Juicy Couture Purse Ii
This is very much like a previous Juicy purse I made...however I really like how they requested the logo to include her message (my brother did that for me on the computer!). I also shortened the handles, maybe too much, but they were more sturdy this way. I also messed up the filling on this one and had to, last minute, include a free 8" cake in the correct flavor.

United Center Bulls
I have been nervous about this cake for awhile! Customer sent me a similar idea, but the Lakers Stadium. Wanted the United Center and Bulls. (Kinda funny...we are in Philly but doing the United Center during the HOCKEY championship, for the BULLS. ha.) The ball is styrofoam/fondant but the rest is cake and fondant. Lettering on the top is done freehand (copying a font) because I couldn't get it to transfer cleanly. Glad this is done! Serves about 60-65 (they ordered 50...oops!)

Cookie Monster Cake And Cookie
This is a little cake (12" cookie) that I did for a client's child for free, as he just got through open heart surgery. He's had a hard little life for a three year old, health-wise, and I just wanted to cheer him up a bit. He loves cookie monster so I came up with this, but made the biggest part a chocolate chip cookie just so it would be easier to eat and share with nurses or whatever. The cookie monster part is cake and buttercream, with fondant eyes.

Bridal Shower
This is a bridal shower I put on this weekend and the cakes were my gift. Actually the stands are my gift too! They are pillar candle holders from Target, and then stoneware plates from Walmart. And I added the ribbon. I had the worst time trying to come up with a design (didn't want them to match the wedding cake) so I did it as I went, and I wasn't really pleased with how they turned out but nobody knew what was in my head so they liked them fine. The smaller cake is the one that got the air bubble, but it waited until after I served to bulge, thankfully.

Louis Vuitton Clutch
I'm really not excited about this week's cakes. This was a clutch, its basically "life size" to scale of a real one. I had alot of trouble with my fondant because of all the color I kneaded into it, it got way too soft...and then while doing the embossing it ruined the smooth finish of the fondant and it ended up with a somewhat "quilted" look and I wasn't pleased with that. Plus my photography stunk this weekend. haha. Oh well....win some, lose some. Oh...in person, this looks more "violet" rather than bluish.

Ladybug
I asked the customer if she wanted a realistic ladybug, or a "cute" one and she said mostly realistic but a little cute. So...I tried to make it fairly realistic, but not so much so where there's ugly mouthpiece things on the front, or eyes, or textured legs or underwings or anything...but its probably more realistic than a regular girly ladybug would look. Okay minus the glitter. haha. You'd be surprised how many ways one can make a ladybug!

Buttercream Stenciled Squares
I really don't like this cake. :-) The customer requested it to match the invitation, which had borders of the pink and egg yellow, and then a gold design in the background. She wanted buttercream instead of fondant. I do terrible icing a cake with crusting buttercream, especially squares, which in turn made the ribbon difficult to lie flat. Oh well. Hopefully she will like it okay. She didn't want any toppers or anything, just plain.

Celtic Heart
Did this one, actually for a pretty small wedding reception but the bride ordered the top tier for their anniversary, and then the middle tier is actually divided down the center (cut on the inside! Scored on the outside...extra board as well, cut, ready to box up) to signify the two families joining in marriage, and the inlaws will each take a half home. She gave me freedom to design how to "connect" the halves. The scrollwork was freehand, and sort of copied from her invitation..the daisies were on her invitation as well.

Shopping Bag
This store is a privately owned thing I guess, I can't find it online. They sent me a pic of the logo and told me the bag was copper. The frame and pic is totally edible, I blurred the face for privacy. I thought the "tissue paper" looked okay last night but in the photo it looks kinda like fabric instead of tissue. Oh well.

Dora
Lady wanted the cake to have lots of stuff on it and be fancy. I think I made it borderline gaudy!!!! Its a Dora/jungle theme. Unfortunately I noticed too late that the image place that did my images made anything that was supposed to be purple, blue. Ugh. That's ok I'm going to probably stop using most, if not all, edible images.

Ping Pong
Order for a customer....Tried to steam it and really messed it up so had to go over the top with a paintbrush. Customer was very specific what color the paddles were to be and where they were to be placed. Net is made with tulle and fondant, next time I will make a sturdier frame for the net because the tulle was not pulled taut enough.

Cat In The Hat
This was my entry in this year's "Let Them Eat Cake" in Philadelphia, which is a charity cake competition/cake tasting event. The theme for this year was "A Wedding through a Child's Eyes" and I love Dr. Seuss so this is what I came up with, complete with Whoville wedding couple. I had fun with it! Didn't win anything, but it was fun! Fishbowl and tiers are dummies (top tier is real cake)...figurines made of gumpaste...and Cat and Fish are rice krispy treats.

Mickey Mouse
This cake is 12"/10"/and 3D Mickey so its very heavy! The head ended up tilting slightly forward and my arms didn't turn out as nicely as I'd like...but ultimately I was very happy with the face itself, which to me is the hardest part to get right. I think the face will attract attention away from other structural differences. I hope! Everything is cake, even the head.

Kitty In A Shoebox Groom's Cake
This was a last minute design change...customer had a pic of the cat in a shoebox and I didn't have time to make any last minute box panels...but she did happen to have a brand new, clean shoe box! So that worked! The only thing I don't like is the tape on the side because since the real cat was fluffy and a tight fit in the box, I had to cut the sides of the box and slide the cake in to give it the tight fit. I also made a little platform in the box to make the cat sit up a bit higher. Somehow I think the cake looks a little better in person... anyway hope she likes it! Its all red velvet cake inside, even the head.
