Daisies & Blue Marble Cake
This wedding cake was a lot of "firsts" for me! Made the topper from a styro ball cut in half and covered in fondant, gumpaste daisies and leaves and the inside was a crazy marbled vanilla cake using her wedding colours of deep blue! Never done that for a client before, but I practiced to get the shade right on some cupcakes. Had to go a LOT darker, almost black, to get it to bake to the right shade of blue inside.

Bridal Shower Assortment
A customer throwing a bridal shower this Sunday asked me to copy her really cute paper plate/napkin designs for an order of cookies. I loved, loved, loved the funky little gown, tux, flowers, doves, cake, etc...all of them! I did a little improvisational work on them, just to make them easier. Some were a bit complex. Glad she mailed me an actual napkin, as the colours were really different from the computer pic she sent. I thought the tuxes were blue, but they were gray in person. The gown also has tiny pink specks in it that I couldn't see. Did 70+ of them for her. Shipped them out this morning. Can't wait for her to see them!

Bathroom Cake
Did this for a friend at work who kept telling people all month that "all she wants for her birthday is for her bathroom renovations to be completed." They weren't. We gave her this instead. Bathtub made of RKT pressed into a loaf pan, carved and covered in fondant. "Impaled" on 4 wooden dowels hidden in the legs. Bubbles around the rubber duck are tapioca! Had fun with this. Super-easy to make, but wish I'd had time to do a little "soap on a rope", curved shower head, shampoo bottles, etc. I'd made piping gel for the water and left it in the saucepan on the stove to cool down, but hubby threw it out when he was doing my dishes. Used blue buttercream instead. Couldn't be mad at him.

Beatles "yellow Submarine" & "white Album" Cakes
Two very different cakes being posted here. Got a very fun, colourful order from a chef at a local restaurant here asking for a cake for a Beatles-themed party. I offered her an option of going with something that was bright and playful like the "Yellow Submarine" type era....or something minimalist and classic like the "White Album" era. She got excited and chose both, plus wanted cookies for guests as well. Score! Did these two cakes for her. This is the first one. The "let it be" cake is VERY inspired by a Beatles birthday cake from my friend Lisa at www.flourconfections.ca . (Thanks, Lisa!) The "yellow submarine" cake is VERY inspired by that famous blue Beatles cake plastered all over the internet from the cake show at the Travis County Expo Center, Austin, Texas. (I STILL can't find the baker of that one, wth?! ) Many thanks to member di55 for posting a pic of some Beatles cookies she did because that helped me to come up with my designs too. (I loved her yellow submarines!)

Giant Cupcake For Wedding
Made this for my friend, a Canadian chef marrying his American restaurant hostess wife. He asked me to make him as a beaver and her as an eagle to represent their countries. I decided to buy modelling clay instead of trying to do this in gumpaste or fondant. I'd never done much figurine sculpting before, but it wasn't that hard I guess. Pretty fun. (It did only take 2 hours to make the cake but about 5 hours to make the figurines though, so I guess I know my forte, haha!) Used my new Wilton Giant Cupcake pan for it, SO much easier than carving. Great purchase. I covered the base of the cupcake in chocolate fondant and did the top portion in buttercream. The cherry is fondant too.

Beaded Trim And Bling Cake
Nerve-wracking cake? Oh YES! This baby stood an enormous 43" tall! I'm 6 feet tall and I had to strain myself to get the top tier on all the way up there. The bride's stipulations were that it be sparkly and would have "bling" to it when the lights were low and the candles were lit around it. When I researched the crystal ribbon, I couldn't find anything remotely similar for a reasonable price online. Most out there were $30-$90 per yard....and I needed 6 yards of it! Yikes. Went to my local fabric store and found this clear beaded one (intended for curtains or pillows or something?) for a much more reasonable price. I think it worked pretty well. Found some deep purple sequined ribbon for around each tier too, which matched her colours. She provided the excellent deep purple/green monogram topper from Toppers With Glitz. Cakes were 6"/8"/10"/12" in Tahitian Vanilla and Red Velvet alternating tiers.

Black & Red Baby Shower
I KNOW! How different is that?! Gotta love this client. Knew exactly what she wanted, chose fun colours, didn't want pastel baby blue at her shower (it's a boy)....so I threw in a bunch of onesies for her order, just as a thanks for being awesome. The designs are nothing different, just some fun colours, that's all....

Coach Purse Cake For Shower
This was WAY too big for only 25-30 slices! I made it 15" long, 8" tall and 7" wide...doh! Client was pretty pushy about her low budget and I really lost $$ giving this to her, so I skimed pn the detailing a bit. (Hadn't promised exact replica by any means!) Special thanks to Meimy for posting her GORGEOUS purse cake on here, I took much inspiration from hers.
