Ok I was so stuffed and tired when I got home I layed down on the couch and took a hour or so nap. So unlike me me icon_cry.gif But so much needed thumbs_up.gif My DS who just got out of the hospital a few days ago. Chose to stay home and her DH cooked a turkey. Last night she called and asked me if I had an extra pie in the freezer and I didn't. So she asked if I would bake her a pie for dessert ( she wanted one really bad) So duh I had to do the santa thing anyway and make things to take to our feast anyway what is one more thing right. icon_cry.gificon_lol.gif I got it done and went to bed at 5:30 and DD woke up at about 6 and was alittle considerate. She came in to say santa had come. but she would wait to dig into to her gifts. So at 8 she came in again. I got up to she her open them and went back and crashed for a few more hours before we took off to my aunts house. I am on my second wind know and everyone else is asleep. So I am getting caught up on CC. Her are some of the highlight of our feast. At least what I ate and remembered what was there.

We have a buffet style meal.
Of course TURKEY and ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked beans (a family tradtion for us) scalloped corn, rolls, Dressing and oyster dressing( EEWWW but DH loves it). Fluffy fruit salads ( a must for my DS) watergate, Moutian Dew salad, and a fruit salad done with miracile(SP) whip (that my mom makes).

We always have appitizers before hand. So while things are cooking you munch. There mysweet and sour meatballs( I can't go to a gathering without them LOL) BBQ weinies, wrappped weinies and BBQ wings, Chips and dips, taco roll-ups, deer sticks.

Desserts My butterscotch cake, moms apple and cherry pies, and scotharoos (SP) for the kiddos.

Hope your day was a great one thumbs_up.gif

Had a great Christmas! icon_biggrin.gif

Since the boys are both older now, DH (aka The Old Man) slept in yesterday until like 11:00. I didn't--I'm always up early, even if I get to bed LATE. I haven't slept longer than about 4 hours at a time in over 2 years. Don't know what's up with that, just can't sleep.

ANYWAY--he got up and I had cooked bacon, sausage links, biscuits, gravy, fruit salad and coffee/juice for brunch. That held us over through the day, and before the appetizers.

Rest of the day we munched on sweet/hot meatballs, sausage balls, bacon wrapped shrimp. We all opened our gifts about 3 pm. Then I cleaned the house and cooked dinner. DH went to get one of his buddies (this guy's so pitiful--he's like 50 something and lives at home with his mom and dad and works at the Krystal!!!! No girlfriend---no life. Yeah.)
So he brought him back home to eat with us. I always get him a carton of premium cigarettes and something like a shirt and cologne or whatever. I'm not sure he'd even have a wrapped gift if I didn't do that, so... icon_sad.gif

We had a nice day. The oldest son ended up leaving last night to go back to wherever it is he's been hiding out lately. He washed his clothes and showered while he was here, at least. GAH! icon_mad.gif

I used my new food processor (I'd been using one of those "mini choppers" forever icon_redface.gif ) to make the au gratin potatoes.

We had:

Honeybaked ham (my version---I make a copycat version of their glaze and fire it on) saves about $30!!
Au gratin potatoes
Sweet potato casserole
Corn pudding/scalloped corn
Fresh salad with ranchalian dressing
Hot crescent rolls
Carrot cake
Cheesecake
Rum cake
Iced tea
Champagne
Coffee
TUMS

KAY: WHEW! What a day! But you ate good, huh?!

MXPARK: I love tamales. OMG---soooo good. Just love 'em--but I ask my friend who makes them for us not to make them hot at all. Like no pepper heat, or just a pinch. The Old Man's stomach can't take it, and my tongue can't take it! Now the little one---he's a fire chaser. He'll eat hot peppers 'til he goes to the creek. He loves them too.

New York strip steaks (grilled outside in the rain)
fried shrimp
twice baked potatos
green beans
dinner rolls

DD had a chicken sandwich. DH had a ham and cheese omlet. I will probably have the same later. DH got a boneless ham and a turkey from work for Christmas gift. So today I took it to the grocery store and had them slice it up for me thumbs_up.gif It is going to get nasty here again in a few days icon_cry.gif So chili will be on the table at some point I am sure. I don't know about you all but I am still exhausted. Enjoying timme with DD playing her disney princess jr monopoly. She is alittle cheater though icon_lol.gif She acts like she is rolling the dice but doesn't really and gets the number she needs. The little TURKEY I called her on it a few times today. But the break has been better than I thought it would be so far. I need to get going on the goodies to give to my friends. Since I wasn't able to get them done for Christmas. They will get New Years baskets. In time for football watching icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif and parties party.gif

Ok I am still lazy today kind of(when it came to cooking) icon_razz.gif Today the kids had dentist appt. Then DD made me go to Wallyworld to spend her Christmas tips from paper route. The dang girl has so many clothes but guess what she bought?? 2 pairs of jeans and a sweater. Then she just had to have this clock that had jewels all around it. Now she owes me $5 cause she was alittle short. She wanted the jeans for Christmas and I chose not to get them cause she has tons of clothes icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif But it was her money so she got them.

Anyway DD had spagettios and a chicken sandwich. DH had ham sandwiches and sour cream chips. I have no clue. I don't want to cook icon_cry.gif But those fried potatoes and sausages have my mouth watering. Thanks Knox and monica for mentioning the tators today.

jackie I only have left over cake and meatballs and neither sound as appitizing as your dumplings. I made potato salad for our feast but I left the little bit that was left for later day munches for everyone that stayed later. I love left over tator salad on 2 pieces of bread like a sandwich YUMMY thumbs_up.gif

mkolmar and daltonam I am hoping we get the nasty weather here so I can stay inside in my jamies. This year I am stocked up on food and diet pepsi and beer. gotta have the beer after 2 days of being snowed in icon_razz.gif with DH and the kids icon_cry.gif

knox you deserved a few days of power lounging. It felt REAL GOOD DIDN"T IT icon_razz.gifthumbs_up.gif Well I hope you slow down alittle more before you go back to work.

Ohara BBQ chicken that sounds yummy I need to go take a chicken out of the freezer now to put in the crockpot. It will take a day or so to thaw though icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

mxpark Gotta love the little turkey cheaters. She went and told Daddy mom was cheating. So daddy gave me some shit about it icon_razz.gif He new all to well cause he plays yatzee with her icon_razz.gif So I am sure if we get snowed in there will be alot of cheating going on icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I hope your feeling better soon

maryak I could handle the hamb. patties but not into the cucs or tomatoes but my DH would totally love it. I didn't tell him what you were having cause he would say where's mine icon_razz.gif

Hey, Y'all! icon_smile.gif

I'm in the middle of 3 cheesecakes and a cell-phone birthday cake today. GAH! Sometimes I wish it was just like one cake at a time or something. But I know I should be careful what I wish for---because I like the $$ part of it when I have multiples!

KAY: Awwww....I would LOVE to have a little girl. DH and I had hoped for a girl with the youngest, but---he is just the sweetest thing and I wouldn't trade him for all the patent leather shiny shoes in the world. Sounds like she's just enchanting! You may be in for it BIG time with the girly-girl stuff. Or--she could totally change and become like a boyish-book worm, or worse---she could become gothic or punk! NO! I much prefer the girly-girls. They seem to have less trouble. Most of the ones I end up searching are the former! Good luck with girly-girl madness though! lol icon_biggrin.gif

MXPARK: You lucky girl. Red Lobster is my all time fave chain restaurant! I love their coconut shrimp and crablegs and scampi and...oh yeah! Daiquiris! But oh---your poor baby boy. I hope he gets better soon. Yeah--husbands are PROS at sleeping through the rough stuff. Mine is anyway. He's a great guy---he's an expert diaper changer, etc. But babies crying never did give him any breakage in the zzzzz's department.

MARYAK: HAVE WE WELCOMED YOU TO THE TABLE?? IF NOT---WELCOME TO THE TABLE!!! thumbs_up.gificon_smile.gif

JACKIE: Love Wally-world. Any time of year. But I hear you can get some great stuff after the holidays if you really look right.

MKOLMAR: I've done the "fast dresser" act, too. I think we all have. It's like---it's fine for THEM to like lay around all day examining their belly-button fuzz. But if they think we were power lounging, we're like lazy wives or something. Hmmph! And--if I get dressed in anything more than like my loose-bottom sweats or whatever---he's like, "Where you goin?" icon_twisted.gif

DALTONAM: Feels good, don't it Girl?? icon_razz.gif I figure like one or two days out of the month are "power lounging" days. THANKS TO KAY---I now have a new phrase to use! thumbs_up.gif

Tonight:

Meatloaf
Cheesy mashed up red potatoes
Steamed broccoli (The Old Man got me a veggie steamer for X-mas!) thumbs_up.gif

Well for dinner tonight I am cooking

Steak
Smoothered potatoes
Mac & Cheese
Corn on the cob

I love to cook and I was always raised where during the week my mom cooked dinner and the weekends if she didnt want to cook we ate junk or went out to eat. I am the same way the weekdays I like for my husband to be able to come home to a cooked meal and on the weekends when we have time we like to go out. I guess its a southern thing because alot of the people I know cook everyday. I want my children to be raised up to cook for there husband and my husbands family is the same way they cook every night but the weekends but he is also from Trinidad and the whole family gets together everynight for dinner.

So glad to see I'm not the only one here who does the quick dress act . icon_lol.gif

Tonight the kids had chiken nuggets and french fries from Wendy's and I'm making cajun chicken pasta for DH and I later tonight.

I really don't like shopping either and I hate going to the mall. My DH and my family says I would make a better boy than girl icon_cool.gif So then when I do dress up and look nice with my hair done (and I usually wear make-up) you would think I was a stranger to them icon_confused.gif I guess being a tom-boy never leaves you no matter what your age.

Have to go and make 2 cheesecakes now, my DH just told me 1 hour ago that he wants them for tomorrow icon_evil.gif (He's my worst client icon_lol.gif )
