Marlows Tavern Cake
I did this one last week as a display to help promote the upcoming Americas Cake and Sugarcraft show that will be coming to Orlando this September. I used pictures sent to me by the manager to make each item from the cake board which mimicked the table tops to the top tier which was an interpretation of their event candle holders. I loved the freedom this cake allowed me and overall was very happy with the outcome. My only regret would be that I did not actually even see the restaurant first and know where the display was going to set up. Some of my colors were a little off as the pictures that were sent were not spot on with color and the fact that the cake sits in front of an open window in the middle of summer in hot and humid Florida has now just about killed my cake as I was not aware of this til drop off. Great lessoned learned.

Elegant Retro Wedding Cake
I did this cake last august for DIY wedding magazine. The only inspiration I was given was a color palette of yellows and oranges and this design had been something that had been in my head for a while so I quickly made sure it was the focal point of my design. I knew many would hate it but not every bride wants that pale colored pretty cake, more and more these days people are wanting their cakes to make a statement about who they are. For me this says bold, sexy and very free spirited. Many modern brides would love to have this retro piece as their wedding cake I think, so this one is for those who want to show their more fun bright side. I hope you like it.

Retro Celebration Cake
My hubby asked me to do a cake for his work thanksgiving party so I jumped at the chance to do something that not many of you may know I like but that is bold retro prints. I am still really new to them and how to pull them off perfectly but free reign cakes are always a good place to try them out. I really would have liked to have used some different colors but seeing as the occasion I thought these were the most fitting colors. Top layer was suppose to be pretty plain but in the 3 years I have been doing cakes today was not a great day for cakes as the moisture content in the air was off the charts and made my cake absolutely untouchable due to sweating. So no nice crisp edges for my top tier. So I decided to change it up a bit and put some stripes with a ribbed print to give the illusion of a sharp top and some extra contrast. The orange flowers are silk but white one is sugar. All my flowers that I had made all sagged due to humidity so I could not use them :(. Bottom tier is chocolate ganache with fondant accents.

4 Square Tiered Bling Wedding Cake
Here is one I was so loving but dreeding. My first ever 4 tiered wedding cake but also first square tiered as well as first hand piped caked even though the piping was very minimal. I had never covered a square tier ever in my life until this day. Scary as heck but at the end of the day you just have to believe in yourself and what you have learnt over the time you have been decorating, and that is all I did. Bottom tier is choc cake with thin mint buttercream, second tier is French Vanilla with oreo buttercream and third and top tier are choc cake with cookie dough filling. All of these flavors were of brides request. I loved doing this cake so much but definitely scary as I have never done so much of this cake before. I even stripped second to bottom tier at 10am day of wedding as I was not happy with the fondant and re-did it!

Dr Seuss Cat In The Hat Cake
I was not sure if this was going to be one I would love but once I started I just adored this cake. It was so much fun and I took a lot of different elements from many cakes as I was given an inspiration cake to go off of but did not want to copy. I wish I could have been a little more original but honestly I just really love the way this one turned out. Hat is cake, fish bowl is styro and all other elements are gumpaste and fondant! Happy birthday sweet Akshar !!!!!

Pretty Pink And Silver Girls Birthday Cake
Finally I get a girlie cake with free reign and my mind goes blank the day I have to decorate. I had all these fabulous ideas and then when it came time they had all vanished, aaargh! Please tell me I am not the only one this happens too. This is why I need to start sketching my cakes again. I used to do it religiously but have not for a while but I think this has confirmed I need too. Over all though I am pretty happy with how it turned out. They wanted these specific colors used and a bow and or letter or age on top. You guys know I cannot help but texturize so that top tier was easy but when it came to the bottom tier I was lost and I did not want to go with the norm which is ruffles or petals. I like to push myself more in new concepts and wanted something a little modern. I think the bottom tier still needs some tweaking in the future though. I think something is still missing. Anyways we are always our biggest critics, lol

Icing Smiles Ninja Turtles Cake
Every time I get asked to do an icing smiles cake I feel so privileged. Here is my forth contribution to this wonderful organization for a happy little guy called Jeremy. His brother has just a had a liver transplant and is finally doing very well. I think it is wonderful that we also get to give to the siblings. So often they are asked to sacrifice so much for the sick child that I think they deserve these cakes just as much. I wanted to be unique but with so much stuff on my plate right now I did not get to do the actual design I would have liked. But I still tried to be somewhat original with the top tier and also using square tiers. The entire family came to pick it up and they all loved it, even better Jeremy thought it was the best cake he had ever seen. You gotta love what you do when you get to see smiles as big as the ones I saw today.

Cockatoo Carnival Cake
I did this cake for a Carnival collaboration a few months back. My inspiration picks had a gorgeous float in it with this gigantic Cockatoo on it. Coming from Australia and ha these birds around my whole life I was instantly pulled to it. I also incorporated the colors from the costumes and accents from the float to bring it all together. hope you all enjoy this one as much as I did making it!

Dogwood Flower Cake
I love it when you get total free reign on a design. The only request on this cake was flavor and that it included dogwood flowers. I never get asked for flowers so as scared to make them as I was I was so excited to finally get to do a cake that was different than my usual requests. Textured tier on top with a airbrushed stencil on bottom. The stenciling did not quite turn out as cleanly as I had hopes but the uninformed color really grew on me so I left it that way which my client also really loved as she is an artist so liked that it was not perfect. For a first time with wired flowers I am actually really happy with how they turned out as well.

Sweet 16 Paris Theme Birthday Cake
I wanted to do something a little different than others I have seen so I went with more of a "can-Can" dancers feel for this cake. So I used my spellbinders machine to cut out the fishnet stockings on bottom tier and then incorporated ruffles for the skirt and cameo for the necklace.

3D Stokke Baby Carrier Baby Shower Cake
This cake was big at 18" long and 12" tall. I used 3 sheet cakes , a 10" and 8" round cake. Umbrella and hood were both made out of pastillage. Bottles and blankets were entirely fondant and no molds used all hand done. The husband did all the designing of this cake all the way down to a computer sketch.

Sugar Geeks Steampunk Claboration 2015 Crocodile / Alligator
Here is my steampunk crocodile/ alligator I did for the Sugar geeks steampunk collaboration 2015. It was so much fun. I used gelatin on the board to give a real water effect then sat him real close to the edge of my pool and took some pics with he water in the back ground then used photoshop to blend the 2 waters together to make it look like he is really in the water. I made all the molds myself and used many unusual items for some of the effects. Love the way it turned out.
