Hi all

Great on the loss Sonia!!!

Susan, HP was very good, but there was a pivotal scene that was left out, well it was messed with and not complete. Because of this I was a bit disapointed, but it was still worth seeing. I do believe we will be seeing it again. It had quite a few funny scenes so I want to see it again so I can pick up things that I missed.

I have been slipping lately and need to get back into the swing of things. I have not gained, just my workouts have been sporadic at best these days.

Have a great day everyone.

How is everybody?? Things are pretty quiet here at the moment.... Would love to hear some updates icon_lol.gif

I've had a pretty tough weekend, because I've had the flu all weekend, along with my eldest son, and DH had it last week and is still getting over it. On top of that, I had my BIL, SIL, and their 2 kids staying (they are leaving the country in 2 weeks, for 3 years, so this was the last time we were going to see them) AND I had 2 cake orders. I guess the good news is I haven't had much of an appetite!

Wow, guess I am not the only one MIA! I have been thinking of everyone.

Two more weeks until schools is back in session for us. I feel like I can start to concentrate on myself a little more when I have s few minutes to myself. I am really excited to make some time for ME again. I will still have my youngest at home with me most of the time, but he will attend preschool 3 mornings a week. At least enough time for me to grocery shop or hit the gym icon_smile.gif

Havent been doing well with the weight loss. Again I am kind of hoping when I have some time to concentrate on myself I can get back into it. I am kind of thinking of joining weight watchers (maybe online) I don't know. I did do weight watchers like 8 or 9 years ago and I was successful. I just wonder if I am going to feel like figuring out "points" or not.

Well I hope to get back into touch with everyone! Hope you are all well!

Wow...am I EVER happy that a forum like this exists...

I'm just starting to get into the cake thing as a hobby for the time being, but I also am working on losing some weight. So every time I buy something new for cake baking/designing etc, I feel guilty because at times I feel like it doesn't contribute directly to my long term goal of losing weight. I used to be in amazing shape, and then as you all know a career and the whole "eating what you can when you can" thing gets in the way.

None the less, this September is the time for me to get back on the wagon and it's just nice to know that there are other people in the same situation as I am. icon_smile.gif

Welcome Caike, great to have a newbie! Hopefully we can encourage you to get back on track.

Glad to hear from you, Merissa, I've been lonely icon_cry.gif (Not only a lack of forum buddies, but my husband has been working away for 2 1/2 weeks icon_cry.gif He'll be back in a couple of days.

I've lost another .6 since I last posted. I was determined to have a noticeable loss by the time hubby got home, so I've done ok. (Just hope he notices icon_wink.gif )

Welcome Caike! We used to be a really strong group, lots of contributing, lots of goals, lots of tips and encouragement! Lately the group has been dwindling...myself definitely included! It would be great to have some new members to help cheer everyone on.

I have really been thinking a lot about how to go after weight loss this time around! I just keep failing! I think some kind of plan/program works best for me. I really hope with the kids going back to school that I can get on top of things.

That is great that you have been sucessful, Sonia!

Hi, all!

Welcome, Cakie!

I've been around just reading whatever posts there are (not many). I just don't seem to have much to contribute lately. Looks like I'll be having more time on my hands, though. Summer is over and so is "the season" at work. Today is an unplanned day off. I just hope that it is better than this for the most part. It does not help that they have started some road work outside the restaurnat that is supposed to continue until February. I think that they will be moving to directly in front of the restaurant within a week or so.

I am down another .6 pounds since posting last. My weigh in day might have to change, though. My days off have been changed from Thursday and Friday to Tuesday and Friday. I think that weigh in needs to be on Fridays now.

Talk to you all later. I'll make a concentrated effort to post more often.

Karen

Yay, glad to hear from you Karen!!
I have been doing lots of swimming the last few weeks. (Indoor heated pool - the weather's been shocking - can't wait for spring!!!!) That seems to be really helping me lose weight.

I've been swimming too! I was a swimmer for many years on summer and high school teams. I was pretty good too. I started wondering why I wasnt swimming when it was one of my strengths (exercise wise). I think though I'd like to mix it up between weights, swimming, jogging.

Sorry to hear you'll be slowing down work wise Karen. Seems like it would pick up as the weather turns cooler...no?

I love vacationing in Florida in the Fall!

How warm would you expect it to be in December? (I am talking Ft. Myers area). My DH and I were thinking of going down for Christmas Break and staying at my parents condo. I would be a little disappointed though if it wasnt warm enough to swim. Remember though...I am from MI, so I don't need for it to be 90 degrees to be warm enough for swimming LOL!

I have a question for you all. How does one go about tasting their work without going overboard? How do you guys do it?

For instance, I'm going to try SMBC for the first time...obviously I am going to want to "approve" it prior to slathering it all over my cake. icon_smile.gif What are your suggestions? Any tips would be great.

As for working out...I gotta get off my butt soon. Fall is almost here (favorite time of year!). I'm hoping that getting a back onto a day shift when I find a new job will help - these part time all over the map hours make it so tough. Willpower! icon_wink.gif

yeah, that is a problem for me. Unfortunately I don't know how to take one or two tastes and let it go. I don't think a lick or two would kill you, but it tends to go much more than that! Volunteers might be helpful (eg tasters) I was thinking of doing WW. I was wondering if I would be less likely to eat stuff like that so that I wouldnt have to figure out the points! Who knows.

I'm with the rest of you, no real ideas about tasting. Have you tried maybe having a small meal before baking so that you won't be so hungry? Doesn't work for me. I made cookies the other day and ate about four or five cookies worth BEFORE even baking them. I find that I can eat sweets/desserts on a full stomach.

Merissa, the weather down here in December is probably in the 60's. That is just an estimate. You could probably get onto the tourist site for Fort Myeres and get a better idea of temperatures. Winter does tend to be a bit more unpredictable. You can get a cold snap or a warm snap at any time.

We just got back from the dog park. Piper seems to enjoy going so much. Last week we missed going on both of my days off. There were a few other dogs there today and she got some of her energy worked off. She has quite a bit of energy, too. It is good for everyone to get out, though.

It sounds like you're enjoying Piper a lot, Karen! And I find having a dog tends to encourage me to get out and exercise too. She sits at the window and watches me very closely until I take her for a walk.

I haven't weighed myself for a while. I still swimming 4 or 5 times a week, but my eating hasn't been quite as good. I'll weigh in soon!

awww....60's isn't THAT warm! Oh well, maybe we'll still go anyway. My parents own condo in Ft. Myers. They say the ladies like the pool really warm anyway, so they keep hot. I was in Florida one year just after christmas and it was definitely cold. But I don't know if that was just a cold snap.

Boy sonia, 4 or 5 days a week is excellent! I actually have not worked out in 2 weeks! Yikes. I am definitely planning on getting back to it next week when the kids start up school. I did start weight watchers online on Tuesday. So far, so good. I paid for 3 months and got 4. So that will give me until January 1. I'll keep you updated on how it goes! I think I'll weigh in on Fridays from now on.

Sonia is you DH back from his trip yet?

How's everyone's caking going? I had a rough patch over the summer! Things just werent going like I wanted them too. I think heat and humidity were a problem at times. I had a good week last week though!

We are enjoying Piper. She is aggravating at times. She does keep us moving, though.

I haven't made a cake since moving down to Florida. First I didn't have a working oven and now my oven won't work right. On top of that my KA is still in storage in PA.

I have to start thinking about practicising for Mom and Dad's 50th next year. I was thinking about gumpaste flowers. It will be a fall party, so probably mums and fall flowers and foilage.

Yes, my DH came back on last Saturday, so he was away almost 3 weeks. We were all very excited to have him back. I told him I would not cope with another long time separated like that - it's the longest we've ever been apart!

My cakes are going well. I'm getting 3 or 4 orders every week, which at the moment is a bit hard to handle, while I'm working 2 days a week at the school and running a craft group at my church another day. But my job only lasts another 5 weeks and it will be finished, so I'm hanging out till then! I've just been asked by a business to provide them with a cake for each of their clients' birthdays, which at the moment is 22. I've done their first 3 within the last week.

I weighed myself thismorning, and am exactly the same as last week. I'm a little disappointed, after putting in so much exercise, but I must stop picking between meals. (and eating the cake scraps!!!!)

Hi Everyone,
Havn't checked in a while, but I havn't message alerts. Last I looked we were all MIA.
I too have been wondering about WW Never tried that one. I know my biggest problem right now is the bakery I work in. I have 0 willpower, although I am getting tired of seeing the same stuff everyday. Only been there 6 months so hopefully the temptation is only temporary.
Karen I didn't read all the latest posts, is your dog a new addition?
Sonia, you always seem so focused, I envy you. I love to swim, but with working 45 hrs a week now, I don't have alot of opportunity. Have a pool, but by the time I get home, the sun is only over the pool for a little while, then it seems too cold. Almost time to close it for the year.
I am looking forward to the kids going back to school.
My oldest, who lives out of state, has been here for going on 3 weeks, love having her, but that gives me 2 at home now. She leaves right after school starts, so hopefully I can get back my routine and focus.
Sorry so long.
Welcome Caike

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying the long Labor Day weekend!

Glad you checked in Lainalee! How is your job going? Making lots of cakes?

I have been doing weight watchers now almost a week! I actually have been enjoying it, and not finding it too difficult to say within my points range. It might be novel right now, but so far, so good. I like being able to splurge a little if I want or arrange my day around a certain meal or treat if I have to. Only time will tell if I can stick to it and if it is working!

We are going to the drive in tonight! I have never been before. There is one only a few miles from here! Taking the kids though so they are family friendly movies.

Only one more day before the kids go back to school!

How is your WW going, Merissa? Can you see a difference yet??

We have had non-stop rain here for about 6 weeks. But yesterday and today have been beautiful sunny days, and I'm jumping for joy!! Yay!! Spring has finally arrived!! I got out yesterday for a nice long walk, and a swim as well. Am hoping to do the same today.

That is a lot of rain! Glad to hear you have had nice weather!

I am doing great with WW so far! I actually really like it and I am in the groove. It might be the "newness" of it, but so far so good. I think I lost 2 pounds the first week, then I will weigh in again on Friday. So we will see! I will keep you updated! My 10 year anniversary is coming up in October. We might steal a weekend away without the kids, so I was trying to lose maybe about 2 pounds a week until then. That would be about a 12 pound loss that I am hoping for.
