All over her site now there are pictures missing, and that's after an almost complete redo yesterday. I hate to think that ALL those pictures were 'borrowed'. What a shame.

The wedding cakes she has up now look to all be similar, so one would assume they are all hers. They are decent cakes, but the quality of the photography is so poor that I would hesitate to use them. Maybe that's what she thought too, so she found other pictures that would help her website look better.

I understand that. It's wrong, but I get it. I'm just glad that there finally seems to be some resolution in the works.

I'm sorry to be so picky, but I'd love to taste the "Chocolate Mouse Bars" that are offered in the cafe...perhaps cute little Christmas mice? And I too can still pull up the pictures from the site, but the home page is blank.

The reason some people are still able to see those parts of the website is that they have the temporary cookies set on their browser. If you hit refresh, it'll adjust to the latest version. In the present state, it's "website cannot be found" etc.

Hee hee, the magical touch. You're funny.

Maybe it's because I opened the window with her site before she started making the changes. I would think it would refresh automatically, though. Maybe not.

And yes, I've heard that the most hits you get the better but she doesn't have one of those "visitors" counting thingies so... I don't know.

Of course, if by fixing we understand cropping....

I can see the "other" section now and your cake appears to finally be gone! At least that's over now. I still wish you would've gotten some type of response.

Yep, just hit refresh or "reload the page" and it should clear your cache. This happened to me yesterday as changes were being made yet I was getting the old page - then I realize I hadn't cleared my cache...in effect, your computer is just accessing the page as stored in your computer's memory, rather than accessing the real live page on the web.

OMG, do you see what's up there now? How offensive! icon_surprised.gif

So I clicked on "other cakes" and it showed ONLY the wedding dress shower cake really big, then I hit refresh and it has a very offensive image on there now.

In case she is reading, I would like to tell her:

Thank you for removing my cake picture from your website. I hope you can gain confidence in your own training and abilities, and feel comfortable posting your own work there. It is unfortunate that you are angry enough to post what you did at http://www.worksofartcakes.com/images/BSCAKE1.jpg, which is the exact address where my cake used to be. You can only be angry with yourself because you got caught.

How ironic that the stolen pics have been replaced with, among others, licensed character cakes! LOL! I know we have all discussed at length how nobody would ever really knock a fellow cc'er (or any other baker for that matter) for selling licensed character cakes, but that those bakers acknowledge the risks they are taking in case they get caught. Publishing them on your website increases your risk. If I was to sell those cakes (as if I could sell a cake), you can bet I'd do it on the sly.

The sad thing is we can't even call her attention to that now, with GOOD, helpful intentions, because she'd think we're just trying to find another way to trash her website.

Oh well, we really aren't here to pick that nit, and it isn't our problem, I just thought it was kind of amusing.

Instead we should all heave a great sigh of relief - even though she never had the decency to respond to your request personally, she DID not only get your pics off, but removed all of the pics that people here noticed did not belong to her.

LOL, edited to REMOVE this statement: "Best wishes to her for a successful cake company using her OWN work." Sorry, after that URL she changed, I don't wish her well at anything.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!

OK so much for giving anyone the benefit of the doubt. What a total jerk!

I never understand why people get so pissed off at OTHER people when THEY themselves are caught doing something wrong.

I don't say this often about anyone, but she's really an idiot. icon_evil.gif

I've been following this thread, and now all I can say is OMG.. .I was doing what arosstx was wanting, being patient and seeing where this went.

I did just go to her website and clicked on other cakes and how unprofessional and mature is that.

What if potential clients are actually looking at her site and see this..
Stunned is all I can say.

I'm glad she removed your picture, which by the way is in my favs, because I would love to try and recreate it.

Too bad she wasn't mature enough to apologize to you and everyone else, remove the pics and go on with her business.

You know after the SC thing I felt like I was among family... now my sister has been slighted.

I am betting most of all she is embarrassed over this because she was caught. She's probably mad because she's banned from here and can't be catty with us over it.

Not only was she caught from here but by CC memers noticing other cakes from around the USA and turned into them as well from what I remember reading.

As a former military wife I would like to say, the actions of one do not speak for all. Please do not let her taint the reputation of military life or military wives. She is one of the few spoiled apples in the bushell of military wives.

Justice served and that link... puthetic!

The best part is... she's stationed in Texas... I had 7 years in Hawaii... who's laughing now! (Don't get me wrong, Ft. Hood and Texas rock but compared to being stationed in Hawaii... need I say more?)

Wow. icon_surprised.gif And she got lucky, I've seen a few of the "stolen photo" threads where the person stealing the pics would get lots of calls and emails from concerned CC members.

We can only hope someone with an unlimited wedding cake budget was perusing her site at that moment, saw that childish pic and took their business elsewhere. icon_rolleyes.gificon_wink.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Audrey,
You have earned my respect for handling this situation the way you have. I followed this thread from the beginning and wanted to e-mail the decorator here in NC to tell her about her pic being on the site also....BUT, I didn't. I didn't do it because we have to be responsible for our own actions and this was YOUR battle. I decided if it did not get resolved, then, I would let the other lady know.
I was shocked by what she posted (the vulgar language)....bless her heart.....I will say a prayer for her.

I am SOOOO confused. Did she send that link to someone so they could go see that message? That pic isn't in the 2 galleries she still has on the website. Just curious how you get to a directory like that.

It also confuses me that she would post pics from CC members and give the link to her website on her member page. It seems like she wouldn't want anybody to go to her website. But I guess it worked for awhile.

And I am even more confused about why she is mad and being rude. I think just a simple explanation and I'm sorry would have done fine. But now by being like she is, it makes her look guilty - like she knew what she was doing and didn't care. But when you think about it, how could someone who was had that much training and won an award not know that it was wrong to copy someone else's picture.

Wasn't her price $1.95 yesterday?

I just happened to click on the "other cakes" section at the time that she had it linked directly to the dress cake photo. Then when I hit refresh, it brought up the vulgar image. It was only linked for a short period of time.

Arosstx, you're the best! At least we can be sure she won't get to be a part of this family of CC. Here we take care of each other.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Perhaps she's not that talented. Perhaps none of those pics are hers. Perhaps her work is not all that spectacular and that's why she only charges $1.95.

I agree totally with it being wrong to take someone elses work and post it as your own.

I do have a bit of a problem with the comments I have seen in regards to $1.95/serving for buttercream. Please remember that in some areas of the country that is what price we can get. I know a spectacular decorator here that charges less than that because of where she lives. That may be low for Texas but someone's talent and ability shouldn't be judged by their serving price.

just for the record, I had nothing to say about the price of her servings. I only charge $2/slice for wedding cakes here. I live way out in the country so can't really get very much more than that, especially since I'm still starting out. I will slowly raise my prices but for now, I'm at $2 and $2.25 for fondant.
