables, one orange, and egg and water. The red meat and green vegetables I can eat unlimited amounts, but I just cant eat pounds of beef. I like red meat fine, but I don't want several servings of it at one time! However, I have lost several pounds already. Tomorrow I start the "official" diet. There is certainly lots more foods to choose from that I like. However, it is definitely a commitment! They don't lay into the "rules" of the plan until they get you signed up LOL! I am ready for it, but I think it might be overwhelming to some and would scare some people off if they knew what they were getting themselves into!! I am excited though. It is nice to see some results right away to get myself in the mood. This morning I was 160.7. i havent seen the 150's in at least a year. Probably more. So hopefully by next week I will be there!!

How are you guys?? Any weekend plans??

No weekend plans except work. Spring break starts this week, so we are into our busy season. Hoping to make some money.

My weight is down from two years ago, but is not budging quickly and is just fluctuating between 140 to 145.

I think I give up.

I'd be pretty happy if I were down to 140-145! That's great if you are able to maintain it.

I was below 160 this morning fresh out of bed. I havent seen that in a least a year.

Hope you make some extra money this weekend! Good luck!

I was 160 this morning too, Merissa!! I know I could do better, though. I haven't been very good with exercising since summer started, and my weight has stayed about the same. I think it's due to the gluen free diet. So if I can get into a routine again, I think I'll be able to lose some more!!!!

Karen, I think you must look pretty good at 140ish icon_biggrin.gif

Not too bad, I guess. I've been about the same for about a year and a half now. It is just discouraging to lose all of those sizes and no actual pounds.

Well if you lost dress sizes and inches but not pounds, the only explanation I can think of is that you have lost fat but gained muscle. That's not such a bad thing!

I suppose so, but still, I wanted to lose some pounds. I guess it isn't so important but I don't want to be considered overweight. Of course, their weight standards are a bit skewed, I think.

I do hear ya on that! But honestly the way you look and feel is really the best measure of success. I know having something factual and concrete makes it seem more genuine, but you must be doing great.

This morning I was 159.2. So far in almost a week I have lost about 6 pounds. But I am sure I will slow way down from here. I always lose the most the first week. I just hope it is at least steady so I don't get discouraged!

It has been such a lovely week here for March! It has been sunny for more than a week (that is a lot for a Michigan winter!) We only saw the sun a few times the whole month of February. Funny thing is though that you don't realize you havent seen the sun until it comes out! You get used to the dreary weather. The kids have been off 1/2 days from school and a full day today due to parent teacher conferences. They have had a lot of fun playing outside. I gotta say I am happy that they will be back in school tomorrow though! LOL

I remember those days of being happy the kids are back in school.l

I tell you what, I never stop all day at work, so I have to be in pretty good shape, I suppose. I am fairly happy with my size, and if my weight won't go down, I guess I will be happy with that, too.

I'm 5'3". I guess the real problem is that I am starting to dwell on my age. Twice this year somebody has mentioned that I look like 39 or 40 years old. Doesn't make me feel too good.

20 questions...so how old are you??

I am going to be 35 this year. I am sort of dwelling on my age as well. I think that is a big reason I want to lose weight. I feel like I am just getting older and my opportunities to look "youthful" are diminishing! LOL, I am sure that is not true...but I do spend a lot of time examining wrinkles, squeezing love handles, and plucking out the stray grey hair!

I was dying gray hair in my 20's.

I am sorry, but I will not admit to that. I just had a birthday on the 25th, and am a bit sensitive about my age. But I am looking at wrinkles (that I am told are not there).
