no the are not life threatening unless allergic. I just have to wait it out until the poison runs its course.
Thanks everyone...sometimes just "talking" about it is enough to get me going. Last night I worked out while my son was in his tae kwon do class, I was on teh elliptical machine and could tell I hadn't used it in awhile.
Woke up this morning and I was back down to 145.6 lbs! ![]()
Tonight's exercise will consist of house cleaning and doing laundry ![]()
Wednesday and Thursday are my goal dates for going to the gym this week.
My goal is to be down 140 lbs when I go down to see my dad at the end of July.
Karate hope you feel better soon!
thanks m0use, seems lately that if it isnt one thing then it is another!!!! I will prevail and will wrap myself in bubble wrap so nothing else happens!!!!!
Oh no Michelle!! I'm sooo sorry!! Are you on any antibiotic or anything? That is really scary! Was the scorpion in your house? I've heard that they get in the house really easy. I would be wrapped in bubble wrap too!! That's scary! I hope your feeling better. How long does it take for the poison to get out of your body?
Pole dancing?? Wow! Maybe that's something that we should all take up! BrandisBaked... you might not have a man now but I can bet you will after you get in shape from pole dancing! ![]()
Good morning everyone
Way better today, I slept for about 11 hours yesterday.
Tina, they say it could be up to two weeks for the symptoms to wear off. Only my left flip off finger is numb in one place and the tip ultra sensative, everything else is back to normal.
I will be back to working out tomorrow, cant wait.
I would love to try the pole dancing, I think it would be a great work out. Keep us posted on how it goes.
onward and downward (the scale that is!!!!) everyone!
wow, i've missed quite a bit, pole dancing, scorpions, wow!! i have been feeling terrible lately and had to call my dr to go back on my lexapro (i have ppd). i am having a much better day today (so far). i had my weigh in today, though and i am 114.6! i was so excited to see that number, i almost fell over!!!
i won't be exercising today because it's about 100 degrees here (we don't usually get that hot) and so opressive it's unbearable. i'm sweating just sitting here.
i'm not sure if i want to keep writing down everything i eat and keeping track of my points, or just watch what i eat and keep exercising. i guess i will make a decision tonight.
i hope everyone is doing well/better and isn't suffering from the heat we are. take care.
jes
You go Jes!!!!
You reached your goal (it was 115 wasn't it?)!!! I'm proud for you. Maybe you should keep writing stuff down until you maintain your weight and see that all is working for you.
100 in CT??!! Goodness, I thought those of us in the South were the only ones that had to deal with the heat. We broke local records last week. It's finally back into the 90's this week.....
Hope everyone is doing good with the weight goals and workouts. I gained 2 pounds.
Oh well. I'll just try a bit harder.
I got under 145 lbs!
I weighed myself this am and I was 144.6 lbs.
I've gotten back on the watching what I eat train... and I've gone to the gym twice this week so far, and tonight I go again to take my son to tae kwon do class again since he doesn't have class at all next week.
I've lost 2 pounds this week so far, I'm so happy!
If I keep on this route I know I can get down to 140 by the end of July which is when I go see my dad in NC. It is EXTREMELY hot and muggy in NC around July/August and I want to be able to wear shorts without feeling too self-conscience about it.
It's so great to see people reaching their goals!!! I also really love seeing is when people are struggling with it - but still maintain a postive outlook and keep on trying. ![]()
Oh, and my pole ships out tomorrow - so I should have it sometime next week. I can't WAIT!!!
is anyone here doing the fat smash diet? for about a year i was taking diet pills but now im not getting paid like i should be and i havent been able to afford them. well you guessed since january i have gotten back up to 220!!!!!! i was reading about the fat smash diet by dr ian smith and it seems like it would be a good way to go. its something you could possibly do for life its not a diet perse except for the first few phases. by the last phase its maintenance and how you should eat for life. they use his diet on celebrity fit club which i love. anyways if anyone has tried this let me know what you thought.
Can't say that I have but I really enjoy doing the "Biggest Loser" Diet plan. Very easy to follow and a great book to read.
The simple plan to follow without the calorie count portion is this:
Breakfast: 1/2 protein serving, 1 whole grain serving, 1 fruit serving
Snack: 1/2 protein serving, 1 fruit serving
Lunch: 1 protein serving, 1/2 whole grain serving, 1 vegetable serving
Snack: 1/2 protein serving, 1 fruit serving
Dinner: 1/2 protein serving, 1/2 whole grain serving, 2 vegetable servings
Protein can be dairy or meat, IE string cheese is a dairy protein.
This week I've been having string cheese and fresh strawberries for a snack almost every morning.
Now when I follow this diet along with exercise I slowly loose the weight and I feel great.
Also, my family has been very good at eating the healthier stuff with me.
Switch out regular spaghetti with whole wheat spaghetti.
Switch out regular flour torillas with whole wheat tortillas.
Buy Honey Whole Wheat bread if you can't stand regular whole wheat bread. Also, try to make it a bread that is not chock full of perservatives. For example, I used to buy Sara Lee Honey Whole Wheat, I now buy a brand made by Natural Ovens that is preservative free, all natural, full of Omega 3. It costs more and the loaf is not as big, but it tastes better and fills you up better.
Susan, I've never heard of the Fat Smash Diet but I'm on The Sugar Busters Diet and so far I like it! I started the day after Memorial Day and I've lost 14 pounds. It's basically a diabetic diet. I cut out refined sugar and refined flours. I eat whole wheat instead of white breads and pastas and buy things with no added sugars. When I need something sweet, I'll have something with artificial sweeters like ice cream with no added sugar. Or sugar free pudding with sugar free Cool Whip, it's actually really good! Anyway, if you're at all interested in it, feel free to ask me about it!
Good luck everybody! Have a great day!
Karate- OUCH! How did you get bit by one of those???
Brandisbaked- Pole dancing??? You go girl! My hubby would love if I took up some of that! ![]()
TC-I drink TONS of water, that's all I drink! Thanks for the advice tho, I need all I can get!
Anna- Where are you????????
im going to buy the book this weekend. the more i read about it online the more i like it. so we will see.

You know, I think Dr. Ian's diet is a good one, I love celebrity fit club too and been thinking about getting his book. I've lost a total of 40 pounds now doing the low-fat, no sugars or bread except sugar free desserts and whole grain breads (which I hate ..yuck! I have to toast it before I eat it!
) I eat lots of fresh fruit and veggies. ...But I've kind of hit a spot where I'm not losing.
So I thought maybe his book could help me get over this hump. I think with any diet it is very important to exercise, it's really hard to find the time with small children at home, but I use some exercise tapes from Denise Austin. I do a lot of walking and sometimes I take Maddie with me in the stroller and it gives a little more calorie burning power pushing the stroller. When you get the book let me know what you think about it.
Hey TC!!! What are you doing girl??
Hi Carol!! How are you doing??
What up flava!!!
HI Mouse!!!
I haven't been here in along time so I was wondering if everyone could update me on what their total weight loss is??
So far I've lost 40. I still have 10 pounds to go to meet my goal weight and they have proven to be the hardest to get off! ![]()
It's great to talk to everyone again!!
Denise!!!!! What up girlfriend?!?!?!? I haven't seen you around in forever!!!!!!!!!!! Holy crap, 40 lbs?!?!?! I'm sooooo jealous, you go girl!!
Denise great job on loosing 40 pounds!
I got on the scale for the first time in about a month and I have gained 3 pounds. I am OK with that since I havent worked out is about a month.
Back to the grind, the effects of the scorpion sting are almost gone now. Just some numbness on the finger that was stung.
woo hoo got up and worked out this morning. I am so glad and it felt soo good. I have also noticed that my testing numbers have gone up too. I better get back to it before I loose the ground that I gained!
How is everyone else doing?
Went back up a pound, but considering I ate really bad Friday and I don't stick to my diet really good over the weekend, that's not too bad.
I'm just going to keep at it since I know it didn't come on overnight, I ain't going to loose it overnight.
But I'm happy because I'm also loosing inches...I'm finally starting to loose the weight in my face, my double chin is going away ![]()
I'm now going to concentrate on my core and getting my sides and stomach area toned up. That way I feel more comfortable wearing a two piece around my dad and step mom when I go to visit them at the end of the month.
Dang!! I didn't get any notification that there were replies to this thread! ![]()
Thank you so much karate and flava!!! It's taken me 21 weeks to get 40 pounds off!!
I hate that it's going sooo slow now! I'm only losing about a pound every two weeks now so I think I'm going to have to change up my routine to kick start my metabolism.
HOLY COW karate!!!! You had a scorpion sting you?? ![]()

Thank you so much karate and flava!!! It's taken me 21 weeks to get 40 pounds off!!
HOLY COW karate!!!! You had a scorpion sting you??
Great job on the workout this morning karate!!
DENISE THAT IS GREAT THAT YOU LOST 40LBS. WHAT DID YOU DO? I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS THREAD FOR A FEW MONTHS. I NEED TO GET OFF MY BUTT AND BACK TO WALKING AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO WALK THREE MILES EVERY MORNING BUT I HAVE BEEN SLACKING LATELY.
Denise, I'm soooo proud of you!!! I've been wondering where you've been, I haven't seen you on myspace either! Glad it was just the computer crashing! 40 lbs is 40 lbs no matter how long it took you to lose it!!! Just look at it like this... you've kept it off for 21 weeks!! EXCELLENT!!! ![]()
Denise - you and your hottie avatar have been missed. Congrats on the 40 pounds! That's awesome! Plateau or not, you've got to be so psyched and proud of yourself. Share your secrets!!!
Wow!! Thank you guys sooo much!! I have missed everyone soooo much!! It's great to be back!! Now if I could get these boys out of all their sports, I would have more time for the computer!!
They have me running and doing something everyday!!! ![]()
Susan, I wish we did live closer so we could be workout buddies! It makes it so much better when you have someone there with you going through the same thing. You know, we went down into TN Saturday and I looked for the book in the bookstores at the mall and they didn't have it either. So I'm going to check out ebay later today and see if I can find it there or at Amazon.com
TC, you always make me feel so much better!! I love ya girl!! You keep us motivated!!
Carol! Oh my gosh!! I didn't know you lived in St. Louis!! We were there about a month ago on vacation! We had a blast! I want to come back soon!! If I knew you were there, I would have given you a hollar!!
Carol and Katie, I did it with a low-fat, no sweets and wheat bread. I eat like six small meals a day with lots of raw veggies and fruit. I really think the key to any diet is exercise. That has been the big advantage for me. Walking, doing a little running, doing a workout tape at home (I don't like going to a gym) Denise Austin has some really great tapes. I'll turn on a music CD and my little girl and I will dance. She's 2 and she'll say "I shake booty" ![]()

Jumping rope is a great way to burn calories, but I don't like doing it! ![]()

Good Morning all
I have not been getting the notifications lately either.
I got up and worked out this morning again, it felt sooo good. I am off work tomorrow but plan on working out and doing some house cleaning which should burn off some calories!
Denise - where were you in St Louis? I'm in Ballwin which is a suburb to the west of the city. What did you do while you were here?
Hey Carol!!
We stayed in a motel next to Six Flags in Eureka (sp?). We got there on a Friday and spent all day at the Zoo. I love it!! It was the best zoo ever!! We spent all day at Six Flags on Saturday. I was sooo tired when we got back to our room and I just fell out! lol Sunday we went to Bush Stadium, the City Mueum and the arch WOW!! You just don't realize how huge it is till you see it in person. After that we went and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe. Maddie loved feeding the koi out back...I bet I spent $5.00 in the fish food machine so she could feed them.
Then that night we took the boys to see WWE Judgement Day pay-preview special at Scottstrade Center. Oh my gosh, that was their favorite part of the whole trip! Clay, my youngest son, found out that John Cena had ate at the Hard Rock Saturday night and he was sooo mad because he missed him!! ![]()
Everyone was super nice there!! I really loved it and we'll be coming back soon!!
Denise - you guys sure packed it in! How old are your kids? Next time, depending on how old they are, try the Magic House in Kirkwood. You could spend a good portion of the day there. It's a lot of fun and always ranks high on Zagat's list of family attractions.
The zoo is awesome . . . I'm always shocked when I go to another city and pay big bucks to get into their zoo and find out they're just small exhibits. I think our zoo is pretty big and the fact that it's free still amazes me. Of course, they get you with the parking (so we always park on the street) and the food once you're inside.
We actually live pretty close to Eureka. We're about 15-20 minutes from Six Flags. Though, I haven't been since high school. This summer is the year we need to take the boys (they're 4 and almost 3 so they'd like the kiddie park, I think).
Funny - I never think of St. Louis as a vacation destination (probably because I live here) but when I sit and think about it, there's a lot to do here! Unfortunately, we don't have any great cake stores. We have a few good ones (Sallie's Cake and Candy Supply Store and Karen Anne's and then another place but I can't think of it) but they're all on the small side and while they have a lot more than Michael's or Hobby Lobby, they just don't have a lot of the specialty items. But I always like to hit the cake stores when i go somewhere else.
Well darn, I wish I knew you were that close and we could have went to lunch. ![]()
My boys are 16, 14, 11 and my little girl is 2. She and I rode on the tea cups, she loved it...but I didn't make it spin...lol She loved the carousel at the zoo and six flags. She wouldn't get her picture made with the cartoon characters at Six Flags though...lol I would have loved for her too!
We wanted to go to the Magic House but we just ran out of time..lol I would have loved to stay for a week! Their is really a lot of great things to do there...I grew up down here on the lake and people travel from all over the US to come here and I'm like WHY?? ![]()
Ok, I got my pole yesterday... and it's now up in my bedroom. I'm still waiting on the video though, so I'm left to my own devices with it. Just fooling around on it, I realize that it's going to be a LOT of work! You have go get strong to use this thing!
I had gotten quotes on large mirrors to install in front of the pole - and thought $800 was just a TAD too much, so I went on Craigslist and found some mirrored closet doors for $20 and I'm going to remove the mirrors and mount them on the wall. I've also ordered some knee pads and jazz shoes (to help with the bruising and rug burns - yikes!) I can't wait to get the video and learn some tricks! Wheeeeeeeee!
I plan on doing weekly updates on YouTube of my progress - but I'm not going to post the link here (I have stalkers). When I start doing it, if anyone is interested in watching me fall on my butt, just send me a PM. LOL!
