Retro Celebration Cake

Retro Celebration Cake on Cake Central

My hubby asked me to do a cake for his work thanksgiving party so I jumped at the chance to do something that not many of you may know I like but that is bold retro prints. I am still really new to them and how to pull them off perfectly but free reign cakes are always a good place to try them out. I really would have liked to have used some different colors but seeing as the occasion I thought these were the most fitting colors.

Top layer was suppose to be pretty plain but in the 3 years I have been doing cakes today was not a great day for cakes as the moisture content in the air was off the charts and made my cake absolutely untouchable due to sweating. So no nice crisp edges for my top tier. So I decided to change it up a bit and put some stripes with a ribbed print to give the illusion of a sharp top and some extra contrast. The orange flowers are silk but white one is sugar. All my flowers that I had made all sagged due to humidity so I could not use them :(. Bottom tier is chocolate ganache with fondant accents.

The retro patterns went perfectly with the retro colors! My grandparents had a couch with the exact same colors in it. VERY retro! I love it!!! Gorgeous flowers!
